artist and Boysnoize mainstay Unklevon returns with more bristling electro
sounds on his excellent ‘Sharping Shadow’ EP. The no-nonsense Unklevon
project was born after years of experimentation. It exists independently of
any specific aspect of the music scene but combines all niches within the
worlds of electro and techno. Unklevon debuted on this label in early 2019,
and has also landed on FLASH and Nechto. His tunes have picked up notable
support from Perc, Nastia and Amelie Lens, amongst other big names, and this
white label 12" is an essential offering of electronic dynamite. The
superb metallic drums of 'Cyborg Romance' open with a bang. Robotic vocals,
glistening synths and punchy bass all make for classy outer space electro.
The title track is another high-energy electro jam, this time with subtle
nods to Kraftwerk. The slithering synth lines and vocal samples, serene
cinematic atmosphere and sleek drums all lock you in. Things get much more
dark and intense on 'Venus Aktivita¨t.' The synths are eerie and haunting,
the bass packed with menace and the drums hit with intent. The excellent 'NJ
Breakers' is more stripped back and high speed as it races on squelchy acid
bass and linear drums towards some far-off planet. Last of all is 'Euroset
Cobra' ft. Brodinski, a caustic world of blistering synths and lurching
broken beats that casts a truly dystopian shadow on the dance floor. Sharping

Dustin
Zahn makes his Blueprint Records debut in September as James Ruskin's label
continues to celebrate 25 years at the forefront of Techno. Since 1998,
Dustin Zahn's work has put his career on a steady ascent. Along the way, he
has gained years of experience and unrivalled musical diversity as both a
producer and performer, earning him respect among techno and house legends,
purists, and contemporary DJs. He performs regularly around the world and his
DJ sets are much like his releases. "I like it dark enough for the boys,
but groovy enough for the girls" says Zahn. With a preference for
marathon sets and his laid-back approach to life and music, he seamlessly
traverses through various genres to create a unique, hypnotic vibe. As a
producer, his releases on labels such as Drumcode, Rekids, and CLR have
brought him international success. And his remixes for the likes of Adam
Beyer, Chris Liebing, Green Velvet, Dubfire, Nic Fancuilli, Mark Broom, Joel
Mull and more have helped catapult him into the collections of DJs
everywhere. Despite his busy release schedule, he still finds time to own and
operate Enemy Records, founded in 2004, which focuses on the same late-night

personal remix of the hugely influential self-titled classic by Age Of Love.
It lands on the original Belgian label Diki Records on August 13th next to
the legendary Jam & Spoon 'Watch Out For Stella Mix' and the original
vocal mix from 1990. Age Of Love wrote and released their most iconic track
in 1990. It went on to become a stone-cold dance classic that inspired a
whole trance movement that has endured throughout the years. The track was
originally released on one of the most iconic trance labels in Belgium's
history and has been specially remastered for this 2021 release. The idea to
remix 'Age Of Love' started taking shape when KNTXT boss Charlotte was in
lockdown with esteemed Italian techno artist Enrico at the end of February
last year. As soon as the track was finished, it was played in several live
streams and the online community quickly fell in love. The remix bears all
the hallmarks of both producers, who between them have a number of Beatport
hits and have crafted everything from the darkest drums to the most emotional
synths to great effect. Say Charlotte and Enrico, "It's a very
meaningful track for both of us, for various reasons, and it brings back many
joyful memories. Remixing such a legendary track was a super fun thing to do,
but we noticed how easily and spontaneously we could work together in the

half of Thievery Corporation with his solo debut.
After 25 years as the co-founder, writer and producer of the Washington, D.C.
downtempo group Thievery Corporation, Eric Hilton is releasing his first solo
record called Infinite Everywhere. Infinite Everywhere is a trip hop dreamscape
of beautiful melodies and wistful atmospheric instrumentals that stir emotion
and memory. It’s an elegant exploration of inner space that will leave
listeners feeling replenished and centered. While Thievery painted with a
broad musical brush, genre hopping across (and sometimes within) their
albums, Hilton’s solo debut is distilled, focused, and more personal. The
album title and concept pre-dates the current global crisis, but is
remarkably prescient, conveying feelings of melancholia and optimism in equal
measures. This album has three videos to support the release. The first video
for the track, “Infinite Everywhere” premiered on Rolling Stone. The last
Thievery Corporation record, Symphonik, charted at #2 on the Electronic

