The Free Fall Galaxy is what we
could call a cosmic menace - a threat to all that it encounters. It is a dark
space in Time that shows no mercy for its prey as it devours for the means of
survival. Unlike the Galaxies humanity know and recognize; the spiral,
elliptical and abnormal galaxies, the Free Fall doesn’t seem to have a
consistent character that we rationalize, but one thing that we do know is
that it endlessly consumes without becoming larger in mass or size. Where the
cosmic matter goes after it’s eaten is a mystery that we struggle to imagine.
As a nomadic hunter, we must assume that this Galaxy holds the information
that unlocks many galactic mysterious.Nature indicates that maybe Earth has
already been consumed by this Galaxy - that our accelerating sense of
cyclical Time versus the decline and deterioration of matter demonstrates a
conflicting circumstance that could be the result of the digestion. Not the
indication of out-right growth and fortification |

Umek
reprises his Zeta Reticula moniker for a welcome return to Billy Nasty's
Electrix label with an innovative EP comprised of 4 new tracks, split between
the two spheres of Electro and Techno. The Slovenian-born DJ and producer
should need no introduction, boasting more than two decades of experience,
playing the world over, producing music for labels like Toolroom, Spinnin',
Great Stuff, Intec or his own imprint, 1605 to name just a few, or presenting
his hugely popular weekly radio show, Behind the Iron Curtain. It's been some
time since a Zeta Reticula release on Electrix, with 'EP 1' to 'EP 4'
surfacing on the label between 2000 and 2003, although Umek has continued the
project more recently with tracks on 1605. The A-Side of 'EP 5' delivers some
Electro flavour, opening with the serious Electro-funk of 'Electric Blood
Complete', before the vintage sci-fi electronics and playful rave stabs of
'Euphonious'. Over on the B-Side the Techno takes over with the deep and
dub-drenched 'Encroach' followed by the tough Housey grooves of 'Radiate' to
complete this bold package |

OVERVIEW:
Next up to close out a hefty year of DJ-Kicks releases is one Daniel Avery,
bringing with him two exclusive new tracks and a host of techno heavy goods.
In his own words: "To me, the most appealing thing about electronic
music is that it requires time and patience to fully enjoy. It’s about
becoming lost in the repetition and the atmosphere. The warmth of the kick
drum. It’s important to remember to take a breath in this world. The studio
and the club can offer similar experiences in that regard but it never feel
like it’s running away from things. It’s almost the opposite: it’s in those
moments where we stop that we can feel the most alive. We’re constantly being
told that modern generations have no attention span but it’s simply not true.
There is more out there to distract us but we have not changed as humans.
Kids now want to go and listen to a DJ play for ten hours and become locked
in their world. A mix CD, like an album, is designed to be listened to from
beginning to end. It’s something I still firmly believe in." Includes
two exclusive tracks from Daniel Avery

Tensal is a solo project of
Héctor Sandoval, a leading Spanish techno artist with an accomplished
discography spanning 20 years, primarily as half of Exium. The four tracks on
his ‘Opposite Inertia’ EP are each marked by the classic synth focus that
defines the Tensal project, but cover separate moods within techno. 'Inertia
1' rolls out with unusual and off-kilter groove, whilst hi hats and sliding
sub notes grow in intensity to the end. Inertia 2 and 3 are the peak time
cuts. The first is all synth bleeps and a pumping low-end, the second more
hyperactive with its flurry of tightly-wound bass and steely percussion.
'Inertia 4' brings the pace back down to a measured and more atmospheric
close, tailored to the warm-up or time-out moments in a DJ set |

Five
years after his last album release Luke Slater returns to Ostgut Ton with a
new Planetary Assault Systems longplayer, titled Arc Angel. After 22
light-years Luke Slater’s Planetary Assault Systems keeps exploring space and
time with different musical means. Staying true to the project’s initial
mission statement, Slater comments on the new yet familiar musical direction:
“For me music has to go forward. I’d feel I was cheating by sticking to tried
and tested formulas. There’s a valid use for these, but this album has its
own agenda.” With Arc Angel, Planetary Assault Systems departs to new musical
frontiers by focussing on melody, but staying rooted in the purist values of
Techno that Slater shaped over his decades- and generations-spanning career.
While the album title may sound like a reference to spiritual matters, it
hints to rather secular affairs – piety is a relict of the past after all.
Arc Angel is a postmodernist, non-comfortist Techno album first and foremost,
catering as much for club contexts as for accessibility in new melodic terms.
Long-standing Slater followers will seamlessly connect to Arc Angel, whereas
the LP opens space to new listeners at the same time |

