On "Human Universals"
The Carnation are leaving their new wave/infected sound for something rather
different. While the harsh vocal delivery remains intact in places, the
overall impression of the album is one of development. With the inclusion of
synthesizers, dance grooves and Christian Bergman's melancholic/psychedelic
slide guitar parts the band has certainly come a long way since their debut
with "Gothenburg Rifle Association". The new record begins in a
stylish way with the delayed drums of soul/pop effort "Label
slaves", before the punky guitar and bass of "Thursday's kid"
kicks in. These are followed by a list of songs that combines anger, hate and
frustration with political awareness and hope for the future. When singer
Eric Obo barks about terrace aggro in "Where's the violence_", it's
actually hard not to believe him. After a staggering 42 minutes the final
chord of the 13th and last song "On the losing end" fades out and
the listener is guaranteed to have been affected in some way or another |

Rising
Romanian producer RQZ is back on Sous-Vide Records following his previous
remix of "First Floor" from SVR001. This time the Mioritmic
resident presents four snappy minimal offerings. "Temple Drum" is
our soup du jour, the tenacious kick dominates the palate while RQZ lightly
seasons the offering with sprinkles of syncopated percussive elements. A
dollop of hypnotic vocal sample is dropped on top to round out the flavours.
"Black Velvet" arrives with sharply trimmed edges creating a lean
cut with smooth textures and sounds that tease the hidden sweet and sour
notes within. "Controller" serves up a heavy bass line that
commands attention. The drums act as a pairing, providing a robust flavour
without overpowering it. Minimal beeps, blips and bloops dot the presentation
as a colourful garnish, bringing the song to life before our ears.
"Prototype" is a teaser full of cheeky groove, a savoury but subtle
melody, and only a hint of acid as an aftertaste. SVR002 brings you to the
table of RQZ where he delivers his brand of minimal rhythms for the dance

produced between 2002-2020. It was originally intended as a playlist for SVN
between his studio sessions but quickly took the shape of this snappy LP

tracks that pre-date all the Sex Tags projects are either made with one drum
machine, one synthesizer and no sequencer – or Minidisc sample based collages

For
years it was believed that José Mauro was dead. Rumours on blogs and comment
sections circulated that the mysterious Brazilian genius had either been
killed in a road accident, or been 'disappeared' by Brazil's military junta
in the 1970s. But following Far Out's 2016 reissue of José Mauro's debut
album Obnoxius, the label heard word that José Mauro is in fact alive and
well, living a quiet life on the outskirts of Rio. "My body pushed me
away from music, health became a stumbling block for me. If I had the
strength to carry on with composing, I would have... always focused on
achieving a sense of beauty, a sense of wonder." - José Mauro. After
years of trying to track him down (with many twists and turns along the way),
Far Out Recordings is overjoyed to finally present, with the blessing of the
man himself, the long-awaited release of José Mauro's forgotten masterpiece A
Viagem Das Horas, featuring three previously unreleased and unheard tracks
from the original studio sessions. Recorded in 1970 at Odeon studios in Rio
de Janeiro: the same time and place as all the music he ever recorded, José
Mauro's A Viagem Das Horas wasn't released until six years later, when label
owner and producer Roberto Quartin licensed the tracks to fellow Brazilian
label Tapecar, who curiously released the album with several tracks already
released on Obnoxius. Finally, over half a century on, A Viagem Das Horas
will be released with three never before heard tracks, "Rua Dois",
"Moenda'' and "Variação Sobre Um Antigo Tema", as Mauro and
Quartin had originally intended |

Records presses its second release: Mithra AM. Longtime Seattle favorite
Summit Dub provides the title track “Mithra AM” with side B featuring two
remixes via our Romanian friends. Cosmin Năstasă aka Cosmjn and BRYZ
are two of the brightest talents in Romanian minimal, each offering an
intriguing take on “Mithra AM”. “Mithra AM” on side A patiently gathers
steam, generating tension alongside an alluring vocal that calls out to
ethereal morning hours. As the atmosphere expands in the second half of the
track warmth arrives in lush waves. Cosmjn’s remix is up first on side B of
the EP, picking up the pace and dipping into afterhours moods. Enveloping
bass suspends lingering threads of the side A original while an acid melody

