tight fuzz guitars of a garage punk freakout, the Fantastic Fellinis are an
ultrasonic mod&soul pop explosion! Originating from the star- emblazoned,
sleaze-worn sidewalks of Hollywood, California, their sound storms in with a
blend of vintage vibes and modern pop sensibilities. When
songwriter&musician Kenneth Wessel was tasked to create a music score for
the spaghetti western feature Incident at Guilt Ridge, in the fall of 2018,
he lassoed the film's leading lady, songstress&actress Vitta Quinn *Vitta

Kyiv label
Criminal Practice presents its foremost, the third compilation of dance smash
hits. The release starts with the sharp and slightly ruffian track
"Underground Legends" by the duo Virtual Reality, which consists of
the co-founders of the Ukrainian label - Ghetto Sunrise and Roma Khropko.
Then it's time for invited guest Kebab Traume and his composition
"Tribe" - full of acid and raw tribal energy. The B-side
immediately adds intensity with the creation of another participant in
Criminal Practice, Vlad Stuparenko. His "Engel" is an explosive mix
of underground tech-house with proper acid notes, convincing and functional.
It, in turn, resonates as much as possible with the final track of the
compilation - "Kinetic Hearts" by Roma Khropko. A playful and

Swoose makes his
return to Shall Not Fade, joining the new Classic Cuts series, a year after
his extremely popular Introspective EP. The Irish producer is known for his
explosive nineties influenced style of house; think blissed out vocals over a
headsy nightclub ready beat. Bloom EP starts off with a bang, the title track
a percussive trance of arpeggiating synths and a touch of nineties nostalgia
with a classic sample. "Algo" is equally hypnotic; floaty melodies
that glide across the deep bass edge of this sundowner party track.
"Polypore" hits hard with a purposeful kick drum, driving home the
sidewinding acid inflections and making for a glitchy tool for dark club
nights. The closing track changes things up; "Allure" takes natural
piano loops and organic breaks to create a haunting piece of music which is a

released in 1959 - was her first album for Colpix Records. The album contains
a variety of material, including jazz, gospel, and folk songs. Compared to
her debut, which showcased Simone's piano playing ability in addition to her
singing, the piano was downplayed on Amazing in favor of string arrangements.

The
Override Switch gives control back to the musicians. Unrestrained and
unshackled by the semiotics placed by conventional dance music, it looks to a
frontier beyond what is conditioned by genre. By infusing the mercurial
elements of jazz, it gives electronic instruments the avenue that it always
had the potential to travel down; as an unrestrictive genre, exploring the
boundless possibilities in which it is capable. It looks to innovation and
transcends what has come before; it is a switch in a practical sense,
overlooking its past before switching to the future. "The Override
Switch reflects on the precise moment people decide in their minds that the
only way to improve a situation is to act - to change the scenario and deal
with the consequences as they develop to work for a better outcome". -
Jeff Mills. The album combines the talent of two Detroit natives: Jeff Mills
and Rafael Leafar. The latter is a multi-instrumentalist with a strong
affiliation to jazz music. His tastes and skills are malleable across a
plethora of genres, taking influences from his father and sisters from a very
early age. He honed his craft in Sterling Heights High School, DSA, Detroit
Civic Jazz Orchestra, & The New School for Jazz. Later developing his music
in New York, he has performed with Reggie Workman, Marcus Belgrave, Vincent
Chandler, and Jeff Tain Watts. In 2016 he moved back to Detroit, where he met
Mike Banks from Underground Resistance, and they began to experiment on music
together. Through Mike Banks, he was introduced to Jeff Mills, where the idea
for The Override Switch began to manifest. The connection to Mills was
evident from their roots, as Detroit musicians are engrained within musical
development. Axis records and Jeff Mills have embarked on a journey through
electronic music, amalgamating it with live instruments to develop the future
of sound and genres. Previously, Mills has combined with the likes of
Jean-Phi Dary, Tony Allen and Spiral Deluxe to indulge in an electronic jazz sound |

Since
they formed in 2004, Danish instrumental four-piece Causa Sui has become a
much revered act on the fertile European psych scene. Many psych- and
stoner-rock bands aim for the perfect imitation of that vintage heavy psych
sound circa 1970, but Causa Sui have forged their own distinct path. Causa
Sui draws on a larger pool than the usual derived exploration of Sabbath
riffs and clichd krautrock jamming. The band always adds untraditional
flavours, past and present, into their seething experimental sound. Causa
Sui's has been described as "the sound of a giant wave rolling up
through the last four decades of rock", which is truer than ever before
regarding this latest, and most ambitious album to date, Euporie Tide Whereas
previous albums were brewed with spontaneity, and flickers of complete
improv, Euporie Tide was meticulously perfected over years of work. Opening
track, Homage, pays tribute to the early 1990s American grunge and
stoner-rock bands the band grew up with. From that point of departure Causa
Sui go on to weave a rich and complex textile, with threads coming from early
1970s electric jazz, post-rock, exotica, heavy rock, raga and all kinds of
psychedelia. When one reaches the multigenre-influenced grooves on side 4
it's obvious that the band has arrived at something that is very relevant in
the present day. The album was recorded and produced by Jonas Munk, crafting
a sound that is simultaneously naturalistic in approach, yet strangely
detailed. The album was mastered in a way as to maintain the full dynamic
range of the recordings |

