An
onslaught of determined rhythms interlace in a glorious cacophony for the
dance floor on Kim Durbeck's latest. The Norwegian/Vietnamese artist
unleashes a formidable din of percussion across six new pieces for Lek
records. A club record that takes furtive glances at the experimental, Lek003
is hardly an exercise in restraint as it carves its way through jungle and
drum n bass to find its place on today's impetuous DJ booth where a new
youthful energy has seen tempos reach heady heights. As ever Durbeck's
Vietnamese heritage is strong as he weaves esoteric textures through the
tapestry of monstrous kick drums and snares. The record eschews the
conformity of a four to the floor, for something more assertive. From the
familiar Amen constructions of a track like "Phu Yen Flow" to the
more extreme outer edges of IDM with a track like "Wipeout", each
track utilises the break beat in different adaptations throughout. At the
other end of the spectrum, Patas tames of "Nuoc Mam is my holy
water" for a more tempered version and lets our head up for air, before
Durbeck brings the ruckus with his army of irreverent drum machines. There is
no quarter given with perfunctory designs on the dance floor and the club

AT WINTERLAND BALLROOM, SAN FRANCISCO, CA, 14TH JAN 1978 FM BROADCAST'- The
Sex Pistols' 1978 U.S. tour was a complete fiasco. Bassist Sid Vicious was
addicted to heroin, and Johnny Rotten was barely speaking with his bandmates.
The brief tour wrapped up January 14th at San Francisco's Winterland
Ballroom. It was the biggest venue of the entire tour, the crowd was mainly
hippies, curious to see what all the fuss was about. The band closed with a
cover of the Stooges' 'No Fun'. When the song ends Rotten asks the crowd,
'Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?'. He then drops the microphone and
walks offstage. It was the last time the Sex Pistols would perform together
until their reunion tour in 1996 |

Voices
From the Lake (consisting of Donato Dozzy and Neel) mark the 10th anniversary
of their influential self-titled album with a fully remastered reissue on
Spazio Disponibile. It arrives in full on vinyl for the first time, as well
as on digital formats, first quarter of 2023 as the pair continues to play
select live shows around the world. The release will see the light of day as
a 4-set vinyl LP release, including download. Italians Dozzy and Neel have
been friends united by a shared vision of music since their teenage years.
They are immaculate sculptors of sound who fuse evocative ambient and
leftfield techno into multi-layered soundscapes. For many years they worked
as established solo artists but came together in 2011 to craft what is now
regarded as one of techno's most pure and absorbing listening experiences.
It's often said that the best music comes about as a happy accident, and that
is certainly true of Voices From the Lake. The career-defining album first
arose in the thoughts of Dozzy and Neel when the latter was preparing a mix
for the former's wedding and named it Voices From The Lake. It was a
pertinent title that stuck in the mind: both grew up by waters around the
coast of Italy, and in their early days the pair even held private parties on
the shores of a lake. Fittingly, Japan's celebrated Labyrinth festival at
that time was also held by a river and a lake in the middle of a forest on a
serene mountainside. It was that exact setting the pair envisaged when making
music to play live on stage. During preparations, they
"accidentally" wrote an entire album. It has only ever been
performed live a few times - once at Japan's Labyrinth festival in 2011, at
London's Barbican, Barcelona's Mira Festival, Paris' Marathon Festival and
once during 2022's Amsterdam Dance Event. Those shows saw the pair using
banks of analogue and digital equipment to improvise in the moment and
essentially remix the album live on stage. That spontaneity is captured in
the original Voices From the Lake recordings and on later LPs such as Live at
Maxxi in 2015, and the most recent EP Quarto Freddo from 2020. But the debut
album remains a standout achievement. A decade on, it's quiet intensity,
musical storytelling and slowly unfolding tension remain in a class of one.
Each sound is meticulously designed and placed, and the spaces left behind
are just as important in conveying such a captivating mood and emotion.
Rather than traditional kick drums, hi-hats or snares, this is music crafted
from layers of real-world sound - dripping water, chirping birds, rustling
leaves or a distant breeze - and it's that which defines the album's organic
allure. From deeply contemplative to cautiously optimistic, pastoral organic
scenes to more underwater worlds, Voices From the Lake is a cohesive
collection of tracks that add up to one inseparable whole |

Mutual Rytm as the Italian delivers a medley of diverse techno cuts across
his latest EP, 'Boya'. Arriving fresh from an impressive twelve months with
releases via the likes of Token Records alongside his notable self-production
only mixes, Italian DJ and producer Alarico continues to grow as a talent on
the rise within techno. Combining nuances from across the genre to shape his
own fast-paced and raw yet soulful sound, the Milan based talent hasn't
slowed down since launching the alias in 2019. Having featured on the label's
VA 'Federation Of Rythm I' earlier this year, he now returns to SHDW and
Obscure Shape's blossoming Mutual Rytm imprint for his first EP on the label -
delivering eight cuts across both digital and vinyl for 'Boya'. Kicking
things off with the rugged and loopy 'AE86', Alarico quickly gets to work
fusing driving grooves with slick vocal interjections, while title cut 'Boya'
veers into slightly more raw and metallic territories guided by snappy claps
and resounding kicks. 'Killa Cut' brings the funk on the B-side as soulful
vocals ebb and glow amongst the mix, with 'Lost In Time' offering up pulsing

