Witchcraft has resurrected three
songs from a 2017 recording session that include an alternate version of the
title track from that same year’s “Diablerie” demo and two
previously-unreleased songs. The four tracks included from Perverted Ceremony
were originally intended to be released as a demo, but it was later decided
that they would better serve as the band´s contribution to a split |

2021 repress / generic sleeve -
Hypnus is pleased to present the first solo EP by the talented Primal Code.
Following their much appreciated debut album "La Via della Seta";
"Caimano Tribe" takes their sound and the label's visual expression
to a new level as we dive deep into quirky terrains. The record is divided
into four cuts with beats broken and speed altered in varying degree. From
the suggestively alluring dance floor entrancer "Caimano Tribe" to
the sparse, jungle prowling "Mutara Speech" and onward to the
B-side which guides the listener deeper into the caiman swamps. Supported by
Claudio PRC, Ness, Svreca, TM404, A Sacred Geometry, Amandra and Etapp Kyle
to name a few |

2021 repress / comes in original
sleeve + dl code - [KRTM] is back with a solo EP for SSSPCR005. These new
tracks are diving further into the vast spectrum of electronic music with an
obsessive, yet playful tone. Although, throughout the entirety of this
record, deranged and demented tendencies are hiding underneath the layers of
electrical grain. On this edition's artwork, Casimir is collaborating with
the illustrator and graphic virtuoso Lukas Verstraete, forming a series of
energetic and radical drawings covering the narrative nature of these tracks.

Brighton-based producer Rene Wise is next to land on Setaoc Mass' SK11_X
offshoot, coming off the back of a batch of releases on Luke Slater's
respected Mote Evolver imprint and a recent collaboration with Rodhad, with his
own purist take on groovy yet hypnotic, minimal techno. Wise offers four
variations of precision-drilled rolling club-tools, first with the
static-charged, tribal calls of "Pleasure Note", to the bouncier,
groove-laced "Swamp Dancer". On the flip side, "Hollow"
focuses the intensity, whilst "Changa" completes the home-straight
with its boundless energy and delirium inducing synth parts |

"Daevas", meaning
divinities of chaos and disorder in the Zoroastrian faith, is the combined
effort of SARIN x SCARLIT PORT recorded in Berlin during the lockdown of
2020. The six-track, 30-minute EP is a winding journey that dives into both
artists' shared Persian heritage by referencing ancient pagan Gods, mysticism
and the more recent tragic histories of colonialism, dictatorships, longing
and a sense of being uprooted. These unwinding stories and artefacts are
imprinted within a dark cascade of sounds, incorporating and combining each
artist's influences to create a total work that encompasses elements of
techno body music, acid, industrial and the subtle application of more
traditional Persian musical forms |

2021 repress / comes in original
sleeve - It's a big pleasure for us to welcome back Mario to the label after
a long while. He delivers four raw cuts of harsh techno, crude, direct to the
bone but always with a wise use of the elements to make things intelligent
and intrincated. First cut "Pattern execution" proves all this as a
statement. Obsessive sequences, distorted groove elements, tension all over
an ever changing arrangement. "Path of authority" reminds the early
Birmingham days, again using distortion as weapon. Bringing the heritage of
the best records from the nineties to this dystopian present we live in.
"Balance of power" runs over similar parameters than the previous
two, increasing the BPM rate and delivering more intricate sequence lines and
paranoia. "Frontline" closes this crude exercise, still fast, still
hard but yet mental and futuristic |

Reaching
out after a year of roller-coasting through new normals and perhaps solitude
is none other than Suolo and his latest offspring - Detalii. The annual
Capodopere outing is led by two lone crafters on a common mission, Crihan
minding a full on attention-to-detail remix. Still loyal to his roots and his
original take on electronic music, Suolo takes time to develop his track-long
thought. His usual by now takeover of side A results in somewhat of a scenic
progression and a floating state of mind. One can always wander around his
back-catalog, with no much hassle in immersing within his grand formula of
sound. Lead by both rounds of echoing slashes and twinkling lumps of
feather-soft melodies, Detalii at its 10 minutes is nothing short of
downhill-ing between parallel worlds. Conservative in his approach, he still
keeps one’s ears at the gateway of imagination, welding an organic middle
with its synthetic outskirts. Is it the glory that Detalii comes with? Or his
domesticated vocals in between the deep-watered repetitive hits? We’re still
untangling the ends for the full picture. By this time, the anticipation of
Crihan’s body of work becomes something touchable. One might have pictured
something around Alin’s palettes of vibrations but he can be a plot twister |

