A new label services deal with
!K7 was announced this year that will see the relaunch of the Two Hundred
& Forty Volts label and for the first time ever the entire Swayzak back
catalogue will be made available digitally on October 28. To celebrate the
re-launch and ultimately draw a line under the old material a 19 track
retrospective will released shortly afterwards on Dec 1. The 'Lost Tapes'
compilation will include some of their seminal classics, unreleased versions
and a brand new single from Swayzak & Richard Davis, all paving way for
the new album next year |

The
prolific DJ, producer and lord of the Slovenian undergound, Umek has been a
long standing figure on the international Techno scene and produced countless
EPs and remixes since his production debut over a decade ago. Now, freshly
primed for action in today‘s high-tech club culture, Umek brings us three
exclusive tracks full of funk, attitude and substance! The title track,
‚Intense Emotion‘ is an energetic, bouncing bomb that relies on sharp synth
stabs to flavour an already delicious concoction of tight beats and cooly
refined basslines. The wandering synths fill the spectrum and really lift
things off as the track picks up speed, throwing us toward the pushing
climax. With a much dryer, minimal approach, ‚Take A Look‘ burns brightly at
the other end of the sonic spectrum, with its careful fills, effects and
tripped out bending synth mayhem. Its a killer track for the more demented
dancers out there, and shows how Umek‘s unique understanding of the
dancefloor extends to all corridors of the four-tothe- floor genre! ‚Dialogue

The man never fails to impress as he steers away from his acclaimed
“fast-loopy-techno-drums-grooves” and explores and deeper techno territories
with this “Choose EP". Both sides are two great Samuel’s interpretation

Artefakt come from the deepest
branch of techno. The partnership of Robin Koek (Cyspe) and Nick Lapien
(Metropolis, Rhine) have explored subterranean caverns, dense forests and
unknown lands on labels like Prologue, Field and Delsin and their latest three
track expedition on DSC continues that journey into the beyond.
"Raid" is a near nine minute odyssey, a trip into shimmering
cymbals, acid growls, placid lakes and ritualistic rhythms. The flip finds a
breaking in the dense foliage: "The Radiant City", a sanctuary of
soaring strings, soothing pads and entrancing harmonies.
"Lichtspiel" writes a different tale. Muted tones are ruffled by an
industrial edge, the hand of man and the rise of the machine blended with a

Delsin Records' Inertia series is
back with a powerful four tracker from Yan Cook. The producer from Ukraine
has also released Delsin's main label and associated Ann Aimee, as well as
Planet Rhythm and Cooked. He makes straight up techno that arrests your
attention and does just that again here. 'Toucan' is first and is a spangled,
underwater techno track with gurgling lines wrapping round shuffling
percussion and insistent drums. It's one to get into your head, while
'Puffin' is more physical, with more warped synths and paddy drums woven
together into a fluid, rippling groove that never lets up. The drums on
'Dialogue' are deep and land with real resonance while dubby chords rattling
out to the horizon. Last of all 'Flamingo' is the most manic of the lot, with
hi speed synths and booming drums all coming together to make for powerful,
sub shaking and room filling techno madness |

American DJ & producer Eric
Estornel AKA Maceo Plex is set to relaunch his old moniker called Mariel Ito
in 2018. The mysterious alias was active during the early 2000’s and
flourished from Estornel’s experimentation on electro sounds before he would
become known worldwide as Maceo Plex. He delivered a bunch of releases under
this moniker during 2005 and 2006 including an EP on Modern Love and an album
on SCSI-AV, to name a few.Estornel will come back with a first Mariel Ito EP
in 12 years. This new single titled ‘2e Komst’ will land on January 26th on
his fresh imprint Lone Romantic, that he launched with the recent Maceo Plex
LP ‘Solar’ last summer. The EP brings two new tracks ‘Sintex49’ and ‘Dmode90’
that illustrates the electro edge of his sound with the recognizable obscure

Returning victorious to M-Plant
after the Floorplan album and EP takeover, Robert Hood, whose work under his
own name has continued to garner equal support with the 'Paradygm Shift'
series for Dekmantel, brings the heat with this triple-tracker. The original
minimal techno master wastes no time with 'Clocks'. There's a sense of
urgency as the track builds, looping into its crescendo with waves of
staccato hi-hats. Tick tock, tick tock. Over on the flip side there's a
familiarity in the opening chords of 'Low Life' that will resonate with fans
of Hood's work. Instantly recognisable, it's stamped with his ability to
bring funk and groove to the colder stomp of techno. Final opus, 'Go' brings
a spiralling samba tempo to the dancefloor. The punchy drumbeat is interwoven
with sweeping cymbals for a highly effective infectiousness, like a call to

Scientists. White lab coats. The
whirr of computers. SC-164 was a sonic experiment. Greg Schappert, an
electronic musician known as Donor, was the willing subject. Its purpose? To
melt man and computer in audio form, machine music created by an artificial
being. But soon it became too powerful, self aware. The creators tried to
pull the plug. They were too late. Now this assailant floats from machine to
machine, communicating its message through serrated snares and bruising bass.

mean feat and to celebrate the dutch label is returning to one of its
stalwarts, Ed Upton aka DMX Krew. For this very special 12" the veteran
audio alchemist conjures up five tracks of machine music magic. Squirming, acid
soaked electro forms and melts in "Bush Baby Bug Eyes" before the
shapeshifting "EQShift Trak." "Language Reponse" goes up
a gear, rhythms zipping along on a highway of bright bars as synth lines beam
warmth. The flip skids into the corners for the chiptune freshness of

Mysterious newcomer Banke
delivers a profound debut for TOKEN81. The Totem EP's tempered sophistication
and clear sense of purpose belies Banke's neophyte status, establishing him
instead in the ranks of Token's most experienced artists in terms of skill
and ingenuity. Simenon's tense introduction is met with understated, yet
unmistakable fragments of Detroit in the form of a hypnotic, high-end
glissando, rolling drum work and built-up tasteful stabs. Cheerlead's
delicate trill is mimicked and answered in a hypnotic call-and-response over
a carefully measured low-end. Totem, the title track, has a traditionalist
opening that's purposeful and composed, with Banke patiently building tension