Psycho Bummer is proud to present
UFO!, a true originator for bass music in the United States and a hero to us
since before we can remember. As part of San Francisco's Phunckateck crew in
the 90's, UFO!'s early music staked out a militantly abstract form of
techstep that was unlike anything else around at the time. Releases like
"Science Fact / Enemy Infiltration" in 1999 were among the first
US-produced drum'n'bass records that many stateside ravers bought, and while
we can only speak for ourselves, UFO! was a huge inspiration in getting us to
make our own music. On the "Level Up" EP, UFO! continues a recent
exploration of jungle, footwork, and juke-influenced tracks that are
completely unpretentious and fun yet carry a certain strain of weirdness that
links back to his early music. From heads down rollers like "Operation
Drag n Drop" to the bizarre rush of "Level Up", this stuff is

new trilogy project whose elements will see the light throughout the year.
Part I involves Nuel, known for his collaboration with Donato Dozzy on the
Aquaplano project and author of for two genre defining album on Further
Records. His contribution 'Intarsia' is a polyrhythmic mixture of ascending
synth spirals where every element is tuned for maximum clarity and impact.
Then Sam KDC, an integral part of ASC's cutting edge Auxiliary label and
regular on Geoff Presha's Samurai and Samurai Horo, comes in with 'Skirmish',
a ritualistic experience where a memorable melodic figure is surrounded by

The
Milk Factory is lead by guitarist Edmund Lauret (Nordmann, Kosmo Sound, ...)
and pianist Thijs Troch (Nordmann, Jukwaa), both representatives of that
adventurous Ghent music scene that has been causing (inter)national furor for
several years now. Besides these two pivotal figures, the band is full of
high-profile musicians who continue to make the cut with bands like Don
Kapot, Steiger, Mòs Ensemble, Keenroh, ... and so many more. Although quite a
few of the band members are known for their raw in-your-face jazz, it was
clear from the start that The Milk Factory would opt for an entirely
different aesthetic. Simplicity and modesty was preferred to virtuosity and
exuberance. Everything goes back to the essence: memorable melodies, close
interaction, consistent atmospheres and songs. After a self-titled debut EP,
their first full-length album "Aula" was released in 2020 and was
embraced by the press. This was followed a year later by another EP 'Dusky'
on which the typical sound was purged even further. Is it jazz? Is it indie
rock? Is it folk? Is it contemporary classical? It's none of this and
everything at once. After three complete instrumental achievements, the band
felt ready to release a vocal album for the first time. They sought and found
the perfect partner for this in Swedish singer Hannah Tolf. After an
extensive residency in and on behalf of BoZar, they finished a brand new
record. The result was "Vandrare," which will be officially
released on April 21 by Belgian jazz not jazz label W.E.R.F. records. Band
members Kobe Boon and Viktor Perdieus studied in Gothenburg for a year and
met Hannah Tolf there. Tolf sings, composes and improvises on the interface
between acoustic and electronic music, between pop and jazz, the familiar and
the unexpected. This makes her an intriguing addition to the band, able to
redefine its beloved twilight zones with that combination of dreaminess,
intimacy and openness. Vandrare is a treat for the ear, a feast for any
open-minded music lover who loves to be drawn into an imaginative dream world |

Upcoming
album 'Hijaz + Strings' to be released in April 2023. Hijaz is a
multicultural sextet that combines Eastern melodies with improvised jazz.
Their music is based on the dialogue between oud and piano. ‘Hijaz’ refers to
the Arabic musical scale but also holds a clear reference to jazz. More than
ten years already, the band is weaving an intriguing web of Mediterranean
warmth, polyrhythmic structures and musical virtuosity. In a tight formation
of fore core musicians, Hijaz captures the magic of the moment during their
concerts. For this album the band aligned with a cello and two violins and
arranged for strings by bass player Ben Faes. Hijaz is without a doubt one of

- To say the release of this EP's tracks is long-awaited would be a terribly
gross understatement, so it's with much fanfare and general HQ excitement
that we announce the sophomore release from the monstrously talented Ross
From Friends. Having been circulating on the net for a fair while now, 'Talk
To Me You'll Understand' finally arrives with a fresh mastering, but still
thudding along with those scuffed Reebok drums and soaked into fuzzy,
stomach-squeezing low-pass filter. All soft chords, soothing vocals, deep-sea
bass and skittering hats. Middle-man 'Gettin' It Done' is a solid label
favourite. Less the full vocal flourishes and more the tinkered & chopped
MPC underpinned by more dusty drum work that just grows in impact as the
track goes on. One for late running and early morning truckin'. Last but not
least comes the R'n'B-inflicted house jam 'Bootman'. Although it takes a good
couple of minutes to get going, this is pure 2016 date playlist vibes. Slip
the iPhone into the restaurant system and watch the silk melt down from the
walls, the tables coat in velvet and ever-lasting passion effervesce from the
heaving masses |

