one of the few Austrians to shape the sound of late-1970s disco, performing
and selling records around the world. Not many know his daughters Judy and
Nicola, however, and the fact that they in 1987 wrote a song that they
recorded together with their father. Well, here it is: Cracy Coconuts,
“Rubberdub Dance” – a true Hauenstein family affair. We are proud to
re-release this super rare 7” that proves, once and for all, that Austrians
can excel at digi-dub. Timelessly tropical and beautifully bouncy, its vibe

based Rudosa has been around for almost a decade, quietly building a nice
catalog of releases signed to Intec, Suara and Second State. Not to forget
collecting multiple Beatport top 10s and support from iconic producers
including Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, ANNA, and Amelie Lens. His no nonsense
approach to Techno lead to this debut 4 track release on Terminal this
September, after his debut on the labels VA earlier this year. Opening with
the title track ‘Heavy Rotation’, it’s an emotionally charged, acidic roller.
Warehouse drums and wild open hats playfully minge with sharp pads, vocals
and stabs. ‘Primo’ continues apace. Stadium-sized sonics and a kettle drum
kick drive the track as it thunders on into the dark recesses of the club.
‘Delusions’ is a trippy, trancey cut. Wild melodics weave among the sparse
percussive layers creating a softer, but no less engaging mid-set
showstopper. Finally, ‘Adapted’ ties up the EP in epic fashion. A very

In
2018 Far Out Recordings signed a record deal with Brooklyn born, nomadic
producer Jneiro Jarel. Having just put the finishing touches to the
recordings, Jarel suffered an ischemic stroke while living and working in
Costa Rica and his wife Indigo was forced to set up a crowd fund to cover
special medical transport back to the states to receive treatment. The
release was put on hold, but thanks to the generosity of friends and fans
around the world, Jarel was able to get the care he needed and is now on the
long road to recovery. We’re overjoyed to finally announce that Jneiro
Jarel’s After A Thousand Years is now set for an October 2020 release.
Throughout a career that has spanned over twenty years and seen
collaborations with MF DOOM, Thom Yorke, Damon Albarn, BadBadNotGood,
Portishead’s Beth Gibbons, Kimbra and Khujo Goodie (Dungeon Family), Jneiro
Jarel’s consistently distinctive, forward thinking productions, as well as
his love for the music of Brazil, made his partnership with Far Out a perfect
fit. Recorded between New York, New Orleans, Miami and Costa Rica, After A
Thousand Years features legendary multi-instrumentalist Bill Summers, famed
for his work with Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones and Eddie Henderson. The album

life around the world, we want to move the focus away from depressing

born and raised in Italy. While his music has been outstanding for many
years, only recently he has drawn more attention to his alias - with releases

When
Upset The Rhythm released Normil Hawaiians’ lost album ‘Return Of The
Ranters’ back in 2015, the band members got back in touch with each other
after a 30 year break and starting playing music together again. Out of this
the group played a launch show for the album and followed that up with more
concerts, including an appearance at Supernormal, a residency at the
Edinburgh Festival, gigs at Cafe OTO and supporting Richard Dawson in London
too. They even recently toured Greece in support of having all three of their
renowned exploratory post-punk albums finally back in print. Throughout this
time, Normil Hawaiians revisited their original songs for these live
performances. However for a group always so interested in evolving their
sound and seeking nuance, it comes as no surprise that they shirked the idea
of a faithful retread of old material in favour of reimagining their songs.
The group experimented by pushing their songs into new inventive dimensions,
still progressive at heart, but now imbued with a cosmic uncanny. A
cinematic, even pastoral approach that was always quietly present has come to
the fore |

Rebuke
returns to Drumcode with a trio of timeless dancefloor weapons. The
Irishman’s ‘Rattle’ was a standout of 2019, judged by DJ Mag as their no.22
top track of the year and is etched in the Drumcode discography as one of the
most original releases to date. A valued part of Adam Beyer’s extended
collective; he would have made his Drumcode event debut at WMC in Miami this
March. Without a doubt, a sophomore EP was always on the cards. ‘Instatik’
kicks the work into gear, a rugged, reverb-heavy cut with industrial drums
that pump like pistons and an undulating synth effect that makes you feel
like you’re on a turbo-charged rollercoaster. ‘Livewire’ has the trademark
Rebuke brain-scrambling stamp on it, a flurry of steelyard percussion bring
the track to life, before a low-end melody swells to attention, rubbing
shoulders deliciously with driving drumlines, for an uplifting second half.

