Delsin
marks its milestone 150th release in a rainstorm of gorgeous arps with a full
EP from Voiski. For Luc Kheradmand it's a return to the label which carried
his 2020 collaboration with Wata Igarashi and where he issued early single
Breaths Written Outside Gloom. For Delsin it's the perfect way to sum up
different dimensions of the label's identity - richly melodic,
machine-powered and yet distinct from any illusion of a typical 'Delsin
sound'. The End Of Fiction EP marks a new chapter in Kheradmand's approach
and intention. His prolific back catalogue reaches back across countless
releases for labels like L.I.E.S., Dekmantel UFO, Bassiani and his own Super
95. Here his established overdriven snarl is tempered, but not at the expense
of the energy and emotion readily associated with his music. There's a trace
of trance and early Detroit about the powerful lead lines on 'Blazing Star'
and 'Hazy Suns', while 'Unreality' basks in blissful acid and 'Ideodelika'
charts a course through progressive, psychedelic techno. The End Of Fiction
still bristles with the peak time energy Voiski is often known for, but it's
the melodies which dominate the overall narrative as he sets out a renewed
clarity in his sound |

Radically
shapeshifting and surrealist, as spinning sonic prisms taunting the ears,
'Cercle Vicieux' and 'Cercle Vertueux' channel Fluxus artistry, straying past
jazz-licked drones, avalanching low end and blood red scatting. Scenes both
condescending and anxious -- this release is carried by its interwoven
conflicts, where strange attractors reveal knots at each listen. The fifth
Plafond is a special joint project tying the synchronicity of two
contemporary minds. Both Zoe Mc Pherson and Rupert Clervaux are known to
actively transgress art forms, reconstituting production methods through
respective audiovisual and literary pursuits. The listener is relocated in
their musical interzone, bordered by avant-garde experimentalism on one side,
and bass-heavy club mutations on the other. This ambiguation lays out a
gateway, one through which modern producers can re-adopt the revolutionary
energy of those who unraveled conventions on music and sound in the first
place -- a 'Cercle Vertueux', indeed. Comes in a hand printed sleeve with
multiple tints grey and silver, including an Obi-strip, by the BAKK Interzone

Earlier
this year this realm lost a great visionary in the form of Jasen Loveland aka
Andrew Smith aka infinity. He was the embodiment of the spirit of No Way
Back, a true cosmic being. Via his almost endless flow of tunes through his
Infinite Refractions, he released music under countless names and
collaborations, far too many to name here, and left us with many terabytes of
unreleased music that we are still processing and compiling. Interdimensional
Transmissions? Acid Series began as a vehicle to release his music, with the
first volume being released at No Way Back at the Tangent in Detroit in 2017,
was available in the merch booth during all the 313: Return to the Source
events, which is fitting, because this is the context he made the music for.
He is also half of Pervocet, along with Patrick Russell, who did the 5th
volume of the Acid Series, released for 2019?s Samhain event. The forthcoming
final record of the planned series is his. This record was recorded in LA,
and mixed with BMG at the Interdimensional Laboratories, Detroit. We mixed a
total of 8 songs in 2 days and chose 4 for the EP in a fascinating session
where we learned so much from each other. The demos for the follow up EP kept
adding up and mutating so fast that we had enough for another 4 EPs a year,
and that is how the concept of Infinite Refractions was born. His passing has
reminded us of what a record label is, a place for releases and events, sure,
but really an interconnected web of people, a form of family and a platform
of ideas that endure beyond us all. Andrew was on that plane. So please enjoy
this communication from another dimension in the form of the record that
launched the mind melding psychedelic hysteria of Jasen Loveland to the
universe |

Distilling a range of dancefloor moods into purist techno trips,
long-time innovator Jeroen Search teams up with newer talent PUSHMANN for a
Dutch-Spanish collaboration which transcends the sum of its parts. The
four-tracks on "Awareness," the second release from Berlin-based
Sinxergy, are laser-focused for the dancefloor, continuing the sci-fi sound
the label began exploring in 2021. Jeroen Search and PUSHMANN combine their
vast experience in the booth with individual sonic stamps to create four
tracks of driving, tripped-out techno. From the reduced atmospherics of
"Basic" through to the jacking power of "Code," this
debut collaboration covers all the ground needed to stay long in DJ's record
bags |

