If
you were around some 36 years ago, and you are still around today, then you
will again enjoy three of the six hit songs that ruled the music airwaves in
Nigeria's 80's, filling you with nostalgia. If you are of today's people,
then you will be fortunate enough to enjoy three evergreen songs that will
take you to cloud nine. Chuks Ejelonu, undoubtedly, Africa's answer to
America's Stevie Wonder, at the age of 18, released an album on vinyl titled
"Let's Make A Memory" in the mid 80's. It contained six hit songs
that made great impact on the music scene. Selling thousands of copies in the
West-African sub region it would go overseas months later, were copies of the
album would hit the streets of London and New York. Despite being widespread in
some regions, only a hand full of copies are located to this day. With the

Formed
in 1979 in the northern English town of Fleetwood, Lancashire (a former major
fishing port that had declined since the 1960s), One Way System was one of
the most highly-rated 'Street punk' groups that spun off from the British
hardcore and Oi scenes. Mowhawk-sporting lead singer Gavin Whyte was
initially joined by guitarist Craig Halliday, bassist Gaz Buckley and
rapid-fire drummer Tez McDonald< the early demos of "Jerusalem,"
"Spokesmen For Teenagers" and "1980s" included here were
cut with that lineup, before former Zyklon B member David "Crabby"
Ross joined as second guitarist, yielding the incendiary single "Stab
The Judge" and the No Entry EP, issued by Blackpool's Lightbeat Records
in 1981. Halliday later quit the group and when McDonald joined The Fits,
accomplished drummer Tommy Couch brought a totally different musical
dimension, his command of the kit well beyond the abilities of most of his
contemporaries. In addition to the demos and the Lightbeat material, this
compilation also collects the singles and EPs issued by Cherry Red's Anagram
subsidiary between 1982-84, including the inaugural 45, "Give Us A

Following
the abortive appearance of Japanese psychedelic band Apryl Fool, who imploded
after producing an album and an EP for Columbia Japan in 1969, bassist &
keyboardist & singer and main creative force Haroumi Hosono and drummer
Takashi "Rei" Matsumoto formed Happy End with guitarist Shigeru
Suzuki and guitarist & singer Eiichi Ohtaki. The new group's self-titled
debut, released in 1970 on URC, the pioneering independent label founded by
guitarist Hayakawa Yoshio (initially as the affiliated imprint of mail order
company, Underground Record Club), evidenced more cohesion than the Apryl
Fool LP, instead of the lengthy, excessive freak jams of the earlier set,
Happy End's track list took the form of more easily digestible slices of
Japanese psychedelia, the understated drumming perhaps referencing
Matsumoto's veneration of The Beatles. Of course, with song titles that
translated as "Unflyable Sky" and "Enemy Remember
Thanatos!" the music was certainly adventurous. The group would continue
for the next few years, before Hosono began to concentrate on solo work, as
well as various side projects, which would culminate in the formation of
Yellow Magic Orchestra |

7 were formed in 1997 by producers Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker. In 2001
their debut album Simple Things was released selling over a million copies to
date and was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. Follow up, When It Falls
was a Top 10 album, peaking at no.4 in the UK album chart & US Billboard
Dance/Electronic chart @ 3. Their third album The Garden was released in
2006. It also peak at no 4 in the UK album chart spending 7 weeks in total
there. It has sold over 125k copies. In the USA, it entered the Billboard
Dance/Electronic chart at #2 and stayed in the Top 20 of that chart for 5
weeks. Singles taken from the album include Futures featuring José González,
Throw It All Away and You’re My Flame both featuring Sia. The vinyl LP has
been discontinued and second-hand copies of the original pressing are
changing hands on Ebay and Discogs for north of £125; This re-issue will
mirror the original release, cut over 4 sides and using the original artwork
but now pressed on heavyweight 180g vinyl. It was remastered & re-cut by
Loud Mastering using their original cutting notes & hi res 24bit original
sound files. The Garden is another timelessly classic album from a seminal
electronic band and an essential soundtrack to any laidback listening. Press

