Black presents Umwelt's new studio album "Dead Eyes Society", a
stunning piece of work and the culmination of 30 years of artistic
refinement. Umwelt is a truly rare underground electronic artist in the world
of Techno and is without doubt one of the most important and prolific French
electronic producers of a generation. A techno activist since the 90's
boasting over 50 releases to date. Throughout his career he has crafted a
pure analog, unmistakable, signature sound, mixing dark, cinematic melancholy
with the electro-techno grit he is so renowned for. The sound of the album is
influenced by late 90's and early 00's techno contrasted with an avant-garde
approach to recording and sound design. Throughout the album Umwelt lays down
beautiful grooves and his space techno melodies in uncompromising fashion,
blended with classic synthwork and run through his famous analog outboard
chains. With "Dead Eyes Society" Umwelt has crafted his most
powerful techno album to date and solidified himself as an exceptional artist

Amorphic returns with his final
release of 2022. It's been a strong debut year with releases on Modularz,
Symbolism and the debut Amorphic label release, as well as music on Token to
come early next year. Amorphic 01 introduced this new project to the world
with its punishing polyrhythmic designs and upfront beats, which was
supported and played by most top Techno DJs. In June, The 'Voyager222' EP on
Modularz took things further with all 4 tracks having massive support. Ben
Sims' then released the first Amorphic single on Symbolism in August with a
slightly groovier but typical Sims style release, and now Amorphic 02 ends
the year with another 2 slabs of polyrhythms and brutal subs. We are also
proud to announce that all 4 tracks from Amorphic 01 & 02 will be
available on vinyl on 9th January 2023. The vinyl version features 2
different versions of these tracks than the digital release |

consists of 6 artists: In Logo Side, the EP opens with a masterpiece by Dutch

Casual Treatment one of the most talented artists on the scene, already

Swoose makes his return to Shall
Not Fade, joining the new Classic Cuts series, a year after his extremely
popular Introspective EP. The Irish producer is known for his explosive
nineties influenced style of house; think blissed out vocals over a headsy nightclub
ready beat. Bloom EP starts off with a bang, the title track a percussive
trance of arpeggiating synths and a touch of nineties nostalgia with a
classic sample. "Algo" is equally hypnotic; floaty melodies that
glide across the deep bass edge of this sundowner party track.
"Polypore" hits hard with a purposeful kick drum, driving home the
sidewinding acid inflections and making for a glitchy tool for dark club
nights. The closing track changes things up; "Allure" takes natural
piano loops and organic breaks to create a haunting piece of music which is a
peaceful end to the EP, demonstrating Swoose's range and ability to move away
from his comfort zone in production |

There's
no one who does it quite like Laurence Guy. Here he returns with an uplifting
house cut that deftly manipulates samples in a 4-track exploration of
friendship, imposter syndrome, and life's many other roller coasters. It was
the father of long-time pal and confidant J Peacock whose record collection
provided the intricate tapestry of samples that forms 'Can't Find Her'. It's
a story of losing yourself, and regaining your purpose by indulging in the
unifying potential of creating music collaboratively. The theme of
cross-reference is carried through to 'Extremely Present or Present in The
Extreme' and 'You Do Your Best to Hide The Good Parts of Yourself'. The first
sees a rhythmic shift with shuffly triplet drums that back an old Folk record
sample, whilst the title track sees Guy repurpose old vinyl gems to meditate
on the universal experience of attempting to conceal our anxieties from
others. Finally, 'Waiting For Love' takes a trip down memory lane. Conceived
in 2015, it demonstrates Guy's steadfast passion for constructing immersive,
enchanted worlds. Over the course of Guy's seven-year career, these worlds
have been visited over 52 million times via Spotify alone. As his latest
release will confirm, you'd be foolish not to do the same |

