Lubomyr Melnyk is a Ukrainian
pianist and composer. Through his pioneering work in the 1970_s, he developed
the technique of _Continuous Music_ for piano, and with it a stunning new
language for the instrument, based on its actual sound. By way of this new
technique, he set several world/ records on the piano, notably in Sweden in
1985 where he was recorded playing at over 19.5 notes per second _ a speed
that has never yet been matched, making him the fastest pianist in the world.
Since the mid/1970_s, he has performed concerts with his music world/wide as
well as radio recordings. Most of his works are for piano solo and duo,
although there exist several works for orchestra and various ensembles. While
his revolutionary piano playing was mostly ignored by the classical
institutions in its early years, his music is gaining an ever/wider
international awareness. This album features five recent works, that display
the beauty and magic and virtuosity of his playing |

respected pianists in Jazz. Close collaborator of saxophone giants such as
Charlie Parker, Lester Young, and Coleman Hawkins, and member of Miles Davis
classic quintet. 'Solar' consists of a solid quartet session held in NY on
January 30, 1962, and originally released on Jazzland Records in the same
year. Garland's quartet consists of Les Spann on guitar (and flute on two
tracks), Sam Jones on bass, and Frank Grant on drums. A total of eight tunes
split between originals and some underplayed standards such as 'Where Are
You?' and 'The Very Thought of You' |

Dancehall
superstar Beenie Man has enjoyed a career unmatched for its length and
diversity. Born Moses Davis in 1973, he claims to have began toasting on his
uncle's sound system, Master Blaster, at five years old< during his harsh
youth, he became a semi-wild creature of the streets and lived as a near
homeless person, suffering from malnourishment, before music became his
ultimate salvation. His debut recording, "Too Fancy," was produced
by political 'enforcer'-turned-producer, Henry unjo' Lawes, after he won a
popular talent contest where the price was a recording contract, though
nothing much happened with that particular release. Beenie Man recorded his
debut album for hit-making producer Bunny Lee, released as The Invincible
Beany Man, The Incredible Ten Year Old DJ Wonder, while he was already a
steady fixture on Lee's Unlimited, a vintage sound system established in 1968
in Springfield, a small town in the eastern parish of Saint Thomas, and then
one of Jamaica's most prominent sets. On the album, his flow is well-honed,
his chatter sounding entirely skilful and confident, the rhymes flowing from
his mouth with ease and fervour |

COVID-19 pandemic infectiousness
and the relative necessity to put hard distance between people has brought up
a wide range of means to cope with it. For some it went by as nothing
happened, some struggled with not being able to be social, some were overly
social on social medias, some spent it in a total drugged-out haze. Some,
like Leroy se Meurt, used it to actually create something. The 5 tracks
presented in this EP are the result of that forced stay in, the push towards
the outside and the realisation that, in the end, there's nowhere to go. We

Parisian
DJ, Producer and Elixyr Records label boss AIROD returns to Amelie Lens'
Lenske for his third EP on the label. Following 2019's 'Rave Cycle' and
'Voltage' EP's, this year's LP on Molekul and appearances at some of Europe's
most revered clubs and showcases including the EXHALE event series, the
Frenchman has proven himself as a dominant force in today's techno scene.
'Assassin's Walk' welcomes us with rolling kicks and looping sirens
accompanied by foreboding synths that orchestrate a deep sense of tension. As
these fade, explosive drums perturb the peace again with the addition of a
wavering acid line and incessant hi-hats that conjure urgency and pure
exhilaration. Returning to the familiar AIROD sound we've been acquainted
with is 'Topaz', employing pounding kick drums, jolting sirens and an
indiscernible cut up vocal sample to engage listeners into an ambient
delirium. Sharp white noise slices through the resounding beat in a rhythmic
assault after the first drop and characterize the remainder of the track.
Title track Venom is imitative of its name with a malicious crescendo and
striking electro-esque keys |

