It’s going off and The Chisel are back to
cause a bit of bovver. Following a trio of explosive singles, the band
finally bring us their debut full-length album, Retaliation, on the
London-based punk institution La Vida Es Un Mus. Having formed in early 2020
and featuring a crew of members with long-term associations to the London
punk scene, The Chisel quickly secured a reputation as one of the most
exciting bands from a pool of contemporaries that includes Chubby & The
Gang, Stingray and Big Cheese. Their sound is rooted firmly in Punk but with
influences that run across the board to create a distinctive blend of Oi!,
anarcho, UK-82 and hardcore. Retaliation is an unmistakably British record
that draws a line from 1982 up to the present day, pushing its way into your

First album by US hard-rock band
GOLIATH (of Hot Rock & Thunder fame), recorded in 1970 but never released
at the time. Goliath was formed in 1969 when the Sons of Sound, Kicks and the
XL’s dissolved. They were: Steve Peters (drums), Bill Peters (bass), Paul
“Doug” (the Golden Throat) Mason (Hammond B3 Organ), George “Charlie” Egy,
(lead vocals), and George Phelps (guitar). In 1970 they entered Allen-Martin
Studios in Louisville, KY and registered what should have been their first
album. The tapes remained unreleased until the Gear Fab label recovered them
and did a CD edition in 2009. This is classic hard-rock with psych & prog
touches, prominent Hammond organ, hard guitar, melodic vocals… *First ever

First
part of the Drexciya re-issue series! Drexciya might need an introduction for
some, for others it is the most influential techno project ever. Part of the
heritage of Detroit's Underground Resistance, Drexciya explored techno music
like no-one else before. Raw and uncompromising music that reflects the harsh
environment of the city where Drexciya was conceived. The aesthetics and the
mythical approach combined with the unique music made this one of the biggest
cult projects in techno music. Drexciya arguably stands for the darker side
of techno and electro, music not only made for the club scene, but a further
development of the music as an expression and extension of the mind. 20 years
after the release of ''Deep Sea Dweller'' (their first release), and 10 years
after ''Grava 4'' (their last), we present ''Journey Of The Deep Sea
Dweller''. This series is an almost complete collection of their early works,
and is remastered from the original master tapes. Since the original releases
have such a strong character, appeal and stand on their own, this re-issue
can never re-create the magic of those originals. So instead we stirred up
the catalogue taking the tracks out of their original context, giving the 'in
the know' listener a fresh experience and the new listener a document that is
the best possible introduction to the aquatic world of Drexciya |

reggae stars SOJA are back with their first album in 4 years. ‘Beauty In The

creating ‘Beauty In The Silence’ as they explored new sonic terrain,

Ever-evolving
Australian outfit The Posse debut on cult deep house label Pulp with Moods
& Vibrations. Their fresh new four-tracker includes a remix from Space
Ghost. Andrew Elston and Ross Ferraro are the core members of The Posse, but
the group often expands or contracts with various other musicians. Since 2017
they have released on the likes of Plastic World, Ken Oath Records and Kolour
LTD, and bring plenty of Southern Hemisphere heat to all their productions.
'Parting' opens up with plenty of soulful Detroit house flavours. The dusty
drums get you in the groove while subtle acid and silky pads bring a
feel-good, sun-kissed vibe. Remixer Space Ghost is Sudi Wachspress, a real
album specialist who has released on Tartelet and Apron Records. He has a
uniquely lo-fi house sound that draws on funk and soul. This remix is a
late-night jam with gorgeous trumpet motifs and scuffed-up drum patterns all
finished off with warming sunset chords. Then comes 'In Focus', a brilliantly
loose and jazzed-up jam. The skipping drums are run through with playful keys
and humid chords that cannot fail to bring the party. 'Prime Mover' is a
little more direct and dynamic but no less heartfelt, with more expressive
melodies and infectious drums. A liquid Mix of 'Prime Mover' layers in fatter
bass and more crisp percussion to take you to another level. Moods &
Vibrations is an EP of rich, musical house grooves that are overflowing with

