Serenace,
a mysterious duo based in Chicago and Berlin joins the Shaw Cuts squad with
"The Flying Guillotine" - a weapon shaped like a hat with a blade
rim and chain attached. The weapon serves to brutally quash any defiance
against the iron fisted Emperor Yung and his regime. The enforcers are twelve
specially trained fighters, The Flying Guillotine squadron. "Sheltered
In Absence", its pushing drums and energetic synth elements, chimes to
the cruel deeds of the squadron. The guard Ma Teng flees when he witnesses
the brutality unleashed by the men and the lethal weapon. The raging emperor
commands his fighters to capture him, but Ma has disappeared into thin air.
"Vitrine", a diverse groove combining swinging percussion and warm
melodies circles over head, helping Ma to stay undercover. The slaughter
continues as the squadron relentlessly search for Ma. Ma turns back and
confronts the army. Equipped with his own deadly weapon, he joins forces with
Kreggo and his "2in1" remix version, wiping out the squadron one by
one |

For
the 10th Shaw Cuts release, Lazarus and Farron join forces on their new
collaboration project Pollaar, defying Pai Mei and his alliance with the
ruling Manchurian Court who aim to quash the revolutionary rebels. Crane and
tiger techniques vs. the seemingly invincible versatile villain and his
squad. The story begins when Pai Mei and his entourage raid the shaolin
temple where the rebels have found refuge. Only a few rebels and students
escape the attack, among them, Hung Hsi-Kuan. "Haslam" and its
blasting drum patterns paired with bright sounding synth fragments help Hung
Hsi-Kuan and his copartners to safety. They finally find a safe haven with a
traveling opera group. Along the way, Hung encounters the fair Ying Chun,
herself a master of the crane technique. They fall in love and have a son,
Wen-Ting. Hung could not forget though, and dedicates himself to mastering
the art of the tiger style for the next ten years, to finally compete against
Pai Mei. The superiority of Pai Mei in the following clash is accentuated by
the vigorous drum punches and spacial undertone of "Bonucci Unit" |

From "Tomorrow" and
back to plus thirty years, more precisely in 1987, a teenager named Thomas,
Thomas Barnett the full name, released the track "I Can Feel It"
mixed by Juan Atkins, one of the first mix by who became the main DJ and producer
from Thomas's hometown, Detroit. Today "I Can Feel It" is a very
hard to find record that finally will be available for an official reissue
via Omaggio, after a skillful re-master from the original source by Andy Toth
former member of Detroit Grand Pubahs. History says that the '87 was a lucky
year for Thomas Barnett, who also written "Nude Photo" the second
ever release out on Transmat, credited to Rhythim Is Rhythim, definitely one
of the moment to define the genre. Well, we all agree to consider Mr. Barnett
an originator of Detroit Techno. From there Thomas travels across the world
as DJ and live performer and when at home he is a busy managing multiple
labels and still an illuminated recording artist |

On his debut album Travesseiro
Feliz (Happy Pillow) Rio de Janeiro based dreamer and new Far Out Recordings
signing Ricardo Richaid melds his tropical heritage with his love for
psychedelic music, jazz and rock. He also takes inspiration from the many Brazilian
greats – Caetano Veloso, Arthur Verocai, Ivan Lins, Joyce, Hermeto Pascoal,
Marcos Valle and Azymuth (to name a few) – who he has worked with as an
engineer, assistant and producer, in Rio’s former RCA studio, Cia dos
Tecnicos. As well as being heavily influenced by Brazil’s fabled Tropicalia
movement, Richaid is the grandson of Brazilian actor, singer and Disney star
Aurora Miranda (Carmen Miranda’s younger sister), so tropicalism is in his
blood. Describing his sound as ‘Industrial Tropicalism’, Richaid’s music is
undoubtedly a product of his environment. Just like Rio, it’s warm, hazy and
beautiful. But reflecting the current mood of his homeland, there’s an
ominous smog looming amongst its charm |