Second Skin is Spanish producers Psyk and Oscar Mulero with
their first release for James Ruskin's Blueprint. These two prolific figures
of the Techno scene will already be known to many. Oscar Mulero has run his
own label, Warm Up since 2000 and PoleGroup Records since 2004, as well as
releasing more recently on the likes of Token and Semantica. Meanwhile, Psyk
launched his Non Series imprint in 2011 and has graced other labels including
Mote-Evolver, Tresor, and Semantica (like Oscar). Of course, both artists
boast a heavy DJ schedule with sets across the globe. Joining forces under
the name Second Skin, they are resolute for this next Blueprint release. The
tracks range from the techno tribalism of 'Bare Hands';, the pitch-black
'Sense of Purpose' and driving 'Reformed Theology', to the hypnotic 'No
Escape' |

Keith
Carnal returns to BPitch with a rousing three-track excursion into the
visceral side of techno. Stocked with deadly drum arrangements, thumping
kicks and imposing basslines, Keith’s armoury is well equipped to cause
maximum impact on the dance floor. The title cut takes us straight into the
depths of Carnal’s wild mind, with a bombastic cut that utilises a pitched
down spoken word vocal. The storyteller takes us into a world of after party
excess and ‘ape shit craziness’ as the beats pump relentlessly. It’s
debauched, heavy and utterly alluring... Next up is ‘FreizeitAktivita¨t’,
firing on all cylinders with a snub nosed kick and slinky snares, that lead
us into the main body of the track where a hypnotic melody plays out. The
melody is emotive and evokes a feeling of solemnity, all the while those
powerful drums fuel a rapid pace. Lastly, ‘WiederGutMachung’, a brooding cut
where Carnal employs a stripped back arrangement to great ef- fect. The main
riff has an unsettling feel, cultivating an anxious atmosphere complemented
by the pounding beats |

Spanish techno giant's debut album, "Remember Why You Started".
Recruiting international powerhouse duo's Slam, PTU & Boston 168 to
rework the earth-shattering originals. Scotland's luminary duo Slam kicks off
with their edit of "She Dances Alone". The pair's distinctive tweak
is the alchemization of the kick drum, pivoting into a thunderous force. The
kick is paired with claps that ricochet above a determined synth line, while
the low-slung baseline mists under twinkling keys and sprinklings of hoover
noise, giving the rework an old school feel. Uplifting major notes inject
brightness & contrast to the track, with the cunning acid line lingering
'til close. Next, enigmatic Russian twosome PTU transform "Dealing With
My Pain", a once low tempo mid-point track, into a primary dancefloor
weapon. This heavily industrialised rendition utilises an incessantly deep
bass drum while maintaining the commanding male vocal sample. Blistering
hi-hats, and a wildly distorted synth breakdown build a brash and dubious
mood. The thumping kick drum drives the track forward, looping electrical
elements that ring out from ear to ear, surrounding you with wild noise and
energy. Italy's acid techno aficionado's Boston 168 step up to close with
their interpretation of "Fearful Nights". In true style, the duo
mould the very start of the track to blend with their signature sound. A
bumping kick drum and quintessential 303 manipulate the melody, resulting in
a far more venomous composition than the original. Sinister synth stabs slice
through the chaos with a hi-hat and snare drum combination for extra effect |