Confidential Recipe drops ‘The Bridge EP’ on Radio Slave’s Rekids this
December. Following two stand-out EPs on the techno-focussed Rekids Special
Projects throughout 2021, the Venezuelan-born, Bogota-based Confidential
Recipe readies his debut appearance on parent-label Rekids. With three killer
originals, including a collaboration with Manao and accompanied by a remix
from Gene Richards Jr, the EP solidifies Confidential Recipe’s growing
vitality in the South American techno scene and beyond. ‘Dance’ leads the
‘The Bridge EP’, with commanding vocals, organ licks and knocking drums
preceding a dramatic tempo change in the breakdown. Fresh off the back of
releases Truncate’s WRKTRX, Gene Richards Jr flips ‘Dance’ into a funk-laden
techno pumper, with the vocals sliced and manipulated around fresh dub techno
inspired chords. On the flip, ‘Come (Dub Mix)’ kicks off the B side, marrying
shimmering pads, razor-sharp kicks, and trance-inducing low end for a deep
and rolling cut. Rounding out the EP is ‘Come (Breaks Mix)’ produced in

Records boss Carsten Jost joins Hypallage Project and Potomac to deliver four
hypnotic cuts on their Avant-Propos imprint. Carsten Jost aka David Lieske is
the co-founder of Dial Records, the formidable German record label with
twenty years’ worth of standout releases from artists such as DJ Richard,
Roman Flügel, Efdemin, fellow co-founder Lawrence and Carsten himself to name
a few. ‘Cruise’ EP sees him join the newly formed Parisian imprint from the
Spazio Tempo residents Hypallage Project and Potomac following the first pair
of releases on the imprint that picked up support from the likes of Laurent
Garnier, Oceanic, B.Traits, Conforce and many more. Carsten Jost’s remix of
Hypallage Project’s ‘Cruise’ from the last EP gets things rolling with ethereal
pads, dubtinged atmospheres and glistening melodies which unravel gracefully
throughout before Hypallage Project’s ‘Endless’ continues with absorbing
ambience balancing muddy soundscapes and meditatively, engaging tones. On the
flip, Carsten Jost’s ‘Credit de Cloture’ is a rousing, stripped-back cut
featuring tranquilising synths, serene leads floating above twinkling,
aquatic melodies and deep-riding drums until Potomac rounds off the EP with
‘Gasless Starship’ which beautifully harmonises laid-back, breaky percussion,
sparse modulations and soothing compositions subtly giving off an entrancing

blistering single ‘Deadlock’ and named in the NME 100 for 2021, SCALPING
released their first full body of work, ‘FLOOD’ EP, and now this, ‘FLOOD
REMIXED’, six remixes available on translucent vinyl. ‘FLOOD REMIXED’
continues the band’s stellar trajectory. Over the past few years, they have
become an unmissable live act and gained notoriety as one of the essential,
electrifying new bands in the UK. Scottish post-rock icons Mogwai step up to
remix ‘Cloud Burst’. Stretching and expanding the track, creating new drum
patterns, and continually ratcheting up the drama inherent in the original; a
naturally sensational slab of post-rock. Fellow Bristolian, Hodge remixes
‘Monolithium’, a hybrid of hefty bass, tribal techno and sophisticated,
polyrhythmic drum interplay. The pre-eminent genius, multi-instrumentalist
and composer Laurel Halo supplies a remix of ‘Deadlock’, a single originally

Fünfzehn + 1 is a commemorative compilation celebrating 16 years
of Ostgut Ton – and the first glimpses of light at the end of a long dark
tunnel for parent club Berghain. Originally planned for release in 2020, the
music focuses on the interwoven nature of the label and the club in its
multitude of different spaces and musical facets. Ostgut Ton artists and
close affiliates worked together in pairs to make music dedicated to five
different floors, each represented by a specific 12" vinyl. The result
is a diverse selection of sometimes functional, other times more abstract
sonic tributes; musical homages to spaces they have both influenced and been
influenced by. With the pandemic having forced the club to close temporarily,
the collaborative nature of the 5x12" boxset represents an attempt to
transcend varying degrees of isolation and to wrestle with memories of music
and space that had been inaccessible. But certainly not forgotten |