Myk Derill is an integral part of
the Knotweed family, producing music for the label since its inception in
2011. The funky bulldozer of techno (as some like to call him) created three
tracks especially for our tenth birthday: bass-heavy, cold and groovy,
minimal and funky at the same time: thank you Myk! We are celebrating 10
years of Knotweed Records, exploring different shades of techno! |

Francesco
Farfa has got his groove back, leading to Danza Tribale number 10. In recent
times, the Italian DJ has found himself re-energised once again, back in love
with electronic music and right back at the sharp end of the underground
scene. A true digger and sound obsessive, Farfa comes armed with decades of
experience and musical appreciation, but now with a fresh perspective that
means he is once again doing what he does best: turning musical emotions and
compelling rhythms into dance floor art. Reminiscences Nottetempo represents
the soul of a dreamer, who often collides with his memories hidden in the
fog: basically what they are. "I have been living the night for many
years and not only because of my passion for clubbing, but also because I am
a wandering insomniac. In the nocturnal phase, when awake, this fog clears up
and suggests thoughts that, digging into the maze of memory, bring you
solutions that fill latent gaps" 'Il Bosco Delle lucciole' is a vision
of dark energy illuminated by living forms, electrons of which everything is
composed, as well as the space in which we vibrate. 'Novanta' is pure
reminiscence, an abstract flashback to the origins of a movement that is
consolidated as a "unique" phenomenon of the 20th century. It is a
song that smells of that memorable era which, fortunately, is positively
influencing the new generations |

On
Back Up: Mexican Tecno Pop, Dark Entries brings us 10 divergent tracks of
Mexican electronics from 1980-1989, full of skittering analog drum boxes and
saucy synthesizer hooks. 8 of these songs were culled from the 2005 CD-only
compilation Backup: Expediente Tecno Pop on AT-AT records. Also included are
two previously unreleased cuts. This release marks the first time many of
these songs will have appeared on vinyl; it is also the first ever vinyl
compilation of Mexican New Wave and post-punk. While synth pop and obscure
electronics from Europe and the United States have been extensively
documented, much less attention has been paid to such offerings from the
periphery. Back Up serves as a vital document of Mexico’s flourishing DIY
scene in the 1980’s, surveying a wide range of styles and moods. By using
home recording techniques, the bands featured here were able to circumvent
relying on the expensive studios of the era. Tracks by Avant Garde, Vandana,
and Silueta Pálida mine the kind of dreary-but-infectious wave that long-time
Dark Entries fans will celebrate. Meanwhile, Volti and Artefacto offer a
floor-ready pop sound that has echoes of NY freestyle, with Latin percussion
and boxy beats. But darker turns are present as well, with Década 2’s New
Beat-inflections and electro experiments of Syntoma and their side project
Escuadrón Del Ritmo. Back Up: Mexican Tecno Pop was remastered by George Horn
at Fantasy Studios. The sleeve is a neon retro-futurist design by Gwenaël
Rattke. Also included is a 12-page booklet printed on neon green, pink, and
orange paper, which features photographs, band biographies, lyrics, and liner
notes |

The
record follows a majestic appearance on the Tresor 30 anniversary compilation
and his expert devotion to the Roland TB-303, Filo Loves The Acid. True to
form, 124 meddles sharp rhythmic minimalism and diverse textures, each track
pushing at the epiphanic threshold as the boss of Spazio Disponibile allows
his deeply intuitive productions to take effect. messy kafka world introduces
a frenetic and concentrated atmosphere of rhythmic forces, hallucinatory and
euphoric in effect. Its dizzying staccato loops are given structure by
strengthening beats and bleak synthetic pillars. synthi chase emits radical
powers, as buzzing rhythms and monotone synths make raw gestures towards
altered states. It shares a kindred spirit with cassiopeia 36, seen in particular
through its determined and primitive pulses, nested within wobbling wood
percussion and nervous synth repetitions. wooden dolls don’t cry stamps a
warm groove, its tempered percussion taking centre stage as shimmering
melodic loops threaten spiralling feedback. These dark, hypnotic tracks are
flawlessly programmed to cast mesmeric momentums onto club floors and into
loosened limbs. 124 represents Donato Dozzy ever-expanding his powers and
musical freedom. His innate groove and inventive sound design push minimal
and serene techno with a substantial weight and voice that sets him apart
from others |