Deepak
Sharma unleashes his most intense work on Hidden with Bedlam, a forceful,
punishing and sinister sounding four-track EP including a remix by NX1. The
music is versatile yet functional and centered on being a potent DJ tool for
cerebral endurance. It should be known that the word bedlam came about as a
contraction of the name of a psychiatric hospital in London. This hospital
started out in 1247 as a priory for the order of St. Mary of Bethlehem. Side
A begins with Bedlam prodding the senses through coarse textures, distorted
tones and a steadfast groove to keep energy at a feverish pace, propelling
the mind into hysteria. The NX1 remix is savage anarchy, shocking the body
into utter madness and raw anger. Listen closely and you'll hear the wails
for help trying to escape the harrowing chamber of torment and terror. Side B
begins with Psychosis which maneuvers through stark minimalism with subtle
fluctuations of perpetual motion liberating the mind from captivity. Mania

Pour La Danse presents rEAGENZ, the iconic self-titled debut album released
in 1994 by the duo formed by Jonah Sharp (Spacetime Continuum) & David
Moufang (Move D, Deep Space Network). Previously only available in CD format,
this sought-after album which nonetheless remains too under appreciated for
our liking is finally available on double vinyl for the first time ever and
has been remastered for the occasion. Nearly 30 years after its release,
rEAGENZ remains a crucial milestone of electronic music. The duo famously met
at an early gig of British IDM heroes Autechre and then recorded its debut
album between its respective studios in San Francisco and Heidelberg. This is
a record where the sense of in betweenness is not only geographical. It is
indeed a beautiful hybrid that explores the relationship between lush ambient
textures and intricate IDM/techno rhythms, with striking and memorable
results. Rather than trying to fit in pre-determined templates, rEAGENZ
invites you in a paradigm of its own. In these unprecedented times without
access to clubs and dancefloors, this is a much needed reminder, as it is one
of those albums that argues that the enjoyment of electronic music is
anything but confined to the formulas and expectations of music for clubs.

My
Little Dog reaches its release number 100 from the hands of the legendary
German artist Sascha Dive. The first cut of the ep is the title track "I
Came to Jack", where Sascha’s music is accompanied by the vocals of one
of the most representative figures in the United States scene: Robert Owens.
“I Came to Jack” is a superb Chicago house track, where the bass line blends
in an incredible way with the synths, giving rise to one of those timeless
songs so characteristic of Sascha. The remix is carried out by Oscar Barila
(My little Dog co-owner) who teams up with the Chilean Santiago Deep to give
the track a more groovy character. They skillfully use the main parts of the
original song, turning it into a groove roller coaster that never stops
growing and growing. If we turn the vinyl, we find “Steve the Robot” where
Sascha shows off his incredible versatility by presenting us a more metallic
and hard cut, with maximum quality for those peak times moments of your sets.
On remix duties, Sergio Parrado (My Little Dog co-owner) pairs with the
talented Colombian artist Julian Millan to delight us with a much more
melodic and hypnotic cut |

tribal-laced mystic number in the form of Harar. The B-side features I See

Pablo:Rita’s stunning collaboration, Phase, soon arrives in its place,
rippling with a gentle lucidity thanks to a subtle four-four bassline and

A rising German talent steps up
for his Drumcode EP debut. We got the first taste of Thomas Hoffknecht’s
gritty Detroit-inspired sound in 2020, with ‘Code-1’ and ‘Escaping’, both
impressive contributions to the recent A-Sides compilations. In a year with
few highlights, the producer’s induction into the Drumcode fold marked a
distinct positive. Inspired by visits to the Planetarium in his hometown of
Hamburg, Hoffknecht’s ‘Antaris’ EP is an immersive five-track work that
charts the breadth of his raw, yet captivating style. The title track is
driven by a catchy organ-driven riff and marching percussion and is awash
with atmospheric intensity. ‘Comet’ is propelled by energetic stabs and
shuffling beats. On the B side, ‘Sirius’ makes its mark with a shimmering
synth-line and spoken word vocal, which adds to the track’s dream-like
texture. ‘Wega’ closes proceedings, a low-end rattler that comes up for air
thanks to a piercing vox sample that smacks of ‘90s rave flavour. Release