Involve
Records boss Regal presents "RWYS Remixes Pt.02", containing four
edits of his debut album from JKS, Ellen Allien, Clouds & Lady Starlight.
Regal drops the second remix EP from three packages lined up on his Involve
imprint, "RWYS Remixes Pt.02". He invites some of techno's finest
producers to rework his debut album, including JKS, Ellen Allien, Clouds
& Lady Starlight. Parisian Producer JKS takes on Regal & Z.I.P.P.O's
track "Run" for the opener. Modifying the pads, he emits an
elongated, ravey sound that's accompanied by a vast emphasis on the original
samples. He uses the vocals to redirect the track after each command, veering
through drum patterns, menacing 303's and clattering rhythms. Following is
almighty German force Ellen Allien, with her equally ferocious rendition of
"Dungeon Master". She shifts the original arrangements by injecting
wavering synths and bubbling chords. A rounded kick drum gallops throughout,
marrying the psychedelic realm created by Allien with the track's original
demonic flare. Revered Scottish duo Clouds are next with their concoction of
"Requiem from a friend". Originally a melancholic and dubious cut
from Regal and pianist Fabrizio rat, Clouds transform the wistful keys and
understated synths into deep, howling sonics with sharp, stabbing spasms.
They accentuate the kaleidoscope elements and maintain the disordered
kick-drum, adding weight, a trippy vocal and spacey pads. NYC producer Lady
Starlight closes with "Burning Old Idols". Maintaining a number of
elements from Regal's composition, she manages to amplify the powerfulness of
the track. A deeper kick and the ascended pitch of the 303's churns out a
robust and tenacious sound, perfectly maintaining energy until the close |

KNTXT
signs hotly-tipped techno artist Indira Paganotto for a new EP that showcases
her unique sound across four compelling tracks. Indira's father was a DJ in
the iconic Goa scene in India in the 90s, so she grew up surrounded by
colourful, emotive techno and psytrance. She has brought that to her own DJ
sets and productions ever since she moved to Madrid to pursue her career. Now
Indira is coming out with her best EP to date. “I got to know Indira
Paganotto when we opened up for demo submissions earlier this year,'' says
KNTXT label boss Charlotte de Witte. “She immediately caught my attention
with her unique take on psy/techno music. It feels very good to have her on
board and I'm curious to see what the future holds for her.” Indira adds,
"I understand music as a state of trance where each track develops a
journey and a story. Himalaya EP is the reflection of everything I learned
since my childhood until today, the heritage and passion for Psytrance, the
experiences in India, the connection with nature, as well as the feeling of
freedom and strength like the gallop of a horse, the synths of Goa music, the
love and the truth, which is what fills my life. Thank you Charlotte for
understanding my language in such a true way. Ours is a real connection in
such a sincere mental embrace, and I am proud to be part of your KNTXT family
and to be able to show everyone who I am." The EP ´s opening track,
'Takeshi', is a slick techno roller that is rippled with psychedelic melodies
and bright acid lines. They bleep and squeak up top to create a hypnotic
effect as the drums march on. 'Sultans Of Mountains' contains intense
psychedelic synths waning about the mix. The drums are stripped back and
urgent, and crashing hits and smart filters bring real tension as this one
unfolds in an arresting fashion. On the other hand, 'Himalaya' has a deep and
sleek techno atmosphere where astral pads and heavenly vocal coos make for a
cinematic sound that will cast a real spell on the crowd. Last, but certainly
not least we have the edgy and heavily textured 'Cobra' with its unrelenting
drums, slapping hits and futuristic, psytrance-tinged melodies all designed
to mess with your mind. This is an EP packed with fresh techno, straight from
the breakout star Indira Paganotto |

