2020 was a year like no other.
Thankfully, Shipwrec is slowly returning to normality. Not only is the label
back to releasing form, but also the roster of artists is being expanded with
the superb addition of Caron. Known for his releases on labels like 030303
and Brokntoys, Caron debuts on Shipwrec with a four tracker of sheer quality.
Off-kilter percussion introduces the breathy pads and grandeur of
"Ancestry," a piece of dreamy chords and acid undertones. The
haunting "Common Sense" follows. Drums stagger next spectral vocals
in this chilling electro piece. A similar stalking note continues on the flip
with the 303 soaked "Lost." A steady kick offers a bedrock from
which looming keys, bitter squawk and dancefloor paranoia take hold. Hopeful
shades arrive with the brilliance of "Ruins." From industrial
percussion and metallic rinses, a deep and intricate finale forms to bring
"Shattered" to a terrific close |

Conjuring
up lush minimal soundscapes intertwined with noise elements and hard as nails
riff rock, reminiscent of some kind of weird mixture between a Mondriaan and
Pollock painting, H A S T is mind-blowing, ear-blowing and heart-blowing,
exploring extreme dynamics, pure simplicity and everything in between. H A S
T, founded by alto saxophone player Rob Banken, is an instrumental band
rooted in jazz, heavy rock and improvisation. Their signature sound can best
be described as not shying away from exploratory intellect while still
maintaining passages of stunning simplicity, rock riffs and free
improvisation. Ubi Sunt (Where are... {they}?), is part of the Latin question
"Ubi sunt qui ante nos fuerunt?". (Where are those who were before
us?'). This kind of questioning evolved into a stylistic figure in medieval
poetry, which was mainly used in the then popular elegies (a reference to
'Elegy', the debut album of H A S T). Originally an expression of a sense of
nostalgia, it became more and more a reflection on transience and mortality.
The music on 'Ubi Sunt' was written and recorded in the middle of a the

Kynant EX is a new series for
non-dancefloor focused records on hand-stamped vinyl. The first release comes
from a legendary UK band, O Yuki Conjugate, who have been making unique
experimental music since 1982. The duo have reworked their 2019 album track
“Forgotten Summer” into a two-part, 12m45s epic, which starts broken-beat and
ends with a five minute beatless sequence. The B-side houses two new tracks,
the first is abrasive and full of dread, the second a bass-heavy ambient cut.

Small
Great Things is a new label from Luca Olivotto of Endless Music and its first
release sees the Berlin-based artist deliver an EP of modern takes on classic
deep house sounds. The 'Small Great Things EP’ kicks off with an eponymous
cut with steadily unfurling pads leading to a breakdown of light, uplifting
melodies while rooted to the floor with a jacking rhythm track and bottom
end. Sometime Ibadan and B-Pitch producer DOS serves up a remix of ’Small
Great Things’ under his given name, Francesco Mami, where the Italian
producer turns in a warm but propellant version with loose, rattling rhythms
and saturated stabs creating a nifty, rounded piece. On the B-side Olivotto
opens with ’Swipe Out’, a gloriously detailed track that balances slick
synths and gritty bass perfectly, allowing a beautiful vocal to shine
through. We’re treated to a stirring song on closing track ‘Don’t Blame Me’,
where soaring Detroit influenced synth pads and staccato melodies combine to

EP from Josh Hvaal. Getting Better sees the UK talent return to the label,
fresh from releasing his maiden EP, The Sound, on the imprint in March last
year. Basic leads the charge and takes no prisoners as it goes, pairing rapid
kick-hat combos against layered vocal tones to create Josh’s signature
late-night sound. Getting Better comes next, blending a retro acid vibe with

Spencer Parker returns to Radio
Slave’s Rekids with ‘The Theme’ EP, the DJ/Producer’s most distinctive single
to date. Comprising three originals and a remix from Pink Concrete, ‘The
Theme’ EP sees the Berlin-based Brit known for blending house, disco and
techno delve further into his ‘80s new wave influences hinted at in his
recent ‘The Love And Sex’ EP for HE.SHE.THEY. First track ‘Theme’ is Parker
at his most musical. With simple piano licks, digital strings and soaring
choral swells, this is an anthemic piece that oozes class. ‘Radio Waves
(After Dark)’ sees staccato synth leads play off a pulsing bass while the
titular vocal sample and aesthetic recall some of Parker’s work under his

It
doesn't happen too often that you come across someone with Sam's composure
and artistry at such a young age. 22 year old Sam De Nef has been in music
for a while as lead singer of indie outfit 'Danny Blue and the Old Socks',
but It wasn't until last year he started thinking of a solo career.
Influenced by a generation of songwriters he listens to every day, Sam felt
an urge to follow his own path and write genuine songs he could play all by
himself and at any time, unadorned and without pretence. He started recording
demo's during the March lockdown, swiftly landed a record deal and started
recording his debut with Nicolas Rombouts (Dez Mona, Ottla, Stef Kamil
Carlens) and PJ Decraene (Rhinos are People too) - also his live band - in an
old house in the French Vosges mountains. The first tracks he released did
not go unnoticed at national radio, press and streaming playlists alike. Sam
is a prolific writer and lyricist, he recorded a 7 track debut mini album,
expected in February. We are instantly struck by his stunning vocals, his
versatility and maturity as a songwriter, embracing the classics but never
without transcending their influence. Sam De Nef's first solo project is a

