Sometimes
the stones that remain unturned are the ones that are the least assuming.
There is a kind of humour to the idea that music which sounds like rocks
being thrown around in an oil drum being next to the name EXOTICA, but what
else can we say for the gesture of learning how to turn real noise into real
music_ It's exotic, it's outside the expectation of what things are supposed
to do. Getting to bark out your problems could soon be not much more than the
memory of a luxury, so swim in it. This music sounds live, like EXOTICA could
have trickled off of the back half of an abandoned COLERA riff on a lost
practice tape, or if your favourite ARROGANTA AGITATORER ep dub melted in the
sun on the roof of your apartment and fused with whoever was practicing piano
on the floor underneath you. Gone are the attempts to reclaim the clean lines
and false distress of industry for domesticity. Here is a tiny pair of legs
walking through a disgusting dirty world, gathering dust. The sun may set,
but the moon also rises. Music Exotique Volume Two comes housed in a
heavyweight sleeve designed by bass player Santiago Melchiorre and vocalist
Lauren Gerig, recorded by the band themselves, and was skilfully mastered by
Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios on a cold evening |

"Love,
Lunatics & Spacehips" - a title like a road movie by Jim Jarmusch.
Stony desert landscapes, surreal rock formations and right in the centre some
diner with a hand full of strange figures looking for something. It's not
quite clear what exactly they are looking for - maybe for freedom, maybe
love, maybe UFOs, maybe just for some human company. In the background there
is a band playing the matching soundtrack to this setting. Such or similar
images might come to someone's mind when looking at the artwork which
decorates the debut album of Palace Fever. The artwork's atmosphere is
continued by the tracks on "Palace Fever Sing About Love, Lunatics &
Spaceships". Starting with songs that let you scent the rebellious smell
of freedom ("You Can't Have It All", "Mexico By UFO",
"Wheels" ) to tracks, that make you think of a former love affair
("When The Winter Comes", "There Ain't No Right Way") and
memories full of past adventures ("Flying Saucer", "A Bag Full
Of Memories") - the album keeps what is promised by the artwork. That
all is pulled together by Palace Fever's fine sense for great melodies and
subtle weirdness |

remix of the hugely influential self-titled classic by Age Of Love. It lands
on the original Belgian label Diki Records on August 13th next to the
legendary Jam & Spoon 'Watch Out For Stella Mix' and the original vocal
mix from 1990. Age Of Love wrote and released their most iconic track in
1990. It went on to become a stone-cold dance classic that inspired a whole
trance movement that has endured throughout the years. The track was
originally released on one of the most iconic trance labels in Belgium's
history and has been specially remastered for this 2021 release. The idea to
remix 'Age Of Love' started taking shape when KNTXT boss Charlotte was in
lockdown with esteemed Italian techno artist Enrico at the end of February
last year. As soon as the track was finished, it was played in several live
streams and the online community quickly fell in love. The remix bears all
the hallmarks of both producers, who between them have a number of Beatport
hits and have crafted everything from the darkest drums to the most emotional
synths to great effect. Say Charlotte and Enrico, "It's a very
meaningful track for both of us, for various reasons, and it brings back many
joyful memories. Remixing such a legendary track was a super fun thing to do,
but we noticed how easily and spontaneously we could work together in the
studio. We are beyond excited to finally unleash our remix to the world. And
this at a time where the world finally seems to be going back to normal.

An acoustic date cut on February
9, 1960, this finds Hooker in top-notch form, running through a dozen
performances in his instantly identifiable style. Except for three solo
turns, Hooker is ably backed by bassist Sam Jones and drummer Louis Hayes,
both wisely following John Lee's idiosyncratic timing and changes. All the
tunes are stretched out to comfortable lengths, and his interpretations of
then-R&B hits like "Money" and Rosco Gordon's "No More
Doggin'" are so vastly reworked that they sound like totally original

The
story of Same Mind begins with the first release by Yaroslav Kinsky, who
brings us an atmospheric audio journey formed by 3 original tracks and a
remix by Pablo Bolivar. In recent years, Yaroslav has been exploring
synthesizers and other electronic music hardware, focusing more on recording
than releasing. Now it's time to bring ideas to life. The A-side starts with
the title track 'ALT' which stands for 'After Long Time'. The mysterious
synth sounds over a groovy bassline make the listener sail above the clouds
and get a bird's eye view of the beauty of nature. 'Enduro' continues the
storyline with a dreamy atmosphere, warm synths and enigmatic vocals. The
B-side starts with trippy 'Moons' and definitely sounds and feels more
dancefloor-oriented and while listening you could easily find yourself
dancing in the middle of your room. The release ends with a dubby remix of
'Moons' by one half of Pulshar duo, Seven Villas founder and AvantRoots
co-founder Pablo Bolivar, which goes in a more hypnotic but equally