Johnny
Clarke ruled the Dancehall in the mid 1970’s, using the cleaver 'Flyers
Rhythms' that gave some of his tunes an edge with the Sound Systems. But his
voice was always. bigger than this and his versatility to sing a wide range
of vocal styles, has seen him cut through the decades as one of Reggae’s best
voices. Johnny Clarke (b.1955.Jamaica) cut his musical teeth at the age of
seventeen, recording his first song ‘God made the sea and sun’ for Producer
Clancy Eccles. A low-key release but one that led to Johnny catching Producer
Rupie Edwards eye, when he appeared at a talent contest at Bull Bay.
Impressed by his voice both live and on disc, Rupie cut a few tunes with
Johnny, ’Don’t Go Julie’ and ‘Everyday Wondering’ the latter of which had
success not only in Jamaica, but also in the UK reggae market. The back bones
of ‘Everyday Wandering’ now voiced by Rupie himself would lead onto an even
bigger hit in the 70’s with the classic ‘Irie Feelings’. Johnny Clarke’s
decision to move on around this time coincided with producer Bunny ‘Striker’
Lee looking for a new singer to compete in the ever-moving Dancehall arena.
Johnnie’s break came in a strange way, having provided backing vocals
initially to a Bunny Lee produced cut, Earl Zero’s ‘None Shall Escape the
Judgment’. The very same session the drummer on the track, Carlton ‘Santa’
Davis, when asked by Bunny to come up with some new sound and while working
the High - Hat cymbals, hitting it when open, then when shut (based on the
Philadelphia Disco Sound known as the Phili - Sound) gave what the reggae
world would call a ‘Flyers Sound’. On transferring the tune to four tracks to
mix down at King Tubby’s studio, Earl Zero’s vocal was mistakenly left off.
Johnny Clarke being present at King Tubby’s and knowing the track already
inside out, then sang the lead vocal. The track became a smash Sound System
favourite and the rest as they say is history. Johnny Clarke became one of
Bunny’s main vocalists during the heyday that was the 1970’s. It’s from this
vast cannon that we have selected some of the singer’s finest cuts. His
soulful voice worked the musical field from Dread to Rockers to Lovers Rock.A
great gift that on playing this album we hope you’ll agree carries through
with the tests of time |

Lady Machine readies her debut 'Magnify EP' for Luke Slater's Mote-Evolver
this December. Pornceptual resident The Lady Machine has recently appeared on
her Unterwegs Records label, on compilations via Ben Sims' Symbolism and
Token, as well as on incendiary mixes for FJAAK's Spandau20 and Bassiani.
Active as a vinyl DJ for over 20 years, the Brazilian-born, Berlin-based
DJ/producer prepares her first release for Luke Slater's Mote Evolver with
'Magnify EP' this December. Leading the release is the titular 'Magnify',
combining dense arpeggios with heaving kicks and sizzling percussion, the
track looks straight to the dancefloor with a no-nonsense, club-focused
arrangement. 'Concentrate' follows suit, with The Lady Machine drawing for
crunching drum rhythms as unruly mechanic samples run wild throughout. On the

Alas
My Love, The Bony King Of Nowhere's critically acclaimed debut album, was
released in 2009. As it was only released on CD at the time, the record now
finally gets its first release on vinyl in 12 years. Today more than ever,
the intriguing universe shaped by then 22-year-old Bram Vanparys alongside
producer Koen Gisen sounds fresh and alluring. Back then the album was often
referred to as an acoustic sibling of Radiohead. Today, other names come to
mind such as Andy Shauf or Big Thief, while its quirkiness sometimes recalls
the work of Aldous Harding. The deluxe gatefold 2LP edition includes a series
of beautiful pictures, personal liner notes and the original album on disc
one, as well as a selection of home recordings Vanparys made between 2006 and
2008 on disc two. This second LP, aptly titled The Land Of The Bony King Of
Nowhere, also reveals a previously unreleased track called Valley On A
Planet. Next to the 12 demos, this

