Dutch groove connaisseur Ivano
Tetelepta returns to his home base ESHU Records. Presenting four tripped out
originals accompanied by two excellent reworks by befriended artists Jasper
Wolff and Ion Ludwig. The pack perfectly captures the loosely and laid back
attitude of the label and Ivano himself, doing their own thing as always. The
a-side is all about the groove, a stripped down and playful rhythmic jam
built for a hazy late night session with Ion Ludwig turning this inside-out,
transforming the original into a lengthy minimal dub version. The early
morning sun rays bring the vibes on the flipside where 'Loosen Up' is an
atmospheric 90s feeling techno floater where Indigo aera head honcho Jasper
Wolff shakes this up with a fierce techno twist. As special addition there's
a 7" where Tetelepta shows one of his enlightening dub meditations and a
rambling early Mills-esque tribal work-out. The whole bunch is mastered by
Marco Spaventi and will be released digitally and in special 12"+7"
pack. |

At
last! THE DRONES first album on vinyl available out of Australia! So here it
is! "Here Come The Lies" from The Drones. In order to exceed the
sound pollution of Melbourne's - the hometown of the band - big city noise
back in the day (2003), The Drones overdrive their amps to a brutal level,
strum their strings the hard way and beat the drums in a way unheard-of. This
is blues from the gutter. Big city blues, although some call it noise. Sure,
there's enough overdriven chords on this album to please any noise fan. But
there's more. The sound is swaying between a chorus of dissonance and
numerous tactical silences, only to emphasize the music even more. You can't
have noise if you don't have silence (makes sense doesn't it?). Also, the
band writes lyrics that fully correspond to the music, making the package
truly a whole. Helping the band doing this is the anti-production-a-go-go;

Berlin-based,
Dutch-born Steffi possesses near-boundless prowess. As a DJ, she’s proved her
effortless mastery of disco, house, electro, and techno; as helm of labels
Klakson and Dolly, she’s long maintained her status as tastemaker; as a
producer, she has graced us with three solo LPs and numerous 12”s. Dark
Entries is now honored to unveil the debut of her project Crushed Soul, a
moniker she had used only once in 2013 for an Ostgut Ton compilation track.
The mutual esteem of Steffi and DE has been previously fruitful, with Steffi
providing a remix for Cute Heels’ 2016 EP on DE, but this is their first
full-length collaboration. The Family of Waves EP represents both familiar
and novel pastures for Steffi. While her love of electro and classic Detroit
techno have been oft-evident, here we witness the darker shades of new wave
and industrial creep to the forefront. This turn for the twisted feels not
just natural, but predestined, an inevitable succumbing to morbid forces. But
Steffi also views Family as “a playful association...a mix of my past and new
modern waves". There is a kernel of whimsy, even joy, lurking within the
record’s temporal jumblings |

Communications 1997. Laurent Collat is not a newcomer to the French
electronic scene. It was in 1988, with the discovery of New Order, that the
desire to compose his own songs arose. His techno-pop compositions drift
gently towards a house and techno sound, with the arrival of the baggy
movement from Manchester and the acid-house wave. In 1992, a pivotal year if
ever there was one, pop had been ousted in favour of technology. Between ‘92
and ‘95, Laurent worked in various horizons, but always with one goal: to
make people dance and move. Laurent Collat joined F Communications in 1996.
On his first two EPs released in ‘96 and ‘97, "From Nowhere With
Love" and "Snapshots", Elegia developed a melodic and melancholic
house. A studio man, he seeks to find THE voice that would bring emotion and
warmth to the compositions of a future album |

Communications 1997. Behind this somewhat enigmatic name hides Jean-Philippe
Verdin from Brittany, France. After a happy childhood between a jazz fan
father and classical musician sisters and thanks to his influences, jazz,
mods, ska or pop, he evolved within several groups on keyboard and
composition. But during a rave in 1991, he discovered house music and became
convinced that "this is where it happens". His journey took him
from the baggy movement of Manchester, to the pioneers of Detroit and
Chicago, then on to drum 'n' bass. He then decided to leave his group to
compose on his own in his home studio. Opack premier Ep on F Communications
had already stood out for its unique programming and production. It had traced
a furrow for French electronica "and established Readymade as an

