1974
marked the release of Neil Young's 6th solo album, On The Beach, and though
the record sold poorly it has come to be regarded as one of his finest
collections of songs, ever. Just a month after the recordings for that record
wrapped up, and 2 months before its release in July of 1974, Neil played a
solo set at the legendary New York City club, The Bottom Line. Featuring
mostly cuts from that album, including an absolutely stunning take of
"Ambulance Blues", this set is one of the finest live acoustic
performances of Neil's career. Along with those great cuts from On The Beach
there's also wonderful takes on the traditional "Greensleeves", his
amazing CSNY track "Helpless", "Roll Another Number (For The
Road)", and Zuma's beautiful "Pardon My Heart". Classic live
Neil from one of the most productive, brilliant, and tumultuous eras of his

For their second release, Mantra
Collective take this opportunity to showcase two rising Australian based
artists, Venda and Mike Watts who combine their sound for Agave, an
introspective cut with an undeniable groove. Metallic resonances swirl
throughout the spectrum, purposefully fused with distant spatial intricacies.
Energy shifts and flows throughout the track providing heightened moments of
tension and release. Mike Watts brings a complimentary approach with his

Los
Angeles/based child prodigy Harold Johnson began playing piano in church when
he was five years old. He began receiving private piano lessons that same
year and went on to study string instruments at elementary school and guitar
and double bass while in middle school, so by the time he began attending
high school, he had the musical skill of a far older professional. Forming a
group with other likeminded student peers, The Harold Johnson Sextet signed
to Harry Mitchell's HME label to release a debut album, House On Elm Street,
which would later be reissued by MCA subsidiary, Revue. Featuring future
Gladys Knight drummer Ronald Rutledge, percussionist Billy Jackson and
flutist David Crawford, who would later be musical arranger for Patti
Labelle, the album mixed Johnson's intense originals with a rousing piano
take of Bobby Hebb's "Sunny" and an instrumental rendition of the
theme song from Alfie. Johnson later drafted Ndugu Chancler into the group
and after signing with Motown in 1970, he worked with Diana Ross, The
Temptations and countless others< in 2016, he reformed the Sextet to visit
House On Elm Street for its 40 th anniversary |

"Black Ark Vol.2" was
the follow up album to the acclaimed "Black Ark In Dub" that
unsurprisingly for an Upsetter release took a different path. More vocal
oriented the album features extended dubwise cuts of "Ethiopia" by
Carol Cole (aka Aisha Morrision), Junior Byles, "Mumbling &
Grumbling" and The Inamans "How Deep Is Your Love", along with
The Originals "Got To Be Irie", Lacksley Castell's "Jah Love
Is Sweeter" and an alternate take of the Silvertones roots classic
"Give Thanks" with flute overdub and a couple of solid covers from
Third World lead vocalist Bunny Rugs. This set is a crucial release for the
fans of Lee Perry's Black Ark universe, originally released in 1981, here are
all re-mastered tracks recorded with the musicians of the Black Ark Players
(aka The Upsetters) and mixed by Lee "Scratch" Perry, in a
co-production by Pauline Morrison & Lee Perry. The album comes in a great

This Italian -70s act featured
a.o. Giacomo 'Mino' di Martino (known from a.o. I Giganti) and his wife,
actress and singer Edda 'Terra' di Benedetto. The music on their
Kraut-influenced self-titled album, first released in 1978, is dominated by
Terra's fascinating, improvised vocals and Mino's keyboards, creating amazing
space sounds reminiscent of those from 1950s and 1960s science fiction
B-movies. This reissue (500 copies) comes with reproduced original artwork, a
poster, three inserts and a bonus 7-inch record! Very, very nice! |