The
original Soundtrack to Greek-German director Nikias Chrssos’ new feature, ‘A
Pure Place’, scored by John Gürtler (Eigenlicht, COUNTER019), with his studio
partner Jan Miserre, and featuring a track by chameleonic British artist
Shackleton. Full Info: The script for A Pure Place had a dizzying effect on
John Gürtler & Jan Miserre; their minds reeling with the possibilities.
From Persian sheep bells, Chinese sheng, prepared trombone, quarter-tone
piano, a beaten-up cembalo, hand percussion, and a room full of synthesizers,
embryonic compositions and experiments came to life early on in the project.
An electro-acoustic extravaganza, the soundtrack for A Pure Place takes a
deep bow towards the many magnificent composers and scores from the late 60s
and 70s where orchestral arrangements met with tape loops, psychedelia, and
instruments from across the globe. Listening to that era of film music,
anything seems possible. The minimalist tones of ‘Ritual Bells’ set the dial
to weird in the opening sequence of the movie, whilst ‘The Island’ makes use
of ambient vocals recorded through an oil drum, gently introducing one of the
score’s main themes with a distant quarter-tone cembalo. Acclaimed British
artist Shackleton’s eerie original version of ‘Fust’s Song’ (also included)
was a tonal keystone for the entire soundtrack. Gürtler and Miserre
translated his psychedelic electronic blueprint, layering acoustic
instruments and bottom-heavy percussion in their ‘Paradox Paradise’
production style. The vocals, written by Chryssos, and sung by the cast on
set, capture the sonics of the actual crypt-like space where cult leader Fust
addresses with his following. ‘A Glimpse of the Other Side’ speaks of love
and death in a 70s-indebted composition reflecting John and Jan’s shared love
for melancholic and suspenseful chord progressions. Meanwhile, the sparkling
synths of ‘Athens’ - the children discovering neon-lit civilisation after
years confined on the island - transplant us to an entirely different era.
Greek artist Maroulita del Kol features heavily throughout - her choir of
vocals on ‘Erotica’ were recorded late at night in the studio foyer,
capturing its unique tiled reflections and concrete reverb. On ‘Purification’
Maroulita’s voice guides us alongside a Moog bass drone, building to an
ecstatic climax, whilst she also features in the film’s disco-centric ending
credits on ‘Gatoula Mou Mikri’ |

Tiger
Stripes ‘Rocket’ EP was conceived during the pandemic as the Swede busied
himself with paternity leave and taking care of his little tiger. During
these fulfilling stretches of time, the pair immersed themselves in
everything from Aphex Twin to Kelly Lee Owens and Yazoo, while at other times
the Spotify playlists Electronic Rising and Altar would frequently soundtrack
their playtime. The producer took this spirit with him into the studio,
aiming to harness the positive energy of his reference points and combine it
with his signature brand of multi-faceted techno. The EP opens with the title
track, marked with a distinct UK flavour and packed full of late ‘90s dance
energy. Its uplifting chord progression and tidy breakbeat interlude imbue it
with plenty of warmth and colour. ‘Fire’ is a sharp attitude-fuelled cut
driven by a heavy bottom-end and zippy percussion, while a bad arse hoover
dominates proceedings. On the B side the muscular ‘Your Love’ is comprised of
multi-layered bass stabs and catchy vocal licks, which combine for an
arresting finish. ‘Song for Debbie’ rounds out the package, a marriage of
dream pop and woozy late-night techno. This is Tiger Stripes at his
transcendent best.