The second vinyl release on
Manjumasi comes from intriguing Swedish producer Karl David Ola Sabel, aka
Birds ov Paradise. A master of darkly shining brilliance, his work is at once
deep and murky, yet textured and detailed. The A-side, Köpp, is an insistent
and slowly building journey. Shimmering metallic synth tones float over a
staccato bassline that develops powerful energy throughout the track’s
crescendo. On the B side are two very complementary selections. Bosse kicks
off with a hard-hitting broken-beat groove that is punctuated by potent bass
hits. Up top, space is created by a wafting layer of haunting and ethereal
atmospherics. Next up is Gubben, with some of the darkest sounds on the EP
set amidst an energy that manages to simultaneously feel both sinister and
playful. Reversed bass tones and punchy percussion set the mood, making way
for the track’s incredible and eerie vocal elements |

The
ultimate modern marriage between pure traditional jazz, orchestral
arrangements, and the mathematics of electronic music, Belgian instrumental
duo Glass Museum are set to release their sophomore album 'Reykjavik' on the
27th March via Sdban Ultra. Since 2016, Glass Museum's raw, sunny energy has
been uniting the surgical precision of the best contemporary jazz, a la Gogo
Penguin and Badbadnotgood, with the electronic influences of Jon Hopkins or
Floating Points. Consisting of Brussels musicians Antoine Flipo (synths) and
Martin Gregoire (drums), Glass Museum have risen through the ranks and they
released their aptly named debut album 'Deux' in 2018. Having initially won
the opportunity to perform at the Dour Festival, Tournai back in 2016, Glass
Museum have picked up a series of awards and distinctions back home in their
homeland and they now find themselves dining at the top table of Europe's
contemporary music scene. The international music scene opened itself to the
band in 2019, with the duo performing at Elb Jazz 2019 in Hamburg, the
legendary Ancienne Belgique in Brussels and the Iceland Airwaves Festival |

After
a short break since 2007, Proyecto Secreto is back (Bruce Lee not yet). A few
smashing performances later, culminating in a comeback at the last Ghent
Festivities with Lien De Greef and Paolo Marquez as guests, there is now a
new release with skalosal songs that include Dave Hillyard and Vic Ruggiero
from The Slackers. The album was mixed by Latin Grammy Award winning engineer
en dub master Victor Rice. The Belgium newspaper De Standaard wrote at the
time: "Colorful Proyecto Secreto is a promising addition to the Belgian
summer festivals. Ska with cumbia or latin swing with mambo, this tight and
groovy Belgian orchestra is not afraid to make daring musical
combitinations." Proyecto Secreto still plays a mix of ska, reggae and
tropical rock that catapulted them to the best stages in Belgium and Europe.
The previous record, Bruce Lee is Back, from 2003 has since become a
"standard" in the ska world. After the many requests from
skafanatics, who had to wait 12 years, the Proyectos are fully charged and
there is finally the long-awaited come back. In the early 2000s, they played
at just about all ska and world festivals and clubs in Belgium and went on
tour in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. The first tour in Spain
in the summer of 2000 ends with the recording for the Brixton Label and a
follow-up tour in the Basque Country in August 2001 |

don Reinier Zonneveld looks set for a massive hit with his latest track,
which reworks the stunning melody made famous by PPK’s 1998 smash
‘Resurrection’. Zonneveld made his remix of the trance classic to play in his
live sets, and it proved to be so popular that he felt it simply had to be
released. He and his team set about trying to find the rightsholder of the
original melody so that they could license it. This journey led them not to
PPK, but to the original composer: the now 82 year old Russian electronic
music pioneer, Edward Artemiev. He wrote the melody for the soundtrack of a
1979 movie called ‘Siberiade’. Zonneveld wrote him a letter asking if he
could grant him permission to release his take on the melody. Listening to
Reinier’s new interpretation of ‘Resurrection’, Artemiev was immediately sold
and approved it to release. One of the earliest composers to adopt the
synthesiser, Artemiev has a pioneering legacy that lives on through this new
version that has been so skilfully crafted by Zonneveld. Moving on to the
track itself. Pummeling old skool hardcore techno kicks thump under filtered
layers of bubbling synths as an ominous tone is set early on |

Gothenburg, Sweden based artist DJ Lily heads up the BROR and LILIES labels
and has been releasing his high octane take on techno via both of them over
the past few years, as well as welcoming the likes of Arkajo, Jor-El aka Joel
Alter and Sandra Mosh onto the imprints with original material. Here DJ Lily
returns to LILIES with four fresh techno cuts for LILIES5, his first EP since
BROR05 back in early 2018. "Lilies Were Here (I'll Carry You Home Little
Foal)" leads on the package with a sturdy percussive foundation while
ethereal pads, echoing synth swells and pummeling low-end tones wander
throughout. The "Dadda Made Me Do It" mix of "Lilies Were
Here" follows next, this time opting for robust 4/4 drums, vacillating

hits double figures with a stylish fifth installment of its Sampler EP
series. The co-founder himself features next to Vivian, Toki Fuko and Tom
Liem. Tetelepta goes first with more of his cavernous and dubbed out grooves.