Musician/producer
Eric Hilton takes listeners on a blunted journey through space with his new
album, Ceremony, 13 tracks of emotive interstellar psychedelia, out on August
20th. Hilton’s masterful ability to mix disparate musical ingredients was
well established during his 25-year tenure as cofounder of the legendary
genre-hopping downtempo electronic music act Thievery Corporation. But in his
newfound solo work, the artist has crafted a sonic universe uniquely his own.
Ceremony is the 3rd solo record Hilton has released during the past year, a
period of prolific awakening for the veteran musician and producer, which the
album title alludes to. Ceremony acknowledges the exercise of sitting alone
to draw musical vibrations from the ether, which I do on a regular basis,”
says Hilton. It’s the most centering, grounding thing I do, and I didn’t
really do it until I became a solo artist. Now I’m hooked. Interpreting life
experiences, consciousness, and putting that into a musical form - that's the
ceremony.” Hilton moved house from D.C. to a more rural setting prior to the
making of Ceremony and the bucolic surroundings had a definite influence on
the writing process for this album. Being in nature brought more of an
‘ambient’ aspect into this record – “I like certain aspects of ambient
music.” said the artist, “but Ceremony grooves far too purposefully to be
mistaken for anything like a traditional ambient record”, so those aspects
manifest themselves here as an intelligent spaciousness within which the
songs exist. While Ceremony was birthed in the wilds of Maryland, sonically
the boundaries of this record seem to exist outside the earth’s atmosphere.
With track titles like “Particles”, “Forming Star”, “Adrift”, and “Fade into
Forever”, it’s easy to imagine Hilton as the lone passenger tripping on some
giant starship, looking through the viewscreen and jamming along on his bass
while stars are born or die. An acoustic guitar solo brings the album’s title
track to an elegant pause before building the song back up again - a moment
Hilton calls “pure 1970"s rock”. And on “Who Are You?” (one of the first
singles), crystalline melodies intertwine like near misses in an asteroid
field. Needle dropping, the songs work as individual episodes drawn from an
epic cosmic journey. But no matter how deep into space Ceremony brings the
listener, they will never feel cold or alone in the void. There is warmth and
humanity in this music, which can surely be mapped to Hilton’s deeply
personal composition process. “Creativity is always purely personal. I'm a
big believer in artists only making art for themselves, I find it dangerous
when you start thinking too much about what the listener might like,” said
the composer. “You have to start with yourself if you want to effect other
people |

Luke
Slater, Dubfire, and The Lady Machine remix Planetary Assault Systems' 'Rip
The Cut' on Mote-Evolver this April. Originally released on Planetary Assault
Systems' 2011 album 'The Messenger' on Ostgut Ton, 'Rip The Cut' now sees a
pair of remixes from Dubfire and The Lady Machine and two new versions from
Luke Slater himself for his Mote-Evolver label this April. Leading the
release is Luke Slater's first remix of the original, titled 'LS Remix 1',
where grooving, swung percussion meets crunching samples and oscillating
bleeps alongside dubbed out vocal FX. SCI + TECfounder Dubfire's
interpretation follows on, which brings squelching synths, rocking drums, and
trippy atmospheres to the table. On the flip, Slater's second revision kicks
off the B-side with a relentless barrage of drum machines, considered
distortion, and a hard-hitting arrangement. Following her recent 'Magnify' EP
on Mote-Evolver, Pornceptual Resident and Unterwegs Records boss The Lady
Machine rounds out the EP, flipping 'Rip The Cut' into a certified stomper,
applying brushes of expertly crafted additional effects and percussion to the
original |

Pour La Danse is proud to present Coil's unreleased soundtrack for the VHS
only, pre-internet, sexual education documentary entitled "The Gay Man's
Guide To Safer Sex" released in 1992. Members for this project are John
Balance, Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson and Danny Hyde. The OST, to
quote John Balance's interview for Compulsion Online, "is [a] slightly
new agey, progressive house type thing". Another way to approach it is
as a delightful collection of balearic beats, smoking jazz not far removed
from Badalamenti's work with David Lynch, somewhat of an ambient house album
for your home listening and early
morning sunrise dances, Coil style. Taken from the original masters provided
by Danny Hyde, "The Gay Man's Guide To Safer Sex" features a new
sexy edit of the main theme. Bonuses "Nasa-Arab" and "Omlagus
Garfungiloops" are taken from the 1992 CD only "Stolen And
Contaminated Songs", both being original versions of the radically
reworked (for the OST) "Nasa-Arab 2" and "Exploding
Frogs" in order to balance the whole album and extend the listening
pleasure |

