/DL/MS/ have been continually commuting through the electro singularity,

duo's debut album - 12 tracks that combine the eternally fresh aesthetics of

It
takes a lot of swag to wear a hat as big as the hat that I.G. wears on the
cover of Bomp. But I.G., a.k.a. Bobby I.G., a.k.a. I.G. New Yorker, had swag
by the bucket load. That hat tells you everything you need to know about I.G.
and, indeed, about Bomp - it's a big funky slice of Nigerian cowboy disco
magic. I.G. was a player in the thriving Enugu boogie scene, a scene, in the
east of the country, that also produced Goddy Oku and William Onyeabor. With
Mr Mighty Flames, Willie N'For on bass, Austin Onwurah on drums and all the
bells and whistles of the Godiac Studios close at hand, a Nigerian disco
classic was inevitable. 'Disco Bomp' and 'Disco Power' are straight-ahead
floor-fillers. 'Funk ina Ghatto' has a slower, dirtier groove. 'World of
Misery' takes a slight calypso reggae detour, before 'Take Me Home' brings it
on home, with an unabashed plea for 'loving' and some delightfully wonky
synth lines from another Mighty Flame, Frankie Song. Bomp was I.G.'s only
album. It's a startling one-off disco boogie classic that was clear in its
ambition and perfect in its execution. A bit like the hat, really |

It's hard to get a handle on
Nigerian musicians Nash Dodoo, Charlie Cuul and Jonas Caulley. In 1980 they
released an album of face-melting gospel boogie as the BML chapels. And in
the same year, calling themselves the Beta Yama Group, they put out 'Free Love',
a belated love letter to San Francisco's 'Summer Of Love' and an album
altogether focused on more worldly concerns. 'Free Love' is a small slice of
Haight-Ashbury transported to the Polygram Studios in Lagos. Insanely rare -
and worth buying for the freaky cover art alone - 'Free Love' is a funky,
reverb heavy call for love, peace and sweet, sweet loving |

Martin
Matiske's superb new six-track EP Circle Of Enlightenment on LDI Records is
based around the concept of one-mindedness and togetherness. This German
artist was fascinated with mixing records as early as his 10th birthday and
had his first release on the legendary International Deejay Gigolo Records
aged just 15. In the 20 years since he has released a selection of records on
labels like Moustache Records and Bordello A Parigi. His timeless sound comes
with a vintage touch and always fuses electro, italo and techno in fresh new
ways. This new EP aims to describe the direct connection between human beings
and the universe. Martin says: "Human beings are aliens always looking
for answers to questions like why are we here and what life is about? We know
the answer but won't accept it. We are made up of the elements of space and
are directly connected to the universe. Each person contains the energy of
the universe and is connected with everything that surrounds it. We are one!
We are here because we are here! Our mission is to be!" The EP opens
with 'Memory', and Martin explains that "Remembering is the ability to
do things right but most of the time it causes pain." The track is a
slick and icy electro workout with gorgeous retro-future pads bringing a
cosmic sense of soul while the corrugated bass keeps busy below. 'Breakout'
describes breaking out of normal thought and reaching a state of
"no-mind." It is a playful and dynamic electro cut with
characterful bass and synth stabs like shooting stars as shimmering arps ride
up and down the scale. 'Lost In Space' deals with the idea that human beings
on earth are just as lost in space as aliens. It's an interplanetary electro
trip with glistening synths shining bright next to more twisted, tortured
bass. 'Microbot' is about miniature robots that make our lives easier and
ride on a punchy bassline, with neck-snapping snares and pads that circle
around like spacecraft during battle. It is another lush electro workout that
leads into 'Stars' and pays homage to the importance of these twinkling rays
of light. It's a widescreen track with withering leads, cyborg vocals, and a
real sense of hope as the snappy drums march into an unknown future. Last of
all, 'Solaris' pays tribute to the life-giving force of the sun with another
super crisp electro groove, slithering arps and conversational pads that make
both a physical and emotional impact. Circle Of Enlightenment is a