A new release this winter marks a
landmark moment in an important musical story. Way back in little 2009, the
label hfn music was born in Hamburg, and made its introduction to the world
with the release of the Trentemøller compilation Harbour Boat Trips: 01
Copenhagen. Founder Tobias Lampe wanted to start a label that was more broad
in scope than his previous, more electronic-focused projects, and the
compilation provided the perfect opportunity to launch one. In the 10 years
since then, the label has survived the whirlpool waters of the early 21st
century’s constantly changing music industry, and released everything from
pop to art-punk, with artists ranging from New York to the Faroe Islands.
Now, they’re about to put out their 100th release. Fittingly, given the
label’s focus on new and innovative music, and the historic aspect of the
release, hfn100 sees one of hfn’s best songs of 2019 put into the hands of

home, in the islands of Cabo Verde, there was grog, or grogu, a strong
sugarcane moonshine not dissimilar to Colombian aguardiente, copiously
consumed at Funaná parties. In the diaspora, in Europe, there was leite
quente (hot milk). "I can still remember the taste of the first leite
quente I drank in Lisbon," says Antonino Furtado Gomes, Pilon's drummer
and current band leader. Synthesize the Soul, Ostinato Records' second
compilation, revealed chapter one of the Cabo Verde cultural story in Europe,
zooming in on visionaries like Paulino Vieira who made Lisbon the
headquarters spearheading the musical revolution taking place within Cape
Verdean emigre communities across Europe in the 1980's. Musicians from across
the diaspora would eagerly travel to the Portuguese capital to record. Grupo

RX-101
has quietly been making waves in the IDM/electronic music underground for the
past few years, through a series of archival releases — material recorded in
the late-90s, but previously unreleased until Suction Records began compiling
and releasing these records in 2016. What’s truly mind-boggling about
RX-101’s output is the sheer quantity of stunning, top-drawer material that
Dutch producer Erik Jong recorded over the period of just 3 years, 1997-1999.
Many have suggested that the whole thing is a publicity stunt — some
insisting that this is all new material masquerading as vintage, while others
have proposed that the material may in fact be a secret alias for Aphex Twin
to release gems from his own legendary ’90s audio archive. RX-101 has absolutely
nailed the sound, and quality, of early-90s AFX/Rephlex, that much is true.
“Serenity,” this latest full-length RX-101 release, is no exception. Just as
RX-101’s last album, 2019’s Dopamine, concentrated on one hallmark of Aphex
Twin’s sound — the smooth melodic techno of his Selected Ambient Works
1985-1992 LP — so too does Serenity reference another classic early-Aphex
era, but this time it’s a completely different beast. Don't let the title
fool you - Suction Records' latest dive into RX-101's 1997-1999 tape archives
is not all lush, serene melodies. On Serenity, scorched, crunchy jackhammer
beats combine with emotional, plaintive pads, delivering a classic set of
vintage-Rephlex-style bliss, à la AFX, Caustic Window, and Cylob. It was
Cylob who coined the term Industrial Folk Songs for his classic 1995 LP, and
that release is clearly a blueprint for RX-101’s latest collection |

delivers their debut EP on legendary Finnish X0X Records. AlphaZero EP
introduces five tracks + a remix by Morphology. Musically you can describe
these tracks as minimalistic, scientific & funky electro with great
vocals/vocoders. There is also strong reference points to Dopplereffekt,
Drexciya, Arpanet and others like, but still Krypton 81 manages to bring up