25-minute stretch of coiling, contorted grime and glitch; dub and hip hop
dropped with the buzz of an impending co-production credit on Kanye West’s
Yeezus in 2013. It included cuts of sound and beats that were too weird for
that pop project, while becoming a piece of experimental art that what would
come to define what is by now broadly known as a ‘post-club’ sound. It’s
music that is as visceral as it is experimental; made as much for the mind,
as it is for the body. Released with no warning seven years ago,
&&&&& became a bridge between Alejandra Ghersi’s time
partying and collaborating with her queer peers, while still living in New
York to the next stage of her career releasing on Mute in London. She’d go
from making beats for rapper Mykki Blanco and fashion label Hood By Air,
posting lurching bass reworkings of pop hits on YouTube, and producing her
first fluid mixtapes with DIS Magazine, to finishing off this seminal mixtape
on the synths in Daniel Miller’s studio. After dropping three impressive EPs
the year before, &&&&& marked a transition. Continuations
and extrapolations of material from Stretch 1 and Stretch 2 appeared in the
mangled RnB sampling of “Century” and Arca’s signature vocal layering in the
pitched flow of “Waste”. Along with the fluttering, muted heartbeat of
“Obelisk”, and the lumbering piano chords of “Mother”, fourteen sonic
sketches were elegantly woven together into a single, downloadable whole. As
Alejandra’s course turned toward moving to Europe from the United States,
&&&&& became a remarkable challenge to the form of the
mixtape, which was a relatively new trend taking hold of the online-oriented
underground at the turn of the 2010s |

are undead by nature and these ones seem to be not only not dead, but very
much alive and active: ZOMBIES IN MIAMI is a project created by Canibal &
Jenouise and despite the name they are not crawling around Miami, but shining
out their light from Mexico. The couple became one of the most prominent
members of Mexico‘s vital electronic scene over the last decade. You can call
their sound a rhythmic and synth-driven house and techno hybrid, with a disco
and balearic twist, which is held together by the oh so sweet Italo Drama. As
the living dead always seemed to be a big inspiration for Italian filmmakers,
the love seems mutual and the movie scores rubbed off on the other end as
well. After highly acclaimed EPs and tracks for such diverse labels as Gerd
Janson's Running Back, Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant, Prins Thomas's
Internasjonal as well as Hippie Dance or Bordello A Parigi, now it’s time for
the great couple’s first album: "2712" on Permanent Vacation. The

Clear, is the quintessence of reggae and groove, as only Manu Dibango can
conceive them. After a stay in Nigeria and a great tour with the Ivorian
Radio-Television Orchestra, the Cameroonian saxophonist landed for the first
time in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1976. Just a few steps away from Bob Marley's
home (taking the time to greet him every day on his way to the studio to say
“hello”!). It was with the cream of the crop of musicians at that time
(Robbie Shakespeare and Sly Dunbar, Randy and Michael Brecker, Lou Marini...)
and in the legendary Dynamic Sounds Studios that he shaped this 100% roots
album. With a slightly relaxed and positive atmosphere, far from the usual
militant style lyrics, Manu's reggae invites you to "chill out",
and is supported by a highly effective backing choir. Like most of his
albums, Manu's reggae is also very mixed, blending African, Jamaican and
American inspiration with danceable funk on tracks such as Goro City and
Happy Feeling. The cherry on the cake is his hit "Soul Makossa" -
sampled without permission by Michael Jackson and Rihanna a few years later –
and arranged in a Caribbean sauce in a slower version, renamed "Reggae
Makossa." If there's one thing we can truly salute here, it is that Manu
Dibango can compose reggae with respect for tradition while adding his own
personal touch. We can see this touch later in the album Cubafrica, where
Manu was able to surround himself with the best Cuban musicians (the Quarteto
Patria) |

