it is time for a finish. Here's the seventh and last chapter of the
festivities that we put together for our 50th catalogue number. Once again,
the mighty graphics wizards Doppeldenk from Leipzig provided us with a
delightfull artwork. And once again, you'll get a record that sports a
kaleidoscope of sophisticated dance music from Uncanny Valley veterans and
newcomers. This time with the emphasis on bright and positive timbres which
can be associated with the colour yellow. Cuthead starts things with a bang
and his PARTY CHORDS set the tone perfectly (including neck pain after
nodding your head to the beat like there's no tomorrow). If chords could be
president this would get a lot of votes. Massimiliano Pagliara shifts down a
gear with the acoustic road trip SUNSET FUNK, a masterfully arranged track,
made up for driving around on your bike, skateboard or whatever vehicle you
are using to get from A to B. The slow and sexy IWESU YEWISU from the soul
brothers of Duererstuben is a longtime favorite in the Uncanny Valley
headquarters. We are super happy that this groover will finally see the light
of day |

Radio
Matrix returns! In the strangest of times a somewhat prophetic message
reached us. A message delivered by Immediate Proximity, a collaborative
project by Diana Napirelly & Niels Luinenburg, known for his output as
Delta Funktionen. Their message comes in the shape of an album called '2334'.
It covers nine tracks that perfectly act as the soundtrack for our society
during COVID-19 times. With tracks and titles like The Apocalyptic Techno
Cult, Broken Ether, Clone Morph or Skynet Skanner, we find our self on the
brink of a new era where machines and algorithms have taken over humanity.
Metallic beats kick hard and eerie melodies are placed against rhythms that
remember us of ancient tribes carrying out ritualistic dances in order to try
to escape the machine world. Fortunately, behind this somewhat dark and
apocalyptic mood a strong statement appears and calls for hope and
experience. It gives the listener a path to look beyond the horizon. This
release is limited to 150 copies. Printed on 350g incada silk paper with high

timing. Based in Barcelona, and powering through songs in their mother tongue
of Catalan, this livid and catchy record is like MOTORHEAD at 78rpm with the
vocal phrasing of the PEGGIO PUNX or INDIGESTI. Sounds like the bass is made
of wiggly melted down Gitoni players, and the guitars have Big Muff pedals
wedged in the amplifier cones. Punk at this level of disheveled velocity and

Recorded at the Lighthouse Café
in Hermosa Beach, CA, on September 13, 1953, this is a historic recording for
many reasons, and one of the earliest meetings of East and West Coast jazz
artists. While Miles Davis and Chet Baker need no introduction, Harold Rumsey
might. He was a West Coast jazz bassist who formed the Lighthouse All Stars
in 1949, a long standing group that performed at the Hermosa Beach club every
Sunday night for nearly a decade. Though he might not be a household name,
his group featured such alumnus as Jimmy Giuffre, Shorty Rogers, Max Roach,
Bud Shank, Sonny Criss, Hampton Hawes, Shelly Manne, and more. Featuring
rousing renditions of 'Round Midnight', Night In Tunisia', At Last', and the
killer drum solo from Roach, Drum Conversation', this is a brilliant window
into the 1950s LA scene, and Miles' particular ability to fit into nearly any

Alva
Noto returns to his much awaited Xerrox project with Vol. 4, the fourth
installment of the five-piece intended series based on the concept of digital
replication of source material. Using the process of copying as a basis, the
Xerrox series deals with the manipulation of data by means of endless
reproduction. Due to the inherent fallacy of the procedure involving the
making of copies made from other copies, everyday’s sounds become so altered
that they can be hardly associated with the source material. As a result,
entirely new sounds are created: copies of originals become originals
themselves. Following Xerrox Vol. 1 (2007), Vol. 2 (2009), Vol. 3 (2015),
Carsten Nicolai continues the pentalogy eluding the accuracy and precise
sound design for which he’s renowned, and turning to a more harmony-driven
composition technique. Unlike the previous Xerrox albums, whose starting
point is a set of samples extracted from external sources and fragments of
recordings, Vol. 4 compounds under a unified cinematic soundscape, warm
chords, thrumming digital ambiences, liquified electronics, drones, and noise
sustained by floods of strings. The tension between the organic warmth and
static curves, broads tones into distant roars and electronic cascade of
sounds. While Alva Noto's oeuvre is predominantly affiliated with pristine
sound design, Xerrox holds more intimate gestures and emotional sensibility.
This fourth volume shuns further from the conceptualism and orderliness of
prior musical outputs, ranging from heart-warming elegies to mind-bending
sci-fi projections in extrasolar territories |

been almost three years since our good friend Giorgio Maulini made his first
appearance on the label. Since then, it's only been upwards and onwards for
the young talent, between founding his own imprint and events label
"Underground Town" and becoming a Modernity resident, to name only
a few achievements. Spaceport is a driving yet fairly stripped-back piece of
music, somewhere in between tech-house and micro-house. The omnipresent synth
riff is a backbone to a solid groove just right for buillding up towards
middle of the night intensity. Atmospheric synth chords bring a delicate