Based
out of a Portland and working as a teacher, film composer, and mentorship
under Mark Orton (Nebraska, Tin Hat.) Eric Phillips' musical vision for
Kennebec - a catalogue of his time spent in the Olympic Peninsula - led to
him producing ‘Departure’ in Spring 2017. It took two long years of patient,
daily labour to complete the album, during which time influences such as
Studio Ghibli soundtrack composer Joe Hisaishi, cult hip hop artist Nujabes
as well as Australia’s Taylor Crawford and Tycho’s ambient electronica began
to permeate the soundworld. On February 14th 2020, Night Time Stories, sister

instruments on an epic instrumental trilogy ("At Sea/The Wreck/Gone All
Jetsam") that travels from folky prog moods to the hip-hop side of his
production where loops become deep and hypnotic. The album treats us with 2
vocals tracks, respectively "Hoş Geldin" (which translates as
"Welcome"), another epic and funky journey beautifully sung by
Derya Yıldırım, and "Flow Up, Flow Down", a cross
between Disco and Afro-funk, soulfully interpreted by Benny Gordini from

Palestine's majestic 1976 work The Golden Mean, originally performed by
Palestine on two pianos, is revisited here as The Goldennn Meeenn + Sheeenn,
a new collaboration between Palestine and enigmatic musician Rrose. March
2018: the Festival Variations in Nantes commissions Charlemagne Palestine to
reinvent The Golden Mean for two pianists. Palestine chose Rrose to join him
in this new rendition of the work. Together, they performed The Goldennn
Meeenn + Sheeenn onstage at the main opera house in Nantes -- the sumptuous
Théâtre Graslin – with extraordinary results. The concept of the 'golden
mean' goes back to the roots of mathematics, and ancient Greek philosophy. It
is an important work in the Palestine mythos, embodying his total immersion
in the power of the interval. "It's probably his most systematic work .
. . a step-by-step journey through the intervals of the octave," says
Rrose. "When we rehearsed it, we were noticing how each interval is like

Trends
come and go as we have seen, unlike many, Brooklyn-born Adam X isn't one to
follow trends, but rather set them. Now entering his 30th year of DJing and
25th year running his Sonic Groove label much of the world of dance music has
come full circle since Adam started back in 1990. With that said there was no
better time to explore his vast back catalog then the present as it's all the
more relevant right now. As many younger contemporary techno djs have taken
to the faster, harder, stronger route as of late, this was par for the course
back in 1992, where this compilation begins. What we have here is a
collection of formative psychedelic acid tracks specifically made for the
raves that were happening all over the world at the time. Many of the tracks
here had previously appeared on cutting edge labels such as Direct Drive,
Drop Bass Network and Magnetic North, who were all spearheading the sound at
the time, we also get two unreleased cuts from the vaults, plus a rare collab
with Thomas Heckmann. Back then the goal was simple- to push the limits of
this fresh sound, and see how far they could actually go with their 303s;
this music now filling warehouses and clubs worldwide. The eleven tracks on
this record undoubtedly take rave-extremity to new heights whilst keeping the
integrity (and brutality) of the music intact and the crowd in a frenzy.
Guaranteed to destroy the club as much now as they did in back 1992.

Cai
Bojsen-Møller co-founded the original Multiplex imprint and released his
debut solo album A Bit of Something on the label in 1996. Cai is an
accomplished drummer and his acoustic talents shine through in his electronic
work and 909 skills. Out of the circuit for fifteen years, he now returns in
stunning form! Released as a two part EP, this is the second half of
"The Spirit of Man and Machine". The idea behind which, evolved
around the point where organic elements meet and elevates the programmed part
of the music. Much music today is completely quantized, but to make things
flawless, risks the loss of feeling to digital perfection. Emerging from the
Danish rock scene in the early 80's, correctness was nothing to strive for.
With the formula of analog synths through an analog mixer and the drums and
sequences recorded live, with a mindset for the right vibe, Cai's new tracks
ties in well with his 1990's productions. Mark Broom returns to Multiplex to
deliver his “Skank Mix” of Cai’s “Decomp” track, which Broom has churned into

Multifaceted
artist Patrick Mason and Rekids boss Matt Edwards return with their next
release as SRVD, entitled ‘Black On Black’. Since teaming up two years ago,
Matt Edwards (Radio Slave) and Patrick Mason have continued to blur the lines
between pounding techno and live avant-garde performance under their SRVD
alias. Following performances in Barcelona, Melbourne, Berlin London and
Tokyo, and with support from the likes of Sven Väth, Rodhad, Chris Liebing,
Laurent Garnier and many more. The formidable duo now return to their home
imprint, Rekids, with two tracks both recorded in Bordeaux in 2019, using

