Zvuk prepare for a busy 2023 with an enthralling double LP's worth of
futurist sound design from Flaty. In the game for more than a decade now, the
producer, mastering engineer and all-round visionary artist has delivered an
impressive range of music across both his own ANWO imprint as well as for
West Mineral ltd., 12th Isle, Firecracker and more. Always content to subvert
expectations and blur stylistic lines, on Intuitive Word there is a clear
fascination with a spectral, whittled-down-to-its-core type of avant-pop/RNB
hybrid. Digital strings, dubbed beyond recognition semantic snatches,
re-imagined new age style synthesis and even flourishes of MMORPG computer
game soundtracks all combine into something that feels uniquely Flaty. In a
sense, Intuitive Word marries ambient sound collage and hyperreal,
narrative-style vocal processing. However, glimmers of shoegaze and old
'ethereal' bands (think Harold Budd & Cocteau Twins) crop up on tracks
like 'Tree' and 'Nepal Lit', a testament to Flaty's skill for world-building
and atmospherics. Across the 19 cuts there is a recurring theme of choral
style, computer generated elegies. A kind of 'cristal trance', in their
words. 'Mint' combines these with overtly RNB style vocal samples, whereas
darker, more broken beat soundscapes can be heard on the Madteo collab
'Observer'. With plenty of sombre and cinematic style ventures such as 'NEWS'
breaking up the album and eschewing this focus on vocals, we find one of the
most consistent producers in the current Russian scene delivering what may
well be his most accomplished collection yet |

From
its creation in the late 90s until its closure in 2009, the Toytronic label
witnessed a digital revolution that transformed the record industry, turning
glitch into a production tool for a whole generation heir to the of bleep 'n'
bass sound. Thanks to their impeccable A&R credentials, its head honchos,
Martin Haidinger and Chris Cunningham, created an incredible IDM label
catalogue, as well as producing their own material under pseudonym Abfahrt
Hinwil. Their only album to date 'Links Berge Rechts Seen' [Toytronic, 2002]
was released as a compilation featuring tracks from their brief career that
over the years has become a benchmark for the Toytronic sound. This album
included their first -and only- three releases signed to Expending Records and
Toytronic, and also included two previously unreleased songs: 'Planquadrat'
and a hidden track at the end of the CD version. Lapsus proudly presents
'Links Berge Rechts Seen', which will be released on vinyl for the first time
as part of its'Perennial Series'. The collector's format marbled 2LP is

generic sleeve repress - Lars Huismann returns to Mutual Rytm as he delivers
the second instalment of his "Sounds From The Past" trilogy on the
label. As SHDW & Obscure Shape's Mutual Rytm imprint continues to grow,
it's clear that the DJ and producer pairing have a strong vision for the
label and are building an equally impressive roster of artists to form the
imprint's core family members. One of the early standouts is Lars Huismann,
who arrived to deliver a selection of impactful offerings influenced by the
"golden years" of techno in his own unique style crafted by various
production techniques. Having featured on the label's opening VA and
delivered the first EP for MR002, racking up a wealth of global support in
the process, mid-November welcomes a return for the Berlin-based talent as he
serves up six fresh cuts in his signature sound for "Sounds From The
Past II". Opener "Sounds From The Past II" is an action-packed
title cut fusing typically slick rolling grooves with hazy melodies and
atmospheric releases of tension, while "Propulsion" takes cues from
its title and sees precise drum shots, echoed background vocals and a
tunnelling groove taking the track right into the thick of the action. On the
flip, B1 "Loucura" brings a percussive workout as frantic organic
drums and resonant brass melodies bring a party to proceedings, with
"Stroke" and "Nudge" both armed with tough kicks, zipping
synths and more subtle vocal work. Digital buyers get an extra exclusive in
the form of "Dub Division", welcoming a slightly more subdued but
equally as impactful track guided by dubby chords and peppy hi-hats to close

This fifth EP in the Steve
Rachmad re-issue series contains a colorful combination of three tracks from
different releases. Side A brings the sought after track 'Teknitron',
originally released on his 3rd EP, originally released under his short-lived
alias Black Scorpion back in 1995. 'Transpose' is taken from his first Sterac
EP from 1994, while the last tracks 'Alastria' comes from his second album
Thera, originally released in 1998. All tracks are re-mastered of course.
Steve Rachmad's richly melodic strain of techno has resulted in a huge body
of work he has been growing since the early 90s. His sound is the perfect
distillation of machine soul - dubby atmospherics and crisp, danceable
dynamics balanced in perfect unison. Amsterdam's Delsin Records gathers
together some of the Dutch techno figurehead's most important, sought-after
works in a new EP series, all remastered from the original DAT tapes from