Matthew
Herbert's Accidental Jnr imprint are back with their second release of the
year, this time inviting rising London based star Third Son into the fold.
The Polymath label boss has been causing quite a stir in the house music
scene with releases for 17 Steps, Skint and Sincopat as well as clocking up
remix credits for among others Marc Romboy and Maya Jane Coles (under her
Nocturnal Sunshine alias). "Bag O' Bones" opens up proceedings with
its clattering toybox percussion, throbbing kick drums and dissonant lead
stabs. The track has a brittle, dry quality to it, but Third Son's ear for
the dance floor is clear as the arrangement smoothly rolls along at firm a
pace. More of the same is served up in "Chime Salad", with layers
upon layers of wonky, shifting percussion, building up into a tower of sound
that feels as though it should come crumbling down, but somehow always stands
firm. The B1 "Phase Of Going Through Life" brings the energy back
down to earth with its slightly sparser arrangement and clips of bird songs,
while still maintaining the off kilter pace of the previous pieces |

used to devastating effect. Following on is the laid back synth swells of
Erosion Of Time, which leads into the more pronounced hits of Anthe, which

injected edgy house cuts on this new Klasse Wrecks! For the last 3 years SJ
Tequilla (Naota Matsuda) and Aaty Matoba have been a regular but hidden
fixture in Berlin's underground music scene. You may have caught them at
their regular spot in a dark tunnel next to the sprawling Ostkreuz station in
Kreuzberg, lucky to sneak a quick listen before the cops came in and shut
things down yet again. Armed only with an electrical generator, a 606, 303
and various dub echo delay units the pair have slowly been refining their
Teknobusker project into quite a special thing. Proving that creativity
blooms best when using a limited set of tools, the SJ Teknobuskers music is
gritty and dark but also retains an important sense of humour. WRECKS029 was
recorded between the years 2018-2019 and does a deft job in capturing a
flavour of the rhythms, tones and squelches that echoed down the tunnels
during Berlin's endless summers |

union of Bochum Welt and Central Processing Unit makes perfect sense. Here we
have a principal figure from IDM's 90s heyday linking up with an imprint that
has brought the sound and spirit of Rephlex Records into the modern day. As
such, it is unsurprising that Bochum Welt's label debut, the 2019 LP Seafire,
has quickly become one of the most vaunted releases in CPU's extensive
catalogue. A few months on from the release of Seafire, the Italian artist
returns to the Sheffield imprint with Seafire Remixes. As well as a pair of
new versions from Bochum Welt himself, this five-track set also contains a
trio of tunes which rewire Seafire originals - one remix apiece from EOD,
James Zabiela and Telefon Tel Aviv. One can think of Seafire Remixes as chronicling
a night at the club in reverse - at least until its final track. 'More Light
(Radio Edit)' and 'G1 (Ambient Mix)', the two Bochum Welt originals which
kick things off, maintain the heady glow of Seafire. Both are lovely, wistful
lilts, full of gently-pattering drums, plumbingpluming synths and keening

Chaplin is best known as a silent movie star, but he was one of the few who
made a successful transition to "talkies", and also became a
prolific and inventive composer of soundtrack music. An article on
CharlieChaplin claims: "...the pinnacle of his composing career is most
assuredly the complex and innovative score to Modern Times (1935-36). It
marks a vast mental and practical leap from his previous score to City Lights
made up of primarily dance-band forces of fewer than 30 musicians, to the
symphonic proportions of 64 players as required by Modern Times. This
decision was not so much due to many a composer’s inherent taste for
ego-driven sound power, as is so often is the case for new composers who,
upon hearing their work for the first time, are allured by the mere numbers,
but rather it was a conscious choice warranted by the film itself. The
thematic imagery of Modern Times would provide a complex array of symphonic
ideas to any composer, but no more so than to the man who created them in the

