It’s
finally here. This is the 10th anniversary of the vinyl-only series on Vivus
and what a better way to celebrate than with the magic touch of the Romanian
wizard, Vlad Arapasu, who has cooked up some very special sounds for you. We
start off with the title track, Inserpia, which kicks things off in a
powerful manner. Right from the beginning, a dominant bassline greets you and
you know it means business. The subtle percussions added only a few moments
later only take this point further: you’re in the middle of the madness,
straight from the start. Next, it’s Daniel Broesecke’s interpretation of Vlad
Arapasu’s track. Daniel calms things down a little, with the track taking its
time to really get going – that is until the smooth bass line takes over and
gets your feet moving instantly. Finally, it’s time to have a beer in
celebration of Vivus's 10th vinyl anniversary. Vlad Arapasu brings us La
Cerveza, a song that has a brisk rhythm right from the get-go and adds layer
after layer as the seconds roll on. The end result is a joyful affair, the

was born. House is a feeling it´s very positive, it´s uplifting, it´s dance
music and most importantly it´s for all people from every different walk of
life. Back in the days it spoke especially to those who were considered to be
outsiders. The house music dance scene was one of the most integrated and
progressive spaces in the 1980s where gays, blacks, and other minority groups
were able to dance together in a positive environment. House music helped to
glue communities together it was like church for people who have fallen from
grace and it´s influence on the development of the modern dance music culture
is undeniable. Until today the idea of equality, unity, love, and respect is
a widespread set of principles for the rave culture which developed out of
house and retained a foothold on the underground scene but also across it´s
borderlines all over the globe. The new NBAST Sub-label “We Must Protect This
House” is a homage to the ethos of the Paradise garage and to the early days
of house music, to Chicago and New York and the music culture itself with a

Since 2019, Shipwrec's ambient
wing has been in hibernation; waiting for the right artist and record to
revive it. That musician has now arrived, Ochre with his album: Eye to
Windward. Ten soundscapes make up this journey into the rich and textured
world of this creator. The first steps on this excursion reverberate in the
autumnal haze of "First Builders" before the shaded pathways of
"Rising Tide" and "Evacuation." The listener finds
themselves in a fissure, between different audio scenes; the sea-sawing waves
of "Socotra", the undulations of the astral "Parinherm,"
the waking dream of "Fiddlehead", as Ochre paints in subtle tones

Melbourne
born-and-raised musician, Jordan Brando, lands on Shall Not Fade's Killer
Cuts imprint for his debut on the label, seven tracks that show impressive
variety in his production and include two vocalist features. "Moment in
Time" is a versatile release with fully-fledged radio playable songs and
a host of dancefloor heaters. After hitting big with "Rockin'" in
2019 and touring Australia supporting the likes of Fisher, Brando now
demonstrates the depth and breadth of his musical style in this full-length
EP, opening out with the title track - a unique song featuring fellow
Melbourne local Vincent Sole. From the glitchy intro the song hits a house
beat to get you tapping along but then contrasts this with Sole's silky
smooth vocals and disco guitar trills. Following on from this are two more
classic dance tracks - "Elsewhere" chops up rnb vocals across a
swirling bassline - day party gear - while "Broken Dub" shows
Brando's abilities to draw from a range of genres, a pacey breaksy number
that tempts a reload. The record's B-side also contrasts club tracks with
vocal features; "Conflict" is the most headsy track on the record,
a harder beat and snarling bass for sweaty clubs |

Band began as Chico & amp, the Slow Death, its front man a wild
Tunisian-born singer otherwise known as Mahmoud Ayari, with drummer Patrick

Monneri. Conjuring a dark, excessive sound with unfettered guitar, pummelling

originally released in 1979 as Greensleeves longplayer number 6 and presents
the renown vocal harmony group after Leroy Sibbles had left the group and
Naggo Morris had officially joined the trio. The 10-track longplayer was remastered
by Kevin Metcalfe and re-issued for the first time early 2014. All tracks
were recorded at Channel One studio with producer Joseph Hoo Kim and the
musicians of The Revolutionaries. The artwork was designed by Bloomfield
& Travis and photographs were taken by David Hendley. Now repressed this
album is available again! |