Rick Lenoir (with a helpful production assist from the mighty Adonis and a

stripped back club track, no special FX - just straight up party music for
sweaty dancefloors. This official 2016 reissue contains 4 mixes of this stone
cold classic - The vocal mix, basement mix, house of trix mix and the rapid
edit, all culled from the numerous pressings that came out in 1987 - 1989. In
a sense, this is ''the complete'' collection of this cornerstone of Chicago
House. The full set. All audio has been lifted from Rick Lenoir's private
collection of reel to reel tapes from his basement and remastered

and this time it is the second Ten Walls album called “Lights For The
Dreams”. Album contains nine original compositions, each of them has its own
character and a story to tell. And they are mixed into one evolving journey.
A lithuanian electronic music composer and live performer Marijus Adomaitis
world-wide known as Ten Walls has always been delivering a highly
sophisticated sound and this time is none other. Even better - the variety of
soundscapes throughout the album brings emotions of fulfillment and leaves
one somewhere out of this reality. It is definitely the highest point of
creativity where every single detail matters as well as the whole picture,
from outmastered usage of today's technologies to the artful and conceptual

Anniversary returns to MUSAR Recordings under a new cloak, Shifting Gears.
Toyko's Hoshina Anniversary has risen to particular prominence in recent
years with his self-titled brand of 'Watechno'. Stylistically fusing
traditional Japanese instrumentation with Chicago and Detroit sensibilities,
his works have found homes on ESP Institute, Young Marco's Safe Trip and
Amsterdam-based MUSAR Recordings. Landing on the latter, MUSAR, little over a
year ago with 'Zangai' EP, Hoshina returns under a new cloak, Shifting Gears,
to present 'Evil' EP. Named after the 1975 'Gears' LP of jazz and hard bop
organist, Johnny Hammond, the Shifting Gears moniker focuses heavily on
principles of Jazz and raw musicianship, with a continued exploration of
machine-reared club sounds. How the two can take shape as one. Across 'Evil'
EP, Hoshina's native culture remains, as heard on 'Miyatsukomaro', where
traditional Japanese strings harmonise with crisp hats and jazz keys.

We're
accustomed to hearing releases from Central Processing Unit which veritably
fly out the traps. Indeed, you could spend hours listing all the great
uptempo club tracks that have dropped via the Sheffield label down the years,
rambunctious rollers from artists like DMX Krew and 96 Back. However, there
is another side to the CPU sound, one that is slower, more considered and
owes plenty to downtempo and 90s electronica. Paul Blackford is a producer
who has long embodied these two facets of CPU's output. On one hand you have
his 2014 label debut The League Of Shadows, a set of fizzing IDM-techno
innovations which remains highly sought-after to this day; on the other there
is Light Years, the cool and collected return to CPU that Blackford made
three years later. The latter record, with its painterly synth work and
neck-snapping drums, remains a touchstone for Blackford's latest CPU release,
a new twelve-track LP entitled Betamax. While the tempos of Betamax may be
rather relaxed, the sonic palette used here very much links up with CPU's
other drops. It is one forged in the forward-thinking electronic styles of
the 1990s - Drexciyan electro, Boards Of Canada's wistful electronica and the
boundary-pushing IDM of Rephlex Records |

returns to Black Acre with the 'Vital' EP, a heavy four tracker which blurs

Resident Advisor PRAYER blurs the lines between sorrowful sounds and
high-voltage club energy in VITAL; a piece of art that refuses to be boxed
off by genre or stereotype. Opener FEAR explores the producers love of film
music; a dark sci-fi landscape punctuated with drums and melodic synths, a
Bladerunner-esque track. Moving on, A2 'I'M STILL HERE' is an anthem, a
nostalgic mix of hardcore, jungle and classical influences with a DIY, rough
and ready feel. On the other side, PRAYER shows his talent for the piano with
B1 - KIND, finessing the skills that reflect his first adventures in sound.
It's an emotive, stripped back number. The final track is B2 - VITAL, another
drum-heavy, weighty track that sounds only like PRAYER |