September 2021 will see the
release on Bobo Integral Records of our new Canadian favorite band's debut
album: 'Surrounded'. We all love when a contemporary band presses the right
buttons. Motorists here seamlessly absorb the magical era of what happened in
the frontiers of punk. They insert jangly power pop melodies (think of The
Records, Shoes, 20/20, Phil Seymour, The Nerves and Flamin' Groovies) into
post-punk madness (of when Gang of Four, Wire, The Fall and The Pop Group
ruled the underground world) and emerge victorious. The Soft Boys will
acknowledge someone finally took their witness |

what would become their punishing sound. Recorded just one month after the
birth of the band at one of their very first rehearsals, "Procreation of

stage. 8 tracks of pure unaltered mayhem, everything that would make them
legendary is already here, proving once again why they've been such a huge

Aparato
Raro' album was originally released in 1985 and is one of the most revered
records in Chile, with its 10 new wave / techno pop influenced tracks.
Aparato Raro's (Santiago, Chile) techno pop influenced debut album created a
sound with synthesizers as their basic instrument, that was something new for
Chile. With the college and intellectual circuits as their fan base, the
album had radio hits such as 'Calibraciones' and 'Ultimatum', that became
80-s rock classics in the country. A must for every serious 80's Latin rock
collector. Band members: Igor Rodríguez, vocals, keyboards (1985 - 1988)
Boris Sazunic, guitar, keyboards (1985 - 1986) Rodrigo Aboitiz, keyboards
(1985 - 1988) Juan Ricardo Weiler, drums (1985 - 1986) Mauricio Guerrero,

it comes to defining a sub-genre. The band featured Brian McMahan who went on

has done many good things since such as Ariel M, Papa M as well as being in
Tortoise for a bit. He was also a member of Billy Corgan's Zwan |

One of the last great albums of
the first wave of Peruvian rock, originally released in 1974, linking
psych-tinged rock with Afro-Latin American beats and folk pop. This first
record by (former Traffic Sound and Los Nuevos Shain's member) Zulu was also
his last and one of the most enigmatic albums released in Peru in the 0s, as
the artist vanished into the religious path, making sure his music got as
unnoticed as possible... Reissued for the first time with the collaboration
of Zulu, including extensive liner notes and one extra track |

Ten
years ago, Acid Test began with a simple concept—each track the label
released would make use of the Roland TB-303. Like a producer purposefully
paring down their studio setup, or the continuous imperative within
underground electronic music to reduce, this concept engendered creativity
with the introduction of what seemed to be an aesthetic limit. However, the
decade that followed, which now culminates in the triple-LP compilation Ten
Years Of Acid Test, proves acid is limitless. That the Berlin-via-LA label
would expand upon the classical conception of acid house and techno is no
surprise considering the cast of characters that have come in fold over the
past decade. Ten Years Of Acid Test gathers key material from the label’s
extended family of acid acolytes. There’s that Vienna-via-LA maestro of sad,
elegant acid Tin Man (Johannes Auvinen), whose “Afters Acid” is both a
highlight within his prolific catalogue and a distillation of his symphonic
approach to the 303. Detroit giants Erika and Marcellus Pittman, both of whom
have released remixes on Acid Test, present their respective and singular
Bass Line visions. Erika, the Interdimensional Transmissions lynchpin, crafts
a dark, delicate take on broken techno on “Violet Fungus” while Pittman continues
his cubist house explorations on “Unknown Species,” both tracks straying from
typical acid lines in favor of the intricate textures achievable on the 303.
This variation in approach applies to tempo as well. Irish-based master
Lerosa, as well as Delsin affiliate VC-118A, delve into |

Marcel Records emerges from the
suburbs of Ghent releasing the debute EP of Vectrex, titled Hype Suffocation.
Using different bpm’s, electronic styles and various sampled sources Vectrex
creates one fluent trip ranging from dusty hihat loops over soothing guitars
into biting basslines. All this while keeping the pulse of underground in
mind. Hype suffocation consists of music created between 2007- 2014. It is
both a reflection on that period and a questioning on contemporary mass
consumption of music, where the artistic individual and the music gets
devoured mindlessly neglecting its deeper subconscious state. Vectrex
strongly believes in that state where we as humans can perceive certain
ambiences and emotions, which can enrich our minds into a deeper level of
consciousness. Because of constant exposure to bombardments of
(dis)information, cultivation of fear and oppression we humans get
disconnected from this deeper state |

