After a little break, Questo is
back with No. 007 - first time not only on vinyl. Protagonist of the - Dub
Ass EP is Berlin-based and good old friend BEE LINCOLN, who makes noise these
days with his label as usual.music! Two rumbling originals getting completed
with an excellent pack of remixes by Ukrainin guys OUTSTRIP and label head
FRANCCESCO BALLATO! - Dub Ass in its original mix is nothing less than a
bassy rave monster, which appears occasionally at the peak time in the center
of the floor and eats you. Definitely it's the kind of unexpectable and not
usual track, but the power of the synth bass has a taste of apocalypse.
Furthermore on the A side is the reinterpretation by Mr. Questo Francesco
Ballato, who strips down the elements and comes up with a groovin' minimal
techno remix. Taking the bass stabs and setting up effectively in combination
with the tuned percussions, creates a subtle driven piece which is
extraordinarily worthful playing/dancing it |

second Various Artists, Zingiber Audio 06. The hard hitting « Laboratory » is
delivered by More Than Material, the joint project between Jedsa Soundorom
and Gauthier DM. With releases on French Imprints like Adult Only, Robsoul
and Catwash Records, here the Parisian joins Zingiber Audio with a thumbing
sub and choppy vocals as tension building effects come into play. Meanwhile,
COR100's « House Test » offers groove-led drums and heady synths with a
plethora of supernatural sounds. On the flip side Jedsa Soundorom and

A
native of Poznan, the multi-instrumentalist composer/producer Waclaw Zimpel
has steadily been gaining recognition as one of the most singular and
original talents to have emerged from Poland in contemporary times. His
second solo album 'Massive Oscillations' is set for release on January 31st,
and is his first for the Amsterdam-based label Ongehoord. At various points
Waclaw deploys bass clarinet, alto clarinet, electronics, prepared upright
piano and Yuri Landman guitar object. Wojciech Traczyk adds double bass and
Holly Hock provides vocals to 'Release', whist all tracks were mixed by James
Holden, who according to Zimpel "added his magic touch". 'Massive
Oscillations' is Zimpel's most accomplished album to date - a hypnotic and
beguiling work given to moments of subtle euphoria. Gently rhythmic,
repetetive but morphing grooves are decorated with elegant musical
flourishes. An exquisite vertical listening experience, tracks rev like
ignition on a motor. They swell, undulate and breathe in a non linear motion,
hovering more than moving, or steadily levitating heavenwards |

years after "Instant Reality" (KA085) Diego Hostettler presents his
excellent new longplayer "Open" with 10 brand-new tracks on cd and
9 tracks on double-vinyl. The 24 year old Swiss producer is one of the most
active musicians at Kanzleramt. "Open" is already his fourth
solo-album and the sixth in total. Step by step, Diego's profile grew from
album to album until he found his records in dj sets from the international
dj elite: Jeff Mills, Laurent Garnier, Funk D'Void, Sven Vath, Robert Hood,
C1, Technasia, Adam Beyer, Chris Liebing, Ben Sims, Dave Clarke. But his more
eclectic and jazzy tracks (appearing on Diego's latest albums, especially
"Instant Reality") are also appearing in sets from Gilles Peterson,
DJ Morpheus and Michael Reinboth. The new album Open perfectly bridges the
split between usually incompatible genres without any visible or audible
conflicts.You can find early 90's old-school rave monsters hand in hand with

Far Out Recordings proudly
presents Cry Babies’ self-titled debut album from 1969. An early formation of
Brazilian funk greats Banda Black Rio, Cry Babies took inspiration from the
iconic US soul records of James Brown, The Isley Brothers and Kool & The
Gang, all of whom are covered on their first and only album. Pioneering
Brazil’s funk fascination, Cry Babies paved the way for the likes of Jorge
Ben, Dom Salvador, Trio Mocotó and Azymuth: with fat funky drum breaks, big

Buju Banton! When this LP hit the airwaves, all of reggaedom exhaled, and
Buju Banton instantly became the sun around which all other reggae artists
revolve. He satisfied reggae music & culture's constant craving for an
object of worship by delivering an album that could've come from Bob Marley's
canon at the same time that it's quintessentially Buju. Banton's coarse,
dancehall-honed bass rap breaks out into song for the first time here,
fulfilling Marley's demand that reggae vocals be rough, never
"pretty-pretty". The Rough Guide To Reggae honored the album as
Essential and selected it as one of the 100 best all time reggae albums.

