When
you find DJ Sotofett and Telephones on remix duties for the mighty Joan
Bibiloni it's sure to be a treat. For the 22nd installment in the Saft
series, two of Bibiloni's greatest numbers from "Born" (1989), are
re-imagined for the occasion. Sotofett opens up the A-side with an extended
version of Bibiloni's "El Sur". Clocking in just under twelve
minutes, the so-called "mastermix" is a version in the vein of the
extended disco singles from the era of the original. Sotofett's supernatural
dancefloor touch centers around Bibiloni's guitar-licks that gently slide
along and communicate with the other elements of the original. This is a
version to close a night with - or better yet - to close a summer set just
before sundown. The B-side contains a reworked version of "Sa
Fosca" by another Norwegian artist: Telephones. "Telephones Coastal
Dub", is another lengthy endeavor. The ten (and something) minutes long
venture keeps in line with the Mallorcan character of the Bibiloni sound,
while giving it a subtle touch of dancefloor, complete with the signature
lead of the original as the focal point |

Nino Lepore hails from South
Italy, and is best known for his self-titled LP from 1986, as well as for his
uncredited work on Dancer Record. The 'Chok Musik' 12" from Best Record
Italy focuses on two productions from his sole LP, and in the titular track,
sexualized funk basslines join a disco drum strut, as guitar riffs shimmer
and brass and string orchestrations swirl deliriously between filmic romance
and symphonic madness. And after a breakdown into percussive chaos, smooth
piano solos alternate with passages of sizzling sax. As for "Bad
Time," an introduction of decaying gongs leads to a broken beat groove,
with strings evoking atmospheres of exotic noir and horns soloing softly over
subdued funk bass motions and distant flashes of guitar. There are jazz rock
breakdowns into liquid riffing and flamboyant brass, and during handclap
climaxes, horns swell towards the sky |

Detroit-born trumpeter Donald
Byrd was one of the most expressive players of the instrument. Recording for
leading jazz labels such as Savoy and Blue Note from the late 50s, he
collaborated with Cannonball Adderly, Lee Morgan, John Coltrane and Herbie Hancock.
The 1962 Blue Note release 'The Cat Walk' was a critical success, most songs

singer Screaming Lord Sutch (originally released in 1970) featured the
heavyweight talent of Jimmy Page (who also produced it), John Bonham, Jeff

the Legacy" is the first EP to be released in early September 2020 on
the Berlin Techno Label INHERIT. The four-track release spotlights two
original tracks from the founders of INHERIT Daniel Heinrich & Disguised
as well as two remixes by MORBECK & YA. The original tracks "Awaken
the Legacy" & "Power" perfectly demonstrate why Daniel
Heinrich & Disguised decided to take their collaboration to the next
level and to found INHERIT at the beginning of 2020. The sound of both
original tracks is straightforward and shakes your body to a melodic mix of
trance tunes combined with hard drum sessions. MORBECK from Berlin, founder
of "Code is Law" & "Low Life Club" brings with his
first and unique driving remix a death melody interpretation of
"Power" to the EP. The re-mix stands out with a playful and
forward-driving rhythm and can be called the most danceable track on the EP.
YA from Paris, founder of Mainmise Records and Pulse perfectly completes the
first release with his remix of "Awaken the Legacy'. His typical YA
sound, as well as the mix of trance & hard techno elements, energizes you

could say we are excited about our new release here at Hizou Music. Very
excited. Because with out heart and soul rooted in the heritage, history and
tradition of house music we are especially proud to welcome two producers
into the fold whose pedigrees match our vision perfectly, Chicago's very own
Brian Harden and Ellery Cowles (aka Wavelength). Aptly entitled The
Collective, the EP features three cuts from Cowles and one from Harden. The
former first came to the attention of dance music lovers via a slew of
high-octane techno releases back in the nineties, notably for the
Djax-Up-Beats imprint. Although having clearly mellowed since those early
days, on the evidence of his trio here Cowles has lost nothing of his power
and drive even if the emphasis has now shifted more to melody, mood and the
funk. Fierce, sassy and outrageously uplifting is the only way to describe
paean to 'my man', Joy Of My Life. The Power is similarly brash and bold
though lyrically darker, whilst Jazz Juice is a fantastically punchy
percussion-drive workout |

