Archaic
Print released its catalog last year with a first installment in which the
label already revealed part of its artistic interests with a commitment to
the various interpretations that a genre as loose as techno can have, and
always, within a context in which it rewards coherence and originality above
all else. This freedom to execute and develop different scenarios, and that
at the same time they can coexist and harmonize, joins the priority that the
platform gives to the physical format, to the vinyl record. Mike Humphries
takes over from Stanislav Tolkachev, The Transhumans and Dan Böhler, creators
of the first Archaic Print reference. However, unlike this first release,
Humphries is the sole author of the four tracks of this EP and therefore, we
owe him the musical plurality of this second installment. With In Between
Reality, Mike Humphries gives a great example of baggage and the great
creative work that has accompanied him during these 3 decades. This album
exhibits a sound retrospection that can place the listener in different
locations and times. Space-time is situated at four different points |

Archaic
Print is a label linked to one of the most famous podcast series, 12 Inch,
which hosts sessions by techno geniuses such as DJ T-1000, Sleeparchive,
Emmanuel Top, Antonio De Angelis, Esteban Adame, Cristian Varela, Zadig and a
huge list of more than 400 sessions by different established artists, both on
the international and national scene. As a label, Archaic Print only bets on
one direction, which is to release all their material only in vinyl format
and staying true to their style. In their third reference they have the
Spanish producer Aiken , an artist we have seen working with such respectable
platforms as Semantica, M_REC LTD or Key Vinyl, and who has a very
identifiable style, as he usually adds a mental atmosphere to his music,
either by the timbre of his sequences, by the harmonic combination or by the
elaboration of linear patterns. Third Chapter is a heterogeneous EP, with
three tracks by the author himself, which very well represent Aiken's ideals
as a producer. Side A opens with the track of the same name, a track with a
cosmic character that is marked by the great energetic dose that the arpeggio
provides, as it increases the dynamism with its rapid execution of notes.
With Endless Battle, Aiken returns to the sequential formula of the melodic
chord, this time with a tighter tonal tessitura, but just as invigorating and
intense. The B-side opens with a remix of Third Chapter by Robert
Witschakowski with his great project The Exaltics, to which he gives a band
treatment, although the only member is Robert himself. And as we might
expect, his version adapts to his style, maintaining the hegemony of the
arpeggiated sequence but giving it an electronic sound environment with a
brilliant rhythm and textures more typical of genres such as electro.
Strategy is the cut that closes the album and the most cerebral track on the
EP, as the author divides each rhythmic parameter into multiple spaces, where
he strategically places different elements with the intention of placing the
listener in a false sense of balance |

Sisko
Electrofanatik's Gain Records recently had a chart-topping hit with the label
boss’ track “Only One”, and is back with a new collaborative EP by Roberto
Pagliaccia and Dubskull. Along with the three original tracks, the EP also
features a remix from T78 who in addition to releasing on his own label
Autektone Records has also featured on Filth on Acid, Intec, and Suara.
Roberto Pagliaccia and Dubskull are both Italian artists. Dubskull whose dark
and atmospheric style has been a feature of labels like Reload and Riot, and
this is their third time featuring on Gain. Roberto Pagliaccia is an exciting
new talent, and this is only his 3rd release after a recent debut on Lapsus
Music, Blackboard with AudioJack remix. T78 has had a recent hit track made
in collaboration with Space92, and in addition to his many hard-hitting solo
releases, he has also worked with A*S*Y*S, Raito, and Maxie Devine. With
brooding tension and twisted euphoria, this release has a peak time energy
with acid tones. “Skil” opens the release with a slow-building tension before
the uplifting energy of the lead synth, then T78 lifts the tempo of Skil with
his explosive remix. “Loris” has a dystopian atmosphere filled with dark
suspense, and “Acid Jungle“ closes out the release with its rubbery lead
synth and modulating tones |

Scalameriya
returns to Perc Trax with the most definitive statement of his highly
individual sound to date. Originally debuting on Perc Trax in 2016 in
collaboration with VSK he has since cemented his status at the label with
three further Perc Trax EPs 'Kepslok' (2016), 'Hellzone Megapunk' (2018) and
'Blueprint For Disaster' (2020). Now 'Aeon Core' is upon us and sees
Scalameriya extend his sound across 11 immaculately produced tracks
showcasing a cybernetic, synthetic techno sound that still has a warm heart
at its core. From the tough beats and warped vocals of 'Kiti Kimera' to the
collapsing synth riffs of 'Elder Venus' to the punishing closing statement
that is 'Warbeast' a track pushing up the Scalameriya BPM like never before,
this is an album than perfectly balances intricacy, rhythm and power. As with
the last two Scalameriya EPs on Perc Trax the source illustration is an
exclusive commissioned work by New Tasty with all editions of the album put
together by Perc Trax design hero Adult Art Club. The distinctive
illustration further solidifies the connection between the visual and sonic
aesthetics of Scalameriya's Perc Trax releases to the point now where it
feels like one cannot exist without the other. The album was mastered by Matt
Colton at Metropolis Studios in London and will be released as a 2 x 12"
vinyl release, a CD album plus download and streaming formats |