in Canada and now based in Berlin, having spent time in Los Angeles, Chicago,

artist distilling influences ranging from Techno, Electro, R&B and more
into her own genre-spanning, vocal-driven productions. Following her debut EP
‘Flames’ on Rekids in 2020, which picked up support from the likes of Joy
Orbison, Deetron, and many more, as well as an appearance on Amelie Lens’
Exhale imprint earlier this year, Berlin-based DJ/producer Raven returns to
Radio Slave’s imprint once again with the fierce ‘Mania’ 12”. With ‘Flames’
featuring five original tracks, Raven narrows her focus on ‘Mania’, turning
in two killer techno cuts backed with alternative mixes of each. Leading the
A side is ‘Nobody’, a hypnotic late-night affair peppered with emotive vocal
hooks and trippy synth leads, followed by the ‘Sudden Urges’ mix, which sees
the track stripped of its pulsing 4/4 and replaced with haunting

Out Recordings proudly presents Argentinian guitarist Agustín Pereyra
Lucena’s 1980 album La Rana. Recorded in Oslo, La Rana features Agustín’s
stunning takes on compositions by Ivan Lins, Antonio Carlos Jobim and
Agustín’s friend and musical hero Baden Powell. In addition to these, and a
number of Agustín’s own compositions including the fifteen-minute masterpiece
“Encuentro De Sombras”, the album’s title track is an idiosyncratic version
of Joao Donato’s “A Rã” (Eng: The Frog/ Esp: La Rana) from his 1973 album
Quem É Quem. Forming the rest of the quartet are two fellow Argentinians who
were also Agustin’s bandmates from the group Candeias: bassist and
multi-instrumentalist Guillermo Reuter and flautist Ruben Izarrualde; with
Norweigan drummer Finn Sletten on drums and percussion. Throughout La Rana we
hear not only Agustín’s fabled guitar playing, which ascended him to share
stages with the likes of Vinicius de Moraes, Dorival Cayymi, Toquinho, Maria
Bethania, Chico Buarque and Quarteto Em Cy, but also his talent as a
vocalist. He also provided the heartening illustration for the cover art,
which perfectly fits the cordial, inviting tone of the music. Inspired in
equal measure by South American rhythms and Norweigan glaciers, mountains and
waterfalls, La Rana is filled with the warmth, humility and sincerity of a
man seizing a joyful moment in life through music |

once again why he is one of the most innovative techno artists in the world
with new album Boavista. The expressive 17 track full length lands on
Herzblut Recordings on October 8th 2021 and is proceeded by lead single
'Boavista' on the Afterlife label. German icon Stephan Bodzin is globally
recognised on a number of fronts - his live show is one of techno's most
celebrated, his productions constantly push the genre forward with his own
trademark sound. He has put out well-received solo long players Liebe Ist and
Powers of Ten as well as worked on many other iconic projects under a range
of aliases. In the last year, Stephan had the chance to look back on the vast
archives of music he has recorded but never finished. While spending time in
Brazil, he picked his 25 favourites and finished them properly, with the best
17 making up Boavista. His simple aim was to tell stories with each track, to
paint musical pictures that conjure up very real emotions in the listener. As
always, playing the album live was in the back of Bodzin's mind throughout
the creative process. This means each track is a powerful piece that is both
emotional and honest, physical and straightforward, but also true to the
authentic Bodzin sound. The lack of DJ gigs and club experienceshad no impact
on the music: Stephan has long since done his own thing and has never tried
to conform to expectations. And so it proves. The album kicks off with the
lush 'Earth' which pays homage to all the elements of life - water, fire,
wind, as well as time, light and the rotation of the planet. 'LLL' is an
electronic lullaby track defined by a sense of love for the people in
Stephan's life and 'Astronautin' has a lead synth that came about after
Stephan's daughter said she would like to be an astronaut when she grows up.
It truly takes you to the stars before the simple but effective melodic
patterns of the title track light up a night sky with real hope. Elsewhere
there 'Infinite Monkey' which was a freeform jam that was led by the music
itself, the epic pads of 'Dune' and interstellar explorations of the more
thoughtful and melancholic 'Cooper Station’. 'Nothing Like You' was written
in a hotel room before Stephan's last pre-lockdown gig, then 'Isaac' is
another powerful journey through space and time, different worlds and
alternative realities. Further hypnotising highlights come from the soft
melodies but powerful basslines of 'Collider', the expansive synths of
'Trancoso' and the delicate beauty of 'Ataraxia', which references German
composer Klaus Doldinger who was a huge influence on Stephan's understanding
of melodies and harmonics. 'Breathe' is a second spindling vocal track
featuring Luna Semara next to 'Nothing Like You' and closer 'Rose' isa
heartbreaking piano piece. Boavista is another exquisitely crafted album of
rich, synth-heavy electronic music that takes you into new worlds of emotion
and leaves you in awe |