Anton Pieete is known for his
classic, textured take on House & Techno. The Dutchman has spent recent
years exploring the reaches of his analogue set up, releasing a string of
hugely popular EPs for Joris Voorns Rejected imprint. Now he turns over his
latest wares to Ovum, with another impressive offering in the shape of
TheMenu. While it may be our starter; first dish Peven is definitely more of
a main course. Heady and intoxicating with itspercussive, funky drums and
undulating keys, its carries us on its woozy wave of rich analogue bass. Our
appetite is further satisfied by the deeper sophisticated tones of Lite
Green. Its malleable, swinging groove is governed by its pulsating bassline
and dense kick-drum as lazer synths sweep and claps fire on thisclassy cosmic
jam. BN300s dramatic and ghostly strings are at odds with its frenetic
bouncing bass melody and yet together theywork in complete harmony to create
our final musical indulgence from The Menu |

Whereas
many electronic producers aim at being the most prolific in their genre, or
the most extreme, Lucy and Rrose have wisely chosen to be the most
consistently curiosity-provoking representatives of their craft. Their
decision to team up as a production duo for the newest Stroboscopic Artefacts
EP may have seemed inevitable, given their shared responsibility for shifting
techno’s focus towards the facilitation of profound psycho-acoustic effects.
And yet, even those who saw this coming will still be in for a wild ride.
Lucy’s skill as a studio technician - displayed capably over his trilogy of
full-length albums - has always been enhanced by his skill as a storyteller
and as an artist with reverence towards myths and the pull of the unknown.
This sonic personality is a perfect complement to the scientific severity of
Rrose, for whom the electronic pulse beat and subsonic massage permit entry
to a febrile psychic landscape whose contents are never entirely what the
individual listener might expect or be prepared for |

After joining the Token family
with the release of Our Father/A Better Way Of Living in 2015, Sigha is back
with another double A-side in the same vein as the last: A booming,
atmospheric achievement, once again showcasing his signature attention to
detail and exploring the concepts of purity, faith and religion. The
resounding intensity of Christ Figures is layered with emotive and staccato
melodic elements. At times distant, and then rising to the forefront of the
soundscape; in their more muted moments these elements only hint at the form
of a melody, their restraint heightening the track's sense of melancholic
romanticism. On the other side, Sigha advances on the themes from the track
Puritan on his 2012 album Living with Ghosts. New Puritan offers a similar
hypnotism, with an untiring interaction between mid-range and bass that
demands transfixion from the offset and retains it until the end |

Oscar Mulero is a one-man techno
institution. Operating out of Madrid since the late 1980s, his productions
reflect his deep understanding of techno through his tireless and disciplined
work behind the decks. After his first release on Token in 2008, the
ferocious Take Seven EP, Mulero teamed up with the comparably-accomplished
Christian Wünsch for two more Token releases as Spherical Coordinates,
sophisticated offerings of refined big room and bleep tracks. Now he's back
with another solo 4-track contribution that feels like classic Mulero.
Hyperbolic Paths is simultaneously deep and bleepy, accented by hi-hats in
syncopation. The tom-heavy Suborbital Trajectories carries a serious groove,
layered with lively melodic elements and an occasional unexpected statement
cymbal crash. A haunting and hypnotic number, Inclination swells and
increases in intensity, rolling on after its breakdown with a playful
kick-clap interaction. Eccentricity is a spacious, dubby closing track with
reverb-soaked ornamental splashes |