The
countdown has begun! Polish mastermind Kuba Sojka digs into his wide
repertoire of influences to bring us this latest release on Cosmic Club. Each
of the 4 tracks is distinctly unique, standing out from one another through
Kuba's varied uses of synths and percussion. 'Countdown' is reminiscent of
those early Detroit movements in techno and electronica, instantly reminding
me of the likes of Dopplereffekt, which is certainly no bad thing. The vibe
of 'Getaway' is exactly as the name would suggest; pumping arpeggiated synths
accompanied by piercing snares that evoke images of a neon-drenched,
italo-fueled 80's action film. Try and not feel energised to this, we dare
you. On the flip, 'Ego' scratches the itch for something deep; filtered
sounds galore with a bit of that garagey swing. Rounding off, 'Everything
Will Be Ok' drops the tempo and commences the much-needed cleansing after the
pure energy that has come on the track before; this is my new 5am
watch-the-sun-rise tune. Kuba knows and delivers with this essential record!

For
their 12th release, Fasaan Recordings has dug deep into the techno
underground of Malmö and found the drum machine anthems of Frankie Twilight.
Not your usual techno producer, the woman behind this Alan Vega-esque alias
does not subscribe to any genre definitions. Having played in a Berlin-based
punk band as well as acting as resident DJ at a members only 78 rpm jazz
club, to say her tastes are diverse is quite an understatement. The DIY
spirit is however a red thread throughout the 4 tracks of her Synergy EP for
Fasaan. As her technical set-up is plain to see on the sleeve itself, the
feverish live jams that form the base of these tracks comes off as raw and
undiluted. Sometimes they are weighted down with the moody blues of numbing
synth chords, like on "My Opal Gems" and "Coral Desires".
Sometimes they're frying in the squelch of a classi c acid bath, like on
"Dizzmol". All the while, the deranged funk of her playful rhythm
patterns will surely see you crawling towards a concrete basement after
sunset, contorting your body to fit your limbs into the grooves or sulking in
a corner breathing in all of its gothic glory |

Consoles is 21-year old IDM-smith Ryan Lee West from Leicester in the
Midlands of England. After having supported his city neighbours and label
comrades Kyte on an extensive European tour in November 2008, West locked
himself away all winter to finish his first full-length album, set to see the
light of day in mid 2009. In the meantime fans of his debut 'The Decadent EP'
will be pleased to hear that on February 23, 2009 Erased Tapes Records will
release an exclusive 4-track 7" single / download bundle ? Rival
Consoles' take on classical music entitled 'Helvetica'. Instead of X-Box
versus Playstation, here West plays classical against dance music! Influenced
by impressionists like Claude Debussy and modern electronic artists such as
Autechre and Daft Punk, Ryan Lee West created a unique signature sound for
Rival Consoles. A playful and brutal mix of electronic beats, emotive piano
melodies and warm synth string arrangements. Ryan repeatedly performed at the
Tate Britain Museum in London where he drew over 2000 visitors into his
unpredictable, yet detailed sound drawings. He was the first to represent
Erased Tapes Records at the British Music Week 2007 in Cologne |

Raxon
lands his first richly-deserved Drumcode EP. There’s something distinctive
about the Egyptian-born artist’s productions that provoke a special response.
His debut outing on Drumcode, ‘Dream Space’ soundtracked our favourite
takeaway moment from Awakenings Festival in 2019, as Adam Beyer and his three
daughters danced along to their mum Ida Engberg’s set, wearing smiles the
size of watermelons. More recently, when Beyer played ‘Connection’ during the
‘Drumcode Indoors II’ stream from his Ibiza home, once more, his daughters
sprang into dance mode, their fists striking the sky. Raxon’s music just
touches you, it’s unavoidable. After a pair of contributions to Truesoul and
‘Dream Space’ appearing on A-Sides Vol.8 last year, his maiden Drumcode EP is
perfectly timed. ‘Connection’ is catchy intergalactic techno, driven by thick