History of Reggae, David Katz. The late Bunny Rugs was best known as the
frontman for legendary reggae band Third World, but prior to that he
completed an apprenticeship at Lee Perry's Black Ark resulting in this solo
LP, originally released in 1975 and credited to Bunny Scott. The album
captures the laid-back sessions of the early Black Ark, with a few surprising
innovations lurking amongst the soul covers and love ballads. Highlights
include the sought after Blaxploitation-influenced funk track 'Kinky Fly'
featuring members of The Chi-Lites' backing band, passing through Perry's
infamous studio whilst in Jamaica for a series of shows - their horn section
and Chinna Smith's wah-wah guitar give the track its outstanding difference
as synth overdubs add to the moody feeling, underpinned by the ghostly click
tracks of the Conn Rhythm Unit (constituting one of Perry's earliest
experiments with drum machines). Breakup track 'Second Avenue' shows how suited
Rugs' powerful, deep tenor was suited to a soul framework, the Chi-Lites'
horns again making a striking difference |

Following
on from a series of singles, 'Runnin' Wild', 'Confliction' and 'Jump The
Line', First Word Records is very pleased to present a full-length EP from
alt-soul artist Olivier St.Louis, produced by Oddisee - 'M.O.T.H. (Matters Of
The Heartless)' Olivier was born in Washington DC of Haitian and Cameroon
heritage, but spent his teens studying in the UK. As a teenager, his CD and
tape collection would encompass a wide range of genres, from hip hop and
r&b to garage and British alternative rock. A bio-science student,
Olivier couldn't suppress his true passion of music. After graduating, he
took on a "Jekyll and Hyde" lifestyle; working as a scientist in
the day, and a musician at night. His work as a recording artist eventually
lead to his debut release in 2011, 'The Mr. Saint Louis EP', released under
the moniker Olivier Daysoul and produced by longtime collaborator and fellow
Washingtonian, Oddisee, a revered hip hop producer / artist in his own right.

Old,
but still functioning computers are simply scrapped, made redundant and
without remorse left to corrosion and an existence without a task and no
perspective. That this doesn’t need to be so, and that even computers with
limited storage capacity can still take on a function in society, is
illustrated by Alexei Shulgin’s outdated 386, now serving as a musician.
Performing Classic Rock's Biggest Smash Hits! The Clash! The Doors! The Sex
Pistols! Hendrix! and more... gone digital, gone to 8-bit computerized
chip-music with a singing computer, with all the charme available to a
text-to- speech- programm. Created by Russian artist Alexei Shulgin, 386 DX
was “the world’s first cyberpunk band.” Known for its live performances on
city streets and in nightclubs, the performer is a dingy, singing PC that
runs Windows 3.1, equipped with a vintage sound card and loaded with MIDI
files of drums, guitar, and synth and accompanying lyrics. The ironic comment
delivered by Shulgin and his singing computer is well within the context of
the performances by the 386 DX rockband, with which he “toured” Europe in
1998 and performed on nearly 60 occasions. This one- man-one-computer-show
was based on a similar idea as his current installation: Shulgin presented
himself as a performer carrying a keyboard, and by simply hitting a key
elicited the text-to-speech singing, accompanied by very simple music and a

