SUMS
is the collaborative project of French electronic producer Kangding Ray and
Mogwai multi-instrumentalist Barry Burns. develop a new group that brought
together different elements of both Kangding Ray and Barry Burns' musical
traditions. Adding drumming savant Merlin Ettore, the pair devised a musical
world that crafts post-rock soundscapes and structures using the
sound-language of contemporary techno and experimental electronic music.
After a grand debut performance during the 2013 edition of the festival, the
group decided take the project into the studio. Over a two-year period,
working with a range of range of instruments, SUMS began to produce tracks
that achieved an organic fusion of spatial electronics and rousing post-rock
sounds that manages to seamlessly blends the best of the musical legacies of
Mogwai and Kangding Ray. The first action of this new phase of the project
comes in the form of a 3 track EP on Berlin Atonal Recordings. A new live
show will be shown first at Rewire festival on April 2nd |

new publication on Delude Records is dedicated to a good friend. He was sound
engineer and sound designer by Goldberg Audio. He mastered all the tracks of
the label. In the last years, his mastering work was a big part of Delude
Records sound. Dear Falk, R.I.P ! ! ! This publication CONNECTED VOL.2 is
spiked with four tracks of Delude Records artists. On the A side comes
PATRICE W. with his track EXPLORATION. A very nice dreamy track with warm
melody. Definitely nice Techno Tech House sound of the young producer from
Berlin. The second track is from PATRICK ARBEZ. He delivers a fulminant
melodic techno track for the A side. The master of Dark Techno comes along

on our imprint with massive EP 'Perceptions Of Delusion'. First track of the
same title is one of those tracks that will define this year here for us at

Second track on A side 'Thoughts Are Gone' is a nice melodic ambient journey
again showcasing Roman's artistic feel & creativity and expressing his

Outstanding, dreamy, and captivating track which gets you in the zone and off

Estornel AKA Maceo Plex is set to relaunch his old moniker called Mariel Ito
in 2018. The mysterious alias was active during the early 2000’s and
flourished from Estornel’s experimentation on electro sounds before he would
become known worldwide as Maceo Plex. He delivered a bunch of releases under
this moniker during 2005 and 2006 including an EP on Modern Love and an album
on SCSI-AV, to name a few.Estornel will come back with a first Mariel Ito EP
in 12 years. This new single titled ‘2e Komst’ will land on January 26th on
his fresh imprint Lone Romantic, that he launched with the recent Maceo Plex
LP ‘Solar’ last summer. The EP brings two new tracks ‘Sintex49’ and ‘Dmode90’

Monologue
is a brand new label founded by the AltaVoz creator Max D. Blas and the
producer and Kosmophono label owner Alex Piccini, that comes out of the
blocks firing on all cylinders thanks to an essential EP from Ryan Crosson.
Crosson, of course, has long been a part of the Visionquest collective, as
well as having his own esteemed back catalogue wth releases on labels like
Minus, Mdrnty and Brachtune. The Detroit artist is always evolving, and here
shows us his grasp of elastic groove and freaky atmospheres is as strong as
ever. The title track is up first, What State I'm In featuring Cari Golden.
It is a high tempo, high intensity track with slick and quick drums and hits
and molten sci-fi melodies all racing along and taking you with them. Golden's
vocals are hurried in the mix to add extra freakiness and the whole thing
really sucks you in. Dumb Dancin' is up next and is eight minutes of loose
limbed and liquid minimal techno. Claps bring funk, the drums are restless
and infectious and subtle vocals are like whisps of smoke that come and go to
add real steam to the groove |

It’s
safe to say it’s been too long since we last saw label bosses and heavy
hitters Pan-Pot grace Second State with their ‘Solace’ EP back in November of
2016. So to have them back with two big bombs and a remix from the one and
only Petter B on their ‘Funke’ EP curbs all anticipation from all of us who
have been dying for new material. Kicking things off is ‘Spitzer’ with
hi-octane percussion and reverb heavy acoustics spanned out over ten minutes
where simplicity rules and the age old saying that “less is more” has never
been more accurate. Flipping sides we see the duo take a similar approach on
“Funke” but deliver a rugged and brutally mesmerizing lead that coaxes the
inner devil inside all of us. Rounding out the EP is a carefully curated
remix from Gothenburg’s own and former Hertz collaborator Petter B who hands
over a beautiful rendition of ‘Spitzer’ where dense, lavish atmospherics

Spanish techno artist Aiken is
back on his own Timeline label with another EP that offers up four more of
his evocative takes on the genre. It comes after previous outings on Non
Series and Semantica and is his label s first release since 2016. Basic Principles
is up first and mesmerises with a pulsing lead synth line that forever
changes shape. Pummelling drums power along below and add up to a
disorientating and hypnotic overall effect. Theory is deeper and more
rubbery, with manic synths and pads all racing along and pilling on the
pressure while Midline is right out fo the Jeff Mills playbook with its
molten sci-fi synths journeying through outer space. Clean, crips drums are

After the celebrated Metabolism
LP from last year, Sigha is back with a 4-track cut for TOKEN84. This
untitled record remains understated, playing with variations on a theme
whereby the similarities exist seemingly to illuminate the differences
between the tracks. The relationship between Circular and Hum is reminiscent
of Sigha's 2016 New Puritan flip on the earlier offering of Puritan from
2012; with Circular presenting a tight, meditative loop in high-mid
frequencies while Hum inhabits a similar space, only seemingly from a
distance. If those two are close, measured and controlled, the other tracks
on the record demonstrate more freedom and abandon. Gliss is huge and heavy,
while Flare's sonic elements interact playfully and scatter as the piece progresses |

So Series' fifth release with a three tracker tailored for all too enjoy -
Dreamscapes" starts off as a gentle and subtle nature inspired piece,
turning into an arpeggio bass driven delight. "Dust" pushes through
with a gritty in your face acid bassline and jazzy chords, keeping it sweet
and simple throught whilst "Timepiece" mellows things down with a
toolish approach, more suitable for warming up the dancefloor and giving some

Seeking
new and unforgetable ways to express ourselves is the main serving of this
course. First dish and last of this EP - Giash serves the 6th platter of the
Why So Series menu, spiced and salted with all the right ingredients for each
and every table. Starting of with the A1 entree, "Meie", which is
riddled with Detroit heavy influences ranging from the omnipresent pads and
morning dew details, sparkling with clear headed details and drum tracks
which morph into a more stripped down structure which rests underneath the
bedrock of the whole landscape. Beyond that we have the intermezzo B1
"Sailere", a more clairvoyant excursion into the more harmonious
aspects of minimalistic perfection, keeping true to the artists intentions
and executing with precise accuracy the melodic afterthoughts of the
ephemeral. At the very end we're left with B2, "Eeder", the more
introspective and "grow to love me" side of the dish. A melancholic
and heavy set relief of the persona which is Giash, a Hungarian fellow which
is new but at the same time so familiar to our cause, a true believer and
relatable idiom which we all can identify with. Vinyl only, original artwork