This
October, LaFontaine and Orbe drop the seventh chapter of Mote-Evolver's
'Parallel Series', curated by label founder Luke Slater. After the first
release by Luke Slater (as L.B.Dub Corp) and ASC in 2011, the 'Parallel
Series' has continued to host split releases from the likes of Shifted, Rene
Wise, Billy Turner, Bas Mooy, Developer, Truncate, Sev Dah, Jeff Rushin, and
more. The seventh instalment on Mote-Evolver sees 199X Recordings founder
LaFontaine debut on the label following releases on Planet X and Negativ
Notion. Kicking off the release is '3015', a track that immediately captured
the ears of Slater after Ø [Phase] played it during b2b live stream in his
studio. The resonating kicks, detuned synths and off-kilter sonics pulsate
strikingly throughout before 'Kokkur' keeps the hypnotic energy flowing with
aquatic fx, deep space pads and oscillating grooves. Fernando Sanz and his
Orbe Records imprint has been lashing the block-rocking techno of Sanz's
comrades Eduardo De La Calle and Steve Stoll, but mainly of Sanz's prolific
moniker, Orbe. He provides murky soundscapes, smoky chords and orbiting drums
in his '9DVR' cut until 'Trimax' rounds off the release with kinetic synth
flutters and glistening bleeps that ebb and flow with the ghostly atmospheres |

Inside
The Microbeat' is the long-awaited debut album by Sync 24. London's Phil
Bolland, known as Sync 24 has been flying the electro flag for over two
decades via his popular Scand parties and beloved Cultivated Electronics
label which he launched in 2007 as a direct response to the dwindling electro
scene in the UK at the time. The label has gone on to feature many of his own
releases, his collaborations with the likes of Silicon Scally (Carl Finlow),
DMX Krew (they collaborate as MMT-8), The Exaltics and Morphology as well as
playing host to many of electro's leading lights, eventually becoming
instrumental to the scene's resurgence in more recent years. Now it's time to
turn the spotlight firmly on his solo work. Across it's eleven tracks 'Inside
The Microbeat' is not just a collection of 12"s although tracks like the
album's name sake, 'Oriental Sunset', 'Drunk on Delays' and 'Lightwire' are
firmly primed for the dance floor, there's also more experimental beat-work
like 'Inspired Law' and 'Sluper Smashed', or retro electronica like 'Haunt
Times' and 'Spatial Racing', as Bolland drives you through his own intimately
constructed landscape |

For Delft-based label Omen
Wapta's first release, Japanese musician/sound designer/coder/producer
JEMAPUR explores the far reaches of abstract experimental techno on his album
Mode Cleaner. Pulling from music made between 2016 and 2020, JEMAPUR
demonstrates his distinctive use of glitch, microsampling, live coding, and
granular synthesis techniques. The album was made when the producer was drawn
to subjects like physics, geometry, murals, ancient civilisations, the logic
of nature, and the observation of the universe |

Plant43
is releasing his next album, Scars Of Intransigence, on Shipwrec in autumn
2014. An associate of labels like CPU, Semantica, the late Ai Records and
Frustrated Funk, Plant43 has been producing since 2006 and has released more
than 70 tracks, equally inspired by the 80's electro of his youth and the
Drexcyian sounds of the 90's. He has a strong artistic vision and that plays
out in this carefully crafted album, which has been written as a coherent
story that unfolds from start-to-finish. Rather than being purely a
collection of DJ tools, Scars Of Intransigence has also been made with the
home listening experience in mind so that the album works in both contexts
equally well. Kicking off with 'Dormant Technology', a liquid electro funk is
set in motion immediately. From there the tempo drops into the doleful and
sombre 'Unnamed Resistance' before 'Cavernous Bones' explores deeply emotive
electro, 'Fire Burning Inside' demonstrates Emile's ability to programme a
hugely resonant synth line and 'The Coldest Rule' then comes on like a
dystopian vision of an unsettled underwater world. 'Wounding Words' is a
tentative track that is imbued with a real musicality as well as ponderous
sense of cerebral charm and closing tracks 'Emerald Abyss' and 'Pale Reflection'
are fantastic offerings that glow with a retro charm at the same time as
pushing electro well into the future |

