Hello
everybody. We are very happy to present a new series of releases in vinyl,
called the Pattern Series. This series will consist of translucent pressings
with specially designed artwork, and the first number "Vertigo"
will feature three tracks from label boss Oscar Mulero. On the A-side, the
main track is "Epley Manoeuvre", with funky components, solid drums
and a repetitive synth workout which is reminiscent of classic Regis-style
bleeps. This one is aimed directly for the floor. On the B-side there are two
other cuts. First comes "Gravity" flanged sequences on an hypnotic
vein, sharp shaker driven percussions and a subtle but fat kick drum spiced
with white noise details and 909 snares. Closing the B-side we find "Particle
Repositioning", which starts with a round kick drum and bleepy one bar
sequences that are soon spiced with claps and reverb. A second percussive
sequence appears after some bars, starting a rhythmic conversation until the
shuffled hats and rides complete the beat. Three abstract pieces of modern
techno but with a solid step into tradition |

Hanagasumi - hazy curtain of
flowers, cherry blossoms appearing from afar like a white mist - this
phenomenon can be seen during the sakura blossom in Japan. Introducing the
second Hanagasumi release from Shine Grooves. This time the release has a
slightly different sound character. The first side is minimalist and abstract
rhythms filled with twisty synth sequences, seasoned with house sauce and
stringy keyboards. The second side has an ambient mood. The first 2 tracks
contain soft synth parts and melodies, which are supported by broken rhythms
and magical percussion. The final track in the release is reminiscent of the
minimal and glitch house of the early 2000s, which will allow you to immerse

Delroy
Wilson was one of the best/beloved vocalists in the history of reggae. Born
in 1948 in the infamous slum of Trench Town, Wilson is regarded as Jamaica's
first child star, having signed a contract with future Studio One founder,
Clement ir Coxsone' Dodd, at the
tender age of thirteen. Wilson was blessed with a mellifluous voice and his
strong range and expressive tone made him a natural for recording< equally
excellent with originals and able to make any cover tune his own, young
Delroy made an impact from the start. Early singles "Emy Lou" and
"If I Had A Beautiful Baby" were jaunty ska love songs, yet much of
Wilson's most significant early work took the form of recorded taunts aimed
at Coxsone's rivals, most notably Prince Buster, the target of "I Shall
Not Remove" and "Joe Liges." Debut album I Shall Not Remove
caused a sensation on release in 1964 and as Jamaican music evolved in the
mid/60s the hits kept coming> reconfiguring The Tams' "Dancing
Mood" as a cool rock steady seemed to define the genre, while "Here
Comes A Heartache" and "Never Conquer Me" were among the more
sizeable hits |

from 2017. In the other hand, there's an incredible rendition of cult Finnish
masters FUNEBRE and the classic "Grip Of Insanity,", the song that
closes "Children Of The Scorn" from 1991. And if that's not enough,
the EP ends with a live version of "Indhentet Af Doden" from their
2010 debut with the same title. All in all, a great appetizer for new

Russian no wave / synth duo The
Bleak Engineers seem a neat fit with the first 12" release from Rotation
Mecanique. "Unconscious" is the song that resonated in many souls

band, whose members are worth of attention: the grey eminence of the Russian

Ronnie
Davis is another mighty Jamaican singer, whose talents have been greatly
overlooked. His rootsy yet soulful voice have been in demand by many of
Jamaica's producers, and have graced their catalogues over the decades, yet
outside of the close reggae circles he has remained a closely guarded secret.
Born Ronnie Davis, in 1950 (Savannah La Mar, Jamaica). His singing career
began in the 1960's and like many aspiring young singers, the Talent contests
taking part around the Island, was his first introduction to the music scene.
This led to him joining the vocal group, 'The Tenors'. Who shortly after his arrival, released
their debut 'The Whole World is a Stage'. This was the beginning of a run of
Jamaican 7'' releases that did quite well in the domestic marketplace. But
Ronnie had set his sights on a solo career,which came to fruition in the
early 1970's, with two big hits for him in the guise of 'Won't You Come Home'
and 'Stop Yu Loofing'. Running on through to the mid 1970's with such hits as
'Jah Jah Jehovah','Forget Me Now', 'On and On' and 'Babylon Falling'.
Building up to the 1976 classic, 'It's Raining'. Around this time Ronnie's
path would cross with Keith Porter and with his childhood friend Roy Smith
they would form one of Jamaica's foremost vocal groups 'The Itals'. A group who would run until the 1990's and
evolve into 'Ronnie Davis and Idren'. Ronnie's releases are very sort after
among the reggae aficionados and any tune carrying his vocal talents rarely
disappoint. We have compiled some rare roots dubs to many of his finest cuts.
Such gems as 'Chasing You', 'What You See is What You Get', his take on the
timeless cut 'Tribal War', 'Tell You' and the a fore mentioned smash 'It's

