Releasing solo for years on his
self-titled imprint, Berlin-based DJ/producer Amotik launched AMTK+ earlier
this year to feature other artists via split EPs. Following the first
instalment with the label boss and Deluka, Berlin-based Arthur Robert and Decka
team up for the next EP, bringing another dose of deep and grooving techno to
the table across four new tracks. Unterwegs co-founder Decka kicks off the
A-side with 'Bridging the gap', bringing punchy kicks under oscillating tones
and razor-sharp hats. 'Sulphur' follows with reverberating synths, rattling
percussions and moody bass textures, delivering another menacing techno
workout. On the flip, Figure affiliate Arthur Robert provides deep, dark and

Farron
enters faster territories on this record, telling the story of the hunt after
the mysterious jade antique that is hidden in the infamous 'House Of Traps'.
After entering the house, one already feels the oppressive atmosphere. The
ubiquitous feeling of not being welcome here is obvious when the golden walls
invert and you come to face countless swordsmen ready to attack. The vigorous
atmosphere of 'Penny At The Chain' boosts up your confidence for what is
about to come. But what if the intruder is skilled in kung-fu? The mob
retreats automatically and bars of iron come down to confine you. 'Wilshire
1015' and its driving bassline, warm pads and whirling breaks will calm you
down a bit. But what's next? In the twinkling of an eye, a field of razor-sharp
nails come through the floor that you are standing on, and the escape route
up the stairway becomes perilous as the stairs suddenly form into an array of
sharp blades. 'Hiatus Phase' keeps you focused and light-footed, so you can
manage the jump up to the next floor. However the next stirring event quickly
follows. The moment you feel safe, a giant golden net unexpectedly launches
from every direction and traps you in the middle of the room, hung over the
floor. As if this wasn't enough, the mob is rushing back again - armed with
bows and arrows. But the varied atmosphere of 'All In CST', its floating pads
and filtered breaks energize you, and so you are able to make a getaway from
the most lethal attack. After dodging the giant blades suddenly swinging in
from each side, you are finally there. The golden cage and its arcane
content. The warmth of 'Conback' and its sparkling pads slowly fill the room
as you open up the cage. Another trap, or a bright future? Find out... |

generic sleeve repress - SHDW & Obscure Shape invite Invexis for his
first 12" in almost 20 years as the German live act and producer returns
to Mutual Rytm for his impactful EP, 'Odyssey'. With an ethos of merging the
past with the present and future, harnessing classic techno influences and
shaping them into the sounds of tomorrow, SHDW & Obscure Shape's Mutual
Rytm imprint has become an exciting home for rising talents of note and
established artists to shine a spotlight on the genre. However, the next
release on the label welcomes a long-awaited return from Georg Kohler, aka
Invexis. Known for releases such as 'Kalibreur' on Salpeter Records and
'Chiffre' on Planet Rhythm Records, with further releases via Compound and
Kazumi, the German talent crafted and shaped his own sound within the techno
landscape in the early 2000s. Returning with his first EP release in close to
two decades, late December welcomes a return to Mutual Rytm, following on
from the inclusion of his track 'Elektronenwind' on the label's 'Federation
Of Rytm I' release, as he delivers a selection of dynamic, melodic and
driving techno offerings across 'Odyssey'. 'Silhouette' opens the package
with authority as spirited drums and spiralling synths take hold of a
twisting and turning lead effort, with 'Non Return To Zero' building a
spiralling groove via frantic yet measured percussion, sweeping melodies and
funky stabs. 'Red Storm' opens the B-side with a more up-front production
combining harsher metallic tones with relentless drive and crashing hats,
while 'Body Impulse' utilises dubby stabs and eerie atmospherics to balance
light and dark. The title track 'Odyssey' closes the vinyl offering, with a
euphoric and rapturous production harnessing resonant chords, looping drum
grooves and elated leads to bring things to an impressive crescendo and
deliver a record that will remain in the ears of listeners for a long time.
As always with the label, digital purchasers are treated to an exclusive
track as Kohler combines zig-zagging grooves, refined synths and off-kilter
glitches and bleeps across digital exclusive 'Transition' |

