It
has been a little over a year since the release of 747's debut album, in
which the Canadian masterfully drew notes of inspiration from the 90s to
create an enchanting hour-long dream. In his first EP since, 747 returns from
a temporal leap, bringing with him a blend of sounds and expressions to forge
a timeless trip which hinges on the sounds of the 303. Opening the release,
"you, you" unfolds with a gentle and shimmery padded ambiance of
anticipation. Gentle and light-footed percussion is soon interrupted by a
dramatic siren, a warning beacon. Frenetic energy ensues, a frantic rush to
the floor met with a cloudy head. Encompassed in an envelope of disorienting
wailing and intermittent buzzing, but finally grounded by the familiarity of
a 4/4 bass drum. "Does Anybody Remember Laughter?" steps in to
relinquish the force of gravity. The animated arpeggio and gleaming singing
acid line rise up, uncovering the kaleidoscopic nature of the structural
surroundings. "While My 303 Gently Weeps" divulges further,
exposing an underlying grid of dark geometry - binary and robotic |

Today,
the Berlin-based artist, DJ and producer BOYS NOIZE (Alex Ridha) announces
the release of two new songs on July 16th via his imprint BNR. BOYS NOIZE’s
tear-out run of collaborative singles will continue with (+)side
"Nude", this time partnering up with Estonian avant-gardist TOMMY
CASH, and (-)side "Xpress Yourself". A synapse-flooding contrasting
climax of soaring euphoria, (+)side “Nude” combines lighters-in-the-air, peak
rave-era pads (think Orbital or Underworld) with Cash's seductive hook,
before the track drops into thundering tribal percussion, the vast shape of
the song’s aural space echolocated by atonal samples and screeches. First
working together on TOMMY CASH’s album ¥€$, the two iconoclasts´ shared
appreciation of ex-Soviet rave culture is expressed through “Nude’s”
aggressively liberatory, retro-future-shocked sound. The accompanying
official music video is directed by Ridha´s frequent collaborator SUS BOY
(Lil Peep, WEDIDIT). "Xpress Yourself" on the (-)side stretches
across time in its production, sound, and origins to deliver a techno tool of
dark perfection |

Blueprint returns with its final
release for 2020, which sees label head, James Ruskin once again join forces
with long-term collaborator, Mark Broom. It's been almost 2 years since the
last Ruskin and Broom EP ('Domwen' - BP053), and in that time these two UK
icons have continued to dominate with astounding solo work as well as their
more experimental project, The Fear Ratio, releasing their third stunning
album back in March for Skam. Returning to their Techno bunker, Ruskin and
Broom now deliver four new tracks of 'Basement Jams' to close the year.
Expect heavyweight basslines, sharp stabs, tough grooves and a high level of
funk to the metallic sonics that sets them apart from other releases |

A bastion for British Techno,
Blueprint Records was originally founded in 1996 by James Ruskin and the late
Richard Polson and since then has continued to be at the forefront of
cutting-edge labels. To celebrate its 25th anniversary are a series of releases
from Ruskin and other featured artists. The first of these is James Ruskin's
latest solo EP, 'Shortcut', which features three typically sublime Techno
cuts from the driving title track, via the deeper rhythms of 'Hang Up' to the
experimental 'Drums Eyes'. It will be followed in the coming months by a
Truncate and Ruskin EP, a new Ruskin and Broom EP 'Basement Jams 2' and a
special anniversary compilation later in the year |

"After
the recent success of their latest studio album - 3.0, Croatian outfit Cortex
Thrill are back on Bonzai plastic, 26 years since their last Bonzai vinyl
release with the 6 track - 3.0 Vinyl Album Sampler. Still in the throes of
celebrating their 30 years on the scene, Ivo T. Montina, Sven Gleda and
Robert Grizilo make up Cortex Thrill, and together, they dug deep to create
this legacy project across 3 different studios using video conferencing. They
used new production and mastering techniques which shows their dedication and
drive to move with the times. Back in 1994, fresh faced and full of energy,
Cortex Thrill were signed to Bonzai Records and several top-notch 12’s soon
followed as they carved a niche on the scene in just a few short years. Live
P.A.’s all across Europe, propelled them to a bigger stage, playing at top
events including Bonzai party’s Loveparade 2002, Vibe, Fantastica and
Unite-Parade to name just a few. They’ve released over 50 vinyl records and
just as many digital releases. It was Ivo who, after a couple of decades
since they last graced Bonzai Records, decided to send some of their new,
modern material to Bonzai Progressive. Four new releases followed, along with
a raft of remixes for other artists. But Cortex Thrill had remained active
throughout the late 1990’s and 2000’s, releasing several singles and two
albums on various labels, and collaborating with a host of top producers.
They have a unique sound containing elements of tech house, trance and
progressive house. Co-incidentally, this latest adventure on wax features a
contemporary remake of Deep Infinity, one of their bigger tracks which also
appeared on their last vinyl release for Bonzai Records, the 1995 cut titled,
Infiltration EP. This 12inch is packed with deep, undulating rhythms laced
with magical melodies and driven by surging basses |