the bridge between the very first Spanish Punk Generation and the first
Spanish Hardcore Wave. During their 5 years of existence (1979-1984) they
only managed to record a demo and two impossible to find records. A
self-titled 7 track 7" EP and "Una Causa Sin Fondo" a 5 track
12". "La Larga Sombra Del Punk" compiles both those records
plus a 16 pages 11"x11" booklet with a long interview with the band
and tons of pictures and fanzine clippings. Musically they lay in between the
most aggressive parts of VICE SQUAD, DISCHARGE, ELECTRIC DEADS or even
SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES. Fronted by Silvia Resorte her voice became their
trademark always backed by an urgent band trying to figure out what hardcore
was about and a synth player that created a cold atmosphere over most of
their songs. This seminal band hailed from Barcelona and you can tell with
the desperate feeling their songs have. Their lyrics have that teenage angst
feel that only bands from the early 80's managed to write. Together with RIP,
KANGRENA, ANTI-DOGMATIKSS, VULPESS, DESECHABLES or LARSEN this band helped
putting Spain in the international punk map back in the day |

After
2017's 'Good News' School is Cool returns with their ironically named 'Things
That Don't Go Right' In an era when we're continually bombarded by images
showing perfectly face tuned people in whose ideal lives everything seems to
be going right, the tenor of international news seems to be that, in the
wider world, truly nothing is. In this light, 'Things That Don't Go Right'
was an obvious choice for a title. Very few things do seem to go right, in
life, do they? But on the whole, the production of this album went quite
smoothly. Inspired by the typically raucous energy of their gigs, the School
is Cool went out looking for the pure joy they knew when playing live. So
they recorded all of the tracks in four days, in one room, under the auspices
of veteran producer Reinhard Vanbergen. This adventurous collection of songs
is bathed in a classic rock glow, bursting with heady synth riffs, electronic
organ bossa nova and loud choruses. The album's inevitable labelling as Dad
Rock has less to do with two band members recently becoming dads than the
harmonizing guitar solos over long outros. Only the future will tell if they
can manage to steer clear of Dad Jokes and Dad Bods. Joking aside, all in all
this album sees a band at ease with itself, at ease with its flaws and fortes
and ready to try some new things. Michael and Hanne's watery guitars and
synths complement Matthias and Toon's compact rhythm section as if they've
been playing together for the best part of a decade (because they have).
Johannes's ironic yet rousing vocals deal with the big subjects:
listlessness, breakups, FOMO, masculinity and Australian reality |

A
firm Drumcode favourite, Mark Reeve is back with his latest techno opus.
Weaving his vitalising, biting techno through the seminal imprint since 2012,
Reeve has since become a permanent fixture within Adam Beyer’s camp. He saw
demand for his knockout ‘Run Back’ EP being matched and surpassed by his ‘Far
Away’ EP, which bagged the number one spot on Beatport’s techno chart.
Staunch DC fans will also be familiar with Reeve’s output on the label’s
A-Sides compilation series, and clubbers hot on the tails of Drumcode events
will have caught him centre stage across a string of showcases, including the
inaugural Drumcode Festival. Reeve’s music invariably endorses an arresting
sonic aesthetic, with intense melodies often driving in those eye-closing
moments. The title track ‘Distance’ is an atmospheric opening gambit set to
sonically massage the senses with uplifting pads and a radiant melody.

Neverdogs return to Decay to
deliver their ‘Stop & Repeat’ EP, with remixes from Andre Butano, Demian
Muller and The Willers Brothers. DJs, producers and now label owners, Italian
pairing Marco De Gregorio and Tommy Paone, aka Neverdogs, have experienced
their busiest year to date, releasing their debut album on their Bamboleo
imprint earlier this year whilst making appearances at the likes of The BPM
Festival, Amnesia (Ibiza), Music On Festival, Sunwaves and fabric (London) to
name just a few. Up next, the duo return to London based imprint Decay
Records this November following their collaborative EP alongside Matteo Gatti
on the label in 2017 to deliver ‘Stop & Repeat’, backed by remixes from
Andre Butano & Demian Muller, and The Willers Brothers. Title cut ‘Stop
& Repeat’ sees the Italian pair work slick organic percussion
arrangements amongst skittering synth lines, before Butano and Muller’s remix
takes things towards more electronic territories, introducing snarling bass
and off-kilter sci-fi sonics |

