"Heroes
Of The East", a story about love, pride and rivalry is re-written by
Belgian producer Placid One who's style perfectly fits to the Shaw Cuts
trademark sound. The story begins with an arranged marriage between Chinese
Kung Fu student Ho Tao and Japanese Yumiko Koda who is highly-trained in
Karate. They live together happily until one day, they decide to practice
together. "Morse", its blazing pads, energetic percussion and
powerful rhythm weaves and chimes in sync with their intense and raw training
duel. Relentless arguing about which martial style and philosophy is better
leads Koda to become offended, so she returns to Japan. "Foothills"
is a bright, sonic force field and its pulsating drums set the tone for a voyage
of mixed emotions and self-doubt. Marital and cultural misunderstandings lead
Koda's former school in Japan to send seven of their strongest students to
fight Ho Tao and prove which country has superior fighting styles. Spurred on
by radiant pads, chasing percussion and the heavy kickdrum of
"Melopee", Ho Tao wins all battles, two by trickery. He even begins
to admire and learn about Japanese culture and martial prowess |

A pretty interesting find for La
Bella Di Notte who digs this super rare and weird white label offering with
some retro-futurist imagery. Things kick off with "Space Disco".
While the instrumental edit is a joyful, string-led number, the dub edit
takes vibe on a deeper, more clubby tip. "Elephungk (Percapella)"
closes side A, which is a wigged-out tech-house tune with garnishes of
intergalactic effects. "Head (F.)lu(X.)" on the flip is a catchy,
arpeggio-driven track with excellent sub-bass and a groovy mid-paced house
tempo. The journey ends with "Guiro" a slow, electronic broken
beat/synth workout with dark, alien undertones and anti-gravity keyboard
sequences. Do not miss this one! Collectors item! |

St.Petersburg
Sound System are HOAVI and TSKTCH. The two have been widely known for their
solo projects, with releases ranging from every kind of genre you could only
think of. No wonder that the production versatility has brought them together
to collaborate and join the creative forces in studio. Instead of going after
a particular sound, the duo was mainly focused on experiments with sound and
improvised one-shot jams, results of which were mostly unpredictable, yet
unique and unearthly. The sound shaped by the cultural capital of Russia we
could describe as a mysterious pathway between cinematic ambient and hazy
atmospheric dance music. The buildings, the nature, the weather and all the
surroundings are translated into the sound reflecting the musicians'
connection with the city. All elements on this EP are incredibly well
orchestrated and arranged.There are not so many cities that were privileged
enough to be associated with a certain music genre like Chicago or Detroit,
but we are more than certain that their signature sound is opening a new

Italian
film composer Piero Umiliani began working with the trumpeter and actor Chet
Baker during the late 1950s. Of part Norwegian and Anglo/Saxon origins,
Chesney Henry Baker Jr was born into a musical family in the small town of
Yale, Oaklahoma, in 1929. After singing in the local church choir, he began
playing trombone but soon switched to the smaller and more manageable
trumpet. He joined the US Army just after the end of World War II and played
in the 298 th Army Band while stationed in Berlin and began studying music
theory at El Camino College in Los Angeles, following his discharge, but
re-enlisted to play in the Sixth Army Band while stationed at the Presidio in
San Francisco. Out of the Army for good in 1951, he played with saxophonists
Vido Musso and Stan Getz before joining Charlie Parker for a series of West
Coast live dates. He then joined the Gerry Mulligan Quartet, becoming a
mainstay of the Los Angeles jazz scene, until Mulligan's drug bust forced
Baker to form a quartet of his own. Chet Baker And Strings was issued by
Columbia in 1954 and he began recording for Pacific Jazz the following
year< cast in the film Hell's Horizon, Baker turned down a Hollywood
studio contact to travel to Europe, touring the continent for eight months,
which resulted in the album Chet Baker In Europe. Heroin became a significant
part of the picture in this era and when he began working with the arranger
and conductor Ezio Leoni (aka Len Mercer) in Milan in 1959, Baker was
arrested for drugs and jailed in Pisa, temporarily disrupting the
proceedings. Baker and Umiliani first joined forces in 1958 for the crime
film I Soliti Ignoti (AKA Big Deal on Madonna Street, Persons Unknown or Le
Pigeon), reportedly the first instance of jazz being used for an Italian
comedy film< Il Paradiso dell'Uomo and Smog followed. Italian Movies draws
from the best of Baker and Umiliani's cinematic collaborations, the
atmospheric compositions backed by a group of session players centred on
drummer Ralf Ferraro, acoustic bassist Berto Pisano, guitarist Enzo Grillini,
tenor saxophonist Livio Cervellieri and Franco Ciari on vibraphone, along
with Baker's expressive trumpet leads and composer Umiliani on piano |