EON label's fourth vinyl release features an original from Birmingham
producer Jayson Wynters with Chicago innovator Hieroglyphic Being on the
remix. Wynters - who along with label founder Adam Shelton has been at the
heart of the Birmingham scene for years - has already impressed this year
with his biggest EP yet on mighty Dutch label Delsin. Here he invites us ever
deeper into his nebulous deep techno world with a superb new single 'Filtered
Xploits.' It's a punchy but dynamic cut with lush ambient pads smeared across
a cosmic sky while chattery percussion and lithe synth power onwards. It has
a futuristic soul that recalls early Detroit techno and might be his best
work yet. Both Shelton and Wynters have long shared a love for the
idiosyncratic sounds of Chicagoan Jamal Moss aka Hieroglyphic Being, the
hugely prolific boss of Mathematics Recordings. He was one of the first
artists they bonded over five or so years ago and that love only deepened
when they caught him playing a standout set at Freerotation in 2017. After
hooking up there, Jayson later hung out with Moss on a visit to Chicago
before tapping him up for this remix. In his hands, 'Filtered Xploits'
becomes a brilliantly raw and textured track with layer upon layer of
fractured melody and gurgling acid. The prickly, jacked up drums will make an
impact on any floor, and as the chords shine through the mix they bring a
sense of hope and optimism. These are two more expertly crafted tracks from
artists at the top of their game |

The
Minneapolis-raised DJ/Producer’s second album following 2014’s ‘Monoliths’
lands on Radio Slave’s Rekids imprint in November. Although based in Berlin
for several years, Dustin Zahn has continued to exert influence over the
fertile but steadfastly underground Minneapolis techno scene as part of the
Intellephunk collective whilst cultivating a worldwide rep via releases for
Blueprint, Token and his own Enemy Records. The ‘Gain of Function’ LP sees
Zahn channelling the groove-fuelled techno of the late ’90s and early ’00s
and shaping eight powerful but funky contemporary techno tracks that display
the decades of experience under his belt. Forged from a series of live jams
with two drum machines and two synths, the album is a refined collection of
raw, purist techno brilliance. Across the A-side ‘Tell Me About Paradise’
brings shimmering staccato chops under bright and airy percussion before
‘Tangie Groove’ picks up the pace with floating pads, vocal slices, and a
rumbling bassline. On ‘Lucid Dreams’, scattered percussion plays with
hypnotic synth licks, while ‘Smoking in Silence’ sees off-kilter leads
dancing between emotive vocals and evolving drum loops. Opening the second
disc is the deep and shuffling ‘Crimson Cheeks’, with trance-inducing samples
nestled between sharp drum hits and rolling synthesis, and ‘Days Like These’
takes a darker turn as twinkling arps and droning pads carry the track.
‘Shark Rodeo’ featuring Jeremy Black mangles samples into a dense rolling
affair, before closing number ‘Next Level Looseness’ drops the 4/4 pattern
for a raucous club track, combining oddball sound sources and unruly
production techniques for a trippy finish to the album. Since the late ’90s,
Zahn’s hypnotic and driving techno has consistently caught the ears of top
DJs and labels worldwide, with anyone catching his marathon sets at the likes
of Berghain exposed to expansive sets. In addition to his techno-heavy
catalogue and DJing prowess, Zahn has lent production and engineering skills
to bands and singers, recently working with Poliça and on Carm’s Pitchfork
approved eponymous album |

Northern Irish Techno maestro
EJECA is back with his fourth full-length EP on Shall Not Fade, following up
on the sublime grooves of Free From. This time round, expect high-octane
drama from the off; borrowing sounds from across the hardcore continuum EJECA
shows off his skill for dance music production. Take It EP's title track is a
force of bouncing hardcore, harsh synths and firey vocals which begs to be
played out in the early hours for a fever-pitch dancefloor, nonstop to the
end. By comparison, "Away" is minimalist. Riding on a chunky
bassline, the glittering melody rises slowly to create an effervescent
soundscape with a driving beat. The peaks and drops of "Clunk" are
dizzying, a tight rave-influenced number closing the A-Side; B1
"Mallusk" builds the tension with elongated pads and rolling

