Legend
mode has been switched on for Bass Agenda Recordings 90th release, with UMEK
s Electro alias Zeta Reticula bringing his distinctive floor filling sound on
vinyl and digital formats. In his own words I think this is the best Zeta
Electro I have made since EP 2 A1 . For those who need telling, track A1 on
his infamous EP 2 on Billy Nasty s equally infamous Electrix label remains
one of the genres benchmark tracks for high energy, techno tinged Electro. A
classic, and to say this is his best work since is quite a statement
especially given the high quality of his releases in general and particularly
in the last couple years when this alias came back with a vengeance. Already
receiving early support from Dave Clarke on his mighty Whitenoise show, these
four new tracks are killers , bombs , fire , heaters , and all the other
words Electro heads reserve for the good stuff. These are the kind of tracks
that unlock that extra energy reserve a weary raver finds when they hear
them. Driving, powerful rhythms and infectious hooks from start to finish.

Iron
Oxide continues on its mission to bring good hard techno to the world, this
time showing that acid techno doesn’t have to mean ‘Stay up forever’, London
squat parties, or 160bpm! Keeping the tempo down to a very reasonable (but
still energetic) level, Andres Andreas (who recently went head-to-head with
Hardfloor on their ‘Versus Series 2′ release) bring a slightly
old-school sounding, but nevertheless effective, hard acid jam. Raw
production and tough drum programming (and of course a suitably tweaked 303
line) ensure the correct dancefloor response with this one! Regis meanwhile
treads the road less travelled with a remix that incorporates bleeding-edge
production techniques with his own uniquely bleak industrial-esque touches to
create a whirring and crunching interpretation that will inevitably find a
home with many of today’s adventurous techno cognoscenti . Sometimes you just
have to acknowledge that not all party music is about smiling…this in one for
that ‘heads down until the smoke clears’ moment… |

Exzakt's
first EP on Monotone since 2007 is a collection of various tracks that have
not been on vinyl. This tracks were hand selected by fans out of 17 tunes to
chose from. First we have Madrid Nights which has been only heard in Exzakt
DJ sets and was a fan favorite that has often been requested for release but
has not until now. This song is a deep look into Exzakt's progression in his
sound. This track explores many emotions through ever changing soundscapes.
A2 is an excellent remix of Larry McCormick's Escape track which originally
released on Datapunk in 2004. 214 completely dismantles the parts to make a
unique composition that turns into a journey and its perfectly fit for a
proper vinyl release. The B starts with an Exzakt Classic that from the start
screams to be heard on wax. Me & My 808 is a heavy, ripping tune that
will service any dance floor. Last is an emotional piece that you can tell
from the title, Love Hate. Again Exzakt goes deep on this one but still keeps
the beat pumping like his tracks often do. This is another solid Exzakt
Record that should be in any Electro Collectors record box |

Banging
Electro from The Hacker, Larry McCormick, Cosmic Force & DeFeKT. Hot off
the heels of MonoTrax Volume 1, Monotone is not letting up with this vinyl
only compilation of what could be considered some of the best Electro has to
offer. To prove that things get started by legend The Hacker with this pure
Electro outing. This one is a littler slower but still a powerful number that
will put you into the groove. The second cut on this plater comes from the
Monotone boss himself with Root Code. This is actually one of the hot tracks
from his Intelectro album however this has not seen wax until now. This jam
picks things up with his patented solid drum patterns while the rhythms build
up until the middle breaks off into epic keys that lift the track even higher
until the end drop into the bass. Side B starts off with the Dutch hero
Cosmic Force. Maximilian of Roma is a hybrid of grooves and textures
throughout. The energy on this carries the track throughout. Just the unique
composition you expect from the Utrecht ninja! Last but far from least. The
Irish man comes with a nice riding flow as DeFeKT shows why he is one of the
hottest Electro/Techno artists at the moment |

Cestrian (aka Ali Renault) lands
on Mechatronica for the Berlin label's 10th release with a remarkably wide
electro-driven EP, exploring different rims of the genre from the
transporting melodic peripheries and weirder edges, to the raw core. Two
hypnotizing journeys in "Gradients" and "Rake &
Pikel" make up the A-side along with the frenzied styles of "Cat
Strain". "Speak & Spell" blasts open the flip with an
anthemic groove and potent basslines, before "The Weir" rounds off

NCZ007, 'In Memory Of,' brings
together Stanislav Tolkachev, VSK, JoeFarr and ONTHEGROUND for a 4 track
compilation. Each artist has contributed a track to the general theme of
'broken techno,' with outstanding, stylistically diverse results. 'Ant Parade'
by Stanislav Tolkachev opens the record with a hypnotic march. Over a gently
lulling rhythm, a bright melody repeats over an eerie and disorientating
soundscape. VSK's 'Blue Snake' ratchets up the energy, with skittering
percussion and tense, murky bleeps propelling the track frantically onwards.
Nicz records owner Myztical teams up again with Diagnetic Origin as
ONTHEGROUND on 'Interstellar Gardening.' A sonorous melody emerges from
rattling beats, serving up a heady communion of intangible, elusive euphoria
and melancholy. JoeFarr concludes the record with 'I am a Visitor.' Staccato
kicks and fuzzed out synths stretch and twist, while a dislocated, brash
voice announces itself to the listener |

Jurek Przedziecki's solo Epi
Centrum project thunders back with a brand new LP out on Damon Wild's
Synewave Records imprint. After a handful of enthusiastically received
(supported by, among others, Laurent Garnier, DJ Hell and Joey Beltram)
records on numerous renowned Euro labels, Warsaw-based classically trained
composer and Buchla System 200e affictionado, delivers. a massive dose of muscular-yet obsessively
detailed acid funk techno. His 8-tracker - Excrescence" mixes old and
new, tapping on seminal Detroit retrofuturism and heavy-duty pounding mania.
One can also hear ghostly echoes of his 90s post-industrial faves like Coil
or SPK. Record, quite varied in itself, ranging from relentless bangers
('Association') to mental acid cuts ('Blaming Others') and slow bass
pulsations ('Limited Useful Life'), should fit nicely in the Synewave