Communications 1997. Being in love with music since his adolescence, Frédéric
forged a culture, integrating song, Latin music, jazz, as much as Kraftwerk's
electronic preludes in the late 70’s. In addition to studying drums and piano,
his interests is also in African and oriental music. His curiosity is
limitless, and all musical cultures find an interest in his eyes, which makes
him a personality apart on the electronic scene. In 1997, his meeting with
F-communications was an important step since it gave him the opportunity to
release his first record. He combined electronic music and jazz in a new way.
So much so that the classification in one genre or the other is impossible.
The album, "Frédéric Galliano & the African Divas", recorded
especially in West Africa with African singers, is the perfect missing link
between traditional music and electro music |

Communications 1995. The group was founded in Dijon France in 1993 with three
members: Olivier Saint Denis, Olivier Kaiser and Olivier Regis. The name
"Square" comes from the initials of each surname. SKR was
passionate about "machine music" and more particularly for those
who came from Detroit. The trio composed and performed in several local
raves, as well as for the after party of the institutional evening "Wake
Up Dijon" in November 1993, where Laurent Garnier officiates and where
he immediately asked them for a demo. He called them up soon after, excited
by the tracks, and the project gave birth in April 1995 under the name of

The
year is 1989 and it's the peak of the New Beat craze that swept Europe and
the world with Belgium at its epicenter. Not limited to records and clubs,
the New Beat lifestyle was marketed to death with all sorts of fashion items,
a plethora of accessories and...erotic videos. Erotica, sensuality, and
sexuality have always been part of New Beat's DNA, but our jaws still dropped
to the floor when we first laid eyes upon an erotic New Beat VHS deadstock
gathering dust in a forgotten video store in the middle of nowhere in
Switzerland. So we did what every New Beat fan would have done, we watched
the video and cringed (at its low budget production values and tacky male
gaze) while we were transported to 1989 Belgium, with the bodies, poses,
styles and backdrops you'd expect from that bygone era. Our ears, however,
were in for a treat. The video's OST uses almost the very same tracklist as
one of the countless New Beat compilations marketed as LPs: King of the Beat,
instantly recognizable among many for its yellow front cover featuring a
stamp with King Baudoin's profile.That record was actually a fake compilation
seemingly gathering several artists but in fact entirely composed by the same
trio. It offers a lovely snapshot of various moods and styles found within
the New Beat genre: downright erotic tracks, proto-Goa numbers, Orientalist
takes on exotic sounds, tracks driven by iconic film samples, and tracks
built around silly samples, such as an elephant's trumpet. And then some |

Ianua'
is the stage name of Filippo Midali, a 360 degrees electronic musician that
sweeps primarily from techno, electro, breaks, jungle to Chicago footwork
with a stable contamination from HipHop culture and scratch, the art of vinyl
manipulation. The self-titled album, his debut album, fully represents this,
moving from track to track between various musical genres. The name 'Ianua',
'door' in Latin, comes from the idea of the multiverse and inter-dimensional
doors; this is depicted on the cover, on which the front represents the door
distorted by the journey through space and time and the back, together with
the titles, the sketches and formulas of the presumed door- building
scientist. Front and back of the cover are black and white film photos taken

It's a big pleasure for us to
welcome back Mario to the label after a long while. He delivers four raw cuts
of harsh techno, crude, direct to the bone but always with a wise use of the
elements to make things intelligent and intrincated. First cut "Pattern
execution" proves all this as a statement. Obsessive sequences,
distorted groove elements, tension all over an ever changing arrangement.
"Path of authority" reminds the early Birmingham days, again using
distortion as weapon. Bringing the heritage of the best records from the
nineties to this dystopian present we live in. "Balance of power"
runs over similar parameters than the previous two, increasing the BPM rate
and delivering more intricate sequence lines and paranoia.
"Frontline" closes this crude exercise, still fast, still hard but