The 4th acid compilation is
definitely a collectable! With an explicit track from Eat Static which is
produced back in the 90s and has that oldschool goa touch and rave breakbeats
- we love it!!! 303 Airline has his tribute on Flatlife with an excellent pounding
acid techno banger which can be played loud in clubs. Together on the A-side
with DJ Wank; a great acid techno producer from Sweden; pounding driving acid
techno. Then last but not least; label owners Jack Wax (Flatlife Records)
& Sam C. (Dosis Decibel / Cat in the Bag) team up; with this excellent
dark acidcore track "Missing" - which is the 1st track they ever
created together!! 4 styles of acid again on 1 vinyl! Enjoy this one!! |

Out Of Romford and New Decae were
often way ahead of their time, and Statue Of Gold may have been the most
advanced, and therefore the most divisive of the early releases. Combining
trance elements (before that style had been invented) with some heavy techno
elements (before that was part of the old skool rave scene) the track is
definitely marmite. Those that love it do so entirely, and those that
don’t…don’t. Cru-l-t was always a huge fan of the track, and was thrilled to
give it a new mix, leaning into the older jungle style with deep aplomb! |

Musique
Pour La Danse is proud to present SPACED OUT!, a compilation curated by
Belgian artist and producer DJ Athome (Front de Cadeaux) which focuses on
psychedelic dub, space rock, and early electronica created in the UK's
festival scene between 1986 and 1996, the result of a life long passion and
30 years of following artists from the festival scene. It was a loosely
organized British musical movement born in the early 80s and focused on free
festivals in Stonehenge and other countercultural sites across the country.
It represented a continuation of the psychedelic spirit of the 60s, with
altered states of consciousness, dub production techniques, non-Western
influences as well as instruments featuring heavily, along with a desire to
side-step mainstream venues, labels, and attitudes. Musically, it took on
many forms, from mind-expanding space rock to third eye-opening electronica
to shattering psychedelic dub. Visually, the zines, cassettes, LPs, and CDs
created by this scene also displayed heavy influences from 60's psychedelia,
updated for the late 80s and early 90s. In the 90s, the zines and cassettes
reached the eyes and ears of DJ Athome, then a young DJ living in Liège.
After meeting a group of like-minded individuals organizing local gigs which
was single-handedly responsible for putting Liège on the map for many British
bands, he dived headfirst into the sights and the sounds of this festival
scene, gathering as many albums as possible and joining local collectives
involved in the organization of events. This compilation is in equal amounts
an introduction for newcomers and a confirmation for those who already know
that this was without a doubt one of the trippiest and most compelling
psychedelic musical movements of the last decades, notable for its hybridity,
its sincerity, and above all its wonderfully life-changing effects for
listeners and performers alike. The compilation is presented in 2LP format,
along with a limited edition Riso printed scene which features a foreword by
acclaimed philosopher Timothy Morton, along with liner notes by David Borsu,
one of the key players of Liège's musical collectives in the 90s and
illustrations by designer Andrew Beltran |

To open M-Plant's 2021 schedule,
Robert Hood announces the return of the Perpetual Masters series, with his
'Underestimated EP'. The series features classic back catalogue, that's been
newly remastered and made available on vinyl, digital download and streaming.
The 'Underestimated EP' still sounds as fierce as it did when it was
originally released in 1998, delivering Hood's personal style of minimal,
stripped back Techno with crisp beats, powerful build-ups and flawless
grooves; nothing is superfluous here |

