Multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer with a discography of vast proportions and spanning three decades, Mr. Pete Warner has contributed to the works of and collaborated with the likes of Patrick Adams, Herbie Mann, Wah Wah Watson, Tramaine Hawkins, The Temptations lead singer David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, to name just a few, with a total of over 22 million records sold to date. With Thunderbolt, one of his own secret projects, he apparently signed only this single, which today is one of the rarest and most requested boogie-funk classics of the early 80s, played by some of the best DJs in the world, including Red Greg who selected it in the 2011 Z Records compilation "Under The Influence". According to Mr. Pete Warner the drums and percussion, bass and guitars, horn section, and vocals were recorded live in the studio and were actual musicians. Musique Pour La Danse presents Roomservice, Dutchman Orlando Voorn's forgotten yet unforgettable IDM-leaning, home-listening electronica / techno album from 1994 under his Living Room alias, originally released on the producer's cult Night Vision label. Praised unequivocally by those lucky enough to have heard it, this criminally underrated record nonetheless deserves pride of place when talking about forward-thinking electronic music from the early 90s. While it is widely acknowledged that Orlando Voorn's productions are one of the most fascinating prisms through which to experience a European take on the Detroit sound, Roomservice is also a strong reminder that the paradigm shift from sweaty raves to enhanced home listening, championed by Warp's Artificial Intelligence series, early Rephlex releases, along with projects such as The Black Dog, Plaid or Autechre was in fact not only limited to British artists. As its name indicates, The Living Room is not geared for warehouses but instead interested in a more intimate and domestic setting. As such, it does not contain over the top bangers, but it's hard to find any filler in this album where all the tracks are killer, catchy and memorable. All displaying a sophisticated yet immediate focus on warm melodies and grooves no heavier than a feather, these emotional cuts provide a wonderful and intricate soundscape for introspective listeners to explore, and they will surely find echoes of ideas developped by Manuel Gottsching, Steve Reich and Pat Metheny scattered accross the album. While some tracks are rhythmic and would fill a dancefloor in a second with their four to the floor or broken beats, the album also gives room for more ambient excursions to occur and develop brilliantly. But once again, it's more likely you'll end up dancing on your couch rather than dozing off

Rising talent Yant delivers a quadruplet of aces for his second outing on Jay Clarke's BLACKAXON imprint. We got the first taste of Yant aka Andrew Tomlinson's production prowess with the transcendent "Cosmic Borders" EP in late 2018. Clarke had originally planned to keep Blackaxon purely as an outlet for his studio creations, but the quality of Yant's work convinced him otherwise. The Hydro EP is an iridescent expression of Yant's musical sensibilities. "Hydro 1" provides driving rhythms from the off, before a heady concoction of synths and a lead siren drive the production home. "Hydro 2" is a dark pumper, reminiscent of earlier Blackaxon releases. It builds gradually, heavy on mood, before a propulsion of drums raises the energy to another level. A highlight of Clarke's set going back months, "Hydro 3" is a delicious synapse-searer, marked by swirling synths and Yant's trademark groove. "Hydro 4" is a textured, low-slung chugger, imbued with thrashing dancefloor attitude and a glint of euphoria. "I'm really happy to have Yant back on the label for his second release. Martin Eyerer’s brought Disfunction in a more technoid context, but his version never loses sight of the groovyness as well. The second original of the EP, Travelling Without Moving, is carried by a deep pad, which is constantly wafting in the background, giving the track a cozy warm mood. Serial Error was founded as a New Beat project when Jacob Korn was asked for a submission to the 'Our Beat Is Still New' compilation series on the Belgian We Play House label in late 2014. Knowing the retro-experienced skills of his label mates from Uncanny Valley, he teamed up with Credit 00 & Sneaker and they produced Drum Abuse, a track that finally became the cue for their first full 12'' maxi single in 2018 on Rat Life Records; a label curated by Credit 00. Now they keep on malfunctioning with a 4-tracker featuring the bizarre title Afro Gothic. The eponymous track was the first shot when they got together for a second EP in Jacob's studio in now demolished premises (the typical daily Rat Life). The slow, steamy roller captures the amateurish live percussion skills of Credit 00, while - on the other hand - he played one of the manuals of Jacob's 'Son of GX' organ along with Sneaker playing the other manual of the leading voice synth. On top, they added a classic acapella - a sudden strike of genius - 'perfectly matching the solemn vibe' (in their opinion; artist quote). Musique Pour La Danse is proud to present Coil's unreleased soundtrack for the VHS only, pre-internet, sexual education documentary entitled "The Gay Man's Guide To Safer Sex" released in 1992. Members for this project are John Balance, Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson and Danny Hyde. The OST, to quote John Balance's interview for Compulsion Online, "is [a] slightly new agey, progressive house type thing". Another way to approach it is as a delightful collection of balearic beats, smoking jazz not far removed from Badalamenti's work with David Lynch, somewhat of an ambient house album for your home listening and early morning sunrise dances, Coil style. Stanislav Tolkachev, oft lauded as one of the shining lights of the genre, debuts on Token with his unique take on contemporary Techno. The five track EP, titled There Is No Cure, highlights the producer's infamously idiosyncratic style, showcasing his ability as an artist to draw in disparate moods to his work whilst maintaining a powerful sense of cohesion. Deconstructed opener Two Treats Right Now, instantly recognisable as Tolkachev's music, sets the tone for the record. A single, curiously disharmonious patch waxes & bends for just under three and a half minutes while off kilter rides and hat patterns are introduced (and occasionally removed) to add to the delicious cacophony, the result being a kind of sonic palette cleanser.