As
our maiden voyage into an expansive vat of unreleased music by Polish
composer Andrzej Korzynski, Finders Keepers Records presents his previously
unreleased electro/orchestral/ experimental score for Andrzej Zulawski's
surrealist 80s horror classic, Possession. These 25 cues were written and
recorded exclusively for the 1981 award-winning film starring Isabelle Adjani
and Sam Neil, but due to the progressive, stark and modernist nature of the
finished film less than half of them made it on to the actual director's cut
- leaving many of the tracks on this package totally unheard outside of
Korzynski's studio. The intended Possession score in its entirety marks an
important axis in Korzynski's career where his various musical disciplines
overlap. In one respect it marks his first forays into to synth driven
electronics and disco drum machines, while other tracks epitomise the well
honed techniques used in previous Zulawski scores, such as Third Part Of The
Night and The Devil, which rely on his inimitable orchestral arrangements and
combination of clavinet, Rhodes, piano and electric guitar. This is the first
time any of this music has been released outside of the films original
context and is packaged on CD, 12" vinyl and conceptual green compact
cassettes housed in miniature clamshell cases reminiscent of the films
original VHS release that briefly adorned UK video shops in the early 1980s
(before being banned by over excited censors as one of the unproscecuted ideo
nasties' in the infamous 1983 tape cull). The important restoration of
Korzynski's music aims to shed new light on the seldom manufactured
productions of the composer whose vast cinematic catalogue warrants overdue
global status alongside other golden era Eastern European composers such as
Kryzstof Komeda, Jan Hammer and Zdenek Liska - not to mention the best of the
French and Italian soundtrackers, such as Roubaix, Vannier and Nicolai |

The
sensational Italian pop-punk quartet Senzabenza will forever be associated
with The Ramones, having opened for them on every Italian tour undertaken by
the legendary New York group during the 1990s, the Italians eventually
placing Joey Ramone in their producer's chair. Formed in 1989 in Latina, a
small town that lies a short distance southeast of Rome, the group termed
their music "Flower Punk," indicating a sound somewhere between
their Ramones obsession and the non-thrash tempos of surf rock, along with
peripheral links to the Italian variant of the 'beat' music of the mid-60s,
as well as hints of ska and the excesses of acid rock. As with many
underground acts of the era, a demo sparked the initial interest that brought
them onto the newly formed McGuffin label for debut set Peryzoma, with front
man Nando Ferdinandi joined by guitarist Sebi Filigi, bassist Fabio Furlan,
and drummer Max Bergo. One of the lost treasures of Euro Pop Punk, it was
about time that their groundbreaking debut LP 'Peryzoma' would get the
deluxe-reissue treatment |

Released towards the end of the
60s, Children Of One's sole album was is a rare andobscure psych/rock delice
for acid fans, heavily influenced by the so-called 'Eastern trend'. This
quartet from New York picked several typical Indian instruments like sitar,
tablas and others. Improvisation is largely present in their songs and
overall the feeling is that of a really forgotten gem that ranks up there
with the best productions of that era. First vinyl reissue since the original
release on the blues label 'Real Records', and limited to 500 copies only,

Peter Howell and John Ferdinando formed Ithaca, another project recorded in
Ferdinando's spare-room studio. Howell had just joined the BBC (where he
would later work on the Doctor Who theme), and inspired by the Moody Blues,
conceived a prog-rock project exploring life's grander themes, with
Ferdinando handling producer duties, Lee Menelaus of Agincourt is present on
select songs, along with other colleagues. A Game For All Who Know is a
beautiful slice of pastoral prog that is ripe for rediscovery, this edition
made more appealing through the inclusion of several rare bonus tracks |

Adiel's
Danza Tribale is set to unleash its ninth release by electronic duo Tamburi
Neri with 'Urlo' the double EP features four original tracks in the first
disc and second disc includes four remixes by Berlin techno staple and
Berghain resident Marcel Dettmann. Tamburi Neri is comprised of Claudio
Brioschi and Andrea Barbieri both from Milan, the two producers have
previously released together on Optimo Music and Ivan Smagghe's Les Disques
De La Mort and a recent album on Worst Records, the latter in collaboration
with Japanese vocalist Hiroko. The concept of the EP comes from the desire to
experiment with distinctive textures, pushing the boundary of what could be
considered analog and percussive elements, creating a synergy between the
two. The title track goes further with these experiments by layering droning
arrangements, deep beats, combined with deconstructed spoken word samples. In
'Sognare', the vocals are folded in on themselves and distorted, creating a
centre, slowly and rhythmically building. Vocal samples give rise to new
forms, rhythmic loops, finally climaxing with the driving, potent quality of
the electronics. The EP continues with 'Hashiru' featuring vocalist Hiroko, a
spontaneous collaboration in the studio. 'Hashiru' means to run or to take
flight in Japanese, perhaps a fitting metaphor for the work Tamburi Neri have
created using beats and loops that pull the listener forward through the EP.
Dettmann's participation on these recordings comes natural from his
professional relationship with label owner Adiel. Adiel is one of the most
gifted young players currently rising in Italy and current resident of Rome's
Goa Club |

