Correspondant mainstay, Man
Power, returns with his first artist EP for the label since his debut, the
"Kiloton EP" back in 2014. A lot has changed for the artist since
Kiloton, with 2015 seeing the release of his self titled Album (also via Correspondant)
which not only gained an unprecedented 10/10 in Mixmag, but was also named as
one of the Electronic albums of the year by iTunes US. Additionally, the last
year has seen the artist DJ around the world, release original material and
remixes for numerous labels, and was capped by his being named as one of
XLR8R's best new artists of 2015. The "Planet Cock EP" represents
some of Man Power's most dance-floor directed work to date, veering from the
arpeggiated big room techno-funk of "Stunt Cock", to the stuttering
analogue stomping of "The Temple", and rounded off by some
breaked-up-neo-electro-with-a-middle-eastern-twist () as displayed on

(first pressing on marbled orange

Millions Of Moments fame. Everybody knows Microworld from his legendary EP on
Derrick May's Transmat label in 1999. His output has been rather limited
since then, with only a handful of releases on labels like Styrax Leaves and
Millions Of Moments. He sent us a demo because he liked our recent releases
and we were thrilled to say the least. The best Detroit techno to come out of
Australia, and that's a fact! :-) First pressing on marbled orange 10"

Chris Moss Acid returns to Don't
for a follow up to last year's 'The Acid That Ate Bournemouth' with 4 tracks
of blistering proportions. 'The Joker' is a twisted and squelchy hard nosed
House/Techno hybrid that punches through a sound system, while 'Pumped Up MF'
nestles coyly between Ghetto/Booty and Acid with a suggestive bassline
ripping things apart. On the flip, more mayhem with 'DP Acid' which is as
derranged as they come before the EP closes in magnificent style with
'Elektra', Electro's answer to Bohemian Rhapsody |

As
EPM turns into its 15th year of techno service we celebrate with a limited
vinyl repress of the most highly sought after release on the label. ‘Debbie’s
Groove’ by Carl Taylor, featuring the now legendary disco-tech stormer of a
remix from the one and only Robert Hood. After a string of EPs on EPM Music
and his own Auterform label as well as the release of his second studio album
‘True Faith’ (EPM14), Carl released this tech-housin’ EP. ‘Debbie’s Groove’
sees Carl in full on jacking mode, with tinges of disco and a stomping beat
that will see you heading straight for the nearest dancefloor. Studio 54
anyone? Robert Hood turns his hand to ‘Debbie’s Groove’ adding that magic
touch, with a deep bassline, funky claps and a vocal snippet that echoes his Floorplan
sound alongside the tougher tech workouts we’re used to hearing from this
master technician. Turning our heads back to Carl Taylor, ‘Good Vibrations’
gives us a deeper blend of the house meets techno sound that Carl has become
known for, with its tough syncopated groove reaching dizzying heights. If
this release doesn’t get you in the party mood, nothing will! |

Melbourne-based Vohkinne joins
Kynant with the 'Wind Shadows' EP. Its title track is a grinding techno trip
with stop-start drums to switch up the rhythm in a room. The two B-side cuts
are straighter dancefloor fare. The first, ‘Watching Over Us’, is a thick and
heavy, hypnotising 4x4 track, ‘The Heretic’ more dynamic and unpredictable.
Mastered by Neel (EnissLab Studio, Rome). Pressed on 180g, 12” vinyl at

Maeve
09 is a special record. It welcomes the return of one of the founding members
of the label, Baikal. Although the Dutchman has had somewhat of a hiatus from
releasing music, his hard work and struggle with the process of creating
forward thinking electronic music has always continued. Pelican's Flight'
reaps the rewards of this carefully nurtured process and proves most
definitely it was worth the wait. The title track Pelican's Flight' is a
mesmerizing ten-minute techno trip. A throbbing kick drum is decorated with
sparkling synth lines all moving on their own orbit creating a trance like
effect on the dance floor. The pinnacle of the trip hears rasping chords
blast through the swell in a glorious moment of elation, in short this is a
bomb. The B-side All Forces Occur In Pairs' goes deeper again, drawing the
listener into a similar hypnotic state. Various sonic ideas breathe in and
out of the foreground creating a swirl of expectancy and excitement. This
track will cause you to close your eyes and be carried away to another
dimension... Maeve are honored to add this record to their repertoire |