Ryan
Driver is this unstoppable, quietly torrential flow of music, that has been
coming out of Toronto, Ontario for a number of years now. He's been a key
member of a number of the most interesting ensembles in the city, including
Deep Dark United, The Reveries, The Silt (FIRECD127), the Guayaveras, The
Fake New Age Music Band, he's worked with Sandro Perri as the duo Double
Suicide and Jennifer Castle in Castlemusic, and he has his own mutant jazz
standards group, The Ryan Driver Quartet. He plays guitar and sings, but he's
also an accomplished improviser, and he can break your heart improvising on a
twangy ruler or blowing onto the surface of a rubber balloon. Despite this,
you have to listen carefully to hear Ryan, not because he's difficult to hear,
but because he's not about to show himself off. He's there if you want to
hear him. And now, this is his first solo record, which features some songs
he's been singing for a while. The songs here are mostly folk/country ballads
from an imaginary country: they sound like JJ Cale, Joao Gilberto, John
Martyn, soft but powerful and precise. But there's also live favorite
"Spinning Towers" which is given an anthemic rock treatment, and
"Why the Road?" which slowly shifts from folksong to hazy
"Rock Bottom" period Robert Wyatt mysticism. Toronto's alt.folk
queen Jennifer Castle duets with Ryan on the opening "You Are Beside
Me". Various members of the Rat-Drifting group, including Eric Chenaux
and Martin Arnold drop in to play some guitar too. Ryan always sounds like he
has come a long way to sing you a song. His voice contains vast North
American distances, long cold winters, the endless ugly monotony of the
country, which can be broken and dissipated only by beer, love and music. He
is always arriving too late or too early, and what he sings about is always
to be found somewhere else, somewhere where he's not. Even when he sings jazz
standards, the music isn't nostalgic or pessimistic, in fact you can't tell
whether he's talking about the past or the future. Soft, sad, determined .
the fact that he's here now, singing these songs is, for those that need such
things, a sign of great hope. And that's why this really is a "Feeler of
Pure Joy" |

& Obscure Shape invite Invexis for his first 12" in almost 20 years
as the German live act and producer returns to Mutual Rytm for his impactful
EP, 'Odyssey'. With an ethos of merging the past with the present and future,
harnessing classic techno influences and shaping them into the sounds of
tomorrow, SHDW & Obscure Shape's Mutual Rytm imprint has become an
exciting home for rising talents of note and established artists to shine a
spotlight on the genre. However, the next release on the label welcomes a
long-awaited return from Georg Kohler, aka Invexis. Known for releases such
as 'Kalibreur' on Salpeter Records and 'Chiffre' on Planet Rhythm Records,
with further releases via Compound and Kazumi, the German talent crafted and
shaped his own sound within the techno landscape in the early 2000s.
Returning with his first EP release in close to two decades, late December
welcomes a return to Mutual Rytm, following on from the inclusion of his
track 'Elektronenwind' on the label's 'Federation Of Rytm I' release, as he
delivers a selection of dynamic, melodic and driving techno offerings across
'Odyssey'. 'Silhouette' opens the package with authority as spirited drums
and spiralling synths take hold of a twisting and turning lead effort, with
'Non Return To Zero' building a spiralling groove via frantic yet measured
percussion, sweeping melodies and funky stabs. 'Red Storm' opens the B-side
with a more up-front production combining harsher metallic tones with
relentless drive and crashing hats, while 'Body Impulse' utilises dubby stabs
and eerie atmospherics to balance light and dark. The title track 'Odyssey'
closes the vinyl offering, with a euphoric and rapturous production
harnessing resonant chords, looping drum grooves and elated leads to bring
things to an impressive crescendo and deliver a record that will remain in
the ears of listeners for a long time. As always with the label, digital
purchasers are treated to an exclusive track as Kohler combines zig-zagging
grooves, refined synths and off-kilter glitches and bleeps across digital

Pearson Sound returns to Hessle
Audio with a varied new EP over a range of tempos. Lead track 'Red Sky'
combines a euphoric arpeggio and a growling bassline, with tough breakbeat
foundations setting the pulse. Equally as effective deployed during peak time
rushes as it is soundtracking a sunrise. 'Sinkhole' pairs crisp swung drums
with an earworm of a bassline, while dubbed out echoes ping around the stereo
field. On the flipside, 'Freefall' features eerie samples from Delia
Derbyshire and Barry Bermange's 1960s 'Dreams' BBC radio broadcast,
surrounded with droning pads and punchy 909s to hypnotic effect. Finally
'Around in Circles', a 160bpm excursion echoing some of Pearson Sound's
earlier 'Autonomic' work for Darkestral, brings the EP to a satisfying close