by high demand is Cologne's house connoisseur DJOKO with his third Shall Not
Fade release - a feel-good 4-tracker which occupies the most uplifting
intersection of piano house, cosmic disco and funk. Following the
highly-acclaimed 2-step-infused Hooked EP and the deeper, more bass-driven
Ventura EP which followed, DJOKO further flaunts his expansive versatility on

pandemic and what the hell we were getting into, so people that day really
partied as if there was no tomorrow. The audience and us, we were really
having a party at the end of the world! That's how we felt that day: at the
end of the world as we once knew it. And I guess we were right on that. It's
also an ode to all the misfits & freaks, a call to our punk rock
community. We were worried about the possible consequences of the pandemics,
with venues being closed and the economic choking of independent and
experimental artists. The fear of a boring new world without places to
breathe and drift away from the established mainstream cultural diet, a
boring new world without the community feeling that only a rock show can
create. A call against the normalisation of Netflix and isolation, a hope

You
might know Bert Dockx from the inimitable alternative jazz-rock-trio Dans
Dans; or from his moody, psychedelic rock formation Flying Horseman; or from
his more intimate but equally special solo records. In 2019, the ever
productive guitarist released an album with Ottla, a jazzy sextet blending
different genres, textures and moods in wholly original ways, resulting in
long, evocative pieces, brooding with tension and atmosphere. Recently, the
band has transformed into a quartet, a tighter unit with a sparser and
slightly more electric sound. This new Ottla is playing a mixture of
reimagined tracks from the aforementioned album, and several brand new
pieces. Ottla's music - like all music for which Dockx is responsible - is
imaginative, intense and deeply felt. In the spring of 2021, actor and writer
Josse De Pauw contacted Bert with a question. He wanted to perform work of
the Uruguayan writer Eduardo Galeano on stage, texts about the madness of
colonialism and slavery, and about the beauty and mystery of the jungle, and
asked Dockx to come up with a live soundtrack. Dockx invited two friends from
his jazz band Ottla (Thomas Jillings and Louis Evrard) and a fourth musician
(bass player Axel Gilain). He composed new material, adapted some existing
Ottla pieces and could count on the improvisational talent of his fellow
musicians for the rest of the soundtrack. In a handful of rehearsals, an
impressive concert was put together that captivated the audience during a
short run in August. This live EP contains two pieces recorded on one of
these blistering evenings. Side A opens with the authoritarian voice of De
Pauw, who recites the Song of the Fire, before making way for a scorching,
almost apocalyptic version of 'Stofwolk'. On side B we hear Thomas Jillings
perform an impressionist clarinet improvisation while De Pauw conjures up
images of the unlimited sea and the winds, ships and slaves, heaven and hell |

Next
up on Time Is Now is a fresh cut from prolific Japanese producer Stones Taro:
a kaleidoscopic EP which traverses the boundaries of genre to create
something truly unique, occupying the intersection of UKG, electro, breaks
and house. After the raging success of previous releases on Scuffed
Recordings, Breaks 'N' Pieces and more recently on his own imprint, NC4K, the
Kyoto producer makes his Time Is Now solo debut with Super Hot Floor EP.
Kicking things off is the pacey, club-ready banger "Integration"
with stuttering synths and a driving bassline which leave little room for
respite beneath a fierce breakbeat electro rhythm. On "Straight
Walk" Taro offers a new take on speed garage with a sharp two-step
rhythm and the suggestion of acid-tinged synth stabs which lure you in before
reaching their full form in high-energy intervals of 4X4. After
"Watching You" strips things back, the B-side brings the energy
with Pulse X style stabs ("Super Hot Floor") and old school
house-indebted Korg organ melodies a la Robin S ("Dry Flower") |

