the fourteenth album by American jazz organist Jimmy Smith featuring
performances recorded in 1957 and 1958 and released on the Blue Note label.
Rudy Van Gelder used the Manhattan Towers Hotel Ballroom in New York City for
recording sessions in 1957-1958, while he was still using his parents-
Hackensack, N.J. home studio to record artists for Blue Note. House Party was
the first of two Smith albums recorded on two dates, the second was Smith's
next album The Sermon!, released in 1959. Van Gelder mainly used the ballroom
for larger groups of musicians that would not fit in his parent's living
room, or when New York was a more convenient location to record the artists
involved |

During
the early 1970s, Detroit rock band Howl The Good signed to Motown's prog-rock
offshoot, Rare Earth. Travelling to London to record their self-titled debut
album at Olympic Studios, they were fortunate to work with engineer Chris
Kimsey (best known for his later work with Peter Frampton and The Rolling
Stones), with ex-Spooky Tooth keyboardist Gary Wright in the producer's
chair< Wright was a highly-rated session player that worked with George
Harrison, Elton John, Joe Cocker and Steve Winwood, and he also enjoyed a
successful solo career. The resultant album is a competent slice of
semi-commercial prog rock with an undercurrent of blues and the odd pastoral
number< despite the obviously American feel of the material, Billboard
assumed the group was British, due to the location of the album's recording.
Despite the strength of "Just Pretend It's Another Day" and
"Long Way From Home," both co/written by Wright, and a one/off
rendition of Cat Stevens' "The Joke," the album flopped on release
on both sides of the Atlantic, leading the band to remain in obscurity and
ultimately break up |

Some
say that 13 is an unlucky number, but the 13th dnb vinyl release in our
catalogue is here to prove the theory completely false. After all, how can
you go wrong with Harland, who has shown to be not only a seasoned DJ but
also a talented producer, and Mark System, who has been around for long
enough to leave you absolutely certain that he's able to always deliver the
goods. The release is actually a kind of extended single because the vinyl
comes with three tracks, and the digital bonus includes two additional
tracks. But first things first. Side A opens with "Leo" - named
after Harland's recently born son (whose sampled voice you can hear right at
the beginning of the track - followed by some sampled toys later on as well);
a pleasantly progressing, summer-vibed roller with an emphasis on the low
end. A2 is "Simon Lake" - another deep, warmly "purring"
roller, but offering a more late-afternoon mood, perfect for a twilight
cruise through the city. Side B is all about Mark System's remix of
"Moon", which is a balladic, slightly nostalgic quicker-paced
liquid tune, rich with melody, vocal bits, piano samples, and feel-good vibes |

4Plae kick off
the first instalment of their Noir series with “Delta Insignia”, a nod to the
final frontier and beyond. With two tracks from label founder ADMNTi
accompanied by sublime remixes from Bushwacka! and Sam Bangura, this initial
release sets the tone for what is to come for 4Plae Noir. The title track
opens the release with luscious pads accompanied with breaky drum patterns.
The mood is continued with ‘Vry1’, with and added tinge of electro, which the
illustrious Bushwacka! takes to the next level with his remix of the track on
the flip side. Close friend of the label and Northsouth co-founder Sam
Bangura makes his debut remix appearance to close the EP with an ethereal and

Lenny - Rec My Dream (A1): Legendary Italian DJ/producer Dino managed to
create a track that pleases and suits you, but is kind of scary and
threatening as well. The dark-jazzy pianos provide a very smooth and housy
character, but the crescendo-like vibe leads to a darker place where more
industrial and underground soundscapes take over. This title track is a
hypnotical journey to different eras of electronic music with eighties-style
German underground club sounds and a mesmerizing vocal atmosphere. At the A2
spot you can find the vocal acapella to let yourself go. Capoon remix (B1):
Capoon is known for its darker approach with a hot pepper between the
butt-cheeks. So it isn't very much of a surprise that Capoon focused on the
darker side of the original track. Thriving on the success of their first
release 'I Got Soul', they make sure to keep their fans satisfied with yet
another club banger in this remix. Capoon jacked up the kicks and made sure
bass and synths played a main role. Rob Hes remix: Dutch DJ/producer Rob Hes