Atheos
is a ferocious new collection from Rotkeller, which sees the Swiss electronic
duo (Laurent Schmidhausler and Federico Sutera) double-down on the brooding
energy of their previous releases with a renewed intensity-fusing bold
electronic experimentalism to dense, maximalist techno. Whether on the
slow-burn immensity of opener "SW", the monolithic, doom-laden
expanses of "Malz" or the spellbinding surge of "17.
October", Atheos showcases a dark melodic complexity from the duo-in
part brought on by the use of both digital and analog recording techniques.
While the mesmeric, choral melancholia of EP closer "Godless"-its
eerie and beguiling textures echoing all that has preceded it-offers-up
ominously open-ended ending; solidifying Atheos as Rotkeller's most
atmospheric and cohesive work to-date. As if that wasn't enough, EOMAC
(Stroboscopic Artefacts, Killekill, Trilogy Tapes, Bedouin) caps Atheos off

Clean
Slate is the first release from Addremove on Swiss label Threnes. There isn't
a lot to say about Addremove himself or herself as he/she prefers to keep
their identity unrevealed, at least for the moment, so lets concentrate on
the music. Clean Slate consists of 5 original tracks and a remix from JK
Flesh (project/alias of Justin Broadrick of Godflesh, Final and Jesu).
Addremove is an electronic music project with a unique approach. The first EP
is titled "Clean Slate", and it is the second release on the outfit
s own label, "Threnes". The sound of this production is lush,
minimal, and dark, echoing influences as diverse as ambient music,
experimental electronica, and darkwave. The EP features 6 tracks with eerie
and industrial overtones, including opening number "Letter From
Police", which sets the mood with some pounding percussive samples and
fuzzy synth lines. "Lurk" is certainly one of the most striking
tracks on this release - The melodic drones and bass synth lines create an
all-embracing sonic landscape, while a sudden burst of glitchy beats breaks
the pattern unexpectedly. This track almost make you feel like being on a
spaceship, trying to escape a huge Mothership blasting out their most massive
firepower on a chase at the edge of the Galaxy |

Harry
Wolfman has been a staple member of the Dirt Crew family since his debut
collaboration with Loz Goddard in 2016. We’ve since seen considerable growth
with EPs on Phonica’s “Karakul”, “Omena” and “Outplay” all lending a hand to
the development of his signature sound into its now established lo-fi style,
delving into a range of genres... ethereal ambience, electro and left-field
rhythms, and of course deep, often break beat laden house grooves. This new
EP is no exception, Harry drops some irresistible dance tunes with “Walk With
Me” and the banging title track “Sly Contrast” but also explores the
boundaries of his palette with the vocal interludes “A21z” and the majestic
“Courage” featuring the voice of “Mona Vale”, dipping a toe into the floaty world
of lo-fi pop. We also find ambient and Jazz elements cleverly combined in
“Fhloston Paradise”. And the closing drum break joint “Wokit Shep” loops live
drums, strings, piano and brass elements, twirling towards a majestic finale
reminiscing dusty jazzy Trip Hop and instrumental Hip Hop pieces. This record
offers hope for better times... we are really glad to have Harry back with
these strong tunes and can’t wait to hear these out again on a juicy sound

Newly
launched Dutch electro label LDI Records follows up their first release from
T/Error with a deep and dark four track EP by French producer Franck Kartell.
In a homage to masterful science fiction writer Philip K Dick - Side A of
Electric Sheep EP evokes scenes from future mechanized worlds. Electric Sheep
kicks the 12" off with a melancholic and contemplative moment followed
by a steel cold and brooding venture in Voigt-Kampff. On the B side of this
release, there is a live mix of Kartell's track Electro Music, a futuristic
electro work out with kicks for the dancefloor. The EP completes with

Not Happy, releasing the third ep signed by label owners The Lumens. The
title track “Milosky” starts as a high voltage electronic club groove typical
of the duo, developing on a straight subtle bassline with airy arpeggios and
contemporary acid elements. On the remix task, none less than Federico
Molinari delivers a surprising electronic funk gem filled with plenty of
synths combined in a top-class cosmic jam. On the B side The Lumens include
in the Ep their very first studio joint, “Krember” is a solid spacy track
lead by an addictive acid phrase and lush pads for a sure massive crowd
reaction. Turin’s rising talent Denaila remixes “Sunrise”, completing the
pack with an impressive raw minimalist cut |