Italian duo Reform return to Second State with their latest release, four
tracks of innovative, hard-hitting and unusually sophisticated techno. The
throbbing kick and trippy synths of “Close Encounters” opens the EP, with a
foreign, clipped vocal and breaksy jungle elements adding further interest
and mystique. “Stance”, meanwhile, is a straight-up stomper packed with
ricocheting percussion, rubbery synth blasts and disorienting pads, all
crying to be heard in a club. “Mind Control” demands to rain down on a crowd
at a festival, too. A lean, nimble build steadily escalates into an
irresistible, shuffling beat boosted by shifting, bouncy synth patterns and
an unrelenting forward momentum. The pair’s unusual knack for blending
disparate elements into something atypical but completely danceable is
perhaps best demonstrated on “Horse Riding”. The drums are tribal, the stabs
are acid-like, there’s a gauzy filter laid over the top, and tickling
hi-hats, but also an undeniable thump commanding bodies to move. Put simply,
this dream team from Tuscany are making music well beyond their years that
stands up beside the work of veterans (and is often more interesting) |

At
the end of the 90s, a movement began in West London that birthed a fresh
direction in dance music. Though this movement never got mainstream press
coverage, never had a crossover chart single, and never really transcended
its community roots, there was a unique alchemy at work - a fertile moment of
creativity, where a group of friends began to experiment with new cadences,
rhythms and distilled influences, crafting a new direction in the attics and
bedrooms of their neighbouring postcodes. Their music was a head-on collision
between the sounds they had been raised on; the reggae sound system culture
of Notting Hill Carnival, the sophistication and sheen of Electro-Funk, Jazz
Fusion, Soulful House and Disco, the Afro-Beat sounds of Tony Allen and Fela
Kuti, and the raw minimalism of early Hip Hop. Though "Broken Beat"
was never a tagline that the producers anticipated, and one that they often
publicly resisted, those two words would gradually come to represent the
scattered rhythms, rolling basslines and soaring changes that were inherent
to this exciting new sound. It's not clear who first coined the term
"Broken Beat", but try to imagine how it felt to hear it for the
first time; the production was grounded in MPCs and SP1200s, the hand-me-down
samplers of the Hip-Hop and Jungle golden eras, and the drums that tumbled
out of these machines at the hands of these creators had a jagged, stuttering
feel, almost as though the groove was close to collapse |

brilliant Jori Hulkkonen returns to the French based F Communications to help
the label celebrate 10 years in this volatile industry by gracing them with 2
original productions of his own in his A Letter From Cardassia EP. Expect
trademark quality house that Jori has become famously known for in his years
of producing. First up on the EP is Fermi Paradox. Retro at its finest, the
track features some very nice crisp drum patterns and a bouncy baseline to
get very excited about. As the track builds, the baseline forms into a
bouncing retro synths, accompanies by fantastically produced drums and
percussion. Funky house with a electro and techy edge, it really must be
heard to understand the appeal! On the flip is the Live Version of 7 Strange,
7 Faith. The beats are quirky, and the baselines bouncy in this production
that is just as impressive as the tasty a-side. A brilliant groove is created
by the low end sounds, and also by the beautiful string patterns that ride
the track for the majority of the record. A quirky vocal line doesn’t harm
its allure in a track that increases in emotion as it progresses. A beautiful
release for the French label here provided by a man that very rarely puts a
foot wrong |

Fallout ‘The Morning After’, Produced by Lenny Dee and Tommy
Musto, was originally released in 1987 on the legendary Fourth Floor Records.
Originally recorded as a 17 minute opus, the track was edited into different
versions; the Sunrise Mix and The Aftermath. The names Fallout and The
Morning After were Tommy and Lenny’s personal references to a private after
hours club called the RoofTop on the 23rd floor of a building in New York
where they played, named as a nod to the after effects of the late nights and
early mornings of these parties. ‘The Morning After’ crossed many genres of
dance music, and was notoriously adopted by Grooverider and Fabio who
championed it at Rage, their legendary Thursday night party in London.
Remastered for this re-issue, and also tastefully remix by nu disco producer
of the moment, Purple Disco Machine, a new lease of life awaits for this
genuine classic which has truly stood the test of time |

