Everybody
loves a good mystery. The second chapter of the NOWHERE Series brings you to
France, Kalamazoo, Arnhem and Den Haag. Four forgotten dance floor bangers by
folks who clearly remember the first summer of love, back in 1988. All
remastered for your listening pleasure and available again on vinyl. First up
is a dark and twisted acid track by Laurent Garnier. Flashback stems from
1997, but has aged like a good single malt whiskey from France. You better
believe it. It Talks To Me is proper Detroit techno, with it's abstract stabs
and moody strings. Except it's from Kalamazoo, where Donnell Knox resides and
where he -since 1995- has pumped out an amazing discography. You can't get
any closer to early Transmat-energy than with this raw track. On the flip it
is over to Holland, for two forgotten gems. Inferno only came out on vinyl,
back in 1993. On the legendary label Gyrate. It's a full on acid affair, with
a massive break. Made by Dutchies Frederik (of Pako & Frederik fame),
Eric De Man & Heiko van Eindhoven. Solartrek by Roland Klinkenberg was
picked up by I-F in 1995 for his Top Secret label. The energetic and
surprisingly bright track is now remastered and available again on vinyl and
on digital platforms for the very first time |

Notts midfield General ROTR. Tackling some of the finest musical minds by way
of Donegal, Liverpool & Italy with a rather sick original composition
added in for good measure. The first half action is kicked off by the
rollicking electro-acid house of Rave Cage. Heralding a cease and desist ROTR
then takes a trip down memory lane with tools for the more adventourous
wedding DJs. Edit-ed the Roy way, dancefloor ready he gives the drummer some
for the Clannad chanteuse's 80's smash hit Orinoco Flow, adds some acid
menace to the Frankie's Scouse street urchins - calm down, Roy says Relax! -
And rounds it out with a doff of the stetson to the great Morricone: You See
In This World There's Two Kinds Of People - Those With Loaded Guns, And Those

three days in the studio, one burst of energy. April 23th, 2021. Breaking a
five year silence, purveyors in ambiguous jazz-rock hybrids Dans Dans drop a
new, fifth album. Throughout the media, Zink is hailed as another triumph for
the Antwerp based trio. 'A bold and thrilling noise trip', according to Humo.
'The best live band of the Western hemisphere is back', celebrated OOR, while
De Morgen hailed the 'organic but cleverly constructed jams'. The following
summer, the band made the best of a temporary easing of local Covid
restrictions, and played some rapturous shows, such as during Jazz Middelheim
in their hometown and an Unday Records label night during the Boomtown
festival in Ghent. A string of dates in Eastern Europe followed, but, alas,
the remainder of a national and international tour in autumn was cancelled.
Third wave, fourth wave, who was still counting? At the tail end of 2021,
Bert Dockx, Frederic Lyenn Jacques, and Steven Cassiers, the unholy trinity
that make up Dans Dans since 2012 - yep, that's a ten year anniversary! -
decided to turn setbacks into sound blasts, grief into grooves. Rehearsals
were planned. New music was made. And before you know, a studio was booked.
This is how an instrumental corona-album happened. Not one of contemplation
through isolation or new found domestic bliss, not your usual, subdued track
record of socially distant, monotonous times. '6' might be a reaction to all
of that, but it's definitely more than that |

The second release in the
three-part Greatest Hit series starts off with the cleverly named bangy
banger 'Emergency Loop'. Ghost in the Machine probably put this track on
there so that no one would notice that the rhythms in the second track
'Drunken Master' are so weird that probably not even the best DJs in the
world can play it. Not quite triplet, not quite dotted. Your problem, not
ours. Obviously. Hidden away on the entire b-side is Ghost in the Machine's
beautiful remix of Torgue's 'A Night at the Opera', available on vinyl for
the first time ever. Another very obvious money-grab which you absolutely
can't live without |

After
the first few very well received releases in the Exposure series; 'Radiant
Energy' & 'Luminous Energy', Greyscale is back with a new set of burners
directed specifically for the DJ's and the dancefloor. 'Spectral Flux' offers
four club monsters that spotlight different emotions and times in a classy
deep techno set. First up is one of the top names in Greece recently, Stelios
Vassiloudis, who employs his hypnotic deep techno trademark to the EP.
Through a field of static electricity, this immense, well programmed animal
creeps out from the depths. Confident, and never out of line, a track for a
DJ to spin with a big smile as they announced their presence on the decks.
Jamie S appears next on the A-side with a dreamy tech groove in 'System Encounter'.
This is a no-doubter sure to get everyone to the dancefloor for a good time.
Pure Finesse! Turn over to the 2nd side to begin with an example of a prime
dark builder. 'Equinox' is suspenseful and dangerous. It's all the things we
think are missing in this day and age of club techno. To close thing's out,
Armin Bender supplies us with the most dub techno track groove on here with
'494'. This has all the marks of a classic Deepchord track from early in
their discography. Pure Bliss! As per the grad_u himself our label head, this
comes with all the top-notch quality in a physical release. Cut on beautiful
crystal clear 12" 180-gram vinyl with grey inside-out cover &
special analogue art by Rima Prusakova on center labels. Don't be late in