& Adriaan is a Belgian duo with drummer Lander Gyselinck
(Stuff.,Beraadgeslagen,LABtrio) and Adriaan Van de Velde (Pomrad, Mauro
Pawlowski, J. Bernardt). Their common fondness for slick digital synths and
90s underground dance music genres brought them together to submerge in
symbiotic jams during the very first lockdown in 2020. After a bunch of very
successful under-the-radar concerts, they recorded an album in the summer of

mashup of 90s dance music genres like Chicago juke, Detroit techno, UK-Funky,

Huismann makes a quick return to SHDW & Obscure Shape's newly minted
Mutual Rytm imprint as he delivers a medley of classic, groove-driven techno
productions via his "Sounds From The Past I" EP. With recent
releases via labels such as Slam's iconic Soma, Berlin-based DJ and producer
Lars Huismann is quickly growing to become a familiar name of note within
today's modern techno landscape. Having featured as one of the artists on the
label's debut V/A release in February, with the German set to feature as a
regular across the imprint in coming months, he unveils fresh shades to his
sound palette on his return to Mutual Rytm with a combination of six slick
techno cuts across his "Sounds From The Past I" EP. The powerful,
rolling dynamics of "Surge" open proceedings as Huismann quickly
sets his stall, while "Collison" veers into slick, looping
territories as the energy and tension are kept tight and high. Next,
"Echo" ups the pace as tough kicks meet zipping melodies, filtered

With
his second contribution to the Lost Palms catalogue, Swansea-based producer
Tom Vernon takes us by the hand and leads us with him on a contemplative
journey through Japan's rural landscapes and their urban surroundings.
Following the success of his debut EP released on Shall Not Fade's sub-label
Lost Palms, Tom Vernon returns with a blissed-out 5-tracker. Taking its name
from the ancient temple district at the foot of the Japanese mountain, Minobu
EP sees the emerging producer fuse field recordings with the stylistic tropes
of house and broken beat, creating intricately woven tapestries imbued with
memory and place. The wistfully amorphous opening track "Onjuku"
captures the stasis of a declining-population seaside town, taking its cue from
the futile whine of the tsunami warning system that echoes daily through its
empty streets. On "Minobu In The Train", the EP discovers its
pulse, translated into the shuffle of maracas, reverberating cymbals and a
hypnotic piano melody that New Zealand brothers Chaos in the CBD would be
proud of. With instrumental-sounding percussion, a modest, throbbing bassline
and the ambient backdrop of Tokyo station, "Unexpected Departure"
takes jazz-infused broken beat as its reference point, and sees the EP at its
most transportive. Bringing things to a close are the complex drum workouts
and acid-tinged melody of "Route E52" and the more upbeat deep
house track "Could This Be" with low pass filtered funk-infused
melody that oozes sex appeal |

Vitess joins the Shall Not Fade
family with a vibrant contribution to our Season Series. Retroactive City
sees the Parisian talent helm the uplifting house sound for which his
prolific live sets have become known. Easing us in is the down-tempo slow
burner "Cockpit" with synth arpeggios that bubble playfully on the
surface of layered ambience and a modest two-step rhythm. The next two tracks
take things up a notch with funk-infused melodies ("Fantasia") and
old school Robin S-esque organ samples which make for a fiercely modern take
on a classic deep house sound ("Popeye"). Flip to the B side and
thumping floor-fillers "No Dancing" and "Ratz" maintain
the pace before "Grand Turismo" switches things up completely.
Jungle drums rattle under luscious pads before mutating into 4X4 to make the

cast into orbit with driving percussion and abstract sound effects. Soon they
are followed with a morphing bass sound and cymbals which lock the groove
into place, cranking the drive to the max. As the track progresses the
landscape of sound reveals its nature with metallic quality, like schrapnel
from a barren city. Truly a Deep Techno banger which will without a doubt
fill a dance floor. A2. MTRL - Taris: The listener is slowly submerged into
the waves of percussive bass sounds and menacing sweeps of noise which remind
of a storm in a desert, the horizon only slightly glimmering behind the veil
of sand. Soon the listener is introduced with a pounding kick drum, almost
making the landscape seem even more ruthless as the track progresses.
Quality, heady Deep Techno. B1. Polygonia - Division [Claudio PRC Remix]: The
hypnotic Techno maestro Claudio PRC twists the idea of the original track
into a mind explorative voyage with a triplet feel. The remix is shrouded in
melancholy with distant pad sounds, which add a nice tension to the track. As
usual, a brilliant remix from Claudio PRC. B2. MTRL - Taris [Mary Yuzovskaya
Remix]: On the remix the Berlin based producer is molding the source material
into a driving and psychedelic track, functional yet synapse tingling. Now
the bass has a bit more liquid-like quality and the overall soundscape is
more abstract. Hallucinatory effects of noise are filling the spaces between
the sounds, almost like being surrounded with faint whispers. Driving and

