Dutch groove connaisseur Ivano Tetelepta returns to his home
base ESHU Records. Presenting four tripped out originals accompanied by two
excellent reworks by befriended artists Jasper Wolff and Ion Ludwig. The pack
perfectly captures the loosely and laid back attitude of the label and Ivano
himself, doing their own thing as always. The a-side is all about the groove,
a stripped down and playful rhythmic jam built for a hazy late night session
with Ion Ludwig turning this inside-out, transforming the original into a
lengthy minimal dub version. The early morning sun rays bring the vibes on
the flipside where 'Loosen Up' is an atmospheric 90s feeling techno floater
where Indigo aera head honcho Jasper Wolff shakes this up with a fierce
techno twist. As special addition there's a 7" where Tetelepta shows one
of his enlightening dub meditations and a rambling early Mills-esque tribal
work-out. The whole bunch is mastered by Marco Spaventi and will be released
digitally and in special 12"+7" pack |

Prolific American artist Jon
Hester returns to Rekids for the first instalment of his new album,
‘Converge’, this September. Jon Hester grew up in the Midwest US, living in
Chicago and Minneapolis while taking musical cues from Detroit. Initially he
was a dancer, and later transitioned to the decks with a refined
understanding of what it takes to move a club. He progressed to hosting his
own events, holding residencies, and working at a record shop, and now brings
his physical rhythms and adventurous drums to his productions, with output on
respected labels such as Transmat, Deeply Rooted, Dystopian, Klockworks, and
LET Recordings, not to mention multiple appearances on Rekids. Continuing to
show fine form on his debut album, Hester now serves up eight of his
signature house and techno fusions with plenty of his trademark directness
across four sides of vinyl. The superb 'Sending Signals' opens the album with

(2018) prove anything, it's that Steiger is not just a band, but a continuous
work-in-progress. Gilles Vandecaveye-Pinoy (keyboards), Kobe Boon (bass) and
Simon Raman (drums) eagerly explore the outer margins of jazz and dive into
other universes (contemporary music, electronica, pop, free
improvisation,...), but basically also remain faithful to the genre's
long-standing core principle; that of a flexible transformation. The winners
of the 2017 Gent Jazz Festivals' Jazztalent award had been selected to play
the 12 Points Festival in 2018. For their new EP Brick Smoke Basement, that
paves the way for a third album (to be released in the spring of 2021), the
trio continues its path of renewal and experiment. By doing this, the trio
builds on Give Space, but also moves beyond it, to explore as yet unfamiliar
territory. Three residencies - at Vooruit (Ghent), Flagey (Brussels) and
deSingel (Antwerp) - gave the band opportunities to incorporate new ideas
into its music, like the use of piano, harpsichord and synths. Collaborating
with an external musician was a first for the band |

Lemon
D steps up to deliver two unreleased cuts from the archives for the second
instalment of the ‘Legends’ series on V. This series aims to source some of
the finest unreleased gems from some of D&B’s most well-known and
established artist that never saw the light of day, and press them up for the
world to hear. ‘Wu Tang’ has been doing the rounds on various message boards
and D&B group chats for years, possibly cut from an old Kiss FM show from
the mid-90s. It recently had new light shone on it by the D&B producer
Serum who called it out as one of his favourite unreleased tracks from this
era. Sounding as fresh as the day it was made ‘Wu Tang’ is a classic,
rolling, dancefloor steppa, simple but deadly, and complete with some iconic
Wu Tang samples! On the flip ‘The Lost Dub Mix’ brings a real tearout vibe to
proceedings, with a deep warm bassline, on top of some tearing Lemon D drums.
This one twists and turns and is an essential pieces of Lemon D history! As
part of the legendary Valve Soundsystem alongside Dillinja, Lemon D forged
his own path in Jungle D&B, and is responsible for a plethora of iconic
tracks from the 90s and 2000s |