Casting
its net far and wide, from Australia to Finland, via the UK and Tunisia, One
Eye Witness’ maiden VA drop gathers a quartet of the international producers
who’ve come to pique our interest in recent months. Starting with Tunis-based
up-and-comer HearThug, who steps up with “Alien All Too Alien” - a steadily
pulsatory, 303-marinated dasher interlarded with flocks of pugnacious talk
box stabs and rattling drums, making it a proper DJ-friendly weapon for any
hour of the day. Helsinki’s Jeku follows up with the tribal acid churner
‘Aftermath’, laying down a sleek, sub-heavy earworm prepped on submerging
systems from under the deepest layers of the spectrum with its fluttering
melody, sturdy basswork and FX-laden synthesis. Flip the coin over and here
goes London-based groove manipulator Sohrab, entering the melee with
‘Ataraxia’ - a hypnotic slice of stealth mode, Gaussian-blurred dub techno
that does exactly what’s written on the tin. The final number ’Surrender’
comes courtesy of rising Sydney-based producer Cousin, who treats us to a
tripped-out ethereal riddim making the rounds betwixt the vaporous serenity
of ambient and deep dub vibrations |

maar staat tegelijk met twee voeten stevig in deze tijd. Songs met een eigen

hier niet op punten staat. Op de cover staat Mira als de Heilige Maagd Maria
in een bruine kroeg. De druk om een goed mens, een perfecte moeder te zijn in
woelige tijden, loopt als een rode draad door ‘heilig hart’. Het gelaagde,
vaak ongrijpbare klankpalet van het album is het resultaat van een intense samenwerking
met producer Nicolas Rombouts (Dez Mona, Guido Belcanto, Ansatz Der
Maschine), contrabassiste/ arrangeur Anneleen Boehme (LABtrio, Grand Picture
Palace) en celliste Juno Kerstens (The Bonnie Blues). Mira had al lange tijd
bewondering voor zangeres Vera Coomans, bekend van onder andere de jaren ’80
cultgroep Madou. Ze trok haar stoute schoenen aan en vroeg Vera om een
samenwerking. Zo ontstond ‘Zeker in de winter’, een duet over hoe de jaren

energy offering for Token. The record also marks Mike Parker's first outing
on the label with a stunning remix in his inimitable style. A natural fit for
Token, the Belgian duo serve up a neat package of rolling contemporary Techno
- driven but dynamic and broad in terms of tone. The production is decidedly
refined and riffs on the classic posits of the genre, making the very most of
very little. Opener Disappear 1 sets the scene: immediate, metallic material
for the dance-floor and Disappear 2 doesn't let the energy dip - a slice of
pure peak time Techno executed with considerable deftness. Closing out the A
side, Disappear 3 opens things up, a marginally more airy take on the same

first pressing on yellow vinyl. 'Lichen' is a selection of rarities from Dijf
Sanders' hard drive. Dijf reworked and compiled six songs that didn't make it
to the previous albums, but now form a new collection in their own
right.Lichen mostly comprises reworked creations he did for dance and
performance, nostalgic compositions that fuse organic electronics with
classical music. Here are some words from Dijf Sanders: I love blending the
acoustic with the electronic, treating the electronics as ancient
instruments. I like to imagine they were meant to be played this way, many
centuries ago. These are the tracks that make my heart rest and my mind pause
for a while. They were written somewhere between 2016 and 2021. All of these
tracks were originally created for dance and performances. Hence the dramatic
touch to them. This is where they might differ from my other tracks. They
share both an amplified emotionality and a certain minimalism. I'm delighted
that these "dropouts" finally found their little club. A club

In 2007 bassist Anneleen Boehme
was one of the founders of LABtrio, which is considered as one of the most
acclaimed Belgian jazz bands of the past decade. Just like her companions
Lander Gyselinck and Bram De Looze, she quickly asserted herself in the most
diverse contexts. Now Boehme is launching her "dream project":
Grand Picture Palace. A jazz quintet and a string quartet that blend
different worlds together. Boehme leads and plays bass and has been writing
eight compositions that break through genre walls, music both powerful and
elegant, showing how jazz and classical music can balance each other without
cliches. All recordings were made in the early summer of 2020 in the studio
of mentor and fellow musician Nicolas Rombouts. The self-titled album 'Grand
Picture Palace' will be released on February 19th 2021 |