Ø [Phase]'s 2015 album 'Alone in
Time?' was the second LP in a remarkable line of releases on Token since
2007. Token65 is a retrospective tribute to the record, offering remixes of
two of its tracks. The utilitarian discord of R-Mash is remixed by James
Ruskin & Karl O' Connor (Regis) under their recently-rekindled O/V/R
collaboration. Their interpretation highlights the rattling percussion of the
original and its juxtaposition with the tense and uneasy anti-harmony that
emerges from its pulse. On the other side, Ø [Phase] revisits the album's
title piece. 'Alone in Time?' originally appeared as a restless arrangement,
driven by its fluttering melody and bolstered by a damp, staggering kick. In
its reimagined form, the track is forged into a solid construction for the
dancefloor, with its impatient theme re-appearing as a delirious climax |

Rachmad's extensive collection of projects over the years has provided a
wealth of inspiration in its many forms. Although much of Rachmad's music has
been influential on the development of Token from the beginning, there is one
body of work in particular that encapsulates the essence of the label, in a
classic and inimitable form. Scorp was a self-contained label project
operating between 2000 and 2004. Although not the best known of Rachmad's
many aliases, its importance was not overlooked by discerning tastemakers at
the forefront of the techno movement at the time. Token 66 contains nine
tracks in total selected from these releases, plus one track previously
unreleased from the same period. All of the music has been remastered and
will be available digitally for the first time as well as on a 3LP vinyl
compilation. These ten tracks clearly demonstrate Token's alignment with this
classic sound, exhibiting Rachmad's mathematical precision in employing
bare-bones percussion to captivate, doing away with the formality of a
lengthy introduction and urging a hypnotic state with immediate effect |

Kennedy's relationship with Token spans the label's existence. He set the
mood for what was to come from the very first release: A refined, yet
courageous excursion, instantly recognisable as fitting with his own sonic
identity, cultivated over many years of experience. This sound has become
definitive in the context of Token's output ever since. After his previous
contribution earlier this year, a record thematically obsessed with a line of
obscure interstellar clouds, he's back with another double A-side for our
next release. Surrender begins with with a textured awakening. The
intermixture of slow swells and attentively-dashed accents in a range of
timbres guides us blindly towards a shocking, strident interruption when the
percussion is suddenly introduced with full and resolute force. As the track
continues Kennedy makes sense of the unexpected jolt on our behalf, and the
two opposing inclinations become one. Castles In The Air retains a similar
theme, with the kind of self-awareness that only a producer of Kennedy's
level of maturity can employ. Gloomy, lingering chords begin and then pause,
forcing us to wait expectantly, with more than a moment lingering in reverb |

Trip
006 is an album constructed with the songs of a varied collection of artists,
fast and furious rhythms at times exceeding 140 bpm, live cuts, tracks with a
song structure. The idea behind the album was born the other night from a
very broad conversation I (Nina) and Tombo had on the way people form their
opinions and criticisms. That opinions are reflecting the inner world of the
people who criticise and an opinion should be based on something what it
depends on and how this process has to do with growth, knowledge, self
assurance and self improvement. That all things are relative and all eyes are
different. That in the end it's important to grow and shape your opinion,
make up your own mind. This was the point of inspiration for Tombo - his
artwork representing two worlds and two young boys who are affected by the
'outside', controlled and manipulated. One manages to escape by shaping his
own desires, growth being a matter of choice. Learning that what enables one
to see and understand more, is the freedom from anyone's opinion but your own |

VERSIONS
is the new project that the Spanish artists Psyk and Tadeo materialised in a
new label and live set performance. After many interventions of Tadeo on
Psyk’s Non Series – including his full length Chronicles Of The Future,
released last February- and several DJ sets together incorporating drum
machines in their equipment, the concept took form and will see the light
this autumn. This new venture is an idea Psyk and Tadeo always wanted to
develop as they believe their vision and way to understand music are very
well connected. The project is intended to be as a live set and focused on
the dance floor. Besides, their way to work on the production is based on raw
material and improvisation The recording of the tracks has been completed in
one shot delivering fresh spontaneous jams. The first chapter of the label
presents 3 tracks by the Spanish duo: Intro – Metaphor that leads you into
their cosmic atmospheres in a narrative way, Twisted Forms expands a spatial
trip of synthesisers and drums and Track Two brings you to an hypnotic climax
of funk |