One
of Drumcode’s most indispensable talents, Tiger Stripes blesses us with
another classy two-tracker. In the last 11 years Mikael Nordgren aka Tiger
Stripes has appeared on Adam Beyer’s Drumcode and Truesoul labels a total of
eight times. The Swede has a masterful command of his machines and is an
inspired sound designer, imbuing his productions with bags of creativity and
cross-genre futurism. His last outing on DC ‘Into Isolation’ was a colourful
five-piece of super-charged techno, reinforcing the breadth and strength of
his studio work. Nine months on, we have another offering to add to the
canon. ‘Jack The Garage’ is a fast and furious leader, mixing up jacking
dancefloor functionalism with raw and distorted sounds inspired by garage
rock bands such as The 13 Floor Elevators and The Stooges. ‘Back in Black’
draws influence from unlikely sources, Nordgren mining latent inspiration
from the smooth synthesized sounds of Travis Scott after his daughter
introduced him to the hip-hop maestro. The resulting cut is a slick slice of
electro-fuelled techno, with as many sides as a rubik cube, as bass stabs,

Mysterious
and masked techno talent Paul Villard unveils more of his musical weaponry on
the Lone Romantic label this August. Nothing is known about this artist but
from the fact that, “strange and unusual superhuman powers and abilities”
came to him after a “gamma accident.” He has released on Blind Allies and
Applied Research, remixed Carl Finlow and is a producer with a cinematic
electro sound. Futuristic opener 'Side Effects’ is a bumping electro cut with
a stuttering drum pattern and squelchy synth funk from another planet.
‘Submarine Limousine’ keeps up the cyborg styles with a crisp electro groove
that is run through by sci-fi vocals and effects, while ’Fluid Dynamics’ is
all watery synth droplets and fractured vocals panning about the mix. Taught
bass stabs keep you on your toes and make for an otherwordly robot disco
vibe. The second half of this well-crafted EP starts with the glowing pads
and creepy atmospheres of ‘Bioluminescence’, a classic Drexcyian electro jam
that charges hard and deep into the cosmos. ‘Neon Death’ is an explosion of
coruscated synth lines and bumping bass, tripped out machine sounds and
warped electro-techno before closer ‘C.A.R.R.I.O.N.’ zones you out with
intense ambient pads and modulated synths that are restless and paranoid.

Berlin-based
Irish artist Hybrasil returns to Rekids with four murky techno cuts in ‘We
Don’t Flip’. Having made numerous appearances on Rekids including ‘Embers’,
his debut album released last year, Hybrasil has become a core artist on Matt
Edwards’s label when not releasing on his very own eponymous imprint.
Reflecting on an amazingly creative 2019, at the start of this year Hybrasil
set a new creative path for his future live shows, writing new music that
received regular support from Radio Slave, which is what ultimately shaped
this new four-track release. ‘We Don’t Flip’ opens the package with an
immediate shadowy aesthetic before rattling kicks, off-beat hats and snappy
snares lay down the groove as distorted vocal murmurs join delayed synths. ‘Hour
Glass’ is next with its syncopated rhythm and quivering pads before ‘Ikigai’
takes things into wonkier territories courtesy of subtle melodies, metallic
atmospherics and dubby chords. Tying everything together, ‘System H’ takes
things up a notch, adding extra oomph to the package using powerful drums,
rippling bass and deep stabs |

UNCAGE label owner Marco Faraone
is back on Rekids with three massive soulful cuts entitled ‘True Love EP’.
Hailing from Tuscany, Faraone has risen to become one of Italy’s leading
house and techno artists over the last fifteen years. When not performing at
the likes of Awakenings, Caprices, Tomorrowland and Kappa FuturFestival, the
producer has released on leading labels like Ovum, Drumcode and Be As One.
Since debuting on Rekids two years ago he’s become a notable fixture on the
Berlin-based imprint, dropping numerous releases including his sophomore
album, and he returns again now in fine form. Opening the release in a big
way, ‘True Love’ is built on galloping kicks, rattling shakers and a murky
bass throb whilst a distorted vocal sing the track title. A cacophony of
percussion then joins deep synths in ‘Want Me’ before introducing a powerful
diva vox, leading into ‘Safari’ with its bubbling effects, piercing stabs and
swinging hats |

Enigmatic producer RNDTXTR debuts
on Rekids with a deep techno three tracker entitled‘Random EP’ this
September. “Some tracks just stick with you. They never leave your box, or in
this case USB, and I’ve been playing these tracks from RNDTXTR for well over
two years. Everywhere from Tokyo to Berlin. These have a universal appeal,
being hypnotic and just the right balance between pushy club sounds and
spatial melodies” - Radio Slave. Shrouded in murky atmospherics, ‘RND009’
opens the package with rigorous drums, shuffling shakers, sweeping pads and
scintillating synths. ‘RND007 (Dub Mix)’ continues with a similar cantering
rhythm as various rattling percussive elements work alongside clever
automation for a tracky cut designed to lock listeners into a trance.
Concluding matters, ‘RND004’ is the wonkiest number on the package with its
syncopated groove and otherworldly melody |