Steve
Rachmad, aka Sterac returns to Luke Slater's Mote-Evolver imprint this May to
release the 'Numbers' EP. Since his earliest days in the scene, Amsterdam's
Steve Rachmad has created a legion of monikers to cover his compositions'
variety and broadness. One of them being Sterac which focuses on the deeper
and more obscure end of the techno genre. The Sterac discography consists of
signature cuts, spread out over genre-defining labels such as M-Plant,
Tresor, Klockworks, Afterlife, Mote-Evolver, Indigo Aera, and Delsin. His
'Numbers' EP sees Steve drop the first release of 2021 under his Sterac alias
as he makes a return to Luke Slater's Mote-Evolver label with four tunnelling
techno tracks. Kicking off the release is 'Ghost 37', which employs vacillating
grooves, ominous synths and intricate mechanics before 'Lost Track 22' fuses
sizzling 303s, dynamic drums and mammoth, alien-sounding modulations. On the
flip, 'Rey Fur 2.1' keeps the energy flowing with a high-impact clapper
featuring bustling fx and expansive tones until 'Tr-15' masterfully rounds
off the EP with twisting synth flutters, rattling highs and hypnotic bass
grooves intricately unfolding underneath |

celebrates its 100th release with Luke Slater, a legend of the genre,
releasing under one of his most iconic aliases: Planetary Assault Systems.
For over 25 years, Slater has delivered unparalleled quality in his music - a
formative figure in Techno and instrumental in defining the sound globally,
few can touch the Brit for depth, urgency and hit rate. Exhibiting near
enough perfect renditions of classic dance-floor moods, the four track EP is
a wrought iron rollercoaster through some of the artist's most exacting work.
Booming opener Bang Wap chugs unrelentingly while a lithe FX line does the
bulk of the movement in the high mid range - building tension before a
satisfying release in the last quarter. A2 Bolt is classic Planetary Assault
Systems - hypnotic and driving with a single sequence dipping in and out of
view. On the flip, Say It Loud could be an idiosyncratic hit waiting to
happen - dry and tight in the drum department for maximum effect, and
featuring a recurring vocal sample chopped and skewed for tension. Closer
Shine takes a deeper, more psychedelic route with shades of the classic,
jacking Detroit sound in the pitch bent lead line |

After
the hugely successful Never Complain EP on Lost Palms, it's no surprise to
see purveyor of French groove DJ Psychiatre back for another disc on Shall
Not Fade, adding his name to the Seasons Series collection. Expect
exquisitely produced house for both day and night, with a splash of
rave-influenced heat. Different Philosophies EP hits like classic house music
but breaks rigid conceptions of genre. The title track is a punchy percussive
number texturised with hand drum samples that pair imperceptibly with a deep
electro melody. "Just Here To Get Ya" opens out with swirling pads
but hits hard with a sidewinding bassline in another icy space age cut.
Closing out the A-Side, the jazzier "Fantasies" serves up grooving
melody and popping ear candy to tease the ear, holding you in a hypnotic
haze. Onto the B-side and a beat you can feel in your chest lets you know
"Summer Hit Ready" means business. The tense stabs and half-hidden
vocals before the drop give high drama, making way for classic house piano.

After
appearing on the label's Time Is Now Allstars compilation, Bristol's own
Wilfy D makes his second appearance with Shall Not Fade, adding to their new
Time Is Now White label series. The young garage star serves up the smooth
and soulful two-step he is known for, plus two killer remixes from Time Is
Now family DJ Crisps and Soul Mass Transit System. "Garage Tools"
opens out the EP with staccato sampling and a rumbling sub bass wobble
dominating the track, the most headsy on the record while "All About U
(3am Mix)" takes on a gentler vibe. Using luscious vocal chops and
glimmering synths, Wilfy D creates a kind of garage love song, delicate and
soothing. He kicks things up a notch on "Know U Like It", a slice
of speed garage that grooves along to an earworm melody. On the B-side Wilfy
D's original "Midnight Shift", a clean classic noughties garage
sound palette, is reimagined twice by DJ Crisps and then Soul Mass Transit
System. DJ Crisps gives the track a drum and bass edge replete with
teeth-gritting sub bass power; Soul Mass close out the record with a dirty
up-tempo remix perfect for a soundsystem |