Switching
within digital binaries, analogue flux, and all forms of degradation in
between, a creature is kickstarted to life, as if awoken with locomotion's
full might. Helena Hauff delivers a mix for Tresor's Kern series, lashing
together a sound world with a potent barrage of industrial dance music.
Scorched-earth missives attract metals and mining chemicals, leaving little
in its wake but aggravated and chaotic experiments of lateral hypotheses in
acid brine. Like a hyperloop through this labyrinth, this high-velocity
future is both beautiful and evil, glinting embers through low-bit fogged-out
clusters. 100 metre-high aluminium pylons vibrate, each captivated by their
electrified foundations. There is no place for dust to settle on the floor.
Where a loose TB-tribalism knocks switches and pounds upward synaptic shocks,
life down there is too rapid. Not to be taken lying down, this is the viable
path forward without the shackles of turgid passivity. The eect is no less
thrilling than crucial, as it presents an essential DJ of our times. Settling
into swift 150bpm groove, Hauff ploughs through shepherd-tone electro, ghetto
bumps, and grizzled techno. A new collaborative track with Morah plays a
rough game of meter, with Hauff's signature sound clear as ever ripping apart
new dimensions with a brutal disorder over deceptive bass synths. The
visceral crunch of the present is no more clear than at the halfway point, a
threshold in which the breakneck electro falls apart, with the rabid foam of
Nasenbluten's ballsy gabber anthem "Intellectual Killer" |

penned for KMS offshoot Pheerce Citi. Both these sides were later released -
'The Darkside' = as 'A Relic' (by Longer Than Long ago) and 'Tic Tic Tic' was
later released on the limited edition compilation as Music Institute 20th
Anniversary as 'Untitled'. Both tracks are however, very hard to get on vinyl
and have now been re issued as loud 45rpm pressings in Pheerce Citi artwork
and remastered for 2014. 300 copies of this release were released in
different artwork at Phonica Records as part of RSD 2014 which sold out in a

Telescope Series Vol.3)", Solar One Music's cofounder Robert
Witschakowski and half of Dopplereffekt duo Gerald Donald return with another
cosmic album of their instantly recognizable trademark. Featuring ten
detailed and luminous cuts of beautifully crafted emotional music, with deep
narrative over tough machine groove, the opus takes you on a moody trip
across craggy soundscapes made of abrasive tones, crossing the red line

Our
next Bonzai Classics adventures in 12inch vinyl features the mighty Junk
Project aka Aquaplex and two of their most famous cuts, Control ’99 and
Brightness. Andreas Kraemer, Markus Schneider and Faris AL-Hassoni are the
brains behind both projects and they produced some of the finest Trance of
the 90’s and beyond, as well as indulging in several other projects. A wealth
of experience, nurtured with over 25 years in music, we’re delighted to be
able to bring their timeless sound back on wax for your listening pleasure.
On the A-side we have the huge Control 99’ which first appeared on the 1999
release Beats Bring’s Silence, and since then it has attracted a great deal
of support with a multitude of remixes from top artists of the day following.
A driving Trance groove filled with chunky beats’ off-beat basses and synth
plucks that contain pure joy and euphoria. Whispered vocals add character to
the track, joining the sublime ahh vox on the break which tugs on the
emotions. The climax comes as scathing synths and rolling snares build us up
to the main groove with hands in the air, wishing it would never end |

More
than 20 years after it was first launched, Gaetano Parisio has revived his
well regarded techno label Conform Records. The new era starts with a new
CONFORM RE-TOUCHED SERIES which will be released in four volumes over the
coming months and contain classic Conform tracks that have been reedited by
some of techno's most influential artists. Volume II arrives in June (26th)
with the likes of Deetron, Matrixmann , Shlomi Aber, Sterac, and The Advent,
all featuring. First up is Swiss maestro Deetron, who has been laying down
his sleek grooves for many years. His take on Outset is a quick techno roller
with hypnotic drums and icy pads. Next is the Be As One label boss Shlomi
Aber, a long time titan of the scene who hails from Israel. His urgent remix
of Watch Out is layered up with rubbery drums and mind melting synths to make
for a real cosmic trip.
The Advent has long been synonymous with hard hitting techno as a live act
and studio wizard. His most recent album was an excellent electro exploration.

The gang of four
have a new waxed weapon in their arsenal and as expected, it bites. Three
slices of complex futuristic beats with no mercy. As in previous sound
exercises, they have collided in the studio, each one with his preferred
tools, recording bites, mutating audios, twisting frequencies, and this is
the result: "MG009" is a mechanical tool constructed over a
concrete drum architecture, surrounded with bleeps, distorted drones and
cutting hi hats. All the elements come and go wisely creating an obsessive
atmosphere. "SQMD3" follows on similar parameters, fast, distorted,
enforced with the essential layers of sound required to make massive damage
on a proper sound system. "SNT0073" closes B side as an extension
of the message proposed on the previous cuts: a few elements fighting in a
frequency range quest in order to destroy any sign of easyness and vulgarity.