First up we have the Nigerian modern music visionary Jerome Sydenham

Techno Hub that is Berlin, a man with his finger firmly on the pulse and it’s
no surprise, IT’S A BANGER! Following on from Jerome we have Mykel Haze &
Plastik Corpse (Noir Music / Naked Lunch) with a deeper more melodic
interpretation that still gives a fair bit of punch to keep the energy of the
release on track. Then we throw in a curveball with the wobbly acidic vibes
of Dan Wild (Just Jack Bristol) which would fit perfectly at any late night
Chicago warehouse party, and finally, last but by no means least, we have

December, Tia-Mellow announces his arrival with stunning debut album
Memories. Tia-Mellow is a brand new alias from an already established artist
with a cult underground following for his stylishly deep and ambient laced
techno. Mellow formally studies music and sound design while living in
London. He also works full time as a bartender, so has juggled lots of
different things and made plenty of sacrifices to realise a dream of writing
this new record. He is someone who is drawn to the imperfections of analogue
music and the vinyl format, and that shows in the grainy textures and frayed
edges of this beautiful record. Mellow was written over the last five months
while Tia spent time in Italy and London. If finds him distill a wealth of
ideas into supremely absorbing and deeply atmospheric sounds. It was written
using a mix of plug-ins and a Roland TR8S drum machine and shows a real
development of his trademark style with plenty of new moods and shades
explored. Right from the off, this album pulls you in with its mellow magic
and beautiful ambiance. The title track buried r&b vocals in rubbery
kicks and oceans of analogue warmth, then Incertezza unravels with deeply
buried drums gently moving you onwards through a cavern of glassy sounds, gently
synth waves and angelic vocal sounds. The Reason of Love features MC Doppia C
and is a deep and dubby rhythm that awakens the soul with its ambient pads
and shimmering voices |

Multi-faceted
artist Calibre today shares his sixteenth studio album "Feeling
Normal". The album is out now to pre-order on Vinyl, CD and on digital
platforms via his own independent imprint Signature Recordings. The record is
his first bonafide 140bpm record and a staggering body of work that shows the
genius levels of one of electronic music's most respected auteurs. Across the
13 tracks, he transcends through space and time, creating music that will
take the listener on a weighty sonic journey. The album announcement is
accompanied by two dub versions "Bad" and "Badder"
deconstructed from the track "Badman" with DRS from Mark Ernestus
available via his Hardwax store January 29th and Bandcamp February 12th. "Getting
to work with Mark Ernestus is a real honour, I collected Basic Channel,
Rhythm & Sound and his other work for many years and still do. It's hard
to avoid the influence of this guy in electronic music across genres and so
it is a real pleasure to have him do his thing with the Badman tune which I
think sounds closely related." All of the tracks on the record have been
road-tested in Calibre's DJ sets over the last 2/3 years with many of them
being sought-out by his hardcore fans. It was only a matter of time then that
he put them out for all to consume. With a nod to the dancefloor, the clear
idea for the album came about following the release of his most personal
album to date "Planet Hearth". "It still works in the
headspace but ultimately it's been written for the sweaty club experience we
miss now, also after an album like Planet Hearth it felt very liberating to
do," he remarks |

Hello Moon is a unique
collaboration between Professor Tim O Brien from Jodrell Bank and Stargazing
Live and music producers Jim Spencer and Dave Tolan who have worked with New
Order, The Charlatans and Echo & The Bunnymen. The idea was simple - to make
the sound archive of Jodrell Bank into a hit single/dancefloor smash using
sounds from the big band to the present day, from sounds sent to earth from
all over the universe. The results have been made into a moon shaped picture
disc with Professor Tim running through the origin of all the sounds on the

Having
released his last fantastic EP Melodius Hubbub a year previous, ED1999 is
back with his newest project, named Moving Glow on Porpax records,
illustrated by Graphic Designer Oliver SPERL, representing Belgiums best
talent. Remaining serious in sentiment but developing his sound, ED1999 uses
elements of light to contrast with the dark. As his previous EP followed the
theme of interpreting pathways, this EP isn’t all too much different, as it
captures the autonomous and excitable nature of light. Even though the speed
of light is the fastest most constant definitive, ED1999 manages to bend,
warp and interpret light itself through each track’s alternate paces and
elements. That makes it no surprise that Beam of Light starts us off with a
full-body feeling of suspense. His classic momentous techno beat with a
gratifying and anchoring kick drives the track the entire way through. Then,
as the title foreshadows, the glimmers of light - in the form of synthesisers
- manage to push their way through the cracks and eventually bleed out until
they’re completed absorbed by the beats and become one. Unknown Luminescence
is nothing short of a fun, intense and gyrating episode |

2019 the Spanish Reggae label Infini-T music (founded by Chalice Sound System
members, Sato & Mista T) will make 10 years since their first official
release. In order to celebrate it, they present: "The Essentials",
a 16 remastered tracks compilation, that is available on an exclusive limited
edition vinyl. A selection of tunes with artists such as Morodo, Luciano,
Gappy Ranks, Emeterians, Candyman, Forward Ever Band, Yeyo Pérez, Mikey