Suction
Records presents the first new album since 2014 by the legendary, and
somewhat underrated electronic project of Mark Van Hoen, Locust. The album is
called "The Plaintive". When Suction was formed in 1997, we were
deeply enthralled with the UK “listening” electronic scene, otherwise known
as electronica or IDM, but besides the obvious icons - Aphex Twin, Autechre,
and other luminaries of labels like Rephlex, Warp, and Skam Records - one of
our heroes was the lesser known Locust, whose productions were murkier, more
hypnotic, and deeply organic sounding. Those early Locust records - released
via R&S/Apollo Records - were, and have remained, firm favourites.
Pouring through the Locust album liner notes back in the ‘90s, it was the first
time we’d ever read of a “techno” artist using modular synthesizers to make
modern music. Earlier this year, Locust released “The Plaintive” as a
15-track CD/digital album, part of Touched Music’s “Touched By Silence”
boxset, and the CD was sold out in a matter of hours. Having heard Locust’s
contribution to the set, we were immediately smitten with the material, which
sounded very much unlike the Locust of old, yet absolutely complimentary to
Van Hoen’s murky, analog-synth past |

Record Store Day 2020, Far Out Recordings presents a special 'poisoned vinyl'
edition of Ivan 'Mamão' Conti's critically acclaimed Poison Fruit album. The
180g splattered colour LP is accompanied by an exclusive bonus 7” with a
previously unreleased track from the original Poison Fruit sessions
‘Katmandu, and ‘Ninho’, a track never before released on vinyl. From an
artist in their seventies, you probably wouldn’t expect to hear an album like
this. But Brazilian drumming legend Ivan ‘Mamão’ Conti has been experimenting
and innovating for the last half a century. As one third of cult Rio
jazz-funk trio Azymuth, Mamão was at the root of the group’s ‘samba doido’
(crazy samba) philosophy, which warped the traditional samba compass with
jazz influences and space age electronics. Even with his lesser known jovem
guarda group The Youngsters, Mamão was experimenting with tapes and delays to
create unique, ahead-of-its-time sounds, way back in the sixties. More
recently Mamão recorded an album with hip-hop royalty Madlib under the shared
moniker ‘Jackson Conti’. With his first album in over twenty years, and the
first to be released on vinyl since his 1984 classic The Human Factor, Mamão
shares his zany carioca character across eleven tracks of rootsy electronic
samba and tripped out jazz, beats and dance music |

Following
the release of Milton Nascimento’s Maria Maria, Far Out Recordings proudly
presents Nascimento’s 1980 follow up. With the success of Maria Maria in 1976
behind them, Nascimento reunited with his writing partner Fernando Brant in
1980 to produce another ballet, ‘Ultimo Trem (Last train)’. This time, they
chose to tackle a more contemporarily relevant subject, the impact of the
closure of a train line that connected certain towns and cities in the North
East of Minas Gerais to the coast. “The military government shut down the
route and the whole region began to fade away,” explains Milton. “I love
train rides” adds the composer, “But today there are almost no trains to
Brazil. So when I go to the US and Europe, any time I can, I go by train. The
longer the journey the better.” Featuring much of the same all-star line-up
as Maria Maria – including legendary Brazilian musicians Naná Vasconcelos,
João Donato, Paulinho Jobim and members of Som Imaginário, amongst many
others, like Maria Maria, the album holds what Milton himself considers to be
the definitive versions of some of his most beloved tracks, including 'Saídas
E Bandeiras' and 'Ponte de Areia'. The title track, ‘Ultimo Trem’ – performed
exquisitely by Zezé Mota with a choir and piano – is a mournful lament about
the human consequences of the axed line. The ballet brought great media
attention to the campaign against closure. “Most of Fernando’s lyrics have
some political tone,” says Milton, “This one helped the area a lot because
the politicians grew concerned about the subjects.” Fernando’s and Milton’s
shared passion for the sounds, smells and memories of trains, inspired the
soundtrack for the production which premièred in 1980. ‘A Viagem (The trip)’,
launched with a train’s steam whistle, sees Milton’s guitar moving to a
train’s rhythm. In contrast to the usual lyricism, ‘Bicho Homen (Beastly
man)’ and ‘Decreto (Degree)’ are atypically upbeat and funky, their vocals a
mesh of wordless male voices resembling the then fashionable Swingles
Singers’ renderings of Bach. ‘E Daí? (And so what?)’, and ‘Olho d’Agua
(Water’s Eye)’ were both drawn from ‘Clube Da Esquina’. ‘Olho d’Agua’ is
mellow and delicate and Milton’s homage to the great voices of Brazil whilst
‘E Daí? (And so what?)’ is a stunning mosaic of voices. The unusual ‘O Velho
(The Old Man)’ conjures up an image of an old shaman singing alone into the
wind against the cries of nature. Perhaps the most affecting songs are
Nascimento’s ‘Itamarandiba’ and ‘Oração (Prayer)’. The latter is a cry for a
change in the situation whilst ‘Itamarandiba’ ends with an upbeat, whirling
Hammond organ and guitar timepiece. The closing track ‘Ponta de Areia (Sand
Edge)’, was based on one of Fernando’s newspaper stories and became one of
Milton’s most famous pieces, covered by musicians across the planet,
including Wayne Shorter and Earth, Wind and Fire. It reappeared as a ghostly
45-seconds memory on the ‘Milton e Gil’ album, his millennial collaboration
with Gilberto Gil |