new record just like that. Of course, this is only half the truth, as we
named all six other UV050 compilation records after colours as well. The
purple one, this one right here, is the second to last, completely with the
wonderful artwork by Leipzig's Doppeldenk and four tracks to dance your ass
off to. Krakow's Chino shows us how to balance perfectly between
straightforward urgency and mystic playfulness. His acidic FORBIDDEN VOICES
sports just the right amount of chaos to make you go crazy on the dancefloor.
Being a spiritual brother for a long time, it's actually the first time
Berliner Johannes Albert releases on Uncanny Valley with his VISION UTOPIA, a
subtle House bomb, that pushes just the right buttons to trigger your desire
to escape into cosmos. Also from Berlin comes Lake People, who does what he
does best with ROAMING THE STREETS: A subtle and razor-sharp track that
points out that good dance music can sweeten your life everywhere, not only

Desroi cuts his unrivaled skill

Border" draws from a dazed palette of concise and forceful sounds and

austere, the EP has its moments of stormy brutality that punctuates the
mesmeric synth cycles to inspiriting elation. "Bright Blood" and
"Gauze Covers Flaw" appear tethered at the base by cavernous low

Desroi cuts his unrivaled skill
to combine power and pace into four new tracks again. "Vermillion
Border" draws from a dazed palette of concise and forceful sounds and
thus raises the bar on his lasting run of EPs. Tightly oscillating and resoundingly
austere, the EP has its moments of stormy brutality that punctuates the
mesmeric synth cycles to inspiriting elation. "Bright Blood" and
"Gauze Covers Flaw" appear tethered at the base by cavernous low
end and heady drum machine programming which drives the work. Closing track
"Empty Eye" might present Desroi's most funky work to date,
rounding the EP off with a single warping synth motif shifting through sonic
spheres |

From
Another Mind continues to establish itself as a vital contemporary techno
outlet with a fresh release entitled "Der Weg Des Kriegers EP" from
label founders SHDW & Obscure Shape. This German pair hails from
Stuttgart and share a unique vision in the studio. They have a no frills,
straight up vibe that results in tracks designed for darkened spaces and
serious crowds. As DJs they draw on the old and the new from acid, EBM and
rave, and match the energy of their productions in their sets. After a big
2019 they keep up the pressure here and head into the new year in fine
fashion. First out of the blocks is the brilliant "Der Weg Des
Kriegers" with its hammering, high speed kicks and choppy percussive
patterns. A distant, sombre siren draws you ever further in as the track
rolls on relentlessly and grows ever more wild. "Endgegner" is an
all-out frazzled techno rave with scraping hits and distorted kicks driving
along and whipping crowds into a frenzy. Picking up the pace is
"Feuersturm", five minutes of banging techno with arresting synths
shooting out of the mix like lasers and sure to get hands in the air |

a limited edition 180gram collectors picture disc vinyl with original &
legendary producers who shaped the Drum & Bass scene. First on SPEED is
the legendary 'Techstep' originator DJ Trace aka Duncan Hutchison. DJ Trace
remixed T Power's 'Horny Mutant Jazz' (S.O.U.R.), now more commonly known as
'The Mutant Remix'. This classic underground D&B 'cult' track went onto
inspire a plethora of other producers, and was hailed by many as the dawn of
'Techstep'. On this picture disc you'll find two harsh, deep 'Techstep'
tracks, 'Twister' on the A side & 'Apocalypse' on the AA side with that
distinct Trace spirit which still lives on today. Collectors please note:
This release comes as a strictly limited 180gram Silver Handnumbered Picture

Butch
returns on his OTHERSIDE imprint this February alongside C.Vogt on the deep
and hypnotic Parallels. Inspired by Call Super, the EP also features two
contrasting remixes from Delaphine label boss S.A.M. and the unmistakable
Skudge. Parallels opens the EP, a typically mind-bending rhythm develops with
intricate layers of percussion, as a meditative and eerie melody ebbs and
flows, leaving you both hooked and perplexed in equal measure. Mandar member
S.A.M. turns his hand to the first remix, morphing the original into his
style with dreamy, glowing synth that washes over an acid-tinged bassline.
Finally, Skudge up the ante, crafting a loopy techno remix that features
driving hi-hats and their trademark curious stabs that nod to the warehouse
and create a smouldering atmosphere. Dynamic wizard Butch heads up his vinyl
imprint OTHERSIDE, a label he has badged as an outlet for “a soaring heart
and a flying mind”. The label has steadily released mesmerising contributions
so far from Marcel Janovsky and Bartaub alongside collaborations from Butch