Layton
Giordani crafts his most accomplished work to date with ‘NewGeneration’, his
second album on Drumcode. Since 2017’s critically acclaimed debut album
‘Where It Begins’, the New Yorker has entrenched himself as one of the
label’s most vital artists and leader of techno’s new school brigade. At just
27, he’s collaborated with Adam Beyer and Green Velvet on multiple occasions,
linked with the legendary Danny Tenaglia for the now-classic ‘Live Again’ and
played everywhere from Awakenings, Melt! Festival and Warehouse Project. He’s
also lived the Transatlantic life more than most, splitting his time between
the Big Apple and Amsterdam, absorbing influences from across the electronic
spectrum. It’s these experiences that inform ‘New Generation’, a masterclass
of techno futurism and glistening example of Giordani’s ever-developing
talents as a producer. Opening with the shimmering soundscapes of ‘Shinjuku’,
a beatless two-and-a-half-minute mood setter, the album swings between
timeless multi-faceted dancefloor weapons, and more lilting, ambient techno
cuts rips for the golden hour. Already a favourite of the Drumcode faithful,
the album’s title track hits with a swarm of synapsesearing synths that saw
it go down a treat at Awakenings Festival, Tomorrowland and Gashouder in the
second half of 2019. ‘System Majority’ balances atmosphere and propulsive
rhythms on a knife’s edge and featured in Beyer’s DCR 515 radio show.
Giordani reunites with the legendary Green Velvet for ‘Life Lesson’, a
pulsating roller, which notably features the young New Yorker’s hypnotic
vocals on loop. Teaming with friend and fellow East Coaster Avision, ‘Power’
is punchy techno at its finest, driven by energetic stabs and a stirring
vocal from Chicago journeyman Cevin Fisher. After playing b2b a string of
times, Layton links with good friend Bart Skils for a maiden collaborative
track. Driven by a strong melodic lead, ‘Midnight Magic’ typified the moment
when the duo played it at Drumcode’s Awakenings event during ADE last year.
‘Feel A Vibe’ is an album highlight centered around plump bass, reverb-heavy
sonics, distorted bleeps and a spoken word vocal, which begs for a peak-time

The
Neon Judgement hail from the small town of Leuven near Brussels, Belgium and
gave birth to the New Beat and EBM scenes worldwide with the release of their
first two cassettes ‘Suffering’ (1981) and ‘TV Treated’ (1982). Always a
consistent duo of Dirk Da Davo (synthesizers, vocals) and TB Frank (guitar,
drum machine, vocals) The Neon Judgment worked in a parallel world alongside
Suicide, Cabaret Voltaire, and the Deutsche Neue Welle.In 1983 they released
the infamous 4-song ‘Cockerill-Sombre’ EP containing the dance-floor smash
“The Fashion Party” on Anything But Records. Dirk Da Davo says, “First we
recorded and mixed the drum parts and effects on 4-track, then we bounced
this mix to 2 tracks again what left us with 2 more channels to use for vocals
and additional instruments.” Veering between minimalistic industrial drones,
odd new wave-ish synth pop and dance music, underlain by cold, mechanical
rhythms. The band combine brash and seedy lyrics, with raw synthesizer stabs