The opening track sets the tone for what to expect in the next twenty
minutes: 16T50 is like the soundtrack of a spaceship escaping from a cosmic
imperial incident, trying to dodge the unknown anti-pleasures lurking in
every corner of the dark nebula. RSZALCAXN then creates a strong
gravitational field of confidence with its heavyweight instrumentation,
sending the message that the desertion mission was successful but staying
vigilant is still inevitable. CT Kidobo picks up where the Frenchman named
after the wild vortex left off: the ever-tense Dark City wraps itself around
a single powerful and metallic leitmotif, holding our attention while William
Gibson nods appreciatively in the background, on the autumn streets drenched
in tired neon lights. Finally, the Primer, which starts airy and gradually
thickens, brings the calm and release we have been longing for all along, but
which may not last long in this universe constantly shaped by gargantuan
forces |

compilation. Crunching drums thump away with distinct rhythmic funk and
groove, with an addictive syncopated snare propelling the track to a
screeching acidic synth line at the track's half-way point. The punishment
continues through to A2 track "Linebacker", previously released on
NYC party-starters Whirlwind Trax's VA celebrating 3 years of Brooklyn rave
The Black Hole. A cheeky synth line bubbles underneath swung yet aggressive
drum rhythms in another slab of distorted dance-floor machine funk. The
B-side turns attention to three tracks from 138 member DJ Angeldu$t's 2020
solo cassette "Menace To Sobriety Vol. 1". The B1 gets straight to
the point with "Fuck That Shit", a certified gravely electro killer
with brazen drum overdrive and fluttering bleeps and vocal sampling that goes

The
short, mysterious career of the female French duo Deux Filles is bookended by
tragedy. Gemini Forque and Claudine Coule met as teenagers at a holiday
pilgrimage to Lourdes, during which Coule’s mother died of an incurable lung
disease and Forque’s mother was killed and her father paralyzed in an auto
accident. The two teens bonded over their shared grief and worked through
their bereavement with music. However, after recording two critically
acclaimed albums and playing throughout Europe and North America, Forque and
Coule disappeared without a trace in North Africa in 1984 during a trip to
visit Algiers. The short and terribly unhappy lives of Forque and Coule are
at the root of the small but fervent cult following the mysterious duo have
gained since their disappearance, not least because the placid, largely
instrumental music on the duo’s albums betrays no hint of the sorrow that
framed their personal lives. This would be a terribly sad story if a word of
it were true. In reality, Deux Filles were Simon Fisher Turner, former child
star/teen idol and future soundtrack composer, and his mate Colin Lloyd
Tucker. Turner and Tucker left an early incarnation of The The in 1981 to
pursue another musical direction. Turner claims that the idea of Deux Filles
came to him in a dream, and he and Tucker strictly maintained the fiction
throughout the duo’s career. Not only did they pose in drag for the album
covers, the duo once even played live without the audience realizing that the
tragic French girls on-stage were actually a pair of blokes from south
London. Deux Filles released two albums through Turner and Tucker’s Papier
Mache label, 1982’s “Silence & Wisdom” and 1983’s “Double Happiness”.
Both albums are included here and blend watery piano, occasionally ghostly
vocals, sheets of synthesizers, heavily processed guitars and the barest
minimum of percussion. Drifting and wistful, they’re a pair of lost ambient
gems from a time when the genre had yet to mature, an excellent example of
post-Eno, pre-Orb ambient music. All songs have been remastered for vinyl by
George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The vinyl comes housed in
gatefold sleeve with original front covers of both albums, and a centerfold
of archive images and the original liner notes. Each LP includes a sticker of
the Lino cuts by Adrian Gill that was included with the original pressing.

Pavel
Fedoseev is KIKOK. As one of the few remaining members of the Komi tribe, he
used the Komi words Ki (= arm) and Kok (= leg) as his brandname "Pretty
important elements for a human being, aren't they?" he says of the name.
Born in Kudymkar (capital of the Komi-Permyak nation) , now lives in Perm, no
less than a 22-hour train journey east of Moscow, placing Fedoseev in what,
he says, feels like cultural and social isolation.This 10 track album acts as
a means to escape the monotonous cycle of his hometown. The end result is a
record that sounds both propulsive and hypnotic, an album that sounds like
moving forward and in circles at the same time. Rich lashings of synthesisers
pulse over beats that switch between techno thump and restrained ambience,
with tracks seamlessly moving from dance floor stomp to woozy comedown
let-up. Russian Rave Pop at it's best. Perm is a disgusting city," says
KIKOK's Pavel of his hometown. "It's dirty, boring and rough. I'm afraid
of walking outside; that's why I sit at home and watch movies and make