'On The Case / The Deal' was originally released on M-Plant's subsidiary
label, Duet back in 2001. At the time Floorplan was still in its infancy with
just a handful of releases on Drama in the '90s, the seminal 'Paradise' album
had yet to be conceived and Robert's daughter Lyric Hood hadn't joined the
party. 20 years later and the tracks have now been re-mastered and are ready
to set dance floors alight once again! |

Anfisa
Letyago hits the ground running with the ambient-infused, chest beating
rhythm - 'Nisida'. Shackling percussion communicates fluently with rattling
hi-hat patterns to create decadent layers of techno elegance. A carefully
modulated synthesiser melody appears to chase the drum sequence throughout
the arrangement's main body, circling gleefully around the stereo field like
a shamanic ritual. Anfisa's own ethereal vocal shots glide through the mix to
establish key moments of anticipation. 'Insidia' sensually evolves into a
dazzling menagerie of rising pads and fizzing synth-lines. A rounded
four-to-the-floor kick drum drives the track with subtle yet consistent
affirmation, the minimalistic approach to the groove's main elements only
serves to bolster the arrangement as one can truly appreciate every layer.
Anfisa boldly follows with 'Not There', a significantly gritty low-end
carries a glimmering arpeggiator ensemble through the entirety of the EP's
closing moments. The undeniable glow of the composition's melodic elements
pairs perfectly with the staggering undertow of kicks and low-slung toms |

(‘Feel The Same’) - the Detroit originator now drops a four track release in
his official debut on the label. With its machine aesthetic, ‘Nothing Stops
Detroit’ is unmistakably Hood from start to finish. Precision kick drums
propel the title track forward as stuttering effects and deep stabs work
alongside a march band rhythm. ‘7 Mile Dog’ is next with its grainy synths
and scintillating pads, making way for the meandering bassline, rattling
atmospherics and trippy, oscillating top line of ‘Ignite A War’. Finally,
‘The Cure’ is a cacophony of twisted percussion and rumbling low-end that
energetically concludes matters |

Detroit
pioneer Robert Hood joins Radio Slave’s Rekids label with a new album
entitled ‘Mirror Man’ this November. A founding member of Underground
Resistance alongside Mad Mike Banks and Jeff Mills, Robert Hood is one of
techno’s originators and his decorated career spans three decades. The
American artist and his M-Plant label laid down the blueprint for minimal
techno and 1994’s ‘Minimal Nation’ on Axis was a definitive album that
further cemented Hood’s reputation as one of the greats to emerge from the
Motor City. Since then, Hood has gone on to release on many of electronic
music’s best labels like Tresor, Peacefrog, Music Man Records, Dekmantel and
more. After a busy few years making music and touring as Floorplan alongside
his daughter Lyric, Hood now joins Rekids with an album showcasing his innate
knack for crafting paired back but intricate rhythms that deliver punch and
soul. Opening with the cinematic ‘Through A Looking Glass Darkly’, the album
quickly flows into precise, powerful four four. There’s mesmerising cuts such
as ‘Fear Not’ with its throbbing bass and spectral vocals, the twisted and
off-key ‘Run Bobby, Run’, not to mention muscular tracks designed to light up
dancefloors like the machine driven ‘A System of Mirrors’ or the mesmerising
‘Face In The Water’. Hood also breaks things up with downtempo and
mind-bending interludes, including the tranquil yet spooky ‘Black Mirror’ and
the beatless and murky ‘Freeze’. Each of these are aural feasts that
demonstrate his vast musical pallet. From start to finish ‘Mirror Man’ is an
education in finesse from one of techno’s most heroic artists, landing on one
of electronic music’s most important labels |

RSB return and welcome a new
artist to the fold. Having analysed in some depth the currently stale techno
market, and noting the rapturous response to RSB3?s ?Advanced Bossa? style,
they decided that it was in everyone?s interest to investigate another new
genre ? ?Bleepcore?! Hek (aka Jon Heckle / Jon Demonic) hails from Liverpool,
and in the words of that annoying advert, his debut does exactly what it says
on the tin?minimal bleeping techno, with killer production and arrangement
that will surely find favour with many DJs. Not wanting to feel left out,
Female reworks the track into a subtle builder, using filtered stabs and
cleverly timed drops and percussive breaks to create the tension that will
send dancefloors into a frenzy. Did I mention trancey? I hope not?what I
meant to say was hypnotic? |