Insert! Southern Los Angeles experimental punk band Mood of Defiance was
formed in Hermosa Beach in 1981, spinning off from a short-lived synthesizer
project called Kindled Imagination, formed in nearby San Pedro (home to The
Minutemen) with drummer Richie Wilder of Saccharine Trust. Teenaged lead
singer and band originator Rachel Morgan, who was known as "Screaming
Bitch Rachel" and later, Hatha Watha, formed MOD with Wilder, recruiting
initial guitarist TA Black and bassist Kevin Ball from a music press
advertisement. Debut demo recordings (eventually issued as In A Box) featured
this line-up but after Black and Ball quit the band, they were replaced by
Danny Dean Philips and Gary Kail from the band Anti, moonlighting in this
side project for debut album Now, released on Philips' and Kail's
aptly-titled New Underground label in 1982, other band members featured on
the disc include drummer Thaddeus. Opener "Divided States Of
America" set the disc's defiant punk tone, though "Sticky
Lips" and "Girl In A Painting" are less caustic, with broader
musical dexterity and post-punk rhythmic references. An important piece of
southern Calfornia punk history back on vinyl after 38 years |

As
a founding member of innovative Brazilian psychedelic group Os Mutantes, Rita
Lee's reputation is assured as a ground-breaking pioneer. Born Rita Lee Jones
in 1947 in the upscale Vila Mariana district of Sao Paulo, Rita's father was
an American descended from a Confederate soldier who moved to Brazil at the
end of the US Civil War, her mother a Brazilian of Italian origin. After
studying piano with renowned musician Magdalena Tagliaferro, Lee switched to
the drums. In 1966, she formed Os Mutantes with Sergio Dias and Arnaldo
Baptista, introducing psychedelia to Brazil with their debut album. On the
edge of the Tropicalia movement, Os Mutantes collaborated with Caetano Veloso
and Gilberto Gil, prior to their London exile and released five albums before
disbanding in 1972, with Lee also issued two solo albums, produced with
Mutantes collaborators. She then formed the short-lived psychedelic folk duo
Cilibrinas Do Eden with Lucia Turnbull (the daughter of a Scottish father and
Brazilian mother who had played in London with The Solid British Hat Band
before returning to Brazil in 1972) |

Ark In Dub" is another piece of Lee "Scratch" Perry's
limitless musical puzzle. Originally released in 1980 the hard to find
"Black Ark In Dub" remains a frozen sonic timepiece, captured at
the beginning of the end of one era and poised at the start of another. This
re-mastered LP release has a bedrock of deep rhythms recorded at the Black
Ark studio just before its demise, including bass heavy and spooky dub
deconstructions of "Ethiopia", "Lion A De Winner",
"Open The Gate", "Guideline" and "Mr Money
Man", along with an embellished dub version of Ras Keatus "I
Dreadlocks I", the much sought after "Guidance", a longime Jah
Shaka killer exclusive to this set and the opening track "Jah" (the
dub version to Lackley Castell's "Jah Love Is Sweeter"). The music
by the Black Ark Players (aka The Upsetters) was mixed by Lee Perry and
co-produced by Pauline Morrison & Lee Perry. The album comes in a great

Two
years after debuting on Central Processing Unit with the acclaimed Aftrmth
EP, Nullptr returns to the Sheffield label for the release of new full-length
album Future World. Nullptr has created a set of perpetual-motion marvels
here, wind-'em-up-and-watch-'em-go electro tunes in which synth lines and
808s weave dexterously in and out of one another to form these lovely
interlocking patterns. Many of the tracks on Future World are anchored by
needlegun grooves in the Drexciyan mode. The album's opening number
'Arrowhead', an eerie dystopian-electro take, sets the scene in this regard,
and cuts like 'Cytron' and 'Phantom Cell' also have a rugged bump to their
low-end - particularly the latter, which features a deliciously nasty
bassline drop about halfway in. While busybody drum programming persists
throughout the album, Nullptr's fondness for washed-out pads means that
Future World also provides the listener with space for contemplation. Third
track 'Sweet Luna' may be robust enough to do damage on the dancefloor, but
its deep chords and relatively muted bassline also push it in the direction
of 90s electronica and IDM-techno |

