One of the prime movers in the
early Factory movement, A Certain Ratio were known for a lot more than just
wearing shorts on stage and for switching remarkably quickly from post-punk
to punk-funk. This is their second album which has yet to have the re-issue
treatment. Would have fitted in perfectly to the punk funk that everyone
loved a few years ago. Well maybe they still do. The album shows some serious
Latin, samba and jazz influences yet still manages to retain the sound of
rainy Manchester. Wilson must have been horrified but it certainly fits right
in with the early 80-s funksters such as Pigbag, Liquid Liquid et al |

One debuts on Token with the Radon EP. The artist's first outing on the label
gathers up four more floor focused recordings, whilst maintaining the rich,
low-sunk atmospherics characteristic of so much of his popular work. Dense
and propulsive, the EP majors on leftfield sound design, with synth
abstractions underpinned by warm, pulsating polyrhythms. Opener Tracer sets
the tone for the record with sleek, swung sequences sparring and panning off
one another. Each component shifts and develops neatly over its run time
lending the recording an exciting live element. Split, the EP's most obvious
main room missive, strikes from the first kick drum - classy and well worked,
the recording marries tight snare rolls & a tripped out breakdown without
losing any sense of style. Nuclide opens the B side, and continues in this
same, effervescent vein - channelling pure peak time energy. Title track
Radon closes the EP - a stunning exercise in purist techno that places its
emphasis on a single repetition to great effect, buoying the work with
occasional flourishes that serve to propel the track on towards its end |

One
of those essential pieces of music for both classical music listeners, sound
track aficionados and more spiritual techno heads! According to astrology,
every planet in our solar system represents a certain mood. Inspired by this
idea, Gustav Holst (1874-1934) composed his seven-part orchestral work The
Planets, in which the planetary moods are convincingly turned into sound,
from the aggressive Mars to the mystical Neptune and the tender Venus. The
Planets has had much influence on the later genre of film music. With John
Williams's Imperial March from Star Wars films as the most clear example, but
also Techno producers such as Jeff Mills took inspiration from this work, and
even did record his own rendition as the most recent example. The London Philharmonic
Orchestra's performance recorded in 1978, led by ninety year old Sir Adrian
Boult, is considered one of the very best recordings of The Planets and
presented in this premium package pressed on high quality 180 grams 2lp in a
limited edition run of 300 copies! |

Dark Entries is humbled to
continue digging through the archives of legendary producer Patrick Cowley.
While best known for his production on chart-topping cybernetic disco anthems
such as Sylvester’s “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)” or his own “Menergy”,
Cowley, who passed away from AIDS-related illness in 1982, left us with a
substantial body of work. Since 2009, Dark Entries has been working with
Cowley’s friends and family to shed light on the lesser known facets of this
singular artist’s output. This has resulted in a string of celebrated
archival albums, including Catholic (featuring Jorge Socarras), School Daze,
Muscle Up, Afternooners, and the recent Mechanical Fantasy Box. Some
Funkettes, the latest addition to this series, is a collection of previously
unreleased cover songs recorded from 1975-1977. These raw, unembellished
tributes both showcase Cowley’s early musical interests and chart the
development of his production techniques |

skyline". Varsovia's Recursos Inhumanos Inhuman Resources, a classic
album of Peruvian synth punk, is finally available in vinyl format. Since its
appearance in 2014, Varsovia surprised many listeners with its combination of
punk and synthesizer electronics, in the best tradition of groups such as
Kraftwerk, Suicide, The Normal, Chris & Cosey or Aviador Dro. Using
sequencers and drum machines, loud guitars and a voice that oscillates
between whispers and shouts, the band builds songs that offer a freewheeling

Burial Stone is slow rotten
filth, caveman doomy Death Metal, or call it just old school Death Metal. The
"Lost history" debut recording by this New Jersey (U.S.A.) duo
really sounds like it should have been recorded back in late 80s or 1990, not
a single day later. No sights of modern technology or studio abuse but
massive bass, obscure mid tempo rhythms, mesmerizing guitar leads and deep