Few of our friends have been
working with us since day one so it is with great pride and emotion that we
welcome our "very fantastic" friend Dachshund back on the label.
The Geneva artist graces us with two originals that we simply had to feature
on our Limited catalog. "Dream" is a nice bouncing shuffled groove
with a hypnotic loopey character to it, smoothly arranged with scattered
delayed vocals creating a clever yet slightly confusing "smokey"
club atmosphere. "Feel" is nothing short of a true masterpiece of
electronic music. A "pizzicato" stripped-back dry beat and metallic
modular sounding percussions take us on a mental and disconcerting trip. We
litterally fell in love with this number - it's dark but not too dark and its
insane synths and vocoders abruptly making appearances almost scared us at
times: very entertaining! Perfect for the early hours of the morning, keeping
the mind's attention and the hips in motion. Nothing is obvious, each role is
interesting and perfectly executed. Thank you! |

year for James Ruskin as he opens Blueprint's release schedule with a
stunning new EP. Looking back over 2019, the year saw Ruskin release 'Reality
Broadcast Off' - his first new solo EP in 5 years which gained Resident Advisor

ANNA drops a triple dose of heat
to mark her first EP on Drumcode. ANNA first debuted on Drumcode with the
irresistable groover ‘Portable Paradise’, which highlighted last year’s
A-Sides Vol.7 and set up a busy year playing DC events in 2019. There was the
memorable morning set at Space during WMC, two fiery gigs at Drumcode
Festival and typically strong performances at the DC takeover at Resistance
in Ibiza and Sonar. Fresh from her collaboration with Kittin ‘Forever
Ravers’, she steps up for a maiden EP on Adam Beyer’s flaghship label.
‘Galactic Highways’ is propelled by an arresting peak-time riff and bombastic
drums and was a storming addition to Beyer’s set at Drumcode Halloween
recently. ‘Dimensions’ is the powerful brain scrambler, as a blistering wall
of acid rubs shoulders with undulating bass notes for an dramatic finish.

Joakim
Cosmo is back with another record crammed with wonky and weird numbers. It's
obvious right from the start that Joakim Cosmo has a passion for machines and
it seems he's having a jolly good time churning out his own version of
Chicago music from them. Fissens lockvral is the kind of track that makes me
want to grow a big ol' moustache and join a motorcycle gang of leather
freaks. Tough drums are being propelled forward by an even tougher bassline
while FX sounds and bleeps are being ignited and thrown into a whirlpool of
echoes. Gagarin is pretty close to the Norwegian disco we have danced to so
many times but with distinct Chi-town influences. That cool Spanish voice
sample that reveals itself in the break makes me think of Ramirez. Brugte
Boner is going to set some dancefloors on fire! Perfectly shuffled drum
machines with a ba-dom-dom voice bobbing along with them. I think this is
what Fettburger refers to as basketball house is Cosmo is keeping it well
rejuvenated. Vocoder nonsense is my best kind of nonsense and that is what
Sabdoo Chimaa is all about AND then on top of that Joakim is jazzing it out
on the keys |

In 1992 Mudhoney left Sub-Pop and
signed with Warner Brothers' subsidiary Reprise Records. Having already
worked on a batch of songs, we set out to demo what we had. My buddy from
high school, Rolf Bertieg, and his friend Jim Collier had set up a studio in
the basement of Jim's house in the Wedgwood neighborhood of Seattle, where,
armed with a few tunes and several cases of beer we made these recordings.
The songs on this record would eventually be re-recorded and released on our
album Piece Of Cake, except "Knock It On The Head" which has
remained unreleased until now. (Maybe there's a reason for that, but I'll
leave it up to the listener to make that judgment). The energy and the vibe
of these recordings reflect how we wish the final Piece Of Cake would have
sounded. Hope you enjoy this archaeological dig through our past |