Berlin
based techno titan Frank Muller adopts his Beroshima alias for a new four
track EP that is already been hailed by the likes of Marcel Dettman and
Laurent Garnier. First emerging in the nineties, Muller has since become a
techno great who has played from Asia to South America and beyond. He's had
plenty of underground hits on the likes of Cocoon and Soma, and held some key
residencies over the years. Always one to command your attention with his
multi layered grooves, this EP features an old Juan Atkins sample Buy some
shit from Detroit' that has been part of Beroshima's live sets for years.
Excellent opener 'Encounter' reflects a recent idea Jeff Mills and Muller had
to produce tracks together for a not yet produced sci-fi movie. It is an
eight-minute astral techno trip with smooth, driving drums and plenty of
intergalactic synth lines. 'The Passion of Lovers' transfers the organic
Beroshima style into 2018 and shows off Frank's passion for spaced out
electronica. It's a brilliantly bumping cut with lithe synths and melodies
adding that soul and colour as it races through the galaxies. The iconic 'Buy
Some' with the Atkins sample then surges into the future with icy hi hats
dancing over rubbery drums. The warped synths take the lead and bring a real
sense of off kilter energy to this most timeless bit of techno. Last of all
is the fantastic Space Mix of 'Encounter' which is dreamy and cinematic with
exquisite keys and pads colouring in a huge night sky as the drums drive
things along.

sharp. Oscar Mulero is the mind behind this creature, offering three cuts of
merciless techno exercises both physically and digitally. Opening track is
"Tormenta", Storm in spanish, a fast paced groove with almost all
elements up from the very beginning. Wisely distorted drums, continuous
filtered sequences, a sharp elastic line running and mutating across the
structure. Direct and mental at the time. "Espectro Rojo", Red spectrum
translated begins with obsessive distorted evolving lines, shuffled hi hats
and precise kicks. The stereo field is constantly worked out augmenting the
experience exponentially. "Gradiente de Voltaje" closes the EP, the
overall feel is less distorted and more opaque and lo-fi. The liquid filtered

was a year full of celebrations for Nicolas Duvoisin. Not only did his label
Fantastic Friends turn 10, he also celebrated his 20 years of career as a
DJ/Producer and, last but not least, he experienced the joys of becoming a
father for the first time. It was clearly this powerful emotional context
that pushed Nicolas Duvoisin to work on a more substantial project, exploring
wider horizons and stepping out of his comfort zone. “Mon Premier” is
definitely a testament to the artist’s maturity and courage, displaying more
sensitivity and intimacy than what the usual club night behind the decks
generally allows. Nicolas took the freedom to let his inspiration bring him
into unknown territories, working without a particular framework, style or
label in mind and starting from scratch for each track of the album. The
challenge was also to experiment with new writing approaches and techniques,
in order to lose some of the methods and habits many artists get trapped into
at certain points in their careers. The result is an eclectic collection of
sounds, moving through dub, ambient, minimal and house, patiently put
together in Nicolas’ studio near Lausanne, away from the frenzy of the

"Cathedral"
is a radical experience of listening and investigating the possibilities of
the saxophone. Christian Kobi is one of the leading names on the improv scene
in Bern, Switzerland. His work includes collaborations with Phill Niblock,
Jürg Frey, Taku Sugimoto, and Keith Rowe. His new album,
"Cathedral", closes a trilogy for saxophone solo that started with
"Canto" (2010) and "r a w l i n e s" (2013), and which
was recorded in the former Swisscom high-bay warehouse - probably the largest
underground space in Bern. That space serves Christian as a place of
exploration of sound, silence and action in space. "Cathedral" is
an extensive piece that is built from the articulation of discrete blocks of
sounds that allow us to enter a new listening universe proposed by Kobi, as
they seek to amplify a range of microtextures, feedbacks, mysterious extended
techniques, whispers and passages where sound is a pure, dramatic, and vague
exhalation in an empty space. Kobi uncovers a wide range of sounds, which he
extracts from the instrument in a singular sonic monologue, making