Renaissance
are proud to announce the arrival of Fur Coat to the label. ‘Hurricane’ is
the first single to be taken from their upcoming album, ‘Polyphony’ (due
October), and features the vocal talents of Running Pine who came to
prominence last year on Mind Against’s ‘Trust My Eyes’. The original version
of ‘Hurricane’ also marks a double first as it sees the Fur Coat duo - Sergio
and Israel - exploring new sounds. “There’s a more indie, electronic vibe to
‘Hurricane’,” explains Sergio, “because it’s from the upcoming album we had
the scope to experiment more.” “It’s still us though,” continues Israel, “I
think it maintains the melodies and groovy elements that characterise our
sound.” And the good news is the release doesn’t stop there. If bass guitar
and Running Pine’s haunting vocal’s aren’t your thing, the guys have kindly
contributed a dubbier, club mix, which really is Fur Coat in all their
melodic techno glory. “If the original is more for the day, the clue is in
the title of this mix; we specifically produced it for the peak, night time
dancefloors,” Fur Coat confirm. Last, but by no means least, comes Tim Green,

acclaimed The ReMix Collection - a scintillating reworking of Jaydee’s 1992
R&S classic ‘Plastic Dreams’ from one of the leading names in techno:
Producer, DJ & MOOD Records label boss Nicole Moudaber. Nicole Moudaber’s
spectacular and atmospheric remix of ‘Plastic Dreams’ is already receiving
strong DJ support, not least from Carl Cox, who has been playing it out as a
highlight of his recent sets. A track that Nicole Moudaber had always wanted
to remix, when approaching such an iconic track as ‘Plastic Dreams’, she

Filii Nigrantium Infernalium
began at the end of the eighties under the name Bactherion. They were heavily
influenced by bands such as Hellhammer and Necro Schizma. After changing
their name to the latin denomination of children of the infernal darkness they
released the demo "Os Métodos do Pentagrama", which was widely
distributed within the then growing Black Metal Underground. The Mini CD that
followed, "A Era do Abutre", embraced their Heavy Metal influences,
and was much of a Black Heavy hybrid. Entering a lethargic deathlike sleep,
they returned from the darkness in 2002 with an EP that foreran their long
elusive debut album, which was to be released in 2005 with the name
"Fellatrix Discordia Pantokrator". Releases and performances went
on in an erratic way, including a second album, "Pornokrates Deo
Gratias", in 2013 |

Records continue their exploration into the deeper reaches of electro with an
EP from Berlin based Richard Easel, featuring remixes from close
collaborators Datawave and Federico Leocata. The EP comprises of 3 distinct

modular sounds of the Buchala. Datawave’s remix of Exterreri, with his

Net geen jaar nadat hij zijn
debuutplaat op de wereld bracht, komt FULCO in september met een kortspeler
vol licht-geniale absurdistische hersenspinsels op de proppen. Is dit een
compilatie, een rariteitenkabinet of een volstrekt legale bootleg? Sowieso alvast
een hebbeding van 10-inch lang. FULCO heeft iets met de F. FULCO - Faam
allitereert zo lekker. En 'Faam' is ook een lied over de roem. Over omringd
te zijn door veelvouden van je eigen spiegelbeeld maar jezelf niet meer
kunnen terugvinden. Ook de 'Opflakkeraar' bevat de letter F. Dit liedje
haalde zijn album niet, maar wordt nu toch naar buiten gebracht. En op
'Glinsterkinderen' geeft hij de fakkel door aan de volgende generatie.
Politiek is een buitenbeentje (al lijkt de P eigenlijk wel op een F...). Het
is dan ook een cover van Bram Vermeulen. En 'Een beetje verfrommeld' krijgt
een dubremix van de mysterieuwe Vectrex en doet zijn cultstatus nog wat meer
eer aan |