This is the the legendary
Krzystof Komeda Quintet caught live at the Jazz Jamboree Festival in Warsaw
in 1963. A marvelous combo featuring some of the greatest Polish Jazz
musicians such as Tomasz Stanko / trumpet, Michal Urbaniak / tenor sax,
Maciej Suzin / bass and Czeslaw Bartowski / drums. Komeda, Stanko and
Urbaniak were sort of pioneers who effectively opened up a way for Jazz in
Poland. Komeda's fluent modern Jazz conception was a perfect synthesis
between the American influence and a certain Slavic lyricism. The album
includes an astonishing version of "Ballad From Knife In Water"
from Komeda-s soundtrack for the 1962 Roman Polanski's movie. A major
statement in the East/ European music history |

the emergence of Eris Drew, we at IT have been blown away by the power of her
DJ sets, where she channels the psychedelic energies of rave and love -- the
music reflects the power of transition and of fully becoming who you are.
Part of what was so exciting to us is that her sets find a new path through
the sounds and ideas that inspired No Way Back and so many other wonderful
things. So we asked her to create an EP for IT that would reflect these
ideas, and our favorite ecstatic healer delivered! Here we find her carefully
exploring the intersections of House and Breakbeat culture, a proto rave ecstasy
music that exudes the Fluids of Emotion, higher consciousness and the
conceptual art of the KLF. Eris has previously released on a compilation on
Needs Not For Profit, and a split EP with her equally inspiring partner Octo

Though
known as a touring and recording musician associated with Nine Inch Nails,
Alessandro Cortini has really come into his own via his Forse trilogy, and
his 2014 Hospital Productions debut, Sonno. For his Hospital follow-up, he
maintains the grittiness and intimacy introduced on his debut, but expands on
it, offering a wider spectrum of emotion and depth. Like Sonno, Risveglio was
written and recorded while on tour. The drive to create intimate works during
late-night downtime reveal Cortini to be committed to personal vision beyond
the call of duty. While Sonno was created using only a 202 and delay,
Risveglio adds a TB303, synced to the 202. In his own words, 'The 303 can be
such a haunting instrument used in a certain way, and I felt it completely
fit the mood of the previous work I have done on the 202, especially when
given a specific location in space....it's such a living instrument.' The
addition of TR606 gives one of the pieces a rhythmic pulse that separates it
from the preceding synthscapes and renders Risveglioaltogether a more dynamic
affair than Sonno |

Youth team up with Morecambe’s Horror Pop Sounds imprint. (A previous
collaboration brought the world the wonderful “Tisch Tennis” by XAM Duo in
2017). Both labels are incredibly excited to release - for the first time -
and from the vaults of the Polish Radio Experimental Studio: “Smile Eyes And
The Children Folk”. “Usmiechniete Oczy I Dzieci” (Original Polish Title) was
briefly aired on Polish TV in the summer of 1983. A bizarre and surreal show
aimed at children; it was pulled from transmission after the first series for
a variety of understandable reasons. The story told of a small rural
community of children (all the adults had vanished inexplicably) who
worshiped a mythical figure called ‘Smile Eyes’ residing within a giant
mushroom cluster. The children must, at all times, adorn a variety of odd
masks which reflect their status within the community. The show is somewhat
forgotten now, yet there are a number of (now) adult groups that regularly
gather to celebrate this brief curiosity from their youth. The soundtrack is
by little known Polish TV composer Szczepan Buczkowski |

Founded
in 1970 in Dusseldorf, Kraftwerk was the only German band to rise from the
so-called “krautrock” scene to true international stardom. Of course, it was
partially their distinct look that set them apart. At a time when long hair
and scruffy clothing was the norm for musicians, Kraftwerk cut their hair
short and wore handmade suits. And at a time when guitar rock reigned
supreme, Kraftwerk did not even have a guitar player … in fact they soon did
away with instruments altogether, becoming one of the first truly electronic
bands. With the release of their fifth album Autobahn in 1975 (which mocked
the glorification of the shiny modern world that had been built upon the
rubble of post-war Germany), Kraftwerk finally achieved major stardom.
“Kometenmelodie 1&2” was recorded live in Paris during the Autobahn tour
and featured the classic Schneider/Hütter/Bartos/Flür line-up. Side B was
recorded live in Utrecht in 1981 shortly after the release of their prophetic
Computer World. It features their 1978 hit “The Model” plus hits from the
album, “Numbers” and “Pocket Calculator” |

on Eskimo Recordings with a double-sided release including instrumentation
from Dave Harrington of DARKSIDE contributing electric guitar, alluring
vocals by Lorraine Nicholson for 'On & On' and Dan Whitford of Cut Copy
fame, who helped record the synths. "This Soft Machine is a band at
heart. Recorded live at Linear Studios in Sydney in January 2015, everything
you hear on the record was recorded by human hands, played by some of my
