Following
critically acclaimed releases from Eduardo De La Calle, Refracted, and
Monomood, Connwax returns with another exceptional offering of bold and
original techno. For this release, they have enlisted the help of a rising
young talent in Berlin's underground scene: Akme. The producer and resident
DJ of renowned club ://about blank demonstrates his uncommon technical
precision and emotional depth with this debut EP, drawing on his vast array
of influences and experiences across all genres. In "Elements", the
bass drum takes centre stage. The engine room relentlessly driving everything
forward. Yet as the track develops, a fine lattice work of detail starts to
unfold. Meticulous percussive elements imbue the piece with an enigmatic depth
as a sombre melody sweeps through the rough rhythmic landscape. We are
allowed a brief moment to reflect before the bass drum continues its
inexorable path forward. Akme takes a more reduced approach in "Black
Matter". Space is left for the interplay between the understated acid
bassline and delicate hi-hats to lock the track into a hypnotic groove. Here,
the statement is defined by what is left unsaid |

DREF033 sees the return of two
long time label friends and contributors, the Scottish Deepbass and the
Italian Ness. Despite the fact that both of them are prolific enough solo
acts as it is, once in a while they combine forces and deliver a co-produced masterpiece,
to which the Outer Limits EP is no exception. However, make no mistake: the
fact they have found their signature sound, does not mean they aren't
constantly reinventing themselves. For this occasion, the two have made
sporadical use of euphorical synth sounds, even gently alluding to trance at
some point. Apart from that, they have adequately built their ever-evolving
soundscapes upon subtly processed percussion. A welcome addition to the two
original tracks presents itself in the form of the talented producer Shlomo.
The Frenchman has given his version of Outer Limits a powerful breakbeat
foundation, making this EP into more of what it already was: a match made in
heaven |

opus of his CD mix series Unknown Landscapes Vol 4: a compilation of
unreleased tracks, mixed and compiled by a member of the PoleGroup platform.
To make up the fourth volume, Juan Rico, has selected 22 previously
unreleased tracks. Besides tracks by Reeko, Exium, Kwartz, Jonas Kopp,
Pfirter and Oscar Mulero, the tracklist includes works by many new faces at
the label, such as Reggy van Oers, DJ Hyperactive, Unbalance and Kangding
Ray. With this fourth volume, PoleGroup invites you to discover a powerful

Sonic
Groove Records further ignites2017 with the label's second release of the
year by FIXMER / MCCARTHY titled ' Chemicals.' The legendary Douglas J.
McCarthy, founder and frontman of the seminal and pioneering EBM project
Nitzer Ebb, continues his alliance with Contemporary Techno producer Terence
Fixmer together lending to the electronic music landscape with their combined
artistic initiative. The A side of this 3 track e.p. presents the title track
' Chemicals ' in two forms; the original version and an instrumental version.
The evolution of the sound that first surfaced in 2003 on Terence Fixmer's
own, Lille, France based imprint Planet Rouge is apparent on this new
installment in the FIXMER/MCCARTHY discography. ' Chemicals ' original
version is a triumphant echo of EBM/Techno fusion constructed with current
innovative electronic music production that retains the aesthetic of the
original sound of EBM combined with the power of Douglas J. McCarthy's
defining vocal style. The fine auditory balance is all the neural support
needed to effectively compliment McCarthy's deep and thunderous vocals |

SpunOff opens the first door of a
new french vinyl label, Stratos Rec, with his Portal EP. This label bring us
into an artistic travel between techno to ambient, experimental music and
art. It aims at being a little different, inviting at each release a guest
who is totally free to do an edit of the originals tracks as he want, and a
part of the artwork of the vinyl. We want to confront different styles and
brains and let's see what's happens. For the STR001, the young Parisian,
SpunOff, give us three powerful, dark & energetic techno tracks. The
guest is above all a visual artist. But also a Dj & producer. Brother of
the famous Richie Hawtin, Matthew takes parts of different originals tracks
and constitute a eight minutes ambient & experimental edit. Definitly an

Perc & Truss rework two key
cuts, taken from Mumdance & Logos' debut album 'Proto' and deliver us a
pair of hard-as-nails techno bangers. 'Move Your Body' is mutated from the
hardcore-referencing original into a searing industrial belter. Perc &
Truss' version makes use of distorted 808 drums and rising machine noise to
ramp up the tension before eventually dropping out to the 'move your body'
vocal sample and unleashing a terrorising acid line. Dancefloor killer. Flip
for 'Hall Of Mirrors' which sees the pair re-route Mumdance & Logos'
original into a 4/4 roller, peppered with metallic percussive hits and and a
robotic bass riff. Hard, uncompromising techno built just the way it should

Taking
charge of the first release is Lucy, who has evolved his distinct sound
signature by reconciling the deeply personal with the esoteric, and by
harmonizing the spheres of technology and biology. Whether he is acting in
the role of producer, DJ, performer, or Stroboscopic Artefacts' curator,
Lucy's clear passion for creative evolution and mutation is something that
continues to attract new listeners, and keeps giving his current supporters
new reasons to continue tuning in. EP opener 'The Hermit' is eight minutes of
spacious and cerebral techno. Rolling drums are buried deep as little flecks
of sound design peel off the groove. Occasional bell hits bring a sombre and
languid feel despite the drive of the drums, and it is the sort of perfectly
absorbing track that will suck you down a 5am rabbit hole. On the flip, 'The
High Priestess' is a similarly mental work out that is empty and eerie, with
distant drones and yawning pads outlining a vast underground space. The drums
here are again rubbery and rolling, but a little more prominent, and the
whole thing manages to be both soothing and unsettling. After this fine EP
starts the label in style, a remix EP from Blawan will follow |