John
The Postman was, hardly surprisingly, a postman. John and his friends were
regulars at the first punk gigs in Manchester. It was at one such gig in
April 1977 after a few too many drinks that John decided to invade the
Buzzcocks stage, picked up a guitar and decided to terrorise the audience
with his version of the rock standard 'Louie, Louie'. Far from being
murdered, he actually won a few admirers and after a couple more appearances
was actually invited to become the official support to such artists as V2,
The Fall, John Cooper-Clarke and The Drones. Soon John was joined by other
musicians and a band (of sorts) was formed for the live gigs. Things
improved, sometimes they got paid for appearing! Flushed with success and
beer money, it was inevitable that John would sell out and release a record
on Manchester's Bent Records. So in Feb. 1978 John and fifteen other
musicians got drunk and headed into Pennine Studios in Oldham to record their
debut mini album 'Puerile'. The introduction to the album was by Mark E.
Smith of The Fall and was his debut appearance on vinyl. The album was
released in a brown paper bag (to look like a letter) and sold an impressive
10,000 copies. In need of more beer money, John and ten musicians went to
Cargo Studios in Rochdale on Sunday, 10th October 1978 and in a few hours
completed his second album |

hardcore attacks with sheer force or repetitive brutality, PERMISSION's riffs
whip back and forth like loose firehose, and though there may be some
spiritual ancestors in the likes of weirder, more discomfiting ends of 80s
hardcore like DIE KREUZEN or MECHT MENSCH, PERMISSION's angle of attack,
their style of itchy marshalled chaos, unpredictable yet never disjointed, is

DJ, producer Tom Wax is back at Bonzai, presenting his famous Microbots
persona and the superb Cosmic Evolution which will feature remixes from CJ
Bolland, Drumcomplex and Tom himself. First released in 1992 on Chip I as
K.O.-Mix, the track got a reissue in 1998 in its original form and is hailed
as a fine example of the harder edged trance/techno sound of the era. Tom has
been a leading figure in the electronic music scene since 1988, he has
inspired a lot of artists around the world with his unique sound. After more
than 25 years behind the decks he is still on a mission as he releases tracks
on labels such as Great Stuff, Toolroom, Bush, Bonzai Progressive and more.
At the height of the European techno and trance era, Tom was responsible for a
vast number of classics under his Arpeggiators, Microbots and DJ Tom &
Norman guises. His tracks found their home on R&S, Harthouse and
Overdrive Records. He partnered with Thorsten Adler and found international
fame with It's Our Future on Plastic City. Cosmic Evolution will be cut onto
grey 12” vinyl with a limited-edition marbled version for the collectors |

from our own Archive of recordings that either have never been issued or that
have never been issued on the Alleviated imprint. After many years of being
"on-the-shelf" we are extremely pleased to share these with the
public. First up, we have a selection that was being considered for the
"Another Side" (Fingers, Inc.) album that features Ron Wilson
free-styling vocals to a deep-house vibe. To this day, we are not quite sure
why this selection was not included on the project but are pleased to finally
share it. Next up we have "Electronic Debris" delivering a
"mellow-deep" vibe. Then we have "Saspence" with, as the
title implies, a "mysterious-deep-minimal house" feel. Concluding
the EP is "Nyte Light" delivering a "deep-ambient-acid"
flavor. We sincerely hope that you enjoy these selections at the club and at

revisits his releases for the dearly departed Blackest Ever Black with a
‘Tongue Box’ of remastered and restructured versions bearing the toned muscle
and darkroom workshop atmospheres found in his 2020 debut album ‘Hidden In
This Is The Light That Makes You’ The set sees Regis return to a point when
his sound had fully shifted from brittle, loopy bangers to a more sensuous,
serpentine style embracing space and subbass, in a vital new mutation of UK industrial body
musicks that acknowledged influence from techstep D&B as much as dark
ambient and gothic sound design styles. Restructured versions of Regis’
modern classics, the T++-like broken roller ‘Blood Witness’ from the ‘In A
Syrian Tongue’ 12”, and the snarling post-punk techno swagger of ‘Blinding
Horses’ lead to the NIN-like beat-less scape of ‘Blinding Horses (Stable By
Mix)’ - exclusive to the set - while he performs back-alley dentistry on the
gnashing 16th note arp fangs of ‘Manbait’ with lacerating effect, beside the
haunted romantic chamber string sentiments of ‘The Solution’ which could
almost come from some Derek Jarman soundtrack, and 2014’s ‘Masterside’