Vincent brings the heat with his first solo EP for Anagram, titled 'All
That's Love Has Been In Vain'. The EP opens with 'She Will Keep An Eye Out On
Catastrophe': a stunning modernist take on classically composed ambient
music. The title track is a melancholic and building track with a healthy
dose of four-to-the-floor power. We continue on the flip side with 'Join Us
In The Waves': a percussive and swingy acid workout. The last track on
ANAGRAM009 is Vincent's 'Everything I See Returns To You Somehow' and it
shows the more electro-oriented side of Stefan Vincent's productions with a
subtle wink to 90s IDM. Although his approach regarding this track stands on
its own, the same profound atmospheric vibe the rest of the tracks have
echoes through this layout as well. It's that same echo that stays with us as
one of the highlights of our discography comes to an end. Stefan approached
this release as a multidisciplinary composition, in which he explores both

Melody records is a brand new label operated by Bristol based dj Frankie
Downbeat. This label is a side project to the Downbeat Melody Soundsystem
owned and operated by Steve Rice. The first release will be a reissuing of
"Bird of Paradise" LP , a downbeat musical journey in Rocksteady by
"Count Bobo". Count Bobo are a 6 piece group from Bristol playing
in the style of early ska and rocksteady. Formed in 2012, they are part of
the Bloom collective. Their debut album "Bird of Paradise" was
originally released on limited edition 12 inch vinyl in 2015 by the band
themselves and mainly sold at live shows. Downbeat Melody proudly presents
this quality repress with fresh updated artwork. The album was recorded by
their producer Drezz at "The Tape Rooms". As a fully analogue
studio, the band was able to record live and straight to tape in an attempt
to emulate the records of their early influences. The playing style varies
from a traditional Roksteady section into areas closer to Ethiopian Jazz at
times as heard in tracks like "Melkor". The album features 11
expertly played instrumental tracks along with one somber haunting vocal
track called "Don't Get Left Behind" |

After the recent collaboration
with Walton for the last release, this release sees the return of the
"Stop Flapping Your Gums" instrumentals, with the second volume in
the series. The A-side, "Jaws", is a sharp and steely hard stepper
with a deep brooding bass line that evokes an ominous feeling. The skeletal
framework of drums prop up the sub bass, lurching inexorably forward towards
an unknown terror. Produced around the same time as the album on Planet Mu
you will have heard it in East Man sets on Balamii, Just Jam or Rinse FM,
usually accompanied by Killa P on the mic, laying his patois infused lyrics
over the top of this dread riddim. The B-side is another track that those of
you familiar with East Man sets will definitely know. "Border
Clash" is an up tempo onslaught of distorted kick drums and sub bass
coupled with clattering, wood-block percussive stabs that lend an almost
primal urgency to the beat. This one is ready to mash up any dance floor...

Greek producer has been cementing his name in the techno scene over the past
6 years with his own take of raw sounding techno. "Stronger Than
Fear" kicks the EP off with its tough and infectious groove. This is
classic techno with a modern touch, sharp stripped percussion plays with the
syncopated stab and melodic sequence for pure dance floor tension.
"Strictly Havoc" is a more distorted affair the distorted kick
plays with the percussion feeling loose and scatty to create swing against
the twisted and demented melodies of the synth line. "SKG Electrik"
- this is Endlec showing how simplicity can destroy any dance floor. Tight
rhythmic percussion and heavy kick drum meander and slip along the surface
while the stab is only adding to the momentum and pressure of this steam
train. "SKG Electrik" (Makaton Cordyceps Remix) - to close the EP
we have a remix from one of the original UK techno innovators, Makaton. The
remix starts with a hypnotic passage of Endlec's original stabs rearranged
into something more psychedelic and spaced out |