The four Spaniards ready their hydraulic hammers to shake the ground with
four cuts of classic 90s techno, melancholic electro and touches of IDM. Next

Compared
by Adam Beyer, Truesoul is the Ying to the Yang of the techno tastemaker’s
better known Drumcode label. Equally well respected, equally forward
thinking; both labels are very much at the forefront of what is going on in
electronic music. Operating on a broad remit and refusing to be restricted by
genre boundaries, Truesoul offers an oasis for the great and good of techno
where they can experiment with elements of electronica, downtempo, house and
minimal. Having hosted the work of Cari Lekebusch, Joel Mull, Nihad Tule, Par
Grindvik, Speedy J and Beyer himself, the mantel is now passed to Dustin
Zahn. Best known for his ever reliable Enemy Records imprint, Zahn is one of
the most in-demand producer / DJ’s on the techno circuit with his releases
for the likes of Drumcode, Droid and Audio Assault staple choices for many.
Weighing in at nearly ten minutes long you know before you have even pressed
play that From Above is a record that should be played from start to finish.
Deep and moody but with plenty of drama; layers of percussion squelch
together pleasingly over a tense, rising chord line while sudden stabs of
acidic strings and a cut up vocal punctuate the tribal, rumbling bass. Heavy…
Subtle, intense, hypnotic, dramatic… Bees is an atmospheric bomb that has
everything to grab the attention. Constructed in such a way as to smoothly
transition from deeper, linear moments to more urgent, up-tempo vibes, you
feel you are progressing through two or three records in one as the elements
slip in and out effortlessly; each combination cleverly driving the mood ever
onward. Oceanside provides another lesson (should you need it) in the power
of intelligently thought out layers. More punchy and to the point than the
offerings elsewhere on the EP, there is equal precision on show in the craft
deployed to combine the various elements. Tribalistic and raw, a staggered
bassline is the engine for the groove that carries the track through to a

(above) in their own version. The Paul Birken mix is a version in 3/4 time
that just feels like how the day works. If kangaroos jump on the speakers
when the cones move watch out. Start and stop as the cut-ups drop. Cannibal
Cooking Club are the two troublemakers from Germany . You never know what
they are going to pull from their music machines, but it keeps you
entertained and tuned in. They walk their own path…Miro Pajic is another
German studio master...track controlled chaos…some know him for his
Hypnotizer moniker and others just as Miro over the last decade. His newer
cuts show a slowdown in tempo, but the dark/heavy mood will not sway. Miro
brings the evil minimal goblin vibe to this version. DJ TJR is the squelchy
acid freaker from the east coast of the United States, and goes for uncharted
and eerie bass. Recent releases on Woody McBride's Aciiieed and Terry
Mullan's Catalyst have been acid music with fire in its belly. His version
here feels like vintage Landstrumm / DBX tone control |

Our Allien leader returns to the
UFO bringing with her fresh auditory space signals. Ellen Allien's latest EP

four original cuts from the pioneering Berliner. As you may expect from
Ellen, the release is packed with raw emotion, rave motifs and unrelenting

WWM is happy to welcome one of
the purest talents of the scene, directly from Kyiv, Vladimir Gnatenko.
Vladimir built his reputation with some outstanding live shows, and he is one
of the most interesting artists of the shining Ukrainian scene. The EP is a
perfect example of the diversity of styles he covers, from 4/4 to breakbeat
with a very unique blend of spacey trance sound which is a trademark of his
productions. A side opens up with Storm, an emotional excursion into Vlad’s
art. Nostalgic synth lines evolving into a hedonistic dancefloor banger. A2
is Roosblom, a kidnapping tune that brings you to a dystopic world when new
forms of life are trying to surface. On the flip side, we have Toevlug, the
most introspective piece of the EP. Melancholic sounds and robotic sequences
create a dreamy aura while the sneaky breakbeat held up the tension. Skarrel
closes the EP with a ruthless 4/4 beat combined with a gloomy atmosphere that
finds its climax on the break. That’s pure madness in a big sound system |