punk hit the surfer town of HuntingTon Beach, southeast of Los Angeles, like
a gnarly wave. Shattered Faith are among the most revered of the groups to
surface from her shores, co-founder Kerry Martinez and early member Goblin
both from the Latino community. This indispensable collection gathers all six
tracks from their renowned Poshboy session of 1981 that yielded the classic

Hailing
from Fresno, CA, NBJ have been one of the best kept secrets of American punk
rock. Known for their shocking name and the anarchist anthem "Dead
Porker" (included in 1982 within the Alternative Tentacles
cult-compilation "Not So Quiet On The Western Front", first and
last release during their brief career), they featured the late great Annelle
Zingarelli as one of the wildest female vocalist of Californian hardcore>
a hoarse screamer hunting like Siouxsie Sioux, piercing like Poly Styrene,
filthy as Lydia Lunch, poetical as Exene Cervenka. Their music, influenced by
peers such as Germs and Flipper, was a blend of savage rock'n'roll and darker
Black Sabbath-like doom marches. They shared the stage with kindred spirits
like Black Flag, Minor Threat and Circle Jerks and were a Jello Biafra
favorite. This Lp puts together the best tracks from their only demo (roughly
recorded in 1983 and never released due to the tragic passing of the 22 years
old Annelle), including a furious cover of Monkees' classic "Last Train
To Clarksville" and all the energy of this talented and unlucky band |

Floating
Points' personal collection of global soul, ambient, jazz and folk treasures
form the latest in the warmly revered Late Night Tales series. Sam Shepherd
aka Floating Points' music taste is notoriously tricky to define, ranging
from ethereal classical at one end to coruscating techno at the other, united
only in a firm belief in the transcendental power of music to move hearts,
minds and - yes - feet. Similarly, his production career has ranged from
early experiments in dance music with breakout records such as the 'Shadows
EP' and collaborating with legendary Gnawa master Mahmoud Guinia to his
expansive album 'Elaenia', which met with critical acclaim upon its release
in 2015. This Late Night Tales excursion into the depths of the evening reflects
his broad tastes. The globally-travelled producer has collected untold
treasures on his travels from dusty stores in Brazil to market stalls near
his hometown. There's the gorgeous 'Via Làctea', culled from Carlos Walker's
debut album, Abu Talib's (Bobby Wright) plaintive 'Blood Of An American' and
Robert Vanderbilt's gospel reworking of Manchild's 'Especially For You'. Raw
soul and feeling oozing from each song's pores. At the other end of the music
scale are the modernists, such as Québécoise Kara-Lis Coverdale who weighs in
with the indelible 'Moments In Love', Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith whose 'Milk' is
an exercise in tranquility, while Sarah Davachi's meditative mix-opener
offers respite from a weary world. We have some exclusive tracks for Late Night
Tales; alongside Davachi's offerings there is also Toshimaru Nakamura's 'Nimb
#59', as well as the now traditional cover version. hepherd delved into his
childhood memory for this one, a track taken from the first album his parents
bought him, Kenny Wheeler's 'Music For Large & Small Ensembles': Sam
offers up his interpretation of 'Opening Part 1'. Wheeler also contributes
horns to Azimuth track The Tunnel, written and performed by Norma Winstone
and John Taylor who, coincidentally, are the parents of Floating Points'
drummer Leo Taylor. Closing the album, Lauren Laverne reads the suitably
nocturnal poem 'Ah! Why, Because The Dazzling Sun' by Emily Brontë. 'I tried
to find music that reflects the stillness of night. And because my musical
interests lie all over the place, it's quite difficult to distil that notion
down to just a few songs. I was quite keen to have some electronic music in
there but I also really wanted to have some soul music mixed in, so I had to