You
might think that Robert Hood is an artist who is content with the successes
he's achieved, but this is not a man who easily rests on his laurels so after
a long-time in the planning he is set to regenerate his much-loved Monobox
alias with a newalbum this November. The idea for Robert is that this vessel
has been lying dormant for 40 or 50 years and is now beginning to rise up
again, or regenerate. Techno minimalism, but from an alien futuristic
perspective.Following Robert Hood's announcement in October detailing the
return of his Monobox alias and the 'Forwardbase Kodai EP' comprising two
exclusive tracks and two remixes from himself and Ø [Phase], he now delivers
the full Monobox regeneration across an album featuring seven more tracks.
Originally launched in 1996 Hood's Monobox sound spanned a trio of EPs on his
own M-Plant label, culminating in more releases including the 'Molecule'
album (in 2003) for French label Logistic, which later spawned a series of
remixes including those of Ricardo Villalobos and Matthew Dear. A brief
return came in 2014 as part of M-Plant's 20th anniversary celebrations, which
saw the release of a new Monobox 12", 'Film / Rectangle'. Speaking to
RBMA that year for one of their Fireside Chat interviews, Robert said:
"Monobox was an alien project. I read this book when I was probably
around 13 or 14. It was this ominous black box that came from some other
universe, and it was just sort of hovering over the planet, over a cornfield
somewhere." For the return of Monobox, Hood has envisaged that the
vessel has been lying dormant for 40 or 50 years and is now beginning to rise
up again, or regenerate. The new Monobox album, 'Regenerate' creates an
all-enveloping story from its opening chapter and the atmospheric 'Rise'.
Stripped-back tribalism ensues with 'Blackwater Canal' before the ominous
'Wargames', while 'Angel City' brings a lighter, sparkling touch. Disc two
delivers the gritty 'Exoplanet' running at over nine minutes as it gradually
draws you in, then flip over for the sweeping grooves of 'Drydock'. The album
closes on the album's title track where vintage melodies sit alongside techno
futurism |

South
African-born, Amsterdam-based Lee Ann Roberts served up plenty of fresh
techno in the last 12 months. It has taken her to the top end of the Beatport
Hard Techno chart and to labels like Octopus Warehouse Series as well as her
own NowNow Records. Fans of her tough sounds include Charlotte de Witte and
Ken Ishii, while Lee Ann herself has played festivals like Caprices and BPM.
Now she kicks off a new year in thrilling fashion. The monstrous 'March Of
The White Fireflies' is built on earth-shattering kicks drums and run through
with edgy synth lines. The whole tune has a dark, dystopian atmosphere and
muffled vocals add to the intrigue as the drums march on into ever more
shadowy realms. First to remix is Glasgow's Frazi.er, a leader of the Scottish
techno scene with his standout sets at mega-events like Terminal V amongst
others. His tracks are as powerful as his DJ sets as this remix proves. It is
an explosive rave tune lacerated by machine gun synths and flat-footed,
insistent kick drums. Industrial textures and late-night paranoia all infuse
this most peak-time weapon. Next comes a remix from Charlie Sparks, an
up-and-coming young artist notorious for his high energy sounds on labels
such as NineTimesNine, COUP and Märked. His remix adds a little swing to the
drums, but there is no less urgency in the synths. The scuffed-up kicks bring
texture while the pulsing sonar pads add a sense of intergalactic space
travel as lashings of acid light up the whole track. Brussels-based Jacidorex
is a neo acid pioneer and runs a label of the same name. He has made
everything from drum & bass to techno on labels like Molekül, Acid Night
and Rave Alert and offers a superb remix here. His take on the original is
sleek and stripped back but full of techno potency. The percussion is
twisted, the synths corrugated and the groove unrelenting. 'March Of The
White Fireflies' is another EP of high-class and rib-rattling techno |

Brussels based DJ & producer
(Ahmet) Altinbas, part of VOLTAGE and resident at Fuse, is one of the
brightest talents within the (Belgian) techno scene. With different releases
and appearances on prestigious labels such as Token Records, Non Series, VOLTAGE
Imprint & Float Records, his young career is taking shape. Altinbas now
inaugurates his very own label “Observer Station”, a secondary output for his
exploratory creations. “The idea of releasing music without any external
constraints has always been so appealing to me. As a producer, DJ and music
lover I have always been curious and open to listen, understand and try my
hands on alternative sides of electronic music. Along the way I've collected
a number of tracks I really like, that are a crossbreed between what I
usually make and those adventurous sessions. And this imprint will be my way
of sharing these tracks with everyone” |