Hot on the heels of dropping a
double LP's worth of downtempo shenanigans for Fresh 86, Coco Bryce serves up
another full length album, this time for his own Myor imprint. Computer Love
sees the bpm's being turned up a notch again, mainly operating within the 160
realm, whilst taking the occasional side street into UKG and breakbeat house.
Although the jungle and D&B vibes are still clearly present on tunes such
as House Music and the previously released singles Night Safari and Trust
Issues, Coco opts for slightly more off-kilter and genre-defying drum
programming on the album's title track and the pleasantly subdued Eye New.
All in all the rhythmic, and stylistic, diversity on display here makes for
an album equally suited for dancefloors and home listening alike |

versions of summer-ish Italo-Disco tracks, selected from its vast catalog to
commemorate in advance its 40th anniversary (1983-2023). "Takes
Over" is compiled by Nello Jay, remastered by Dom Scuteri and produced
by BEST Record. Some epic Cruisin' hits right here of which most are released
in 1985. Up beat tracks that havent had the same amount of shine as some of
the well known hits. These tracks might be unexplored, but exactly for this
reason considered more engaging and intriguing whetting the appetite of
followers and lovers of true and genuine Italo-Disco. The compilation could
only begin and end with one of the most representative artists of Cruisin': Max-Him,
whose most loved creatures are the sensational "Japanese Girl",
where the sublime melody and the vocal skills of Massimo Vaccari stand out,
and "Lady Fantasy" in the amazing remix version. The sound is
powerful and the rhythm is always supported by the choral and structured
"For Your Sweet Information" by the fantastic P.J. Marcus, stage
name of the singer-saxophonist James Thompson. Then, we have the pleasant
surprise that comes out of Ennio Manuel's magic top hat: Roxana, sublime
interpreter of a danceable piece "In Your Eyes", whose melodic
text... Je t'aime mon amour, I love you , Ich hab dich gern... were very
popular in gay clubs all over Europe. "Heigh Ho" is a simple and
catchy theme with a great arrangement. The piece sung by Fabian Nesti has
such power that even today you never get tired of listening and dancing.
Another exceptional piece of pure electricity is "I Need Your Love"
where the male and female voices of the Midnight Passion marry perfectly in

musician in the world, Bob Marley was not yet a household name at that time.
Nevertheless, he often stood in his shadow later, wrongly so, because he took
a completely different way. Jimmy Cliff does not belong to the Rastafarian
movement, was never restricted musically to Reggae and also made his mark as
a songwriter and actor. For the Reggae cult-movie „The Harder They Come“
Cliff provided the soundtrack and was also cast for the main character. He
played with the Rolling Stones, Sting, Kool & The Gang and many other

time before DJs Luca Lozano and Dawl collaborated on a record, the two
artists have been circling each other in orbit for years now. 'Cybernetik
Synergy' plays on the virtual space created between the two producers while
working online, the tracks on the EP were sketched out, passed back and forth
in folders until they were finished...meaning the artists never actually met
in person. The result is both bleepy and breaky, its a rave record that takes
in the duo's influences and love of old classic dance hits. The theme of

Winston ('Mr Fix It') Francis originally recorded this song in 1968 at the
legendary Studio 1 in Jamaica. The music was written, arranged &
performed by maestro's Jackie Mittoo (who had to be woken from sleeping under
the piano that day) & Ernest Ranglin. Many official (& unofficial)
versions of varying quality have been issued over the years, this recording
by 'Change The Mood' band, has been made with respectful & diligent
attention to the Studio 1 sound as well as the music. Winston himself (now in
his 80th year!) voiced the track again as freshly as ever (over 50 years
after the first time) & added a little extra lyric and Jamaican spice

Esteemed soul crooner Sam Cooke
achieved much in a short space of time, notching 29 top-40 singles in his
seven-year solo career. On Night Beat, released in 1963, Rene Hall's tasteful
arrangements allow Cooke's voice to shine, most notably on 'lost And Lookin':
jump blues standards 'Shake Rattle And Roll' and 'Little Red Rooster' are
playfully rendered, with Billy Preston's organ on the latter. Originals 'Mean
Old World' and 'Laughin' And Clownin' remind of his strong song-writing
ability and his spirited take of 'Nobody Knows The Trouble I've Seen'
recalled his days with the Soul Stirrers. A prime album for all Cooke fans!