Greek-born,
Krakow-based DEAS is a producer of unusual stylistic and emotional breadth,
possibly the result of growing up with a range of cultural and geographical
influences. His fourth EP on Second State continues his impressive run, a
mosaic of moods and textures that coalesces into a cohesive, compelling
whole. ’Space Race’ brings a futuristic cosmos to mind, a track that’s at
once urgent and foreboding, yet light on its feet. Arpeggiating laser synths
glide over peppy drum patterns in a manner that encourages dancefloor mayhem.
’Apart’ is a little more sinister but still highly danceable, with a
propulsive bassline, noodling lashes of acid and an almost psychedelic vibe.
’Index’ strips it back and places the drums front and centre in a less-is-more
piece designed to keep the party chugging, while “DRMS”, another
percussion-based track, adds trippy effects to enhance those slightly
sideways moments. ’Radiation’, meanwhile, is a journey in the true sense of
the word, a track that morphs from atmospheric to tense and back again in an
arrangement that’s uncluttered, yet highly effective at creating a sense of
delicious unease |

To
some movie directors, the music heard in their films seems as (or more)
important than the images seen or the dialogue spoken. Many Quentin Tarantino
fans would regard a Reservoir Dogs without "Stuck in the Middle with
You" or a Pulp Fiction without "Misirlou" as not Reservoir
Dogs or Pulp Fiction at all. Tarantino describes his perhaps unsurprisingly
musically-inspired method of film conception as follows: “One of the things I
do when I am starting a movie, when I’m writing a movie or when I have an
idea for a film is, I go through my record collection and just start playing
songs, trying to find the personality of the movie, find the spirit of the
movie. Then, 'boom,' eventually I’ll hit one, two or three songs, or one song
in particular, 'Oh, this will be a great opening credit song.'" Each one
of Tarantino’s films is undeniably exciting, raw and groundbreaking, and his
skilfully conceived soundtracks can be charted with the same visceral energy
– this is one his ultimate musical strengths. In the process he has left a
long list of iconic scenes that would be the sames without his musical
bad-assery. To name just a few: The Opening of Pulp Fiction with Dick Dale
& His Deltone's "Misirlou" or Kill Bill, Vol. 1's epic final
showdown between Uma Thurman and Lucy Liu's characters with Santa Esmeralda's
"Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" in the background. And what about
Reservoir Dogs' shocking torture scene with Michael Madsen dancing and
singing to "Stuck In The Middle With You" by Stealers Wheels. The
Tarantino Experience pays tribute to one of the greatest filmmakers of the
last 50 years and his uncanny talent. Featuring music from and inspired by

The
Real Sound of "In Heat": the disclaimer on the album states,
"NOT produced by Shel Talmy" (The Who, Kinks). The original version
of the album "In Heat" as it was intended to sound. THE FUZZTONES
have been around for over 30 years as a garage rock revival band. Though
originally from New York City, they work mainly in Europe where their brand
of retro 60 trash rock burns up radios from Hungary to Poland to Italy. The
original "In Heat" was released in 1989 at the peak of the garage
revival, when bands like the Chesterfield Kings, Lyres, and Cynics were all
the rage. Unsurprising, the music industry turned a blind eye, yet
miraculously THE FUZZTONES signed a major label deal with RCA. Label politics
had the band in a "real" studio with a "name" producer
who watered down their unharnessed energy and snotty attitude. In the end the
original disc was a second rate affair with most of the grit rubbed out only
to die a sad, quick death at the hands of critics who never appreciated the
band's live act anyway. With the resurgence in garage rock in The Hives and
The Strokes, the time may be right again for THE FUZZTONES to get a second
shot. "Raw Heat" therefore turns the clock back in time when garage
rock rivaled punk as the most exciting musical scene to come along in
decades. Produced by founder&guitarist&singer Rudi Protrudi and
Jordan Tarlow (Outta Place, Morlocks) the recording gets a second wind when
"Heathen Set" comes roaring out of the speakers. The running order
has changed from the original recording putting more power up front. Both the
classic church organ and dangerous guitars are better controlled in the mix
(originally the organ overpowered the whole thing) |

Deep Nigerian late 80-s
Digi/Roots Reggae LP . Loaded with dope digital roots riddims filled with mad
synths , deep conscious lyrics and a deep bassline, it-s quite unique as the
two main track comes with a raw Dub which isn-t very common on any other African
Reggae albums , the last track call "If I-m To Rule The World" is a
very interesting blend of Reggae and Boogie. The Lp never really saw a
commerical issue and was probably pressed in very few promotional copies for
Radios and Djs making the original nearly impossible to be found nowdays. The
cover has been fully restored and Audio remastered , the LP we-ll comes with
an insert with Lyrics , original pictures from back in the days *and a few
new ones( , a newspaper article from 1990 and an extensive interview by

