In het holst van een ijskoude winternacht werd hij wakker in zijn bed en
kreeg een paniekaanval. Hij wist niet goed wat hem precies overkwam, maar
strompelde naar beneden, schonk zichzelf een glas wijn in en schreef het
nummer "Zoeken Naar Mezelf". Enkele dagen later nam hij middels de
zelfontspanner op zijn camera in het weiland om de hoek de bijhorende
videoclip op. Ziedaar het ontstaan van de onnavolgbare uitdrijving der
demonen in liedjesvorm genaamd Willy Organ, een homerecording DIY-artiest pur
sang. Soms verschenen er meerdere nummers op 1 maand. Er was geen concreet
plan of doel, enkel de urgente innerlijke noodzaak om te schrijven. Vrij snel
werd zijn aanstekelijke muziek opgepikt door vogels van diverse pluimage.
Jonge kunststudenten op zoek naar zichzelf, mannen van middelbare leeftijd
verwikkeld in een vechtscheiding alsook de maitresses van diezelfde mannen
leken zich te kunnen identificeren met zijn naar catchy beats vertaalde
diepzinnige, poetische teksten. Inhoudelijk gaan hard realisme en absurditeit
hand in hand, maar ook de muziek en bijhorende videoclips manifesteren zich
in een spagaat tussen schoonheid en lelijkheid, humor en bittere ernst,
verdriet en euforie. Hij laat zich inspireren door velerlei muziekgenres, ja,
ook door wat sommige onverlaten zouden omschrijven als 'foute' muziek (als
bestond er zoiets als 'juiste' muziek). Het betreft hier een zoektocht naar
dat oergevoel van hoe een kind muziek beleeft, onbevlekt, zonder zich de
vraag te stellen: "Is dit wel 'cool' genoeg?" Willy Organ steekt
als Jonge Plant net zijn hoofd boven het maaiveld en deze plaat verzamelt het
beste van wat hij in 1 jaar bij elkaar schreef |

Historically
informed violin player, prize-winning street musician, new age
experimentalist, chamber ensemble performer and conservatoire deviant. The
career of Valentina Goncharova (b. Kyiv 1953) shares parallels with those
associated with the broader new music movement of the 20th century and the
dissemination of home recording technologies. Valentina’s was a youth spent
immersed in the world of classical music study under soviet rule, first in
Kyiv and later in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) from the age of 16. With the
supervision of professors M. Vayman and B. Gutnikov she learned concert
violin and developed alternate playing styles alongside skilled pianists. A
student of the Leningrad conservatoire during the years 1969 through to 1983,
her repertoire included music for violin and later expanded to contemporary
music composition. The improvisatory nature of free jazz and then-budding
experimental rock circles also intrigued Valentina during this period in
Leningrad. Departing from the rules of the conservatoire, she briefly
performed in underground rock clubs alongside future members of the
industrial group Pop- Mechanika (Popular Mechanics). This perpetual state of
flux is central to the variety found within ‘Recordings Vol. 1’, though as opposed
to any degree of uncertainty Valentina’s practice is one in flux by way of
earnest curiosity. Pushing further into an exploration of solo
electro-acoustic sounds, she took to home taping on a modified Olimp reel to
reel recorder. Intrigued by the manipulability of dubbing and the fresh
sounds of DIY effects chains, Goncharova developed pickups alongside her
husband Igor Zubkov. Her infatuation with the music of Stockhausen, Xenakis,
Ganelin Trio and Pierre Boulez channels through considerations of space and
erratic sound design, the three movements of ‘Metamorphoses’ embodying this
textural approach to musique concrete. The compositional skills developed in
Leningrad unfold in the romantic gestures of ‘Higher Frequencies’, whilst
manipulated cello combines with synthesise keys across ‘Passageway To
Eternity’. The slow, pulsating drone soundscapes recall the likes of Robert
Rutman’s US Steel Cello Ensemble or even deep listening pioneer Pauline
Oliveros |

Capodopere
are back with their yearly wax phenomenon, having Suolo on the sixth issue
after stamping the catalog with Fanfaronade and Fenomen releases. He has seen
touchable changes within the last couple of years as the visions morphed into
more subtle and dusky ones, tailoring the pieces to the new eyes wide open
conception.
The ready-steady-go is how we have seen the outset of this
record as “No Proof” slams into the speakers with an assaulting force, taking
over the surroundings and advancing into the layers of bass lines. Some
elements of the piece are carrying geological provenience as Suolo has
grounded the percussions and laid the path for the coming vocals. It is
certain that the magic happens around the deliberate vocals that as well as
their enchanting presence throughout - mark the lively beginning of a musical
hike. As we move to the next episode of the chronicles, “Rudiment” speaks a
lot about Suolo’s founding bases, with the heavy lower notes being the first
ones to reach the receptors. With no dissonance for ourselves, “Rudiment” is
where he achieved the perfect balance between the low and high, inside a
spiral of circling ambient buildup |

is Bit Folder? There have been whispers about the identity of Central
Processing Unit's latest signing, and many theories have been presented as to
who's behind the project. Some say it's a young upstart fresh on the scene,
others insist that this is the work of an old head. Either way, initial
investigations have proven inconclusive, and the Bit Folder project remains
shrouded in mystery. There may be a way to untangle the Bit Folder riddle
through listening to the artist's new EP Silicon Frontier. There is classic
early Warp in here, a dash of Rephlex too. More contemporary styles also come
to mind - FireScope, the label helmed by B12's Steven Rutter, and Analogical
Force are two of the imprints recalled, and Bit Folder also shares some space
with fellow CPU artists Datassette, Noumen and the aforementioned B12. What's
for sure is that Silicon Frontier is a futuro-rave adventure that conjures up

pork scratchings in the Working Men's Clubs of days gone by, Todmorden-by-way
of-Europe trio Syd, Jake and Giulia are about to fling open the doors of
their own millennial social hub with the fresh post-punk of infectious debut

trying to get in to pubs in social clubs because that's all we had. The name
is an ode to that,' explains Working Men's Club's 17-year-old singer and