techno classics - repressed and reissued for 2021!. Second Phase (aka Joey
Beltram and Mundo Muzique) are 2 legendary producers whose output shaped an
entire generation of ravers, DJs and producers minds. 'Mentasm / Mind To
Mind' is one such influential release, literally creating new styles, new
directions and impacting on dance music for decades to come. Unique
programming and fresh sounds made their records stand out head and shoulders
above everyone else's output. 'Mentasm' particularly broke ground with it's
now infamous 'hoover sound', influencing house, techno and trance music to
come and even spilling over into the nascent hardcore, jungle and D&B
scenes where it was often imitated or sampled by producers who wanted that
ruff, visceral feel for their own tracks, but didn't know how to create it
themselves. A new energy was born and it emanated from this milestone
12". 'Mind To Mind' on the flipside is equally as deadly, but in a
deeper, more spaced out realm it maneuvers and pulls into a trippy early
morning space, the yin to 'Mentasm's yang. This is a quintessential techno
record, a glimpse of innovation from back in the day. File under 'classic'.

techno legend Mark Broom returns to Rekids Special Projects with Vol. 2 of
his ‘Mutated Battle Breaks’ series. Following the acclaimed ‘Funfzig LP’ on
Rekids earlier this year, as well as the first volume of ‘Mutated Battle
Breaks’, UK stalwart Mark Broom returns to the Rekids universe with another
set of eight fully charged techno bombs for Radio Slave’s techno-focussed
imprint in ‘Mutated Battle Breaks Vol. 2’. From the punchy stabs of opener
‘Recessive’ through to the deep and bumping ‘Pump’, Broom turns in
masterclass in high-energy techno tools. With the quality remaining as
consistent as the 4/4 kicks across both sides of the record, ‘Mutated Battle
Breaks Vol. 2’ is set to make an appearance in the record bags and USBs of
any techno DJs worth their salt worldwide. Releasing on labels such as
Rekids, M-Plant, and Blueprint, the wildly prolific Broom has consistently
been at the forefront of the techno scene for decades with his gritty,
groove-based output while, away from the dancefloor, his The Fear Ratio
project with James Ruskin continues to win critical acclaim |

Berlin’s
Michael Klein drops heavy duty 5 tracker EP on Second State. A mainstay of
the Second State label, Michael Klein’s back catalog has now expanded to
include 11 releases with the Berlin imprint. ‘Golden Hour’ is a classic
high-energy and versatile contribution from Klein, with 5 mesmerizing techno
tracks. Opener and title track ‘Golden Hour’ kicks off with strong synergy
between the kick, bass and percussion. Moving & rising at controlled
pace, Klein brings in off kilter keys and a smooth arpeggio. Next up is
‘Voice Interrupt’ which uses twisted melodies and pitch distortions to create
a tense but energetic energy. Minimal shakers and a solitary hi-hat add
texture to the track, whilst keeping the arrangements tight and bouncy. ‘In
My Own Eyes’ starts off minimal and subdued, with a rotary synth that
eventually breaks through and takes command. Subtle industrial elements are
used but hidden under shakers, coming to the forefront during a brief
interlude of the main synth-line. Following is ‘Howlip’ with a uniform kick,
hi-hat and a jagged synth combo that dance menacingly throughout. A sample of
the cut’s name chimes in at varied volumes, at times battling against the
main groove and recurring electro twinged synth. A driving and peak-time dance-floor
weapon. The finale of the EP ‘One Eyed Master’ is dominated by piping,
high-frequency keys that bubble under the main kick and sharp single hi-hat.
Varying in intensity as the track drives on, the keys create a dystopian yet
uneasy atmosphere. Klein again plays with the balance of percussion and pitch
to manipulate the mood created in the track, an obvious theme and technique
applied throughout the EP |