Christian Smith returns for his
first solo release on Drumcode since 2016, re-contextualising a classic vocal
work. The Sweden-born journeyman has been friends with Adam Beyer since dot
one. In the rare instances he has released outside his own label Tronic,
Drumcode has received the fruits of his studio labour. Besides the recent
contribution to this year’s A-Sides Vol.9 compilation, we haven’t seen a
stand-alone Drumcode release from Smith in four years, when his excellent
‘Force Majeure’ stood as one of the year’s label highlights. ‘Your Lovin’’ is
his fifth release on DC, taking inspiration from a ‘90s D&B classic.
Driven by a Minimoog bassline and hypnotic arpeggios, Smith, a renowned
perfectionist, made six versions before settling on the final cuts. The
original is stripped back and searing, perfect for late night moments as
restrained vocal grabs add colour to the techno palette. The ‘Ombi Dub’ is a
straight-up propulsive tool that hits you straight between the eyes |

and Victor Ruiz link for their maiden collaborative EP. The project begun in
the first quarter of the year when the artists were still touring and was
later completed during a series of productive sessions after lockdown
Pig&Dan members Dan Duncan and Igor Tchkotoua experiencing a creative
synergy with close friend Victor Ruiz that injected some lightness into an
otherwise challenging time for the trio of producers. ‘Consciousness’ is
driven by a catch low-end riff that’s powerful and funky in equal measures
and is a particular favourite of Adam Beyer’s, highlighting the boss’
Drumcode Indoors II and Tomorrowland’s United Through Music stream. ‘Music
Takes You’ is a delicious low-end roller driven by a punchy synth workout
that drops down into a captivating vocal break made for big moments.

needs no introduction, a truly mesmeric and highly sought after warehouse
anthem. The previously unreleased 'Labyrinthe' (Raw Mix) keeps up the
pressure. Retaining the heavyweight sub-bass, this mix heads off into a
sparser world of machine made funk and rave inducing stabs, whilst skittish

Network’s
30th Anniversary celebrations continue with the re-issue of the debut release
from the iconic label. The launch of the logo with Neal Howard “Indulge” in
1990 caused a sensation, with the track being instantly acclaimed as a
Classic, and Network noted as a new label to watch. “Indulge” hails from
Chicago, but sounds like its’ DNA is Techno City Detroit. A futuristic call
to dance from Windy City mystery man Neal Howard, whose previous releases
“The Gathering” and “To Be Or Not To Be” had already reached cult status.
Those gems, and “Indulge” were recorded by Chicago label Phuture Sound. Plans
were being laid for the transformation the Kool Kat label - the UK outlet for
Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May and Juan Atkins - into Network, but the dilemma
was finding something “really really special” for the first release. That
search for the perfect beat ended when Network’s Neil Rushton on a visit to
Chicago heard the just mixed “Indulge” on a cassette played by Phuture Sound
boss Terry Baldwin, who after prolonged negotiations agreed to cancel a USA
release so the new UK label could have an exclusive |

Presenting
the long sought after, groundbreaking and classic 1990 UK long-player finally
remastered and reissued for 2018. London's Warriors Dance label was a unique
operation and a pioneering London label during the late 80's acid house
phenomena. Home to an assortment of DJs, MCs and soundmen, they went on to
make their own original and indelible mark on the rave scene from the
infamous 'Addis Ababa' studio on Harrow Road on the North-West side of the
city. A former reggae and soul studio that was instrumental to the output of
influential artists like Soul II Soul and more, a steady diet of reggae,
bass, hip-hop, house and techno kept their edgy, and die hard UK sound and
style right at the cutting edge of the dance music underground across the
globe with the top DJs and producers of the day celebrating the label. The
studio, helmed by label owner Tony 'Addis', acted as an incubator for artists
whose names would go down in the history books - No Smoke, Bang The Party,
The Addis Posse, Melancholy Man, Hollywood Beyond, The Housemaids and more
all featured heavily on the label and contributed to its legendary output.
The attitude and approach to the music was utterly and unapologetically a
London thing, with heavy African and Caribbean influences also drawing on the
sounds emanating from Chicago, Detroit and further afield. Years later, and
with the advent of the internet, Discogs, Youtube and any other digital
platform you'd care to mention, Warriors Dance continues to be discovered and
rediscovered again by curious diggers and music heads with a thirst for
heavyweight tracks to play in their DJ sets |