Returning
after a six-month break, Truesoul delivers a pair of uplifting cuts from Bart
Skils, marking his debut on Drumcode’s little brother imprint. One of
Drumcode most consistent contributors, Bart Skils also knows his way around a
melodic lead better than most. With this is in mind, it’s difficult to
believe this is the first sighting we’ve had of the Dutchman’s productions on
Truesoul. ‘My Rules’ was created during lockdown with the specific intent to
brighten the lives of the techno faithful. Both compositions were inspired by
the type of tracks Skils would typically use to build his sets during longer
sessions, when tension-and-release dynamics are deployed with aplomb. The
title track comprises a wiggly bassline running alongside a skilfully arranged
vocal hook, while tiny flashes of melody amplify the atmosphere. ‘Cruising
Waves’ is marked by a hypnotic groove and a meditative vocal loop before a
ball-tearing industrial synth-line rips through the bottom end at regular
intervals throughout the second half of the piece |

As
part of the emerging alternative rock/post-punk movement, Proxies was formed
around 1978-79 in Thessaloniki, Greece, by Dimitrios Bitzenis (guitar),
Jiannis Nastas (bass), George Pavlidis (lead singer), Manolis Trihakis
(keyboards), and Lazaros Pliampas (drums). This formation got very well known
locally by playing covers of Roxy Music, Talking Heads, Magazine, Devo,
Television, Stranglers and other New wave bands. When Pavlidis left Greece,
Nastas also left Proxies to form his own band, thus leaving Bitzenis behind
as the new lead singer, guitarist and synth player, Trihakis on synth and
bass, and with Pliampas still on acoustic drums. That formation almost got an
contract with EMI but Xristos Vatseris (RIP), owner of the independent
Thessaloniki based record company CVR, took Proxies under his wings so that
they could keep control over their work. Eventually - in 1983 - their debut
album 'Groovin' over Beirut' was released, recorded at the CVR studio
together with engineer Kostas Kosmatopoulos (RIP). Bitzenis and Trihakis then
went to the UK to study and almost got signed to Virgin Records who loved
their music. Unfortunately they had to return to Greece to do their military
service and the dream was over. In 1984, Pliampas left the band and the
second album 'Eastern Side of Love' was released. It featured a cover of the
traditional Greek song 'Fishing Boat' which became a huge hit and made
Proxies a well-known name all over Greece. Trihakis eventually left the group
due to not agreeing to the musical direction Proxies was about to pursue. In
1991, Bitzenis released a new album together with his cousin Nikos Bitzenis
(who later formed the band Mikro and co-founder of Undo Records), and a final
album together with Marina Jele in 1994 before Proxies went quiet. This
re-issue features a bonus LP with six previously unreleased tracks recorded
between 1982 and 1985 |

THE DESK OF MIX-O-RAP :I wrote this album in prison. I went to the music room
every week to play on their keyboards. I studied different styles of beat
patterns and sound recording to be a recording engineer. I wanted to create
this new sound, so I took go-go, hip-hop, house, and drum and bass to blend
up a new pattern of beats with a DJ sway. So I rapped on it. I need a perfect
mix sound so I used a reverb gate, small room because I was in a small room.
I used my moms blankets to trap the sound waves in the room. I use a digital
mic from radio shack and was rapping with a blanket over my head to trap the
sound waves. I played my keys in F flat to deepen the tone. I put tom toms on
it to fill the spaces with handclaps to have that snap. Then I put a reverb
gate on every instrument to get the lo-fi audio sound. I mastered it with all
knobs on zero. Equalizer on zero. I mastered my own sound by tweeking and
listening with cheap headphones. So that's why I call myself Mix-0-Rap
because I master my mix and DJ rap style with a touch go-go rapping. Thank