After
his frst appearance on Specimen Records as a part of the, SPECTRO-017 with
his track “React”, Arsonist Recorder now comes with a frst solo-EP on the
label, in which the producer reaches back into some deeper, almost trippy
states of mind, accompanied by some ultimately addictive electro grooves. The
frst track, “Vaxxer”, which also titles the EP, puts up a warehouse-worthy
beat, handing out bass-punches as it moves along. A rude hi-hat pattern
shuffes the groove, and once the rhythm has you hooked, some lush eerie synth
patterns start to emerge transporting the listener to the rooftop of a
skyscraper in a dystopian city. Next up is “Oxidant”, which was written with
a close friend in mind who was going through some diffcult times. The strong
determination of the pulsating bass, overlayed by a very emotional melodic
element leads you from the contrast to unity, refecting, pushing forward.
“Multiverse” comes in with a thunderous boom, reminiscent of a huge spaceship
landing, which could be a metaphor for events that land on top of our heads,
which we have no control over and have to deal with |

world. Fascinated with the sight, I once again started thinking about my
unknown origins and the reason why I, Kalila, was at that place at that
moment. A memory. The Priestess at Hathor's temple. The glass flask. I put my
hand in the pocket of my tunic and with surprise found a small flask filled
with a red liquid. My head started throbbing wildly, eyes closing for the
pain and the priestess's bright face appeared in my mind telling me
"Drink and you'll come to life again." I drank. Feeling my body
slipping and melting with the sand underneath. A vortex of feelings and
memories wrapping itself around me. I knew who I was. I knew what I had to

dead calm had invaded the night. The temple's music and the perfumes had
already faded in the air. I arrived at the oasis in the dark of night,
standing in soft, fresh sand. Finding myself in a kingdom of silence. Sotis
had just made its appearance in the sky and was showing itself timidly to the
world. Fascinated with the sight, I once again started thinking about my
unknown origins and the reason why I, Kalila, was at that place at that
moment. A memory. The Priestess at Hathor's temple. The glass flask. I put my
hand in the pocket of my tunic and with surprise found a small flask filled
with a red liquid. My head started throbbing wildly, eyes closing for the
pain and the priestess's bright face appeared in my mind telling me
"Drink and you'll come to life again." I drank. Feeling my body
slipping and melting with the sand underneath. A vortex of feelings and
memories wrapping itself around me. I knew who I was. I knew what I had to

It
has been two years since the first compilation on the Various Artists series
(PEVA) of Pi Electronics and the concept has stayed true to its aim: to
present a coherent selection of the label's favourite collaborators from the
roster and parties over the years. Bringing together Greek and international
artists, this compilation opens with a 10 minute recording by the combined
forces of Orphx and JK Flesh (Justin Broadrick), from a live performance
recorded in Amsterdam. Meanwhile we also showcase the resurfacing of Vofa,
the joint project of producers Sawf and ANFS. There is a variety of options
in this 13 tracks release; from the raw and harsh textures of An-i and New
Frames, to Lycurgus live drum set recordings, Kondaktor's African percussive
electronics and Sarin's EBM infused techno. Some more techno interpretations,
such as the hypnotic moods of Stave and Fragedis, or the more punchy sounds
of Restive Plaggona and Poison Green. These shape the full picture of this
second Pi Electronics compilation titled "Divide & Rule" |

The second release of Resketch is
opened by the Ibiza-based talent Ildec, a playful long-lasting track, perfect
for the early morning hours. With the first release of their project
"SameSame" on Winder, the two guys now following up to continue,
provide a fresh breeze on the dance floor. Mate Koss brings a strong bass
line with moving synths and shifted hihats, paired with a groovy breakbeat.
B1 ties in almost seamlessly, CNTRL delivers an incredibly strong groove on a
breakbeat basis paired with some oldschooled sounds and rolling 303 elements.
Jan golly closes the wax with a hypnotic firework of deep, sharp and
mesmerizing percussive rhythms. Experimental yet straightforward, Jan brings
a timelessly fresh cut that captures you instantly, folding you into its
insatiable groove |

Debut
album by Cindy is aptly called I'm Cindy. Produced by Kai Hugo a.k.a.
Palmbomen II. Vinyl comes with a 20-page handmade booklet, an individually
signed and kissed handkerchief of Cindy (some of them even have her teardrops
on them) and a huge fold-out poster! Who exactly is Cindy? If producer Kai
Hugo used oblique strategies it would be this question that's been central to
his past four years of musical output. First appearing on his 2015 LP
Palmbomen II as the titular subject of the track Cindy Savalas, her life has
become intertwined with the producer's. "Following that release, I made
a music video for Cindy Savalas, where Cindy came to life through the
portrayal by Blue LoLan,' Hugo explains. 'I really felt a connection with
this character and went deeper into developing who she was and the world she
lived in. The result was the creation of the LP Memories Of Cindy, where my
goal was to reveal more about Carmel Vista, the town Cindy lived in.
Afterwards, I imagined Cindy having her own 'lost' album, as if she had once
released a record that was kind of forgotten.' |