It's
almost hard to believe that the original series of "Planetary Funk"
12"s by Planetary Assault Systems dates back to the early 1990s, given
the continued relevance of this hard-edged suite of tracks, and their ease of
integration into present-day techno sets. Characterized by their unflagging
momentum and by almost militaristic deployment of techno's atomic particles -
submachine-gun handclaps, acid-soaked bass patterns, the icy chatter of ride
and hi-hat cymbals - the spirit of these tracks has never really vacated the
club scene. The 21st century re-activation of the Planetary Funk moniker
isn't a nostalgic look backwards so much as an expansion of its original
mission. Leading off the proceedings on this first volume is "Dungeon,"
a 1997 original from P.A.S. which already shows this unit transitioning from
the fierce, frantic atmosphere of the earlier Planetary Funk EPs into
something more akin to the project's present-day approach: not more
"laid back" by a long shot, but more mesmerizing and loaded with
anticipation |

Fresh
off of his re-activation of the seminal "Planetary Funk" series,
Luke Slater delivers another new 12" with all of the purposeful
intensity and sonic clarity to be expected from his celebrated Planetary
Assault Systems alias. Pairing both an original mix and a spirited re-working
by Josh Wink, "Kat" is a winning synthesis of all the elements that
make P.A.S. such a continually relevant player in the game of moving bodies
and opening minds: it once again pushes beat-driven sound to disciplined
extremes, but not without clearly detectable traces of humor and playfulness.
As vocal repetition of the track's simplistic and suggestive title is run
through a maze of filters, pitch-shifts and delays, an equally busy set of
tubular bass figures mirrors this approach and meshes with the insistent
rhythm. Carefully inserted hard stops, crafty fading of sound from background
to foreground, and unexpected breakdowns give the track a kind of restless
feel that ensures its success as a peak hour selection, or as a reliable
companion on inner-city underground transit journeys. While the original mix
on the b-side begins in a more subdued fashion, it isn't lacking at all in
concentrated energy |

After
making his moustachioed mark on 2014 with a dazzling debut LP of tropical
lounge brilliance, Todd Terje spent 2015 blazing a bearded trail across the
globe with a series of swashbuckling live performances and eagerly received
remix 12"s. Satisfied with a job well done, the prince of Norwegian
disco spent the winter break in the comfort of his record room, savouring the
classics while the eggnog flowed. Inspired by those dusty discs and one too
many Ferrero Rocher, an idea took shape and now it's reissue time! Hot off
the Olsen press comes Dansbar #1, the first in a brand new series aiming to
shine some much needed light on the lost history of Norway's disco
underground. First in the firing line is Beranek's mad capped morality tale,
'Dra Te Hælvete', a mislaid classic much loved by the most adventurous DJs in
the Scandinavian circuit. Originally released as a 7" on Mind Expanding
Records in 1981, 'Dra Te Hælvete' (or 'Go To Hell' if you've let your
Norwegian slip) tells the tale of a proto-Inspector Norse, cruising the
streets on the hunt for a high. Short on cash and all out of options, he
falls prey to the dealer and the devil, hooked on heroin and gone to hell |

R&S are proud to introduce
Paula Temple to the fold. Her first release 'Speck Of The Future' was way
back in 2002 and gained her the support of Jeff Mills, Claude Young, Dave
Clarke and the late John Peel amongst others. After co-developing one of the
first midi controllers for DJ/live performance and teaching kids in her
neighbourhood how to DJ, Paula Temple finally returns to her first love -
techno music. 'To me it has always been about never settling for a standard,
it's really about freedom, sounds that shatter the edges and our attitude as
well.' As a self-confessed Noisician, her signature sound is an exploration
of harmonics countering dissonance 'Where the two meet - that is where the
most interesting tension lives for me. Those intersections give me the
shivers, where I feel most alive.' Inspirations for all three tracks came
from 'imagining what it would sound like to resist the control systems we
encounter every day, to refuse standardisation and covert forms of
colonization.' |

Token followers can rejoice that now, 2014,
Surgeon finally makes his official debut on the label. Fixed Action Pattern
comes as prequel to Aphelion, a forthcoming compilation of new and exclusive
material. Aphelion will differ from last year's Token Introspective mix CD by
providing a collection of bespoke productions from Token regulars and
like-minded artists who were commissioned by label owner Kr!z to bring their
individual and complimenting sound to the Belgian imprint's all-consuming
48th release. Following this Surgeon 12", Rødhåd will release his second
record for Token before the final unveiling of Aphelion. Anthony Child has
appeared on Token once before in 2008 remixing Grovskopa's Sex & Violins,
and while regularly supporting the label's music in his DJ sets, it's been a
long awaited six years for UK techno's most trusted producer to resurface on
an imprint he's helped inspire and influence |