For
the third installment of Token's Fuga compilations, the label invites another
list of 9 cutting edge artists to put their skills to the test. Ignez, Emily
Jeanne, Altinbas & Cirkle, Alarico, Dustmite, Yant, Marcal, and Decka all
offer their unique vision of contemporary club music for a collection of
tunneling and intelligent cuts. Introducing the compilation, Ignez warms us
up with the appropriately-named 'Celestial' - a 6 minute argument between
melody and dissonance over a thick percussive line. Emily Jeanne then
continues with 'Red River Delta' to lift some of the weight with a
dissociative mind-bender. The crisp sound design and wide stereo image allow
for an exhale before Altinbas and Cirkle introduce their collaboration
'Uhlanga'. With our focus back on the body, the duo turn up the pace and
prioritize groove. With rhythm at the forefront, depth is given to the track
in the ambience, creating a rainforest-like atmosphere with resonant stabs
streaking over the tighter low-end. Alarico then picks things up by taking
advantage of this crescendo to present the energetic climax of the
compilation with 'Spit'. Hypnotism becomes almost paranoia with vocal cuts
camouflaging themselves in the pulse of the track that only releases us with
the occasional fleeting arpeggio. Walls rise and we're in concrete for
Dustmite's 'Filaments and Jaws', which wastes no time in introducing itself
with clear intentions and an imposing, low hi hat. He then lifts the record
with a hovering main synth that drifts the experience back into a nervosity
that complements the preceding track. It's Yant's turn to guide us with 'Take
the Reins' - an almost nostalgic record with infectious chord stabs over a
pounding 909, before leaving us with Marcal. 'Dancing Pursuit' is offered to
the listener as another dance floor weapon with a density in its percussion
and ambience that's balanced by the sequence of the lead synth and creates a
lot of energy. Decka then takes control with 'Fracture' with a brutally
saturated kick over whipping two-bar synth loops to close out the compilation
with a head-spinner |

With
a first appearance on Token through a remix for PTTRN's 'To Disapear
Completely', Mike Parker fully debuts on the imprint with 'The Burning Round
Table' for 4 corrosive tracks of unforgiving power. Highly skilled in
crafting cavernous ambiances and sharp tension, the American virtuoso offers
a record emphasizing just that: imposing cuts to be selected with intention.
Parker immediately introduces the EP with gravitas through boiling, acidic A1
'Tripartite'. This first track stomps its way through an aquatic ecosystem
with the occasional stab to reaffirm the vast dimension of the track. Parker
uses texturally abstract atmospheres that dive the alert listener into its
mysterious environment. The kick pummels onto Parker's next piece 'Ascension
Chain', which carries its name well. A heavy low-end clears space for a
mesmerizing stepped lead in this track that evokes a similar size as its
predecessor's. Quick hi hat sections hurry the track along into the other
side of the record that meets the listener with a clear transition. Part 2 of
the EP begins with 'Bass Model', where Parker flattens the dimension of his
project with a strong, operatic bassline and rhythmic syncopation. Movement
is now prioritized in a B side that sets a convincing balance between techno
and Detroit electro through a highly effective use of minimal elements.
Closed hi hats are uplifted through sections of rolling rides to keep the
pace persistent and the track tunneling. Parker then guides us to the final
pillar of 'The Burning Round Table' with his title track as B2, a logical
continuation to the song before. A sustained and highly saturated bassline
pushes through head bobbing percussion with a vintage sounding vocal sample
to wrap up the artist's sonic trip |

Propulsive
techno solicitations abound on Ideoma, the debut EP from Oscean, a
collaboration from Sebastián Galante, also known as Seph, and
Andrés Zacco. The two are figureheads of Argentina's techno sound, with
releases on labels such as Insurgentes, Echocord Colour and Ilian Tape over
the last decade. Galante and Zacco join forces for the first time with
inspiring effects, moving forward with vast paces, unshifting footsteps, with
uneven prisms of electronic rhythm. Its direct intent and crisp sonic detail
conjure a cinematic and nocturnal drive, unearthing subterranean pulses that
leave all in its wake. With Ideoma, Tresor Records presents a whirlwind of
dense movement and cosmic energy that twists on percussive bends and
distorting spirits. Spiral recalls natural phenomena, bound tight, with a
rugged texture like no other, as flickers of sound processing suggest
lift-off. The flanging Feral exudes a potent demeanour, wicked and unceasing.
The ebbing melodics of Spacion hark back to 90s ambient techno and yet
possess a rhythmic cut and thrust that navigates unchartered terrain.
Transmuting beyond planet earth, further into the extra-terrestrial, Galante
and Zacco mask fractal brush- strokes with hurrying rhythms. They smear
primitive and sharp sonics, pressed with dizzying resilience. The nosediving
FM synths of Austraal beckon a haunting trip, cloaked in a trance of motion
and forever eschewing all prediction |