Middle
of the Road Less Travelled' is not only the debut release by Michal Turtle on
Light of Other Days, it is also his first new material released since the
amazing reissues put out by Music From Memory in recent years. The three
tracks on this EP were written and produced by Michal in 2017 with additional
production and guitar playing by Light of Other Days' very own HOVE. The two
met back in 2016 when HOVE contacted Michal after he heard the 12' «Are you
Psychic» and was blown away. As it turned out Michal was living in Basel
which is only a short train ride away by train from the Light of Other Days
home base in Zurich. The two started meeting and playing music together. Soon
after, they put together a live-show for Michal's music which had its debut
show at Phono Festival in Denmark in 2017. During this time, they started
working on new music together as well. The result is this EP. The music on
'Middle of the Road Less Travelled' is a continuation of Michal's musical
exploration into other-worldly territory. Michal is a master in building
hypnotic textures from repetitive rhythms that collide with trippy and
atmospheric synthesizers |

Ryota
O.P.P aka Ryota Arai delivers his debut album 'Pale Lux' for Meda Fury. Ryota
is based in Tokyo - at the nexus of the Japanese house / future disco scene,
alongside cohorts such as Cos/Mes, Inoue Shirabe, and KZA he blends eastern
mysticism, jazz spirituality, and cosmic disco with classic 4:4 rhythms. A
highly respected DJ, promoter and producer the opaque discoid-stomp of his

begins. The newly founded label is curated by Swiss artists Isolated Lines,
known for his edgy and razor sharp productions (on Tommy Four Seven's 47,
among others), and Gaspard de la Montagne, who has been perfecting his
sculptural and curiously optimistic vision of techno through his EPs on
Creaked. SBR001 is a well-rounded compilation from their inner circle
spanning from Grime over Raw House to Techno. The opening transmission is
from La Vie C'est Facile: A colourful and unpredictable, broken-beat cut that
fuses elements of instrumental grime and hip-hop with a striking melody and
spacious production. Gaspard De La Montagne (as GDLM) takes a more direct
approach: His track builds slowly with a swing to the beat, leaving cavernous
bass reverberations and stretched out, droning pads to pull you further in.
Isolates Lines' 'Lift' picks up where the A-side left off, mining a similar
groove to GDLM's 'Larson' to equally stirring effect. The drums skip around a
rubbery bassline as the track phases with sleight of hand progressions |

Interchain's 'Plenum' remains as
one of the most captivating HVNX releases. Composed of a series of sketches
based on the duo's childhood memories of Perestroika in the USSR, the album
epitomizes the idea behind the sub-label of releasing projects with a strong
conceptual weight and a distinct aesthetic universe. In a way, it makes
perfect sense that it occupies the central place of the catalog. Now comes
its appendix in form of a remix package that brings together Kate NV, John

'Plenum' tracks from their personal angles while cultivating the same kind of

joins Queeste with who do u love?, an EP of fractious songs recorded over a
tumultuous four-month period in Los Angeles. Having debuted in 2018 with a
set of club contortions touching on jungle and 2-step, the US artist returns
with a work of intense self-reflection. Lived experiences are transmuted into
an amorphous bricolage of pummelling kicks, synthetic textures, and diaristic
details, what they describe as an act of "remembrance." Working and
living in LA, the "grind" alongside "aspirational
partying," and the confrontation of depression during an intense
relationship, informs the EP on levels both sonic and thematic. The slippery
rhythm and melodic stabs of 'the way you see yourself' embodies a state of
flux, also recalling the early experiments of the LA beat scene. Distant jazz
drumming fills its peaceful coda before 'everythingUneverKnewUwanted'
introduces an echo lifted directly from the artist's life: a trickling
courtyard fountain. This first phase of the release finds resolution with
'thewayothersseeyou,' a conceptual mirror to its start, and one which carries
a notable shift in tone; gleaming percussion has given way to ominous synths |