How many forms can a drum break
take across the course of one EP? Needing little introduction are TIN
mainstays Frankel & Harper who, with the help of Bakey, help us get to an
answer. Buffalo Skank EP is a celebration of breakbeat. Whilst proving the
duo's prowess in rhythmic variety, there is an emphasis on fun as they form
complex drum patterns only for them to be chopped and screwed into myriad
formations. At times, an Amen break is accompanied by blissed-out
atmospherics borrowed from old school dnb ("Buffalo Skank"). At
others, an unapologetic rhythm drives forward as if crushing anything in its
way ("Oblivion"). On "Taz &" ricocheting snares evoke
the music of junglist Sully before Bakey strips them entirely in favour of a

Krew has been turning out electronic music from his analog-laden studio since
1994. He has built a discography nothing short of prolific. He mixes tech
savvy with a firm understanding of club music and a penchant for catchy and
clever hooks. The Powerplay EP forms a great display of this, and we are
elated to offer it as our third release. On the A-side, "House
Twerp" works up the sparks as a gentle bassline, bubbly synths and
bright chords rub against one another. "I love Kevin" continues
along the opener's groovy tone, but with the tempo pitched up a notch, a
cheerful brass lead and vintage transposed vocal samples, it full on targets
the floor. It is a slab of feel-good machine funk, ideal for brightening a
room that is far from having its lights turned on. "Masked Man" on
the B-side is the most bare-bones club track of the collection. The twitchy
lead is modulated left and right: set to a subtly crushed drum track, its
tension is continuously building and falling backwards. Closer and title
track "Powerplay" is a sparse and subtle slow-builder. Flanged
percussion, menacing chords and a classic roving bass sequence are the
central ingredients for this muggy and eerie house cut. ALT003 provides a
diverse selection, entirely in correspondence with the artist's ability to
create within a wide array - from rude electro to synth pop and a lot of the
space in between. Ed DMX never really cared much about how his music is
categorized, though. And rightfully so, as, even if it indeed tackles many
genres, in the end it only sounds like him |

Emerging from the northern market
town of Grantham in the early 1980s, English Dogs reached the punk spotlight
opening for Charged GBH and Discharge. Debut album Invasion of the Porky Men
features the band's original line-up, with drummer Andrew Pinching, bassist
Mark 'Wattie' Watson, guitarist John Murray and vocalist Pete 'Wakey'
Wakefield, the hardcore focus very different from the metal direction they
would take after Wakey moved on and Gizz Butt added his guitar pyrotechnics.
This debut disc is a must for all UK hardcore fanatics, who like their punk

Dutch producer nthng returns to
Delsin with another four pieces of melodic, ambient-spirited techno following
his 2017 label debut Turn To Gaia. Sub-Sonar opens with the beatless,
melancholic reflection of 'Looking Outside' before drifting into the submersion
chamber pulse of 'Liberate Truth'. Guided by the hypnotic allure of dub
techno, the track follows a linear path through spacious chord drops and
understated drum jack. Following a similar rhythmic tract, 'Sub-Sonar' offers
up a cloudy, sombre beatdown shot through with winsome sine wave blips. As a
surprise parting shot, '1 2 Butterfly' shakes up the scene with a crooked
breakbeat treatment which cuts an angular path through the hazy atmospheric

Lisbon's
purveyor of dance incantations Paraiso are back with an EP that packs a
meeting of 3 legends of the local and global underground - a trio of fearless
pioneers and cultural agitators from different eras. Yen Sung and Photonz
have partnered up in 2020 to collaborate on new music and start a record
label. Fast forward to today and this Paraiso EP is their third release,
further exploring their mutual penchant for ethereal house music drenched in
subtle but fiery grooves and acid basslines. Opener 'A Temperanca' taps into
moody yet bouncy motifs, punctuated by crisp claps and an infectious 303 line
in the vein of DJ Pierre's record 'What is House Music', their confessed
influence for this track. Things get slower on the A2 where the title track
gets reworked with alternative elements - aptly named Gravity Mix. The B side
continues the metallic acid exploration via 'Akasha', twisting and turning
like only expertly crafted basslines do before things blossom into a sunny
house groover with enticing percussion and variegated hats. Legendary
Angolan-Portuguese producer DJ Satelite steps in for remix duties, adding his
iconic deep afro house edge to a wonderful effect, all blissful motifs and
broken percussive sonics |

The
final chapter in the RATS: INFEST series adds a left-field twist. Mike Parker
is one of the most important historical Techno artists for us and has
recently released two halftime EPs for Donato Dozzy & Neels Spazio
Disponibile label which have been some of our favourite releases by another
label in the last few years. Once we heard these EPs, we were on the hunt for
some Mike Parker music on Samurai. Mike Parker creates music live on an
all-hardware setup and has done so since the mid-'90s. There is not really
anyone that sounds like Mike and we're excited to have him on board at
Samurai. Mike has recalibrated his machines and created an all-new halftime
sound specifically for this remix of 'Mainliner' and his upcoming EP for
Samurai. Slightly more quirky and less dense than his usual approach, the
machine pulses wind around a steadfast step. An unexpected, but perfect mood
shift to re-imagine the Mainliner sinisterism. Baby T makes a welcome return
to the label following on from her debut EP Portra. This time the versatility
of the Baby T sound is on display with a 140 Breakbeat killer re-sculpture of
'The Spell'. Dealing out euphoric vibe peaks with 4/4 punctuations and
Reese/break combinations, this one is a guaranteed peaktime dancefloor weapon.