Carlton Livingston, is a well
known Jamaican Reggae artist, who started his career in 1978 at Channel One
(Ja) with the track: ‘Tale Of Two Cities’. Subsequently he recorded for many
JA ‘labels’, Studio One, Thirllseekers, Taxi, Dynamite and others. His most
notable and best known recording is ‘100 Weight Of Collie Weed’ for Percy
Chin (Jah Life Rcds). The album which features the track is still available
(Greensleeves). This release, recorded for producer Phillip ‘Gadd 59’
Whittaker, features a new song on an up-dated original mid 1960’s Rock Steady

Tommy
McCook was not only a founding member of the legendary Jamaican Ska group The
Skatalites, but also a brilliant musical arranger. His informed understanding
of Jazz, R&B and in fact most music styles would always add another layer
to any song put his way. This made him the go to guy for most of the Jamaican
producers, who would use his arrangement skills to pepper up their latest
tunes. Tommy McCook, (b1927, Havana, Cuba) came to Jamaica with his mother
from Cuba aged 11 and entered renowned Alpha Boys School for underprivileged
children, a school that placed great emphasis on musical tuition. At the
tender of 14, such was his talent he has left to join Eric Deans Orchestra
and took on stints with other bands led by Don Hinchman and Roy Coburn. All
the bands played in the Swing and Jazz style of the times. He relocated to
the Bahamas in 1954 where he further developed his Jazz technique and upon
his return to Jamaica in 1962 began working Coxsone Dodd’s Studio One and
became involved in the development of Ska. His knowledge of Jazz, R& B
and Jamaican musical forms helped set the tone for the group of musicians he
was working with and would name the Skatalites. The group, consisting of Don
Drummond (Trombone), Roland Alphonso (Tenor Saxophone), Jackie Mitoo (Piano),
Lloyd Brevett (Bass), Lloyd Knibbs (Drums), alongside Tommy himself on Tenor
Saxophone. The group would back all the major Ska vocalists pf the day and
would also go on to cut a catalogue of instrumental music. The Skatalites
split up in 1965 and Tommy McCook moved over to work with Duke Reid’s
Treasure Isle Studios where he formed The Supersonics. A set of musicians
under his guidance that consisted of Lynn Tait and Ernest Ranglin (Guitar),
Neville Hinds and Winston Wright (Organ), Gladstone “Gladdy” Anderson
(Piano), Hugh Malcolm and Arkland “Drumbago” Parks (Drums), Clifton “Jackie”
Jackson (Bass), and Tommy and Hernon Marquis (Saxophone). The more laid back
sounds from 1966-1968 would be given the name Rocksteady of which again
McCook was at the forefront. The top producers like Bunny Lee would use the
musicianship of Tommy McCook and his arrangement skills to enhance this new
sound. We have compiled a great selection of rhythms that featured McCook
blowing over tracks stripped of their vocals and replaced with some fantastic
lead lines played by Tommy and some of his fellow horns men. We hope you
agree like we do that they do this in fine style |

The
Prince became a King, never a truer word spoken when you look at the career
of King Jammy. We focus here on the early days of the Dancehall scene which
stretched across the 1980’s. Picking up the story at the tail end of the
1970’s, just before the sound became digital and computerised. King Jammy’s
production always being of such high quality, that telling the difference
between his analogue and digital productions was always a job for the
experts. As you can see from the recording details all these tracks were cut
in those heady 1977-1979 days. The reggae sound again was about to turn into
what we would later know was it’s Dancehall period. Although cut in the late
70’s, some of these tracks would not become hits until 1980’s had arrived.
King Jammy pivotal 1985 cut Wayne Smith’s “Under Me Sleng Teng” based on
digital computer rhythm, was still a few years away. We still think these
fine tunes we have lined up here for your enjoyment, fall under the same
umbrella as they contain the same Dancehall feel where the rhythm has slowed
down and the snare sound pronounced. Fine tunes that bring us back to a time
and provoke memories when Mr Jammy’s stable of artists never sang so sweeter
or sounded better. All the top flight hitters are here, Johnny Osbourne with
his place evoking “Trench Town School” and his massive time defining hit,
“Folly Ranking”. The mighty Black Uhuru with their political charged “Time To
Unite”. The sweet sounding voice of Mr Sugar Minott, pulling us all in with
his “Right Track” cut. Anthony Johnson who cut many hits through the 1980’s
for Jammy, is here with his telling tale “Get Ready”. Even the aforementioned
Wayne Smith sings out his pre-digital hit “Wicked Man”. Hugh Mundeell’s
“Bottomless Pit” and Rudo’s ode to the firehouse district scene “Ain’t No
House”, all killers and no fillers. Hope you enjoy the set… |