Okayama's
Tsuyoshi Hamada, better known as Dayzero, launches the new decade's next wave
of ZamZam releases with two sides of 140 sound system wreckers we couldn't be
happier to unleash. Wicked releases on Sentry, Heavy Traffic, Vomitspit, and
FKOF have set the stage for this 7" stormer. Deftly amalgamating
influences from reggae, hip hop, and old school dubstep wobblers, Dayzero is
a master of momentum and swagger, captured here in dubwise style &
fashion. "Orbit Dub" is a cascade of dirty drums- smashing snares
& rusty hats, deep-anchor sub and mid-range wub movement, all of it
drenched in reverb, with a snippet of sound tape and siren looping in the
distance for contrast. "Theory Dub" clears the air for a wary view
of a dystopian world torn by war and environmental collapse. With an intro
cut from lacerating hi hats and test tones, kick and bass double in a
pounding minimalist trudge, stopping only to blare distorted horns over an
empty, forgotten battlefield. These are rare tunes that manage to be both
destructively heavy and intoxicatingly elated at the same time. Full points

Formed
in early stages of the British punk explosion by four high school mates in
Finchley, north London, Eater quickly established themselves as one of the
youngest and rawest bands on the scene. Lead singer Ashruf Radwan had an
Egyptian heritage, hidden by his alias, Andy Blade, and guitarist Brian
Haddock became Brian Chevette once in the fold< Ashruf's brother Lutfi was
the group's first drummer, joining under the name Social Demise, but was soon
replaced by Roger Bullen, playing under the moniker Dee Generate, while
future Vibrator Ian Woodcock was the resident bassist from their second gig.
Inspired by a line in the T Rex song, "Suneye," Eater was
influenced by the classier side of glam rock but was very much a rapid/fire
power/punk concern with their own output. Headlining spots at the Roxy club
alongside The Damned, The Lurkers and Sham 69 solidified their reputation,
especially once their material made it onto the live compilation album issued
by Harvest in 1977, and after footage of their appearances at the club were
included in Don Letts' Punk Rock Movie. Signing to Dave Goodman's fledgling
punk imprint, The Label, Eater issued three singles before their greatly
anticipated debut album (which surfaced after future Slaughter and the Dogs
member Phil Rowland joined on drums), which has since been hailed as an
all-time classic< pointing their fingers at upper-class twits on songs
like "Lock It Up" and taking the piss out of themselves and their
fans on "No Brains," the album also features two Velvet Underground
covers and an unusual David Bowie adaptation, all delivered in
no-holds-barred triple time |

The Ogyatanaa or Burning Fire
Show Band was one of the more esteemed of the funky highlife groups that
rocked the Ghanaian music scene during the 1970s. The band was formed in 1971
by diplomat turned composer, musical arranger, organist, vocalist and record
producer Kwadwo Donkoh (a former member of the Uhuru Dance Band), with
guitarist and bandleader Nana Ofori Atta (AKA Ahomansia Wura) and other
members that later left the group. The Ogyatanaa Show Band made a rapid
impact, scoring second place in the National Dance Bands competition after
being together for less than a year, thanks to their superlative arrangement
of the oft-versioned highlife classic, "Yaa Amponsah," a tale of a
mythical woman which became a popular single when issued on Donkoh's Agoro
record label |

are proud to welcome Fear-E for his Dark Entries debut 'Grey Skies In A Dear
Green Place' out February 28th. Fear-E is the moniker of Scott McKay a
Glasgow based DJ and producer. Scott has already made a name for himself as
one of Glasgow?s most technically-gifted and diverse selectors over the past
decade. Then a slew of releases on the home-grown Dixon Avenue Basement Jams
and Super Rhythm Trax introduced Fear-E, equally skilled studio operator, to
the world. 'Grey Skies In A Dear Green Place' contains six club-ready tracks
to 'smash sound systems and illuminate sweaty warehouses.' The title is a
reference to a nickname that Glasgow has, coming from Cumbric, means 'green
hollow' or (dear) 'green place'. Layering cut-up vocals with warm thumping beats,
Scott creates a stripped-back yet deeply jackin? vibe. Call these tracks what
you will, ?acid attacks?, 'club destroyers', 'pickle ticklers?!' All songs
have been mastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios. For the cover, Scott
commissioned legendary Detroit illustrator Alan Oldham, who?s artwork has
graced established an identity for Transmat and DJAX-UP-BEATS, to create a
futuristic portrait of Glasgow in black & white and with green kryptonite
flourishes by Eloise Leigh.d |