Luke Slater resurfaces as Planetary Assault Systems with a crisp
double-package of his signature deep-rolling, hypnotic big-room churners. As
its name suggests, 'Straight Shooting' takes no byway to get its point
across.Lifting off with the bleepy, outerspacey thrust of 'Beam Rider',
Slater's new outing stings like a straight-out nasty shot of adrenaline right

October, LaFontaine and Orbe drop the seventh chapter of Mote-Evolver's
'Parallel Series', curated by label founder Luke Slater. After the first
release by Luke Slater (as L.B.Dub Corp) and ASC in 2011, the 'Parallel
Series' has continued to host split releases from the likes of Shifted, Rene
Wise, Billy Turner, Bas Mooy, Developer, Truncate, Sev Dah, Jeff Rushin, and
more. The seventh instalment on Mote-Evolver sees 199X Recordings founder
LaFontaine debut on the label following releases on Planet X and Negativ
Notion. Kicking off the release is '3015', a track that immediately captured
the ears of Slater after Ø [Phase] played it during b2b live stream in his
studio. The resonating kicks, detuned synths and off-kilter sonics pulsate
strikingly throughout before 'Kokkur' keeps the hypnotic energy flowing with
aquatic fx, deep space pads and oscillating grooves. Fernando Sanz and his
Orbe Records imprint has been lashing the block-rocking techno of Sanz's
comrades Eduardo De La Calle and Steve Stoll, but mainly of Sanz's prolific
moniker, Orbe. He provides murky soundscapes, smoky chords and orbiting drums
in his '9DVR' cut until 'Trimax' rounds off the release with kinetic synth

You
might think that Robert Hood is an artist who is content with the successes
he's achieved via his solo work and those alongside daughter, Lyric (as
Floorplan) but this is not a man who easily rests on his laurels so after a
long-time in the planning he is set to regenerate his much-loved Monobox
alias with a new EP in October followed by an artist album in November.
Originally launched in 1996 his Monobox sound spanned a trio of EPs on his
own M-Plant label, culminating in more releases including the 'Molecule'
album (in 2003) for French label Logistic, which later spawned a series of
remixes including those of Ricardo Villalobos and Matthew Dear. A brief
return came in 2014 as part of M-Plant's 20th anniversary celebrations, which
saw the release of a new Monobox 12", 'Film / Rectangle'. Speaking to
RBMA that year for one of their Fireside Chat interviews, Robert said:
"Monobox was an alien project. I read this book when I was probably
around 13 or 14. It was this ominous black box that came from some other
universe, and it was just sort of hovering over the planet, over a cornfield
somewhere." In Robert's mind the idea for the new EP and album is that
this vessel has been lying dormant for 40 or 50 years and is now beginning to
rise up again, or regenerate. His 'Forwardbase Kodai EP' features two
exclusive originals that will not appear on the forthcoming album |

techno legend Mark Broom announces his ‘Fast Fünfzig EP’ for Radio
Slave’s Rekids this June, ahead of a full LP for the label in July. Mark
Broom’s mammoth discography shows an artist who has put in the hours,
boasting appearances on legendary imprints such as Robert Hood’s M-Plant,
Warp Records, Pure Plastic, Bpitch Control, and of course Rekids. Alongside
his solo work, his collaborations are an equal tour-de-force, with groups
such as The Fear Ratio with James Ruskin counted as fan favourites. Here
though, Broom takes the reigns solo, drawing on decades worth of experience
for a 12” of mind-altering cuts for one of electronic music’s most vital
labels. Lead track ‘Fingers’ sees the British DJ/producer toying with rubbery
basslines, glistening pads, and chunky percussion to deliver an irresistibly
buoyant house track. ‘Slow’ follows suit, bringing another dose of deep low
end next to eerie leads and shining synthesis. On the flip, Broom enters
electro-tinged territory on ‘Wild Style’, tying unruly machines together with
vocal chops over a staggered, off-kilter drum pattern. Taking the B2 spot,
‘Facteur’ sees a reflective touch to the EP as emotive progressions unfurl