We are delighted to share you
that Taupe releases on Deeptrax' Tech-um label. After releasing on Indigo
Aera's AE-X and Impress records in Berlin, Taupe launched his own
recordlabel: Colours Records. On 'Two sides of the same coin' EP, Taupe
displays his dualistic take on the techno genre, celebrating both its beauty
and ruggedness. With the Detroitish opener 'Altum', Taupe guides the listener
into a blissful rabbit hole, filled with dreamlike-arpeggiators and pounding
rhythms, bringing ultimo sci-fi sounds from far away. 'Shimmer' brings subtle
acidic squelches, crisp hats and modulating synths paving the way into
destination unknown. On the B-side, Taupe takes a sudden left into more dark
terrain. The menacing 'Joker' teases, agitates but ultimately drives you into
a Dionysian state of madness which reminds us of Jeff Mills his fierce Axis
stuff. Lastly, 'Black Box' will make sure that any residual ounce of energy
in your body will get extracted with this vein 303 styled monster track! |

Having stepped into fourth year
of existence the factory of Depth.Request manufactures an article in form of
an EP titled "Night Wounds Time" produced by British-born
underground scene veteran Mahk Rumbae under the guise Antechamber, which - in
slight contrast to his arguably better known alias Codex Empire - he
ostensibly reserves for a more dysfunctional brand of electronic music
intended as much for frantic terpsichorean participation as for contemplating
the inevitable under the gloom of moonless nights. In line with offbeat
nature of sounds presented, the release gives a subtle nod to Tod Phillips'
literary work "A Humument", borrowing its name and track titles
from the lines within the idiosyncratic book |

All Nations Records come again
with a proper 7inch full of roots flavour. The man at the control of the
label, Simon Nyabinghi, here calls out the talent of Belgium producer
Unlisted Fanatic who deliver once again a heavy riddim track, topped up by
some deep horns arrangement from the Moonshine Horns. The riddim is
sufficient by itself so when you hear the deep melodical voice of MariJah on
it with her uplifting lyrics hailing for more consciousness in this world, it
ends up with a wonderful tune that surely will convince every great selector
to put it on their deck now and for years to come. Once again, just flip the
records over to get the full dub treatment. This is roots dub music at its
best |

Cultural
polymath - pop star, filmmaker, radio broadcaster, commentator, Grammy
winner. Oh and DJ, too. Take your pick from the many coats worn by our
selector, Don Letts aka The Rebel Dread. Born in Brixton, a child of the
Windrush Generation, Letts’ slippery and unorthodox career is somewhat hard
to define, without taking a few detours around London, New York and Jamaica.
He began his working life managing the dauntingly hip Acme Attractions on
Chelsea’s Kings Road, where he made a mark with his attitude, dress and,
especially, the pounding dub reggae that vibrated the shop’s walls. His first
gig as a DJ at the short-lived Roxy in Neal Street, became mythical for
turning a generation of punks on to reggae. They in turn hipped him to their
DIY ethos resulting in his reinvention as a filmmaker. This led to a
shed-load of music videos (Linton Kwesi Johnson, The Clash, Bob Marley) not
to mention documentaries on the likes of Gil Scott-Heron, George Clinton and
Sun Ra. In the ’80s, he was part of Mick Jones’ new venture, Big Audio
Dynamite and his innovative use of samples were a core part of their sound.
Listeners of his weekly 6 Music radio show are taken on a musical safari that
moves seamlessly between time, space and genre. It’s not called Culture Clash
Radio for nothing. So this latest bulletin from Letts HQ is merely one angle
of a multifaceted personality, his take on the JA tradition of the cover
version. The history of Caribbean music owes a debt to R&B as many of the
early island releases were cover versions of US 45s. Ska’s breakthrough
commercially, Millie Small’s ‘My Boy Lollipop’, was originally recorded by
Barbie Gaye in ’50s New York. Cover versions became quite a thing in Jamaica
and Don, following in that tradition, has dug deep with a selection of
interesting dubbed out covers including thirteen exclusives. “A disciple of
sound system, raised on reggae n’ bass culture my go to sound was dub.
Besides being spacious and sonically adventurous at the same time, its most
appealing aspect was the space it left to put yourself ‘in the mix’
underpinned by Jamaica’s gift to the world - bass. But that’s only half the
story as the duality of my existence meant I was also checking what the
Caucasian crew were up to not to mention the explosion of black music coming
in from the States. That’s why this version excursion crosses time space and
genre, from The Beach Boys to The Beatles, Nina Simone to Marvin Gaye, The
Bee Gees to Kool & The Gang, The Clash to Joy Division and beyond. You’d
think it impossible to draw a line between ‘em but not in my world.
Fortunately, the ‘cover version’ has played an integral part in the evolution
of Jamaican music and dub covers were just a natural extension.” There’s a
diverse mix of classic and new, with legendary figures like John Holt, The
Tamlins and Cornell Campbell, mixed in with British veterans Mad Professor
and the irrepressible Dennis Bovell, while (relatively) young striplings Kiko
Bun, Emily Capell and Prince Fatty deliver the goods, with laidback Texan
groovers Khruangbin also offering an exclusive bass heavy-delight. The song
choices are diverse, from French dubsters’ OBF’s renditions of ‘Sixteen
Tons’, the miners’ paean popularised by Tennessee Ernie Ford in the 1950s, to
Ash Walker’s refix of Omar’s ‘There’s Nothing Like This’ and ‘All I Do Is
Think About You’, immortalised by the ill-fated Tammi Terrell and preserved
here by Quantic (the latter two both exclusives). Being a Rebel Dread
compilation, there’s a cover (by Wrongtom Meets The Rockers) of The Clash’s
‘Lost In The Supermarket’ while Don’s exclusive, naturally, is a rendition of
Big Audio Dynamite’s debut hit, ‘E = MC2’. “Truth be told I’ve wanted to work
with the Late Night Tales crew from the get go. We’re talking nearly two
decades such was the allure of their musical aesthetic typified by curators
like Nightmares on Wax, The Flaming Lips, MGMT, Trentemoller, Khruangbin and
countless others. Now being as old as rock n’roll (born in ‘56) and having
nearly 20 years of Culture Clash Radio under my belt I figured I was tooled
up to musically juggle with the best of ‘em. But I wanted to carve out a
space that was distinctly my own - something that reflected my musical
journey and the culture clash that’s made me the man I am today.” |