Astaron
from Vienna Austria were a music and art performance duo made up of Angie
Mörth (Member of viele bunte Autos) and Martina Aichhorn who existed from
1984 to 1989. Influenced by the Viennese Actionism, Einstürzende Neubauten
and Kate Bush and armed with a big dose of black humour and a true love for
trash culture they created an impressively unique body of work. They released
two DIY tapes, One 12" and this stunning self titled album at the tail
end of 1987. It was originally released by local label Ton Um Ton Records in
a criminally low pressing of 500 Copies. It's an unadjusted highly
experimental and totally addictive dark wave album with hints of minimal post

Sepulchres", redefines and magnifies ENCOFFINATION's signature low-end
funeral doom wrapped in the pure stench of death. Based on Ghoat's own
experiences of working in the funeral industry, "O- Hell, Shine In Thy
Whited Sepulchres" is a concept album... not in the linear sense, but
abstract, from the death of the human form to the sacrifice of flesh into the
Earth. Each members- tracks were recorded in their individual home states
Summer 2011 while the drums in Cooper, Texas (ElektroSound) and the guitars,
bass and drums in Atlanta, Georgia (Graf Yairden). Each track was recorded in
the total solitude of the individual members, another excursion into the
abyss of death, invoking total incarnation of funereal reality. A must have

The
third vinyl release on Manjumasi comes from enigmatic Ukranian producer Silat
Beksi, whose work shines in its expertly honed details. Each of his
productions is infused with an intricate sense of groove and texture
— one is left with the feeling that describing his sound as
“minimal” does not do it justice. Over the course of many vinyl releases, he
has shown himself to have a unique sonic touch, a style that is best
described as his own. he A-side features two works. Lead track DNA is a moody
affair with an extremely deep descending bassline that anchors the low-end,
while atmospheric pads develop above. The track is imbued with a feeling of
life, evolving, emerging from the shadowy mists. This is followed up by
Frozen, a more groove-forward number with an emphasis on trippy melodic
details and vocal edits that keep the ears constantly engaged. On the B side
is Light In The Darkness, a meditative but driving track with a long and very
deliberate energetic build. As the name suggests, this one conveys a sense of
optimism, with wide pads that evoke new possibilities opening ahead |

What happens when you 2 lads are
locked in a studio in the middle of Devon for 2 days? YM003. Late last summer
Josh Baker & Alfie Jack went on a trip down South to satisfy their
creative needs as they spent 2 days locked inside Devon Analogue Studio.
Their output was insane, with 12 tunes being churned out, and it was obvious
that some would be going through our label. After much deliberation we
decided on these 3 timeless cuts; Hazard, Simplistic and Night. We believe
these tracks really show our intent as a label, not limiting ourselves and
continuing to push our sound forward. These two producers have really truck
up a formidable partnership when it comes to making tracks so it makes us

Utrecht
label U-Trax welcomes 90s legend P.A. Presents for an enhanced re-release of
his first two releases on this label, namely "Salicylic Acid" and
"Flight Simulator". Ironically P.A. Presents aka Peter Aarsman is
the only artist on U-TRAX that actually is born and bred in the city of
Utrecht. Even more irony lies in the fact that he hasn't lived in the city
for 25 years and has only recently returned home. He was an early player in
the hip hop and boogie scenes and long before house landed in Europe he was
playing disco and Italo which helped establish him as a truly vital DJ
talent. The two reissue EPs presented here marked his production debut back
in 1993, both of which are hugely sought after and pricey techno records on
second hand markets. In 2019 he returned to the music scene with two new EPs
on U-Trax in the the form of Swirling Gas and Sax Madness and new releases
are planned for 2020. The release kicks off with 'Mesopmorph', an
effervescent, nostalgic cut with a deeply buried techno rhythm that
eventually takes over in tribal style |