rumble under clattering hats and a soft, woozy pad and hawt-as-hell vocal
flourishes. Following on a similar tip, Around is a more extended affair,
morphing from a brooding down-pitched moaner to a armthrowing, hip-slinging
Jersey banger straight outta NYC. On the flip, Yes He is keeps the New York
house vibes flowing on a slightly more low slung tip. One for the slow summer
Sunday terrace dance. Lastly, Blue Faces takes a plunge into the deep blue,
skin fizzing with the cold caress of salt-water and seaweed on freshly

- Themed around events in nthng's life, Unfinished is a deeply personal
journey, yet there's something very relatable to the world he has conjured.
Lockdown has forced us to look inward, explore realities within ourselves and
the fragility of our forgotten world. The album is a series of peaks and
troughs - hopeful words, ominous tones and other-worldly soundscapes, giving
way to a journey in no way linear - but a true reflection of our times. The
title track sets the scene perfectly, while Son features deep bass notes,
dreamy keys and spoken word - creating a visceral and unsettling scene.
Subnautica resides in the fringes of ambient and techno - as tribalistic
drums are suspended in our new rendered reality. The marching bass and
howling synths of Wrath of the Demon lull conspicuously in a vacuum, while
the hauntingly beautiful vocals featured on Disappeared But Not Forgotten
evoke a poignant, powerful reaction across the record's B-side -
"Everything stopped, you just disappeared..." At its most tranquil
Our Time offers a sense of rest - a space to appreciate, as we leave the
window open, peer outside and feel the gentle breeze brush across our face.
Saafe continues this theme, and feels like a warm embrace - "She saved my
life in a matter of speaking, when she gave me back the power to
believe." Ending Theme is beautifully organic as you hear the sound of
the piano pedal touch the floor, tones are introspective and vulnerable -
while the looming presence of uncertainty subtly takes form in thinly layered
pads. The album also sees the release of a digi only bonus track Only a Flash
of Light and invites you outside while the stars are at their brightest |

the label with the label boss Mattia Trani and his solo EP. This Time Mattia
chosed a banging tune "Time Struggle" with the first new school
version, classic heavy techno beat with saturated 303 sub melodies and a
futuristic pad to complete this version. The Old school version is more
percussive acidic, no pad melodies, no compromises, just straight to the
point for killing every dance floor. On the B side there's a perfect rework
from a dutch techno master Steve Rachmad as Sterac, more 909 clean beat

Lions Band share the love for conscious roots reggae music & are
dreadicated to taking the music forward in these times. Bassplayer Carlos
Silva is the founding member of the band. In 2016 he gathered some of the
Dutch reggae scene's most experienced musicians, each of them having
previously played with top local and international artists - most recently
the band have performed with Army, Prince Jamo, Donovan Kingjay, Black Omolo,
Iyiapo Tafari, Chezidek and more. MLK is a singer from Sierra Leone, based in
the Netherlands. He performs regularly live with bands and in 2018 released
the acclaimed LP 'The World Is In Trouble' with The Breadwinners on the
Bionic Dread label. King Cooper (AKA King Kooper in the Jazz world) from
Amsterdam has a long & fascinating career, playing reggae, jazz, funk
& soul with the likes of Doe Maar, Sister Sledge, Coopertest & many,
many more... proving himself as one the world's top saxophonists. Hornsman
Coyote from Belgrade, Serbia is one of the leading Trombonists in the modern
reggae scene and works regularly with top producers & labels
internationally, such as, Lee Perry, House Of Riddim, Rolling Lion, Jah
Works, Earth Works, Jerry Lions to name but a few. His career started as the
front-man for Belgrade Hard-Rock-reggae crossover band, Eyesburn & is a
singer songwriter in his own right with a huge catalogue from over 20 years

As
soon as the pilots of the Space Oddities endeavour decided to tackle Yan
Tregger's oeuvre, a major problem surfaced: where to begin? And where to end?
Upon which side should one launch into the ascension of this body of work? It
will have taken Alexis Le-Tan and Jess years to put up this selection,
capturing the profusion and eclecticism of Tregger who, at 81 years old, has
yet to lay down the arms and still defines himself as a 'jack of all trades'.
Symphonies, library music, movie soundtracks, TV credits, advertisement,
French variété, pop, disco, electronic, experimental or relaxation music, Yan
Tregger (born Edouard Scotto di Suoccio) took up all genres, styles and
formats through a career spanning from the end of the 50s to this day. How
the Stakhanovist successfully went down so many different routes can be
explained by his innate talent for composing melodies< they are the very
basis on which his iconoclastic production was built. Ten years ago already,

the sound of analog synthesizers as a principle. Varsovia has gathered great
international attention in recent years thanks to the inclusion of a song

band was again invited to include a new song in the second season of the