This new LP from SanIsidro, aka
Isidro Rubio de Valencia (formerly of VENEREANS and garage legends WAU y los
ARRRGHS!!!) is both of those things to an almost shockingly large degree.
Depending on your state of mind when you listen to it, you might feel like
browsing at a surreal bazaar in Morocco or Tunisia, or walking into the Last
Chance Saloon with tumbleweeds tumbling behind you. Or perhaps you're on the
Balearic Islands watching the waves rush in. Then the next thing you know,
you-re having your mind rearranged by the music and light show at a San
Francisco ballroom circa 1967. Cinematic elements evocative of Nino Rota,
Angelo Badalamenti and Gustavo Santaolalla also come to mind, as do the
deeply progressive "New Flamenco" manifestoes of Lole y Manuel.
This could be considered quite a stretch coming from an artist whose main
influence is the traditional folk music of the Mediterranean, with its tales
of the woes of shepherds and farmers, or concern with the psychological
development of a child's mind |

Re-Touched Series has delivered other 5 gems to collect with the Vol.IV! The
result is brilliant thanks to the contribution of great artists such as Radio
Slave, Honey Dijon, Mark Broom, Adriana Lopez and Shlomi Aber. When it comes
to Radio Slave, no one can ever remain indifferent to the quality of Matt
Edwards' production. Once again it has hit the mark by re-interpreting
"Inside" by Gaetano Parisio in a masterly way. The track is a
continuous crescendo but always well anchored to its original groove. The
great British producer, Mark Broom, once again leaves no doubt about his
ability to create real dace-floor killers. Seems that his edit was created to
challenge the sound systems of all clubs around the world. It is the dream of
all DJs to play a track of such impact during a party. His version remains
faithful to the original but it has that broomish which makes it super
catching. Honey Dijon, an absolute star in the world techno firmament, makes
her debut on Conform with her Re Rub interpretation of a classic like Dual Ep
by C&G Southsystem, the project created by Gaetano Parisio and Marco

Sneaker's
first solo EP for Uncanny Valley is a record of high humidity. The Java /
Sumatra EP evolved in large parts in Indonesia when Sneaker lived there for
almost a year and it literally conveys the Indonesian heat to dance floors in
the rest of the world. Compared to his Acid House-inspired "You Think
You Think" which was featured on the Uncanny Valley 004 compilation,
this four new tracks show another, rather dark, Pop and New Wave side of
Sneaker. The "Java Island" side starts with "White Glow"
where a serious percussion workout is blended together with the sharp
electric guitar by Indonesian guitarist Al Goz. Backed up by Sneaker's
typical drum work, Slovakian singer Helena and Sneaker himself are dreaming
of that mystical light. In "Misty Mirror", it seems like Sneaker is
speaking to his reflection in the mirror and trying to figure out what he is
seeing there. The track is as relentless as it is bittersweet with its
stumbling dark bass synth and the bell-like melody before the pads bring
things to an almost orchestral end. "Sumatra Rain" again features
Al Goz, this time on the Bamboo Flute, Guitar and with a poem in
West-Sumatran Minang Language |

While perfectly fitting the deep
house cabinet, this EP taps on various styles within this genre. Jayson
Wynters, well known for his releases on Mr G's Phoenix G Label and Don't Be
Afraid, sets the pace with Sherella's Kiss; a powerful groove and beautiful
chord pads embedded in an upbuilding percussive atmosphere. This is a very
personal track from Jayson and this dedication to 'Sherella' is testimony to
the immortality that can be found in the power of a soulmate. Italian artist
Duccio, who previously released on the label Greta Cottage Workshop delivers
a melodic track with mediative vocals while Ukraine's Kiddmisha gets his well
deserved second appearance on Batti Batti with an immersive electro cut .
Hailing from Chicago, the artist Weakmassive makes his debut to the label
with a smooth acidic track which could be a perfect opening or an encore to a