Robert
Hood returns to Rekids with ‘The Blueprint EP’ this July. Following 2020’s
‘Mirror Man’ LP on Radio Slave’s Rekids, Detroit pioneer Robert Hood returns
to the label with a four-track EP of his trailblazing minimal techno. Leading
the release, ‘Chroma Light’ opens with cinematic pads and pounding 4/4
patterns as twisted synthesis modulates throughout for a striking start.
Followed by ‘The Majestic (Deeper Edit)’, with rattling percussion and
fiercely relentless stabs, Hood shows his intent in creating propulsive,
dancefloor focussed cuts across the EP. On the flip, ‘The Majestic’ takes the
B1 spot, expanding on the previous track with wild synths and his signature
machine-like drums before ‘Ultrasonic Room’ closes out the release with eerie
atmospherics and an underlying hypnotic pulse taking centre stage. A founding

Capricorn aka Dutch producer and DJ Hans Weekhout originally released the
'20Hz' 3 track EP on R&S sub-label Global Cuts to much acclaim. A record
that was literally everywhere in '93 and still rocks any club today, '20Hz'
is undoubtedly an all-time anthem with it's combination of rolling,
thunderous drums, glacial marimba-like melodies and a tense trance inducing
atmosphere that literally lifts the dancefloor to another place. 'Didn't I'
is also a proper old-school peak-time stormer, it's uptempo, dripping in
positive vibes with sampled soulful vocals and chopped up drum breaks all
encapsulated within a real rave sensibility. Closing out the EP we are
treated to 'For The Soul, Body & Mind' which is a much darker, deeper and
menacing vibe than the previous cuts. More in line with the earliest fringes
of jungle, hardcore and bleep tehcno the track takes us on a journey into the
heart of the night with it's bass heavy and intricate sound programming and
breakbeats, proving that Hans Weekhout was an extremely versatile and open
minded producer. Overall, a truly classic and essential EP from the heyday of
European house and techno that still packs a punch today! This special 2021

Originally
released in the year 2000, the album represents a pivotal moment in the
emergence of the “Birmingham Sound”; a stripped-back sub-genre of Techno,
pioneered around this time in the English hub by artists such as Regis,
Female, and Surgeon. Influenced more by Industrial, Music Concrete, and EBM
than from the melodic sounds of its Detroit predecessor, Regis later
described the music as being made with a fractured pop sensibility which
created a sound that may be faceless but by design loses none of the soul of
its American counterpart. Nowhere is this sonic changing of the guard more
apparent than in opening track, Washing My Hands, which sets the stage with a
vignette of field recordings: arc welders, water boilers and other sounds
reminiscent of industrial workshops reframe your senses, placing your mind
into a familiar yet unsettling dreamlike space. From this sound- scape
emerges a high-pitched, vitreous noise heralding the jarring introduction of
Let Them Bleed, the first of several trance-inducing tracks on the album such
as Join Us In Paradise, and Guiltless, which layer percussive and sampled
loops creating what Peter Sutton (aka Female) described as exotic hypnotics.

Phuture
only released a handful of tracks (plus an album a full decade after their
debut), but have remained a legendary act in the development of Chicago house
for their stomping 1987 single "Acid Trax", the track that began
and defined the acid house sound. The group was formed by DJ Pierre,
synthesizer fan Spanky and Herb J in 1985 as a recording entity to produce
records for Pierre to mix into his sets at several crucial Chicago clubs.
After being turned on to the high-pitched squelch of the Roland TB-303
synthesizer (marketed as a bassline machine for solo guitarists), the trio
emerged from the studio with a track they called "In Your Mind".
Ron Hardy previewed the track at his legendary club the Music Box - where it
became known as "Ron Hardy's Acid Track" - and Phuture re-made the
cut with production by Marshall Jefferson. Released on Trax Records in 1987,
the single created a dividing point between the Chicago sound before and
after it, with hundreds of "Acid Trax" imitations flooding the
local market. After it caught on in Britain as well, the single soundtracked
the wave of club madness which coalesced in the rave movement by the end of
the decade |

Utter presents The Jaffa Kid’s
‘Acid Raver’ on 2xLP housed in a smiley sleeve with bonus perforated acid tab
sheet. While The Jaffa Kid - real name Daniel Pringle - has been releasing
music since the mid 2000’s, he has recently become a man possessed, relentlessly
and unceremoniously uploading over 50 albums to Bandcamp since 2019. Prolific
is an understatement. ‘Acid Raver’ was recorded in 2019 during what Pringle
describes as a ‘two week acid bender’ and is part of an ongoing series of
303-based experiments. With BPMs varying from the 120s up to the 150s, the
tracks collected here touch on a variety of acidic styles from the
stripped-back and hypnotic to full-blooded jacking fist-pumpers, then on up