In
recent years, pianist and producer Mirek Coutigny has worked on his own world
of sound with electronic and acoustic instruments. He improvised on sketches
he wrote over the last 10 years and reworked them for piano, strings,
percussion and electronics. The common thread running through “The Further We
Ventured” is a fascination for the “suburbs”, more specific, the contrast
between the often similar facades and the diversity of stories behind those
facades. This is also reflected in the contrast between the acoustic elements
of the record (the “Safe Gray” of the neighborhood in which you grow up) and
the slumbering electronics (the “Colorful Danger” that typifies a child’s
raving imagination). This second album sounds a lot more intuitive and organic:
where debut album “Revisions # 1” was a record of thoughts, “The Further We
Ventured” is a record from the heart. Sometimes complex, sometimes amazingly
accessible; comparisons with Jóhann Jóhannsson or Ólafur Arnalds are never

Luz
Azul is a group started by LA-based vocal and performance artist Anna Homler
(aka Breadwoman) together with musicians Marcos Fernandes and Robert Montoya
in 2007. On this record they compose their own mesmerising cosmic universe
where the hypnotic speaking in tongue voice of Anna Homler blends mesmerising
together with the sound of her found toys intensified by the shamanistic
percussion of Marcos and the pulsating electronics of Montoya. As fellow
percussionists and sound artists, Marcos Fernandes and Robert Montoya's
collaborations began in 1983 and ran the gamut from ambient to noise, rock to
electronica to improvisation. Both were founding members of Trummerflora, a
collective of creative musicians based in San Diego from 1999 to 2009. All
three artists were active in the improvised music scene in Southern
California and met at Spring Reverb 2006, an annual festival of experimental
music curated by the Trummerflra Collective. At the time, Fernandes was
experimenting with processed percussion as well as phonography and samples
while Montoyawas exploring improvisational possibilities on the computer |

Borokov is Arne Omloop, Boris Van den Eynden, Noah Melis and Yorgos
Tsakiridis. Following a year full of highlights on stages of festivals such
as Best Kept Secret (NL), Down The Rabbit Hole (NL), boillerroom.tv (UK),
Braindance (BE) and Fusion Festival (DE), Rotkat Records starts 2020 by
releasing their second studio-album, a record that only contains duets. It
became a collection of 11 songs on which 26 people collaborated and a
desperate attempt of Borokov Borokov to express themselves and others in more
than 10 genres. Men and women such as Dijf Sanders (GameboyzIIMen), Frederic
Croene, Fenne Kuppens (Whispering Sons), Ludo de Vriendt (WWWATER), Martha
Maieu (Penus), Mathieu Terryn (Bazart), Marcel Vanthilt (Arbeid Adelt), Marka
(Allez Allez), SSHT, The Germans and W. Ravenveer offer musical contributions
in the form of Gameboy-bleeps, blowing the fuse, amateur choral singing,
cheap excuses, wet piano tunes and the closing of doors. The music was
recorded in studio SPOOK, the backstage area of BKS (visitor center
safaripark), the artist village of DITW, the waiting room of de Hulpkas voor

Nastia Reigel’s long-awaited
sophomore EP on Dustin Zahn’s ‘Enemy Records’ has finally arrived! Disarm to
Surrender demonstrates a perfect balance of artistic taste and technical
ability. The EP starts off with the heaviest track, Horses. Backed by hypnotizing
chopped-up vocals, the track hammers through steadily with no compromises.
Trace follows in a more restrained and minimalistic fashion but manages to
retain perfect tension. The B-side starts off with Natural Desires. It’s
equally as hypnotic as the A side but more spatial and groove-focused, making
it an ideal candidate for warming up or winding down. The titular track
Disarm to Surrender completes the EP in a more abstract way. The track hints
at the noise and post-punk leaning influence found in her alternative

Kumar, ex-Raging Fyah lead

with I Kong at his Wickie Wackie festival in Bull Bay, Jamaica. From then,
the musical friendship never stopped, doing different types of collaboration over

style, Phuture Shock Musik very proudly present "La Busqueda" - the
debut album from multi-skilled musician Damian Botigue aka to the long player
format. Barcelona-based producer and Karmasound. Having released his first
12" "Probabalidades" EP on the Bristol imprint to wide acclaim

existential themes, "La Busqueda" stands out as the producer's most
personal and accomplished work to date, where jazz - particularly of the 70's

sound, yet with a contemporary electronic-infused spin and loosely within a