on the heels of two EP releases on Bristol label Shall Not Fade, Felipe
Gordon is preparing for the release of his debut album on the important UK
imprint. With human contact at an absolute minimum, it's refreshing to hear
an electronic music record that ventures away from the machine in favour of
the organic. Gordon's ability to blend complex jazz instrumentation with
acid-licked basslines, golden-age house aesthetics and the cultural sounds of
South America is unrivalled; creating distinctive, beautiful and exciting
house records from his home in the Colombian capital of Bogota. "A
Landscape Onomatopeya" was crafted through the concept of a painting;
exploring shades, changes of tone, use of light. "I found myself making
tons of music and wondering how to start an album process", he says,
"something with more concept; a long journey between all the different
musical influences in my head. I wanted to try to accomplish something with
soul, deepness and an inherent melancholia to it. More organic, more
human." The record - which includes the Spanish word Onomatopeya as a
Colombian statement and ode to the Latin American house scene - kicks off
with the early evening funk of "How Do You Spell That", the distinct

Next
up for Time Is Now's white label series is Prozak - a Dublin-based producer
who has garnered a growing following over the past year. Prozak, aka Zac
Curtis, follows up an EP of remixes for Kiwi Rekords with Make Me Feel. The
EP is 100% club gear dabbling in classic rave sounds and jungle before
masterfully returning to his garage roots. The title track "Make Me
Feel" is equal parts euphoric rave vocalisations and growling bassy
ruffage, with stuttering stop-and-start breaks thrown in for good measure
that tear through the track - an instant classic that knocks you breathless.
"Missing You" builds from a gentle ebb into wobbling bass-heavy
garage, Curtis chopping and changing the vocal samples into unrecognisable
snatches with expert production. He then dishes up a glitching speed garage
tool with "Negative", still seasoned with a ravey edge that makes
the record as a whole feel festival ready. On the B-side,
"Sunshine" is sweet buoyant UKG constructed from neatly cut up
vocals that clamour against each other and a skipping irresistible rhythm.
Equally upbeat, "Falling" stands out as the most playful track,
with mass appeal and large drops that shakes off some of the dark bassiness
of the A-side |

producer Tim Koch. Following on from Koch's CPU debut Spinifex back in 2018 -
an album that initially emerged via minidisc - Tourbillon is a four-track EP
which dazzles with its perpetual-motion post-IDM productions. These tracks
draw you into their webs by forming dense interlocking sonic patterns over
the course of several minutes. While the rhythmic programming and lattice of
alien percussion tones can appear discombobulating at first, Koch also
bewitches the listener with the slyly melodic synth work that he laces
throughout Tourbillon. Opening track 'Estranger' is a fine example of this
combination. The first section here is a blend of blown-out drum sounds which
comes off like an industrial electro tune run through a meat grinder |

The Martinez Brothers return to conquer with a lament for our lost dance
floors. Those 4am moments extinguished. The silent bass bins. ‘Play In The
Dark’ is a track as unhinged as the times. A howl in the night. The A Side
'Steam Mix’ of 'Play In The Dark' takes no prisoners as it unleashes ominous
beats, an incessant groove and Seth’s suitably crazed vocals on lockdown
frayed ears. Seth is undoubtedly one of the most distinctive vocalists in
electronic music, and it’s great to hear the freaked-out drawl haranguing and
destabilising listeners all over again. The B Side ’Troxler’s Freak Mix’ is
more of a subtle groovier affair with classic house overtones but make no
mistake it’s just as devastating. Although they have shared many DJ booths
and notorious B2B’s over the years, ‘Play In The Dark’ is the guys’ first
release together since ‘Space & Time’, their inaugural release for

A
work 12 months in the making, Alex Lentini & STOMP BOXX deliver a
standout EP debut. The Italian pair – living at the extreme opposites of
their country’s ‘boot’ will be new names to the Drumcode faithful. They first
appeared on the label in December 2020, with a strong contribution to A-Sides
Vol.10 titled ‘Expanders’. So impressed was Adam Beyer with their
productions, a fulsome debut EP was secured soon after. ‘Fine Line’ was
conceived in the final stages of 2019. With the extra studio time lockdown
provided, the duo enjoyed a creative freefall, allowing them to refine a
five-track work that sits at the intersection of home-listening techno and
dancefloor functionalism. ‘Natural Desire’ has a definable spunk to it, as
pulsating chords undulate towards a breathy pad-laden finish. ‘Shifting Soul’
is exquisite, as crunchy drums and a rousing vocal ensure it’s a memorable
addition to the Drumcode canon. The title track is colourful and thrilling in
equal doses, as muscular synth lines coalesce alongside pin-sharp rhythms.