Three years in the making,
Netflix’s Yasuke is a six-episode anime series created by Bronx-bred and
Japan-based television animation creator, producer, and director LeSean
Thomas (Cannon Busters, Children of Ether, The Boondocks) and starring actor
/ executive producer LaKeith Stanfield (Atlanta, Sorry To Bother You) as the
voice of the title character. Yasuke tells the story of a samurai warrior of
African descent in a fantastical alternate universe version of feudal Japan
full of magic, mechs, and of course, swordplay. A dream project for the
producer, Flying Lotus consulted on the story, working alongside renowned
anime creators Studio MAPPA as an executive producer on the
project.Hybridizing synth melodies, bass lines and machine generated drum patterns
while exploring new sonic territory, traditional Japanese percussion
instruments like the taiko and hy?shigi and west African percussion, a nod to
the Afro-Japanese, feudal yet futuristic world Yasuke inhabits |

So
many of us head back out into the world post-lockdown, with a different
perspective on the overpowering nature of it. Nothing Feels Like Everything,
looks deeply at how the absence of something can be just as overwhelming,
whether the absence of physical contact, the absence of love, the absence of
empathy and respect. This album places gentleness beside power and cacophony
to recreate the vast swings of emotion experienced in isolation. When nothing
can be too much, while at the same time, all we want. The sixth studio album
from Scrimshire is an atmospheric and emotional experience. Moments of
swirling orchestral energy perfectly countered by quiet, meditative calm.
Moving string arrangements sit alongside delicate synthesiser-soaked rhythms.
After huge collaborations with Emma-Jean Thackray, Omar, Georgia Anne
Muldrow, Ego Ella May and many more on previous records, with only four vocal
contributions this time, it is his most instrumental exploration to date. But
those few vocal contributions are captivating. From the opening explosion of
UK jazz and soul legend Cleveland Watkiss, with a powerfully clear call on
behalf of the marginalised and oppressed in society to the deeply intimate
and supportive incantations of Ursula Rucker. No word is wasted here. The
record carries on a tradition of collaboration, with contributions from
Jessica Lauren, Idris Rahman (Soothsayers, Wildflower, Ill Considered), Nat
Birchall, Huw Marc Bennett, Miryam Solomon, Emanative and recent Albert's
Favourites signing Pie Eye Collective. In fact, the phone calls that led to
these songs are in many ways the power of it. Reaching out across long
distances, through conversations to find meaning in difficult times, and then
capture those feelings in music. The process being a therapeutic experience
that is now present in the sounds |