Yuzovskaya. A1. Polygonia - Division: Right from the start the listener is
cast into orbit with driving percussion and abstract sound effects. Soon they
are followed with a morphing bass sound and cymbals which lock the groove
into place, cranking the drive to the max. As the track progresses the
landscape of sound reveals its nature with metallic quality, like schrapnel
from a barren city. Truly a Deep Techno banger which will without a doubt
fill a dance floor. A2. MTRL - Taris: The listener is slowly submerged into
the waves of percussive bass sounds and menacing sweeps of noise which remind
of a storm in a desert, the horizon only slightly glimmering behind the veil
of sand. Soon the listener is introduced with a pounding kick drum, almost
making the landscape seem even more ruthless as the track progresses.
Quality, heady Deep Techno. B1. Polygonia - Division [Claudio PRC Remix]: The
hypnotic Techno maestro Claudio PRC twists the idea of the original track
into a mind explorative voyage with a triplet feel. The remix is shrouded in
melancholy with distant pad sounds, which add a nice tension to the track. As
usual, a brilliant remix from Claudio PRC. B2. MTRL - Taris [Mary Yuzovskaya
Remix]: On the remix the Berlin based producer is molding the source material
into a driving and psychedelic track, functional yet synapse tingling. Now
the bass has a bit more liquid-like quality and the overall soundscape is
more abstract. Hallucinatory effects of noise are filling the spaces between
the sounds, almost like being surrounded with faint whispers. Driving and

Dabo returns to Crosstown Rebels with his second EP of the year The Distance
We Share. His third EP will follow in the Autumn in advance of his debut
album forthcoming in 2021. Globally revered American producer David Morales
turns in two outstanding remixes that demonstrate contrasting aspects of his
illustrious career. The Distance We Share sees beautiful melodies standing
both individually and combined to create an ethereal atmosphere. Starting
with golden keys that drop into a twinkling lullaby, rising and falling
throughout the track before ending with danceable energy. Komorebi opens with
melancholic chords, the bassline moves at a relaxed pace over a rhythm of
hi-hats and cowbell, sensual distorted vocals and delicate chimes induce a
feeling of romance. The first remix of Komorebi from David Morales sees him
add his legendary Red Zone stamp of New York influenced house music, building
tension with darker tones, chugging percussion and hypnotic loops. On the
Diridim Mix Morales turns the vibe to that of his newest label, with classic
soulful electronics adding a deep sense of warmth. Still in its infancy, the
Tibi Dabo project from Max Guardans has seen his unique emotive take on
electronic music and sound design catch the attention of influential
figureheads. His debut release the Ende EP on Sasha's Last Night on Earth
imprint demonstrating his remarkable talent. With his determined attitude and
unrelenting thirst for exploration impressing respected tastemaker Damian
Lazarus, he was immediately signed to Crosstown Rebels. His last two EP’s Her

Robotron
successfully autonomized and has now breached the mainframe. This is its
second offering for the ESP Institute. Side A’s Exodus picks up where
the last 12” left off, the spoils of cybernetic war as scavenged by the
now-defunct Xinner and translated by Robotron into machine dance music for a
post-apocalyptic future. With only a select few analog machines with which to
communicate, it manages to produce the most bombastic beat we’ve heard this
side of the acid winter—a mighty compressor permeates all spare gaps in the
waveform, as communicative bleeps and note-bending mechanics work in concert
to assemble a highly dynamic composition— emboldening us with courage for a
new age. On the flip side, Kamchatkan renders a sparse image of a only
remaining organic life, found in the furthest Eastern reaches of the Asian
continent, the Kamchatka peninsula. Here, Robotron experienced a
metamorphosis, a collapse of its structured programming in which it became
self-aware and transitioned from its quantitative agenda to a qualitative
enlightenment. This breath of new life invigorated Robotron’s musical
approach as heard in the aforementioned title, revealing an uncanny ability
for humanistic percussion and lyrical Acid melodies. These two programs will
conduct synchronized dances for the masses |

To The Floor is committed to delivering seminal house music to wax, making
sought after heritage tracks readily available on vinyl for crate diggers to
add to their collections. Now in its fifth edition, the series continues to
raise the bar. The A-Side features two mixes of the mid-nineties Mood II
Swing production ‘Living In Ecstasy’ by Fonda Rae. The R&B singer who was
responsible for cult hits like ‘Touch Me’ delivers silky-smooth vocals that
remain the focus in the opening Groove Mix, whereas JC’s Ecstasy Dub follows
up with a rumbling bassline to deliver a club-focussed version. On the flip

Sunda Arc are brothers Nick Smart
and Jordan Smart. Best known as key members of Norwich based alternate-jazz
trio Mammal Hands, Sunda Arc channels the duos love of electronic and dance

Marquis Hawkes has announced details of his second LP 'The Marquis of
Hawkes', due out 24th August 2018 on fabric's in-house label Houndstooth