Next
in the compiler hotseat for seminal mix series ‘Back to Mine’ is the
legendary DJ and producer Fatboy Slim. Having sold over 10 million records
and embarked on a number of sold out arena tours, the esteemed record
collector and all round great selector delves deep into his weighty
collection at his home to create a heady journey of funk and soul. The
collection opens with Dave Barker & Ansell Collins ‘Monkey Spanner’ – a
reggae single released in 1971 from the Kingston based duo working for the
infamous producer Lee “Scratch” Perry. There are a few rare finds, Donal
Leace ‘Today Won’t Come Again’, Wind ‘Grooving With Mr Bloe’ and George Rene
‘Smokey Joe’s La La’. And the most recognisable for many no doubt is Betty
Chung’s 1968 classic ‘Bang Bang’ thanks to the vocals of the Nancy Sinatra
cover being sampled in the Audio Bullys rework in 2005. The 1975 classic
‘Take Yo Praise’ from Camille Yarborough which Fatboy Slim used to sample the
iconic ‘Praise You’ in 1998 is found in the first half of the mix, and not
forgetting his group Beats International, which Norman sampled lyrics from
the featured track ‘Jam Hot’ by Johnny Dynell for ‘Dub Be Good To Me’. A
track that became the best-selling single in the UK in 1990. And last but not
least, two new and exclusive tracks ‘Fatboy Slim & Roland Clark ‘Sunset
303’ (If You Believe) and ‘The Voice Of Experience’ under his Yum Yum Head
Food alias, known for producing his more ambient tunes including ‘Bird Of
Prey’. Fatboy Slim delivers an amazing selection of tracks which give us all
a little sneak peek into the vibes generated from years of meaningful
memories for this ‘Back To Mine’ series. From his house to yours, listening
pleasure is guaranteed. “Over the years there has been so much action back at
mine, so many friends, lovers and lunatics who would congregate after the
clubs had closed to laugh, share and swap ideas and tunes and generally put
the world to rights… this is a collection from the soundtrack of those
sessions” - Fatboy Slim The first volume of Back To Mine by Nick Warren was
released in February 1999 and it went on to include editions by Groove

For
the first release, Anetha is inviting the talented Sugar from Fast Forward
Productions based in Copenhagen, and her good friend ABSL from Paris. MTY 001
features two original tracks produced by Sugar and ABSL themselves, and two
other ones co-produced with Anetha. More than just “club ready” productions,
every track is built like a story that you can also enjoy peacefully at home.
Each piece is long enough to allow you to go through different states of
feeling, atmospheres, and even be surprised by the evolution and new elements
of the tracks. In the A1 « Et le soleil ne vint pas » by ABSL, a tension is
created and evolves for several minutes with a sustained and crunchy rhythm
that keeps the listener in suspense. Later, the emergence of a dazzling and
sparkling melody come to break this infernal cadence and give some space and
light. In the end, darkness definitely takes over to crush the last ray of
sunshine. ABSL & Anetha blends hypnotic moment and percussive techno
drums in the A2 called “Elles”. The heady and repetitive voice plays a
leading role between the different parts and finally gives way to let smooth
and evocative synths appear |

Ten tracks that are born from the combination of historical, mystical and current

its existence due to behaviour and the consequences that derive from such
actions. The dark, hard and energetic rhythms of the album narrate the
coexistence of diverse human values throughout history, from peace to war,

third offering of 2020 welcomes Ivory back to the label for a new EP. Based
in Milan, Italian artist Daniel Tagliaferri aka Ivory brings a surreal beauty
to his innovative brand of electronic composition. As a perpetual favourite
of Adriatique, Ame, Dixon, Lehar, Tale Of Us, Toto Chiavetta and Trikk, Ivory
made his microcastle debut in July of last year with ‘No Scale Can Resize

Crown Records is proud to present Ekundayo, Liam Bailey’s debut record on the
label. This album is a long time in the making, and after listening, clearly
worth the wait. It didn’t take a long time to record, but it did take years
for all the stars to line up. Bailey, born and raised in Nottingham, England,
the son of an English mother and Jamaican father got his early influences
from his mom’s record collection. Bob Marley and Dillinger, Stevie Wonder and
The Supremes, The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix would eventually shape the
singer/songwriter we know today. Fast-forward to 2005, Liam is in London and
doing the whatever-gig-you-can-get musician hustle with hopes of landing a
record deal. And it was through this time that Liam first teamed up with Leon
Michels, musician / producer luminary, and the co-founder of Brooklyn's own
Big Crown Records. Liam flew out to New York and those first sessions
together produced the now classic tunes “When Will They Learn” and “I’m Gonna
Miss You” which still get spins at reggae spots around the globe. That trip
helped kick off what was to follow next for Liam: a slew of record releases,
label deals, and working with some wildly-notable mainstream producers. Even
a just-famous Amy Winehouse heard one of Liam's apartment-made, lo-fi
recordings through a friend and liked what she heard. Regardless of the audio
quality, Liam's particular sound shone through—all guitar, warm-rough and
genuine soul. She signed him to her label shortly after. But, as the story
can go with major labels, they already had an idea of the Liam they wanted to
make, promote, and push. With the typical pay-day enticement, Liam did his
best to fit into whatever shape they put him to. "'Maybe I can make it
work,' that's what you're thinking," Liam remembers, "but, you
quickly find out that you can't." |