We
are really excited to announce that the second edition of the long sold-out
Non Plus Ultra 1980-1987 is now available. This is the first retrospective
published in the XXIst century devoted to the electronic and underground
“Tecno” (the flip side to the mainstream Movida/Nueva Ola) from 80s Spain.
The record is a showcase of our identity and approach, as refers both music
and aesthetics and was in its time a milestone for Domestica when it was
first released in January 2012. Non Plus Ultra is a hand-picked collection of
hard-to-find recordings from the 80s pioneer Spanish electronic scene. Most
of the tracks featured on the album should be regarded as demos, even some
bands had the chance to record on cassette or reel-to-reel but they had a
very limited distribution. We present a repertoire of pioneering groups,
which are as unknown as they are interesting, creative, and ahead of their
times. For this second edition of only 200 numbered copies, we have
redesigned all the graphic elements. The cover has been hand printed with
stamps and the release comes complete with illustrated dossier and English
bio of all bands featured plus numbered postcard and download code |

Romania’s
Victor Stancov inaugurates his Simple Tracks imprint this October with the
‘Apollo’ EP, backed with a remix from Wareika. Victor Stancov is a producer
and DJ hailing from the coastal region of Constanta, Romania, a country
that’s become synonymous with the stripped-back twist in contemporary house
Stancov delivers here via his new label simple:tracks. As the name would
suggest, the label’s aim is to find pleasure and joy in the simple things,
delivering dance floor focused cuts for groove seekers. To launch
simple:tracks Stancov himself steps up to deliver two originals on the debut
12’’ and up first is titlecut ‘Apollo’, laid out over six and a half minutes
with an amalgamation of choppy chord sequences, swinging percussion and
subtly nuanced bass to create a hypnotic introduction. The second original
‘Delos’ follows, retaining a similarly ethereal aesthetic courtesy of snaking
dubbed out synths, winding pads and a bumpy bass hook. To round out the
release Wareika deliver their interpretation of ‘Delos’, and as expected from
the German minimal maestro’s the guys delivery a typically unique twist on
things |

Lena
Platonos is a Greek musician, pianist and music composer. One of the pioneers
in the Greek electronic music scene of the 1980s, she remains active today.
Lena was born on the island of Crete and grew up in Athens. She began
learning how to play the piano at the age of two and became a professional
pianist before turning eighteen. Soon afterwards, she received a scholarship
to study in Vienna and Berlin, where she was exposed to jazz, rock and Middle
Eastern music. She returned to Greece in the late 70’s and began working with
the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation. She released 3 collaborative albums
between 1981-1983 and her debut solo album in 1984. ‘G????p’ (‘Gallop’) was
Lena Platonos’ second record that she solely composed, produced and sang. The
record was released in 1985 and paved the way for Greek electronica of the
1990’s. ‘Gallop’ was composed in the wake of a painful separation, and took
several months to complete. Lena says, “It’s a study in the mythology of
urban population of the contemporary metropolis and also a gaze into the
future life of it.” The album is made exclusively using analog synthesizers
and heavily features the iconic Roland TR-808 drum machine. Lena narrates
each song, reciting her own surreal Greek poetry with unique skill. Lyrics
deal with heartbreak, dreams, desires, and astutely predict the way that
computers and technology would infiltrate our society in the years to come |

Harsh Puri, aka Reformed Society, is not new to the club scene.
Since 2015 the London based artist has been releasing numerous records for

by raw textures and hypnotic arrangements, Harsh's sound uniquely crosses the

Following
his debut contribution to the label's catalogue this year via the Midnight
Shift x Voitax ,"Mothership" compilation, (a contribution saw the
artist paired with Veronica Maximova) the Brighton based producer L/F/D/M,
also known as Richard Smith, is the latest to join the catalogue on Voitax.
Having pushed the boundaries of his own music, Smith managed to release an
impressive amount of records throughout the last years and has perpetuated
his sound on cult labels such as Cititrax, Midnight Shift, Optimo Trax,
Ecstatic and Clan Destine Records. The British producer now returns to Voitax
with his "Mutual Autopsy" EP - a strong four-tracker that is
characterised by Smith's undenably grainy lo-fi signature. The whole package
is armed with heavyweight kicks, bloating basslines and crunchy, percussive
patterns, that he perfectly crowns with some memorable and catchy synth
lines. The former art student, as well as one half of Bronze Teeth, shows
once again his ability to modulate his way into the abstract, while keeping
it groovy and warm and firmly secures himself in the ranks with the techno
avant-garde |