Cowboy
Rhythmbox return for a short, sweet and typically unusual transmission, as
cult house journeyman, Detroit producer and DJ Sharif Laffrey provides one of
the most memorable and original releases in Phantasy’s history, followed by a
simmering take from the duo themselves. Chugging with schizophrenic glee for
nearly fifteen minutes, Laffrey masterfully combines his own flavour for
obscurities and offbeat samples with no less than three tracks from the
Cowboy Rhythmbox archive. Mixing element upon element into a somewhat
absurdist masterpiece, this uncategorizable rework injects waves of weirdo
energy and a little menace into the small hours. In response, Cowboy
Rhythmbox consciously scramble the formula even further. They were so
impressed by Laffrey’s interpretation, they choose to deliver a remix upon
remix with their ‘Deviation Variation’. Retaining the full measure of their
skittish psychedelia that has blessed and freaked-out dancefloors over the
years, the original pair rework the vampish synths at the heart of previous
head spinner‘Vodonik’, escalating guttural acid and a heads down bassline
that perhaps dials down the fury, but keeps the filth |

Matthias
Meyer and a trio label of debutants make up the fourth instalment of the
much-loved ‘Watergate Affairs’ series. Initiated in 2016, the series
assembles a collection of top-quality tracks that otherwise could not fit
into Watergate’s busy release schedule, such is the strong pool of music the
label draws from. Emerging Dutch producer Budakid joins the label with
‘Orrery’, after previously making an impact with cuts on Last Night On Earth,
Einmusika and Lost & Found. The track’s dreamy soundscapes and
otherworldly energy make for a transcendental mood maker. Matthias Meyer is
suitably superb with ‘Interlude’, as delicate strings and a muffled melody
line gently wash against a shore of sparse beats. Henri Bergmann & Julian
Wassermann link for ‘Maenad’, as punchy grooves bring the EP into peak-time
territory as a multilayered chord pattern hits with a satisfying headrush.
Danish artist Nandu rounds out the package with ‘My Mystery Is A Mystery’.
It’s the kind of succulent end-of-nighter every set needs as uplifting pads,
stirring keys and a buttery bassline glide together in sweet unison |

Records is very happy to reissue Swiss cult band Grauzone’s self-titled album
in an expanded 40 Years Anniversary Edition packed with the original 1981
album plus 9 extra songs, as well as extensive liner notes by Swiss music
historian Lurker Grand. The 19-track album is available as a double LP vinyl
in heavy 350gsm sleeve and a digipack CD, both sourced from the original
reels and put together under the supervision of band member and all around
legend Stephan Eicher. The pioneering band from Bern (Switzerland) had a
short-lived but highly-regarded career which birthed a cult discography that
still fascinates and resonates today. Consisting of core members Martin
Eicher, Stephan Eicher, and Marco Repetto, and on-and-off participants
Christian GT Trüssel, Claudine Chirac, and Ingrid Berney, the elusive group
broke new grounds in the early 80s, experimenting with punk and industrial
music, early techno sounds, minimalism, new wave, pop, and various
electronics. With an innovative and polished approach to design, visuals,
performance, and all around style and philosophy on top of their superb
music, the constantly transforming unit developed a whole experience - the
Grauzone experience: wild and unpredictable, yet sophisticated and cohesive,
or as Swiss music historian Lurker Grand would call it, "an Art band
with a Punk attitude". Completely rejecting the music industry rules and
refusing to play the game of promotion, touring, release schedules, and TV
appearances even though they had a multi-platinum international hit with the
song "Eisbär", the band quickly disintegrated in full
convention-defying glory, leaving behind an inspiring music legacy for the
world to discover and discover again, one generation after the other. This
extended version of their debut (and only) album beautifully crystallizes the
Grauzone miracle/accident - where pop and youthful experimentation meet at
(new/cold/no) wave and industrial crossroads, and where classic hits
("Eisbär", "FILM 2", "Raum", "Träume Mit
Mir", "Der Weg Zu Zweit"…) flawlessly mesh with unconventional
deep cuts ("In Der Nacht", "Film 1", "Maikäfer
Flieg"…). Very simply put: GOOD timeless music with an edge. Stephan
Eicher went on to be, arguably, the most successful Swiss musician ever, with
an international career extending from pop chanson to experimental escapades
and collaborations with Moondog, artists Sophie Calle and Sylvie Fleury, and
author Martin Suter among many other luminaries. Marco Repetto flourished as
a techno and ambient producer, releasing multiple projects including releases
on Aphex Twin’s Rephlex label |