I'VE
SEEN, Oku Onuora's new album is slated to be released February 22, 2019 on
the Swiss based Fruits Records label. The album was produced by Dr. T and
Fruits Records. Oku Onuora, Dub Poet extraordinaire is known for his hard
hitting socio-political commentaries fussed with potent musical accompaniment
is at it again. This new album alternates between a cappella poems and poems
fussed with powerful riddims performed in the purest Jamaican tradition by
the musicians of The 18th Parallel, to which is added Doctor's T modern
electronic touch. In 2013 after withdrawal for over a decade from the
poetry/music scene, Oku signaled that his re-emergency was in full effect
with the release of A MOVEMENT; featuring Monthly Alexander, Sly and Robbie,
Audrey Hall, Jawara. This was followed up by the vinyl single release
YESTERDAY, TODAY, TOMORROW in 2015. Then there was a reissue of the seminal
REFLECTION IN RED in 2016 and in 2018 came the reissue of the compilation
album I A TELL DUBWIZE... & OTHERWISE. February 22, 2019 is the launch
date for the Word/music missile I'VE SEEN. Be prepared for a word, music
fallout that has never before been heard. This album will delight both
specialists and genre enthusiasts |

One of the most important artists
in the development of the Horo sound, Astral Projection is the first full

The second release on Raw Basics
is a solo single from Basic Rhythm that brings a summery Techno vibe to your
turntable. The A side opens with a bright lush pad lowly panning from left to
right, coupled with a bouncy kick drum and light percussive hits, before
unleashing a heavyweight bass line designed to rattle your sub stacks and
knock the air out of your chest. Cha is a stepper that draws from, and
combines Dancehall and Detroit Techno with a deftness that only Basic Rhythm
can bring to the dance floor. The B side is a more subdued affair, invoking
clear blue skies and a warm summer breeze. Opening with a lush chord and
muted 4/4 kick drum, the layers of tape hiss obfuscate and add a little lo fi
fuzziness, while gradually building layers of percussion in that unique Basic
Rhythm style, adding hints of sub bass before finally opening up into a
straight stepper around the half way mark, with a solid kick drum and warm
bass line that compliments the lush airy chords. This is one for the summer! |

It's
been three years since the last vinyl by Ntogn was unveiled and now we're
glad to share with you the result of his venture through the recent winter.
'Smedjan' is inspired by the dwarven craftsmanship of Norse mythology. It is
made completely with organic sounds gathered from, and recorded in, the
forests of Balsta which is rich with northern heritage. Everything you hear
is either processed textures of birch wood blocks, layers of a custom made
Ukrainian artisan mouth harp or the artist's own voice. There is no synthesis
in this record. The kick drums are made by hitting these pieces of wood
against each other with contact microphones. Bass layers are extracted from
bark scraping against bark. Hi hats are crafted by recorded fire of the same
wood logs burning and ambiance is built from the forests where the trees grew
and from the woodshed where the artist chopped the wood during winter to keep
his cabin warm. The rhythms and sounds in this shed is what inspired the
making of this record. By shaping these sounds of wood and metal Ntogn
strives to create a sonic experience that connects the listener to the old
Norse stories of the dwarven craftsmanship of Svartalfheim |

You’d
be forgiven for thinking KRANKk is from the UK. Their blend of Grimey
basslines, Burial-inspired atmospherics, and future garage beats sound like
they’ve been brewed up in a London lock-off. Really, though, they’re from
Antwerp - and they’ve added a mad twist in that they play their two-step
rhythms with live instrumentation. KRANKk, crazy young dogs from the Antwerp
urban scene. Keyboard player Aram Abgaryan, drummer Thomas Geysen and
guitarist Willem Heylen study at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, where
they found each other through their love for electronic music. The trio grew
up with jungle, drum'n'bass, dubstep, and UK Garage. "That sound just
appealed to us. It was funky, skippy, bouncy." Debut single "Like
That" is an instant hit. Nervous clicks and fragmentary synth waves
drive to a bouncy apotheosis. Guest rappers Miss Angel and Blu Samu (see also
Zwangere Guy ) provide a fresh, melodic setting. Moody successor
"Crazy" with David Ngyah (see also Blackwave.) made it to Ultratop
in last year's Flemish hit parade. As students of the conservatory, the trio
KRANKk is very much in touch with their instruments. Sounds - and the way
they are produced - are very important |