Bristol native has had in the works since 2019. Nicky Soft Touch's recent

tape deck and a pile of old jungle tapes, cut-up snippets were crafted into
an audio collage balancing ambience with rave style crescendos. Driving

You
might think that Robert Hood is an artist who is content with the successes
he's achieved, but this is not a man who easily rests on his laurels so after
a long-time in the planning he is set to regenerate his much-loved Monobox
alias with a newalbum this November. The idea for Robert is that this vessel
has been lying dormant for 40 or 50 years and is now beginning to rise up
again, or regenerate. Techno minimalism, but from an alien futuristic
perspective.Following Robert Hood's announcement in October detailing the
return of his Monobox alias and the 'Forwardbase Kodai EP' comprising two
exclusive tracks and two remixes from himself and Ø [Phase], he now delivers
the full Monobox regeneration across an album featuring seven more tracks.
Originally launched in 1996 Hood's Monobox sound spanned a trio of EPs on his
own M-Plant label, culminating in more releases including the 'Molecule'
album (in 2003) for French label Logistic, which later spawned a series of
remixes including those of Ricardo Villalobos and Matthew Dear. A brief
return came in 2014 as part of M-Plant's 20th anniversary celebrations, which
saw the release of a new Monobox 12", 'Film / Rectangle'. Speaking to
RBMA that year for one of their Fireside Chat interviews, Robert said:
"Monobox was an alien project. I read this book when I was probably
around 13 or 14. It was this ominous black box that came from some other
universe, and it was just sort of hovering over the planet, over a cornfield
somewhere." For the return of Monobox, Hood has envisaged that the
vessel has been lying dormant for 40 or 50 years and is now beginning to rise
up again, or regenerate. The new Monobox album, 'Regenerate' creates an
all-enveloping story from its opening chapter and the atmospheric 'Rise'.
Stripped-back tribalism ensues with 'Blackwater Canal' before the ominous
'Wargames', while 'Angel City' brings a lighter, sparkling touch. Disc two
delivers the gritty 'Exoplanet' running at over nine minutes as it gradually
draws you in, then flip over for the sweeping grooves of 'Drydock'. The album
closes on the album's title track where vintage melodies sit alongside techno
futurism |

sampler Fed Conti has a way of making grooves sound as light as a feather,
elevating kraut and jazz phrases to dreamy realms where the imagination is
tickled. To kick off the forthcoming debut PROGedia album, revered producer
and remixer Charles Webster adds his inimitable touch to the single ‘We Are
The Night’, expanding on Conti’s heartfelt arrangements, playing with beats
and textures, as he travels smooth melodic lines. PROGedia is the newest
alias of the Italian producer Fed Conti, also known as Mahjong and Nardis.
After having played his Hammond organ with several jazz deities, and produced
samples for Coca Cola and Universal, he is finally unleashing his kinky
musical imagination in the PROGedia album; ‘We Are The Night’ kicks off a
mixture of kraut, psychedelic grooves and nu jazz, tied together through
clever arrangements and a refined sampling process. ‘It’s an escape from
modern decadence,’ says Fed, who adores the authentic and offbeat. It only
makes sense, then, that the first track of his upcoming album is called ‘We
Are The Night’; during the darkest hours PROGedia’s retro extravagance can
claim a foothold, offering a warm breeding ground for quirkiness,
infatuation, and musical liberation. The renowned producer Charles Webster,
too, is a real music fetishist; he got his first instruments at the age of 13
and went on to collaborate with the likes of Juan Atkins, Derrick May and
Kevin Saunderson, founding his own Love From San Francisco project and
following with two decades of classy and sophisticated music productions. For
this occasion, he has added his unmistakable touch to the ‘We Are The Night’