An
elusive, anonymous producer whose veil has allowed him to build an impressive
sonic identity unhindered by preconceptions, Roho has amassed a loyal
following with his contributions to various Samurai compilations, his
essential debut EP (Alter Ego) for Homemade Weapons 'Weaponry' label and the
Fatum EP alongside Torn. Long in the works, his Samurai debut solo EP -
Elemental - is another peak in his ascendance. Kicking the door in with
arguably his biggest track to date - the title track Elemental, the energy
level is ratcheted up to overload with a procession of searing amens,
pummelling kicks and pulsing mid surges. This track has been causing maximum
damage in clubs and is really a time capsule display of the half-step/breaks
combination that has come to be synonymous with the Samurai sound. 'The
Primal Instinct' leans back slightly to sway and swing the edits as it rolls,
while 'Storm' goes for the jugular again with a robust march into a winding
amen lash. Torn appears to collaborate on the EP closer 'Phase Unwrapping'
and as always, these two like minds create something special - a distortion
and fast-paced kick attack with adept fills and rolling percussion |

Soma
proudly presents Functional Designs, the latest collection of nocturnal
environments from Deepchord, marking his first full length album release on
Soma in 5 years. The enigmatic Detroit based producer once again transports
us into his sonic realm via night-walks through numerous cities before being
transmuted into aural excellence through field recordings, holographic synth
tones, cosmic sounds and the hiss of electric wires. All swimming around in
filtered 4/4 beats and subterranean basslines. The album is a perfect example
of electroacoustic techno transmitted from undisclosed locations, the
amalgamation of swirling tapestries of sound, deeper than night and lifeforms
moving around underneath the grid. The album glistens into existence with the
beatless Amber breathing life into the project before the eventide of
Darkness Falls offers a beautifully subtle and contemplative atmosphere. The
guiding light of Transit Systems continues to offer up melancholy with
echoing percussion and drifting soundscapes. The highly processed acoustics
of Strangers brings a sense of intrigue to the album's journey as Modell
works in the most percussive track so far. Panacast is exotic dub techno at
it's finest, with warping and perfectly crafted synth work building gently
over the top of sub heavy beats, glued perfectly together by the hiss of the
collected found-sounds. In a slight rise in tempo, Cloudsat, makes a journey
skyward, collecting mood and feelings from high altitude with its emotive
synth work. The reverberating halls of Pressure again work as a testament to
Modell's sonic crafting - honing in on specific artefacts from his field
recordings, imbuing them with deeper purpose. The perfectly titled Ebb and
Flow drifts effortlessly on a tide of evolving, blissful sound waves crashing
to shore as each one overlaps the other. Beginning the descent into the final
part of the album, you begin your ride across a cosmic plain, lit by the
glistening and ethereal Sun. The meditative Memories opens a conduit to other
realms as the album closes out with the elysian melodies of Drassanes.
Deepchord once again proves he is a producer like no other. A true sonic
sculptor who uses his real world experience to create vast, unparalleled
soundscapes that captivate and enthral the listener |

The
Brussels based power trio Don Kapot has gained a lot of attention on the
national and international music scene in recent years. Their raw and
energetic in your face mix of punk, free jazz, afrobeat and other global
sounds took them to stages all over Europe. Their first two records were
based on the unique combined sound of Viktor Perdieus' baritone saxophone,
the raw and pumping electric bass of Giotis Damianidis and the powerful and
creative drumming of Jakob Warmenbol. Recently, the band has been
experimenting with incorporating other sounds and instruments into their
repertoire. In anticipation of their new full album, they invited a number of
musical friends to their rehearsal room at various times at the end of 2021
and recorded an improvised repertoire with them on the spot. One of those
musicians is the multi-talented all-round musician and singer Fulco
Ottervanger (known from FULCO, De Beren Gieren, BeraadGeslagen). The
recording they made turned out to be so successful that they couldn't just
let it pass. In two twenty-minute suites, Don Kapot & Fulco Ottervanger
take the listener on a haunting musical trip, in which numerous influences
and genres are reviewed: Classical Indian music, blues, krautrock, free jazz,
synth-pop, post-punk, ambient, ... you name it. The musical brilliance of
these four extraordinary musicians reaches unprecedented heights. The record,