sich bislang damit, mit geistig behinderten Babyschimpansen Klettertouren zu
veranstalten, sozial benachteiligte Kinder zu segnen, Heilmittel gegen
unheilbare Krankheiten zu entwickeln (sie verkauften sie aber nicht an den
Mainstream, denn der ist wack) und Selbstfindungsseminare (meistens
Klettergarten) für MC's mit unangemessenem Selbstbild durchzuführen. All das
füllte sie nicht aus. Also bestiegen sie den Himalaya ohne Sauerstoffflaschen
und bauten ein Zelt auf. Wilczynski klopfte dabei derart rhythmisch auf die
Zeltstangen, Wildstyle kratzte sich ebenso unnachahmlich am Kopf, dass das
Röcheln von Onetake problemlos als Rap-Part durchging. Der Rest ist

Starting
out on legendary Electro label SCSI AV and Orson Records in the mid
noughties, Point B began to earn himself a reputation through his intense
dance floor-focussed EPs and pensive, experimental long players. By sewing
together influences ranging from 70s sci-fi films to traditional middle
eastern music, he wove a unique sonic fabric. Later that decade and after
absorbing the waves of dubstep and post-garage that washed up on the shores
of South London, his sound matured into something that can deliver club
euphoria and introspective melancholy.With his last commercial release back
in 2014, a four year hiatus passed whilst he worked on other music projects.
During that time he built up a collection of handcrafted synth patches, some
of them employing modular synthesis techniques. The ensuing sketches formed
the basis of his latest work: Smash Hits. This is arguably Point B's most
direct and focussed record to date. Opting for a techno template, he
consciously kept the sound palette narrow, concentrating his efforts on the
groove, energy and production fidelity. This is a statement record that
demonstrates his creative control and programming playfulness |

EP (200 copies only). Holm is the solo project of Danish
multi-instrumentalist Mikkel Holm-Silkjær, and the latest iteration of an
impressive musical trajectory that has seen him record and play with Yung,
Brooch, Tears, Urban Achievers, and Happy Hookers for Jesus. At just 23 and
with a discography already in double figures, Holm-Silkjær is nothing if not
prolific. Yet his work as Holm might prove to be his most complete. While
previous projects were often collaborative, all four songs on Dappled, his
debut EP for Tough Love, were written, recorded, performed, and mixed by
Holm-Silkjær himself in a shared rehearsal space. This resourcefulness has
long been characteristic of the music he makes, defined by an overarching DIY
ethos that has also seen him champion the music of others through the two
record labels he runs (100 and Shordwood, the latter of which also released
the first Holm recordings as a 7") and the organisation of numerous live
events in both Aarhus and Copenhagen. Those familiar with Holm-Silkjær's
other music will certainly recognise Dappled as his - that unmistakable
metallic vocal, brash chiming guitars, and a preternatural melodic
sensibility. Where Dappled differs from previous work, however, is in song
structure, most obviously on 'Hope' and 'Grow', the opening and closing
tracks respectively |