One
of Drumcode’s finest, Bart Skils returns for his first solo EP since 2018.
Bart Skils remains one of the label’s most consistent achievers going back to
his debut in 2012. Eight original EPs, a stellar remix of Moby ‘Go’ and his
now-classic collaboration with Adam Beyer ‘Your Mind’ have entrenched him as
a DC treasure. All the while the Dutchman plays a nurturing role with the
label’s nu-skool brigade, regularly playing B2B with Layton Giordani and
teaming up with Weska for last summer’s ‘Polarize’ two-tracker. His ninth
Drumcode EP ‘Settle In The Sun’ delivers the first productions from his new
studio after six months of preparation. The title track was inspired by an
extended stay in LA over New Years, channelling the energy of Venice Beach’s
vibrant skate culture to create an uplifting, big riff weapon. ‘Tropical
Heat’ took influence from Bart’s experiences touring South America, as an
evocative vocal sample and rave-kissed melody line run alongside a wicked
rolling groove. ‘Shiva Says’ is a peak-time, brain-mangler in the best of
ways, driven by a monster synth line that grows and contorts as the track
progresses |

First
up is Nehuen, an Argentinian born but Barcelona based artist who is notorious
for his abrasive dance floor workouts on I Love Acid, BNR Trax and the
Classicworks label he co-owns with Cardopusher. Cardopusher is, of course, a
true electronic legend from Venezuela. His dizzyingly diverse sound takes in
rave, acid, electro, techno and house influences and distills them into
hugely Raw and energetic new forms. Nehuen's Psyops Part One kicks off with
the excellent title track, which contorts acid and electro into a writhing
monster filled with dark energy. The visceral 'Toxic' is built on slapping
hits and spangled basslines that will tie you in knots as the bumping drums
drive things forward. The late-night menace continues on 'Bailar', with tight
synth arps layered up in robotic forms over clunky drums that are industrial
and futuristic in equal measure. Last but not least, the eerie 'Desire'
strikes a more twisted note with double kicks juddering beneath echoing hits.
It's pure, filthy, brilliant body music. Cardopusher kicks off Part Two with
the fantastic 'Disobedience' (feat. Lbeeze) |

Petter Eldh's celebrated Koma Saxo returns with a fresh single release on We
Jazz Records, June 12. "Koma Mate" is a new look on "Koma
Tema" from Koma Saxo's 2019 debut album. The track's anthemic quality
remains, but with an extra 10% bangerism added for good measure. On the flip,
Eldh invites Jameszoo to tear apart and reassemble Koma Saxo's elements,
making for an extra tasty serving of spicy Koma Soup, filled with
criss-crossing saxes and odd grooves. Lightning in a bottle, times two.
"Koma Mate / Jagd (Feat. Jameszoo)" will be released by We Jazz
Records on June 12 as a 7" single and digitally. True to We Jazz style,
the 7" comes with an old school heat-pressed labels and a generic brown

curious souls. This is our very first record. Alfredo92 and Kasper Marrot run
the label, and they've produced two tracks with help from our good friends
Carl Emil and Lauge. The record was created in 2017 at the professional
facilities we've come to know as Nordvest Auto. On both tracks, you'll hear a
lot of drums, some bass, effects, samples, vocals and sounds from beyond, we
don't know how to describe. They've been tested on various sound systems
during the past year, and we can ensure you that a flat EQ and max volume
will suit the tracks almost anywhere. We really hope you enjoy our effort. If

first vinyl release of the record label was born from the mind and the taste
of Freddy K. A person with many years of experience, which is currently
behind K1971 etc.. In the past, one of the minds of Elettronica Romana,
Virus, Remix Shop .. and one of the producers of the old Roman techno scene
(see ACV Records etc. ..). The choice of artists is very precise: new artists
who have something to say in the future of the techno scene. The first vinyl
release is signed Conrad Van Orton. Already known by many producers, DJs,
radio and magazines that specialize in techno. He has many releases already
out with its C.R.S. Recordings (along with VSK) and beyond. His style is very
modern and innovative. Here shows two tracks. Love Story is one modern techno
track, a rhythm straight without ever becoming heavy, but the impact is very
heavy. A sound characteristic of the entire length of the track, a wave that
rises and falls .. obsession, original and devastating to your ears. A
journey that hypnotizes you until you come to dominate every rhythmic sounds.

(clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats) is a family of
DNA sequences found in the genomes organisms such as bacteria and archaea.
The discovery of clustered DNA repeats occurred independently in three parts
of the world. The first description of what would later be called CRISPR is
from Osaka University in 1987. They accidentally cloned part of a CRISPR
sequence together with a gene that was their target. The organization of the
repeats was unusual. Repeated sequences are typically arranged consecutively,
without interspersed different sequences. They did not know the function of
the interrupted clustered repeats |

Transcendental
Movements Vol. 1 marks the beginning of a new full-length ambient series,
curated by IDO founder Valentino Mora. Since the age of 14, Mora has been
searching for alternative tools to relieve anxiety. In 2016, he discovered
the music of Marow and Olaf Tonstein and found that through listening to this
particular music he was able to access a new state of meditation. This began
the journey of researching the technique he calls 'active mediation'. When he
discovered that a lot of Marow and Olaf Tonstein's music from 2009 had never
been released on vinyl, he knew he needed to release it one day. In their
work, Mora identified a feeling pertinent to the concept of the label, one
that exemplified the connection between minimal/ambient/glitch and IDO's
ambient house sound. From there he reached out to other artists that he felt
could relate to this idea, and asked them to contribute a track in response
to the concept. The resulting compilation varies in tempo and technique,
illustrating each artist's idiosyncrasies, yet as a whole it forms a cohesive
and potent statement. Active meditation differs from regular stationary
meditation through the focusing of one's attention on sound whilst in motion
-- the form this motion takes is personal |

been a while since we decided to open and launch this new project, we were
just waiting for the right moment, and maybe we waited too long. or maybe
not. we were a little stucked by the indecision of when to put it out, how to
contextualize, and all the usual "psychological" practices that one
faces before starting a new journey. but ever since we received the masters
of this wonderful concentrate of different minds, we have been looking
forward to smashing it out. and whether it's the real right time or not, it's
now finally here! the true meaning behind this capsule is not so definable in
words, perhaps because it is an attempt to look back and forth at the same
time, without getting lost in a one concrete definition. but when we got to
the tracks, first individually, and then together, it came spontaneous to

To
celebrate 100 years of the Theremin, super producer Gaudi and friends have
created an album of Theremin infused dub. Developed in 1920 by Russian
physicist Leon Theremin, the Theremin is an electronic device which works
with magnetic fields and consists of one metal antenna controlled without
physical contact. Predominantly a fairly niche instrument, it has featured in
several styles of music since its creation, from classical works to sci-fi
movie soundtracks, pop and rock. Gaudi was supported in this tribute by five
of the world's top dub producers - Mad Professor, Adrian Sherwood, The
Scientist, Dennis Bovell and Prince Fatty. All hugely respected individuals
who have been representing the best of international dub production for the
last 50 years, they have provided the riddims that underpin Gaudi's Theremin
playing on this astonishing project. As a solo artist, Gaudi has recorded
over 20 albums, while as a producer he has hundreds of productions under his
belt. In his 30 year career he has worked with legends of the reggae and
electronic music worlds including Steel Pulse, Lee "Scratch" Perry,
Horace Andy, Michael Franti, Deep Forest, Zion Train, Dub FX, Youth, The Orb,
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan & Trentemoller. As a Theremin player for over 25
years, Gaudi has often combined his passion for the instrument and for reggae
music, playing it on several of his albums, but until now he has never
dedicated an entire release to it. Known and lauded for putting his
"dub-take" on many musical genres, '100 Years of Theremin (The Dub
Chapter)' is Gaudi's brainchild. Listening to this blissful
out-of-body-experience of an album, where roots reggae meets the enigmatic
and ethereal sounds of sci-fi, is a deep and pensive experience. Haunting and
mellifluous melodies meet earthy, bassy grooves in an unlikely yet undeniably
successful union. Despite the individual styles of the producers involved,
the album has a unified quality, the cinematic feel of a soundtrack with the
narrative being the distinctive voice of the Theremin |
