Techno outfit BARE HANDS presents
BAREHANDS004 by Duo STOCK PROJECTS, a live project from the Labels viennese
orbit. Manuel and Julian (Bedlam) experiment in different Setups on the
fringes of modernist Techno. Working about freely allows them to keep a spontaneous
Jam feel to their music. Utilizing whatever hard and software they can get
their hands on, their tracks levitate from straight-up punchiness to subbed,
backstabbing synths and more eclectic notes. Side A (/) Opens with kickless
track „NUCK CHARMS“, builds up the tension needed for brute, peak energy live
cut, “DELIA’S DENTIST”. „STEADY ON THE BRAKE“ however, plays with the
expectation of a kick drum, setting the focus on a sneaky synth line,
delivering dynamic to the early stages of a set. On Side B (//) The opener
“JETSUN” sets foot into more field-tested territories of Techno with an
expansive bassline and driving percussions. „WALDO’S MOMENT“, the track
after, provides an electro framework, coated in overly dramatic arabesque
melodics |

Aphrohead's
first full-length album, Resurrection, in over decade has recently been
released, one of the standout tracks 'Grown Man Cryy' sees a single release
complete with a superb Carl Craig 'Brainy Grimlin' rework. A heavy Detroit
influence can be heard in the Aphrohead classic 'Grown Man Cryy', fittingly
reworked by the master of the techno scene Carl Craig into a pulsating anthem
suspended in time. The original cut (as put into words by DJ Mag) acts to
'remind the world of the depths of talent and personality that made Aphrohead
such a perennial force previously.' Aphrohead created a precedent in 90's
techno on halcyon labels Bush, Global Cuts, Power Music, Thee Black Label
& Radical Fear. His Felix Da Housecat alias went on to form the epicentre
of the electro-clash scene and it was through this alias his friendship began
with Crosstown Rebels pioneer Damian Lazarus, then at City Rockers. Carl
Craig is a key player in Detroit's techno sound, recently releasing 'The KMS
remixes' and consistently delivering on his own Planet E label |

Following
on from his Floorplan album and November's Floorplan EP, Robert Hood returns
with a new double header on M-Plant, to close 2013. It's proven to be another
incredible year for Robert Hood. On the production front we've witnessed two
singles from his 'Motor: Nighttime World 3' album on Music Man, with remixes
by Ø [Phase] and UR's Mad Mike, the release of his long-awaited debut
Floorplan album, 'Paradise', followed by the recent Floorplan EP, as well as
the sterling remixes he's turned out for other artists. A demanding DJ and
live schedule has seen him continue to bring his unique sound, first-rate
skills and spiritual attitude around the globe, whether it's in clubs, at
festivals or other sessions, like his astounding RBMA Radio / Boiler Room
take-over from Mutek or his recent mix for Fact mag's 400th podcast. Keeping
up this momentum, Robert Hood delivers these two new cuts of pulsating,
body-moving Techno with that classic, deep and minimal Hood sound. He builds
'Eleven' and 'Alarm', layer upon layer, gradually drawing all the elements
together, until they become a penetrating attack on the senses |

This
year Robert Hood celebrates the 20th anniversary of his M-Plant label with a
sequence of EPs featuring classic M-Plant releases and rarities remixed and
re-edited, a compilation bringing Hood's huge body of work together and a
series of special events. Kicking off the EP releases, UK techno stalwart
Mark Broom delivers these exceptional edits of 'Untitled 1' from Hood's
series 'Moveable Parts' and 'One Touch' from the 'Minimal Nation' album.
Released in 1995 'Moveable Parts Chapter 1' was seen by many as one of Hood's
greatest EPs. This four-tracker opened with the heavy-hitting 909 and dappled
metallic sounds of 'Untitled 1'. Now, Mark Broom's edit adds even further
depth and a dirty funk feeling to this hypnotic dancefloor killer. In 1994
Robert Hood first released his game-changing 'Minimal Nation' album. It was
so influential that a special edition of this iconic masterpiece was released
in 2009 and still sounded as fresh as ever with its stripped-back grooves
inspiring a new generation of techno producers as it had over a decade before |

Martin's Escape From South Warren
LP will arrive on October 5th on the label operated by Frank Juncaj, AKA DJ
3000. Juncaj calls Martin an "unsung hero of Detroit techno" and
cites his label, Teknotika Records, which has been running since 1993, as a
key influence. The first remix EP, due out September 21st, features reworks
by Robert Hood and DJ 3000 in addition to two original cuts. Mark Broom and
Rolando contribute to the second EP, which arrives on October 12th |

La Polla Records and Eskorbuto are two of the bands that have influenced me
the most, on a musical and personal level, since I got into the punk scene in
the mid-90s when I was 15 years old. 20 years later, I still think they are
very special. I had the opportunity to meet Evaristo when I organized a show
for La Polla Records in 2000. He is one of my favourite writers, he was
definitely born to do what he does. With Eskorbuto, I have no doubts that if
Iosu and Juanma were still alive they would be doing incredible things |