The late, great Philippe Van Mullem aka Quadran was the man behind
Innertales, this project was a much deeper concept than his previous and
latter outputs which revealed another layer to this guy’s talent. Responsible
for putting us on course in the progressive trance scene, Philippe has left
behind an unparalleled legacy, and while he may no longer be with us, that
legacy remains strong. Odyssee, originally a B-side on Innertales – Part Two
(Hard Times Recordings) takes us on a surreal, emotional, melodic fuelled
trance journey. Soft notes are encapsulated by striking pads and gentle
arpeggios. A solid bassline ties the track together while a tight drum
arrangement keeps the groove flowing. On the flip we find Oudja aka Gregory

Shht is the fruitful result of a

Noneketanu. Much more a result of collaboration than its predecessor, the
music featured on the album stems from a busy year crammed with jamming and
performing as a strong, grooving unit. Lyrically, the subject matter zooms in
this time, to deal with a much more personal experience of joy and sorrow.
Since the release of their debut album, Love Love Love (2018), Shht has built
up quite the live reputation, and as for the follow up they set themselves
the challenge to capture this live energy in the form of a recorded piece of
music. The result is Noneketanu, spanning from simple songs to unprecedented
polka rave, it was recorded mostly in live takes, adding only a few overdubs

It's been a little while since
I've put an EP out on Holding Hands. It's been super fun working with On
Loop, Touch From A Distance and Futureboogie but it definitely feels great to
be back at home on my own label. For my first release of the new decade I
have whipped up four club focused bangers with a nice bit of variety. A
smattering of electro, breaks, 2-step and dark UK funky. They are all
relatively fast paced but you should hopefully be able to find at least one
track for a set at any time, early, middle or late. OK enough of my blather.
Go and listen to the damn things yourself and decide if you like them, rather
than trying to work it out from reading a bloody press release you weirdos.

To mark Osiris's 60th release,
label head Simon Shreeve dons his Monic guise for a richly saturated
three-track EP that pays homage to the label's Drum & Bass origins and
Shreeve's own past as Kryptic Minds. From the screaming call-to-action horns
of 'Regeneration' on the A-side, to the creeping menace of 'Research Methods'
and the Jazz in fuelled beats of 'Always for Tomorrow' on the B-side, a
return to the rhythms and textures of D'n'B contrasts Shreeve's recent
outings as CUB with Karl O'Connor, solidifies Monic as his most experimental,
genre-defying, and preconception breaking alias |

Deformer
and Bong-ra are established names in the alternative dance scene and pioneers
within extreme electronic breakbeat oriented music. Having successful solo
careers, they joined forces on a side project in 2014 entitled VOODOOM. The
project can be described as dark ritualistic jungle , inspired by oldschool
UK Jungle combined with their menacing signature sound. Third member
Scapu-Lox brings a totally unique ingredient to the music by adding vocals in
Surinam language to the recipe. In 2015 PRSPCT Recordings released their
self-titled debut album and it hit like a bomb. It was picked up by BBC Radio
and helped enforce a Jungle revival in the club scene. Their international
performances, dressed up like haunting Voodoom priests, made VOODOOM a festival
favorite. VOODOOM was soon invited by Japanese label MHz to produce a
soundtrack for Q Hayashida s populair manga series Dorohedoro which resulted
in the track Blaka Smoko . In 2017 PRSPCT Recordings released their ep
Tribesmen which again was very well received. Since VOODOOM was always
considered a side project, in 2017 Bong-Ra and Deformer decided to focus on
different ventures and put VOODOOM on hold. Now for the first time all
VOODOOM tracks are compiled on a double disc compilation CD, including the
highly sought after Blaka Smoko track, unreleased dubs, a special remix by UK
Jungle pioneer Bizzy B and new artwork by Mike Redman. Junglists already know