Picking
up where 2018's debut album left off, Pleasurekraft continue their foray into
the Cosmic Techno sub-genre they helped usher in to the dance music lexicon.
Having released on their own Kraftek label - as have fellow techno explorers
Spektre this year - and had one of the biggest tracks last year on Drumcode
with their remix for Adam Beyer's “Space Date,' they always bring forward
thinking grooves embellished with astral melodies and spaced out synths that
make for emotional as well as physical experiences. The new album Love in the
Age of Machines is in no short supply of the sonic signatures the production
duo have become known for, there is a clear maturation at work here. The
album's non-techno tracks showcase an artistry rarely seen in conventional
dance music and techno in particular. From the gritty dystopian future that

Faces On TV. We might want to thank love for that shift, because slowly,
gradually he might actually start to believe in its potential force. Jasper
doesn't even shy away from the love cliches on Keep Me Close, a quintet of
songs he wrote the past year. It may seem like a bit of a paradox, but the
accessibility in fact makes them more vulnerable, and courageous. Instead of
soul-stirring he shares his observations. Keep Me Close is Maekelberg's
sexual healing for socially distant times. It feels natural and organic. He
is in a happy place, from which sprung a happy record - or, nearly so. Let's
not get ahead of ourselves. Whereas Jasper used to excel in sculpting
miniatures, these new songs are life size. The intricacies and layers are
still there but the preoccupations are gone. Faces On TV never sounded this

We’re
excited to present our next 12” vinyl. This time, we go back in time once
again with a brand-new remix of an absolute classic. Yves Deruyter’s Calling
Earth was a mega hit back in the day, now in 2020, the track has been given a
makeover by electronic music icon, Umek. From those early days at Bonzai,
Yves has been at the forefront, dishing out countless tracks under his own
name and a host of guises and collaborations. Still rocking the scene today,
producing and DJing for the masses, he has surpassed 35 years as a DJ and it
doesn’t look like he will be stopping anytime soon. His tracks have a
tendency to find their way into modern sets, holding their own in timeless
fashion. So, it’s no surprise that in 2020, Umek decided to have a go at
remixing this popular track, which has been played by the likes of Adam Beyer
and even got an airing on BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix. Slovenian artist,
Umek, started out in 1993. He was pioneering the sound in his country,
bringing the music to the masses at such a young age. In 1999 he founded
Consumer Recreation and Recycled Loops and has went on to churn out a
plethora of work on other world-renowned labels |

release of a newly established label from Brixton called Top Brick Records.
The title track kicks off proceedings with a hypnotising piano sample soon
accompanied by a preaching vocal and screeching synths. Chez Toi follows

deep digging, Dark Entries has uncovered many curiosities, lone exemplars of
the scarsest breeds. They are lurking in Croatia, on the streets of New York,
maybe in the back of your own dusty closet - these odd-ball Italo and
synth-wave monsters are too rare to live, too divine to die. Once-lost
creatures now have a home with Dark Entries’ new Endangered Species series.
The inaugural edition features five specimens previously deemed extinct, only
mentioned passingly in lore and speculation, but now safely preserved on
vinyl. The first cut on Endangered Species Vol. 1 is the previously
unreleased electro-New Wave gem “Munich” by John King, an artist best known
for his work as one half of the Dust Brothers, lauded producers of the
Beastie Boys’ legendary Paul’s Boutique. “Munich”, a Danceteria-ready cut
produced in 1983, sheds some light on King’s earlier interests, bridging
between freestyle and emotive synthpop |