The
first album of Web Web is very uncut, raw, live and direct. Oracle is the
first output of a German Supergroup. Check the musician credits below and
you'll get the score. The initial idea was to record a spiritual-jazz type of
album, with all its imperfection as far as intonation, sound, influences of
tunes... just like from their big jazz-heroes in the 70ies (e.g. Strata East,
Black Jazz). Web Web's idea was to record a jazz jam session while to found
and proclaim being a fictive band, a formation, which did not exist, while
telling people, it would be a secret jam session recording of the Seventies.
The prompt problem they were facing: Oh, we never would be able to play
concerts, doing interviews, or placing photos on sleeves or post likeness
images online. So they decided to reveal their real identities: Web Web are:
Roberto Di Gioia (Piano, Synth, Percussion), Tony Lakatos (Tenor- and
Sopranosaxophone), Christian von Kaphengst (Upright Bass) and Peter Gall
(Drums). Roberto Di Gioia (Mastermind of Web Web): - The four of us set up
very close in a big room, so we could hear and feel each other the best way.
The music became more intensive, improvisations became more dynamic and it
was impulsive . The album Oracle' was recorded on one day, only first takes
were used! We want to keep the burning spirit and the loose vibe we had
during the recording session. And we play concerts the wild and free way we
recorded this album. Web Web will be on tour 2018, but playing a few concerts
in 2017. Furthermore, one main decision to blab their real identities was:
The second Web Web album is recorded in June (with guests like the famous and
unique Gembri-player and multiinstrumentalist and singer Majid Bekkas from
Morocco). Both albums were engineered, recorded and mixed by Jan Krause
(Beanfield, Poets Of Rhythm). Roberto Di Gioia: - Tony was tuning his Soprano
too high, and his (overdubbed) tenor way too flat! My synthesizers were
somewhere in between...HA! We exactly had the sound we had in our minds, we
had it exactly there were we wanted it: a bit of Sun Ra here, a bit of Horace
Tapscott there. On some tunes Tony's soprano just sounds like a trumpet,
since due to his weird tuning the soprano develops different frequencies in
relation to other instruments. Oracle' is the first live jazz release on

Gondwana Records are delighted to
announce parts 3 and 4 of the '7" Series', our first ever 7" vinyl

Daniel Halsall, cut at Calyx in Berlin, and manufactured at Optimal, each
7" is limited to strictly 300 copies and housed in a reverse board
printed sleeve with classic 'dinked' centre holes. Taken from 2013's v2.0,
the Manchester trio's Mercury Prize nominated breakthrough album, this double
A-side banger represents GoGo Penguin at their unmistakable best. Both tracks
are classics and still feature in the band's live sets to this day.
Unmissable. Side A Garden Dog Barbecuefeatures a stonking piano riff over a
frenzied, relentless breakbeat. Side B Hopopono features the bands most

Charlotte
de Witte continues her fantastic year with brand new EP, Asura, on her KNTXT
label. All three of the tracks on this release will be exclusively included
in her BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, which is scheduled to be broadcasted on
18th of September. As well as being back on the road and serving up her
high-intensity DJ sets at the world's best clubs and festivals, Charlotte has
also been busy in other areas. She has forged a new alliance with Apple Music
and is now curating multiple exclusive mix series including a monthly KNTXT
Residency Mix and KNTXT Active, which sees the Belgian artist and her label
further investigate the connections between high-performance music, sports
and BPMs. She has recently remixed the hugely influential trance classic 'The
Age Of Love' by Age Of Love' alongside Enrico Sangiuliano and continues to
A&R essential new tunes for the label. Says Charlotte of this EP,
"with Asura EP I’m trying to give you a little insight into my musical
influences by going back to my roots. We’re speaking about a young Charlotte
who, about 12 / 13 years ago, got indulged in the world of electronic music
by going to her first underground clubs and raves. From electro and techno to
acid core and hardcore to psytrance. This EP flirts with the soundscapes of
the latter." This EP finds Charlotte delve deep into her own past in
electronic music with plenty of psychedelic influences. Opener Asura is a
brightly lit techno track with big chords that bring the colour |

One
half of Thievery Corporation with his solo debut.
After 25 years as the co-founder, writer and producer of the Washington, D.C.
downtempo group Thievery Corporation, Eric Hilton is releasing his first solo
record called Infinite Everywhere. Infinite Everywhere is a trip hop dreamscape
of beautiful melodies and wistful atmospheric instrumentals that stir emotion
and memory. It’s an elegant exploration of inner space that will leave
listeners feeling replenished and centered. While Thievery painted with a
broad musical brush, genre hopping across (and sometimes within) their
albums, Hilton’s solo debut is distilled, focused, and more personal. The
album title and concept pre-dates the current global crisis, but is
remarkably prescient, conveying feelings of melancholia and optimism in equal
measures. This album has three videos to support the release. The first video
for the track, “Infinite Everywhere” premiered on Rolling Stone. The last
Thievery Corporation record, Symphonik, charted at #2 on the Electronic
iTunes Chart. Eric’s side project, Ekhodom, also charted on the electronic
iTunes chart at #12 |