Futuristic
Brussels based four-piece ECHT! are set to release their sophomore album
'Sink-Along' on the 5th May via the groove-obsessed Sdban Ultra label.
Receiving critical acclaim from the likes of Gilles Peterson (BBC Radio 6
Music) and Mixmag for their debut release 'INWANE' (2021), ECHT! takes the
best of Jonwayne, DJ Rashad, J Dilla, Ivy Lab, Tsuruda and Aphex Twin,
resulting in an unrivalled sound. In a society geared almost exclusively
toward the technological, ECHT! forges a different path, one that instead
replaces the mechanical with the human. At the heart of their creative
process made up of actual skin and bone, the influences of trap, bass music,
jazz and hip-hop burst forth through their expert playing of instruments.
'Sink-Along' showcases a rawer and more straight-forward approach than their
debut. Whether on the bass-heavy opener 'Glide' or the beat-to-beat sounds of
'Cheesecake' and 'Bryan Brains', ECHT! confirms its taste for deep, dark

Duden' but at the core of 'Sink-Along', the common denominator is a warm and
organic groove, evident on the inventive 'Rouf-rouf' and 'Mtwk part2'.
"For this album we wanted to make strong and opposite emotions coexist:
a dark and intense apocalyptic tendency, and a life and dance impulse that
runs through everything. A paradox that is reflected in the wordplay of the
title 'Sink-Along'." Releasing their debut EP 'DOUF' in 2019, the
following year, ECHT! finished third in Red Bull Elektropedia's 'Fresh on The
Scene' category and the EP was nominated for 'Best EP'. ECHT! released three
sublime live studio sessions titled the BREWmixes in 2021, which received
support from tastemakers including LEFTO, Worldwide FM and Belgian national
radio station Studio Brussel (StuBru). Their debut album 'INWANE' soon
followed. Echt means 'vrai de vrai' - 'true' or 'real' in brusseleir
(Brabantian dialect of Brussels). The name is a direct reference to the fact
that their sound transmission is 'real', performed with conventional musical
instruments as opposed to computer music which the production might suggest.
It also relates to the fact that none of the members of the band are
originally from Brussels - bassist Federico Pecoraro is from Italy,
keyboardist Dorian Dumont is from France and drummer Martin Méreau and
guitarist Florent Jeunieaux are both from the Mons region on Belgium |

This
14-track opus is the real deal: it's a story of survival, a story of
resilience, by a band being bold and rejecting the easy impulses of simply
repeating what's worked before. Together during lockdown, Aimee Interrupter,
partner and guitarist Kevin Bivona, and his younger twin brothers, Jesse
(drums) and Justin (bass), decided to put idle hands to work. After building
a home studio in their garage together, Kevin stepped up and took charge of
production duties to become 'the accountable one' this time around. The
record took shape in an unforced and organic fashion, and the recording
process was evidently a fun one, which is reflected in the sound of the
album, gliding across a spectrum of breathless punk rock, doo/wop, gospel,
dancehall, and the band-s customary nods to the lineage of two-tone. It's
further evidenced in the uplifting spirit and the glittering rollcall of
guests (Tim Armstrong, Rhoda Dakar, Hepcat, The Skints) involved too. Thanks
to the cocoon of the intimate environment they'd built and relaxed working
practices, the results made for the most personal Interrupters album to date,

Garden Planet. Mediterranean and Balearic lushness from the talented Pino

together they created that magic, that long-forgotten, set aside, almost

Dragging their rave roots into a rusty blender drenched in neon acid and
metallic percussion heard in the tunnels of lost dystopian cities. From heavy
hitting club tracks to a hypnotic ambient escape, the EP rounds out furiously
with an absolutely devious and destructive electro techno bomb of a remix

Amsterdam
based DJ, producer and label owner KI/KI releases her long awaited debut EP
on her own slash imprint. The highly anticipated anthem 'Leave it to the
vibe' is doing rounds in her DJ sets for over two years now and made a big
impact on her notorious Boiler Room performance during AVA Festival back in
2021. Finally, two years later she found the right time and place for it and
it's getting a well deserved release on her fast growing slash label. On
slash004 KI/KI reworks the original in three different ways. The original
perfectly shows where KI/KI flourishes at the moment, it's a fast-paced high
energy dancefloor anthem with a nostalgic deep trance drift using her own
vocals incorporated in hypnotic loops. For the reworks on the b-side she stripped
down the original into two new versions. Where 'To the vibe (rework)'
highlights a subtle twinkle that illuminates the beauty of melodies, 'Leave
it to the drums' could be seen as the dub version capturing an impeccable
energy that represents the late night, strobo heavy warehouse energy where
KI/KI finds her comfort zone |