Birmingham's Jayson Wynters makes
his second outing for Don't Be Afraid in under a year with four earth-shaking
rollers from his Digbeth laboratory. Across four tracks Wynters neatly
surveys the state of the underground house and techno union in the UK and
beyond, taking in the stepping, broken rhythms of Beta (Version), the
dancefloor annihilation of One Hundred N Forty, and the frantic, Midwest
rollage of Into The Void, before concluding on an optimistic note with The

Bridging
perfectly the space in between Butterfly Child's astonishing early EPs and
the ravishing 'Honeymoon Suite' set, 'Onomatopoeia' is perhaps BC's most
startling opus - as gnarly and grainy as it is shot through with radiant
light, as interested in the turbid sonics of street life as it is in the
magical transportation enacted by great song writing, as prone to wide-eyed
innocence as red-eyed reflection
. The sounds here are spacey,
dazzling, sometimes bumping with A.R Kane-style beats, sometimes a beatless
chiaroscuro of analogue and digital wonder - always changing, always opening
up new antechambers to wander and wonder in. Contemporaneous to Disco
Inferno, Bark Psychosis and other 90s UK bands keen on finding new ways to
make pop matter to the listener, 'Onomatopoeia' throughout stakes out its own
unique turf - Cassidy's sound and vision drawing in jazz, folk, psychedelia,
industrial-noise and dreampop to craft an aperture through to other worlds, a
window still stained poignantly with the detritus and drift of earthly life.
Both stellar and concrete, hard-boiled and impossibly hopeful 'Onomatopoeia'
remains a uniquely ambitious, properly transcendent masterpiece |

The
Austrian electronic music label fortunea is operating since over 4 years. 9
records have been released so far. For the 10th issue they laced a very
special vinyl package! 8 tracks by Viennese and Upper Austrian local heroes
have been placed on 2 vinyl. The A-side begins with an uplifting opener by
Step Back Trax honcho Jon Gravy, followed by a deep, raw house stomper by
Peletronic. Klaus Benedek calls out - The Power of Sweat on B1, while celeste
resident dj HANZO, the new member of the bunch, shows his love for
experimental lo fi sounds in - Veni Vide. Alex Kolodziej comes back with a
saxophonist to curb vulgar utterances, while Roman Rauch and Precious K team
up again after more than 5 years as their Twinpeaks moniker. From the suburbs
of Linz comes Johann Destroy. In - Wax Mining he collaborated with
Vöcklabruck's house boy Lukas Poellauer (here as LP.) on a peaktime crossover
tune. Last but not least Lee Stevens from Luv Shack Records finishes this
compilation with a sunny, chill out vibed for the - Magharibi (sunset,

Label Lavibe curated by Brice Coudert (Artistic director for Concrete, Dehors
Brut, Weather festival...) releases the 3rd opus of his "Sans Titre
Ep" series. After Bambounou & Marco Shuttle, Peter Van Hoesen &
Simo Cell, it's now the turn of french Avant-garde artist NSDOS and Detroit
underground pillar Patrick Russell to share the 2 sides of the next split EP.
"Botanic Garden" was recorded in a single take by NSDOS during a
stay at the "Villa Medicis"(Roma,italy). As usual with him, the
track is a trip halfway between shamanism and experimentation (including
through its polyrhythmic structure), and whose intensity and style variations
all along make it a perfect example of what we imagine to be the dancefloor
music of the future: tribal and sophisticated. On the split side, Patrick
Russell offers us his very first original solo track (he has produced so far
only remixes or collaborations). The American veteran known for his
affiliations with the highly respected US crews Interdimensional
Transmissions (Detroit) and The Bunker NYC, produces with "Stewart
Road" a perfect 160BPM in halfbeat warm up track. Deep and classy |