Phantasy are proud to introduce
the first reverberations of a new project from Tunisian multi-instrumentalist
Houieda Hedfi, produced alongside Olof Dreijer, best known for his work in
The Knife and as Oni-Ayhun. Foreshadowing an upcoming full-length album, two
distinctive tracks are accompanied by a remix from Portugese DJ/producer
Nídia.
‘Appel du Danube’ gradually expands from twinkling glass to
lucid strings and classical piano, a startlingly emotive composition that’s
cinematic in scope and ambition. Hedfi and Dreijer both feature on title
track ‘Echos de Medjerda’, inviting listeners to lean into a spacious circle
of percussive sound, conducting a brief journey full of melodic lurches and
static interference, hinting at both magic and menace. Nídia, a key member of
Lisbon’s hugely influential Principe collective, continues the fluid nature
of the project by contributing tarraxo and kuduro influences to the
traditional Tunisian rhythm elements throughout ‘Echos de Medjerda’ |

Phuture
only released a handful of tracks (plus an album a full decade after their
debut), but have remained a legendary act in the development of Chicago house
for their stomping 1987 single "Acid Trax", the track that began
and defined the acid house sound. The group was formed by DJ Pierre,
synthesizer fan Spanky and Herb J in 1985 as a recording entity to produce
records for Pierre to mix into his sets at several crucial Chicago clubs.
After being turned on to the high-pitched squelch of the Roland TB-303
synthesizer (marketed as a bassline machine for solo guitarists), the trio
emerged from the studio with a track they called "In Your Mind".
Ron Hardy previewed the track at his legendary club the Music Box - where it
became known as "Ron Hardy's Acid Track" - and Phuture re-made the
cut with production by Marshall Jefferson. Released on Trax Records in 1987,
the single created a dividing point between the Chicago sound before and
after it, with hundreds of "Acid Trax" imitations flooding the
local market. After it caught on in Britain as well, the single soundtracked
the wave of club madness which coalesced in the rave movement by the end of
the decade |

Begin jaren ‘70 bracht Louisette

There's
something special about old friends making music together. Weleli, originally
released by Victor Diawara under his latest project Afrodelic, carries a deep
and very personal story. It speaks of loss, crucial life decisions and paying
tribute to one's roots. But like every great story, it doesn't stop with
simply being told. And this EP offers four new versions of Weleli,
interpreted and narrated by a good friend of Victor, Ten Walls. It opens with
Remake that maintains the reverie and a certain melancholic peacefulness of
the original. Featuring electric guitar, bass and synths, along with ngoni,
balafon and the Malian children choir, it stays true to the original
Afrodelic style: a mix of African and electronic music. The following
Acoustic Edit is the most serene take on the song of them all. It's a
stripped-down version dedicated to highlight and give space for the vocals,
traditional instruments and percussive elements. Remixes are without a doubt
pieces of Ten Walls creation. The mood changes quite a bit to a colder and
much more aggressive vibe. The faster tempo and heavy synths give the African
elements almost a tribal color, instantly making the song even more
danceable. Remixes is where the song truly shines in new light, making it a
true collaboration combining the talent of both musicians |

Shall Not Fade welcomes Melbourne
based DJ and producer Loure to the family for Memories In Strobes EP, four
tracks of elated and explorative house. The Australian has cultivated an
enigmatic presence with his jazzy, deep-house style, although the listener
will hear hints of influence from electro to breakbeat on the new EP. The
opening track, "Grip", shows off the best of Loure's skills.
Glorious sweeping pads and faded breaks make for a blissed out vibe in this
intricately produced hands-in-the-air favourite. It melts into "Two
Dimes Deep", which continues the spaced-out deep house energy but with
more bite, teasing bits of electro in its firm bassline.
"Inner-Side" is pushed forward by driving house rhythms, covered by
French-style filtered vocals to create a euphoric club track. Closing it out
is "Breath of Light", constructed from a shuffling and constantly
moving beat and euphoric pads which swoop down from above, with a growling
acidic edge battling against them for centre stage |