includes a heavyweight remix from local hero, Carlos Sanchez aka Lowwaxx. The
“Subida Peligrosa” EP is jam packed with glitchy broken drums, and electro
enthusiasm, all fuelled by acid injections bringing the rave nostalgia.
Opener “Dalema Raca” chugs along, immediately letting you know the flavour of
the day from the Gran Canaria duo, energetic club room sounds from the get
go. Title track “Subida Peligrosa” takes you on a mysterious wander through
curious, almost sinister synths, and hypnotic drum loops. You can just
imagine this track slicing through an after hours dance floor with great
impact. Kicking off the B side is “Pauntema” which enters with real tenacity
due to the crisp breakbeat drums before you are met with dreamy pads, and a
sub heavy bass. Lowwaxx takes the beautiful synth sounds, and amalgamates
them with a more direct and 4 by 4 energy in comparison to the original. Both

Sasha Rajkovich, aka Zarkoff,
member of Sumerian Fleet, NauGrau, FFFC, Kali jugend and other
collaborations, has been active in underground music since the mid 90s. EBM,
acid and electro are most frequently visited genres in his musical output,
with occasional drifts into post punk or techno. He also likes to express
himself through lyrics, influenced by the likes of Leonard Cohen, Philip K.
Dick or Vladimir Mayakovskij. For this new EP, he delivers four cold and
melancholic synth-electro tracks, inspired by Old Testament and Gnostic
teachings about the nature of the Demiurge. All the vocoded and speech
synthethised lyrics are direct quotes from King James translation of the Holy
Bible. No comments have been provided by the author, only musical context, so
listeners will be free to interpret it however they want |

Chet Baker's work is legendary
and the arrival of this previously unreleased live set, recorded at Palermo's
Brass Club in 1976, is a real delight for his fans. Here Baker's marvellous
trumpet revelry is matched by the rest of his dynamite Quartet, this time
featuring the esteemed composer and vibraphonist Enzo Randisi on piano (his
only collaboration with Baker), Vito Tommaso's brother Giovanni making full
use of the fretboard on melodic stand-up bass, and Gianni Cavallaro taking an
unusual approach with the drums. Their keen musicianship helps spur Baker to
squeeze the best from his horn, and there's a rare take of the ballad 'I
Can't Get Started' too, making this a must-have for all serious Chet devotees |

di Dolore (Bubbles of Pain) is a journey through the emotions and feelings
that affect us closely, which are related to what is happening around us
today. The suffering of men, women and children in the world who - looking
for a better life - flee everyday from hopeless situations cannot leave us
indifferent: the title track Bolle di Dolore is the perfect match with our
sound and voice, which we wish could reach everyone's heart. In Flauto Magico
(Magic Flute), through a strident sound resembling a lament, we are perfectly
connected to such human tragedy, almost with a distant scream and tribal
tones that give hope for a positive outcome. Ricordi is the track related to
all the experiences that end up in chaos and that do not lead to anything good.
These latter must teach us to walk away without making too much noise, while
always bringing respect for those around you. Closing the EP, the acid sounds
of Swedish-South African boyband Off the Meds rework Bolle di Dolore together
with their distinctive guttural vocals, in an evocative pidgin-like stream of
consciousness interweaving with our narration |

Protean
producer Jaymie Silk returns to Shall Not Fade with an intensely club-driven
LP. On "The Rise & Fall Of Jaymie Silk & Rave Culture" a
range of vocal samples tell a story over assertive rhythms that switch
rapidly so that hard-hitting acid becomes breaks before melting into sleazy,
low-end bass techno. Strap in! It"s not easy to anticipate how any
release from the Paris-based Jaymie Silk will sound. A self-proclaimed
musical nomad and a real jack-of-all-trades, his artistic identity is defined
by its undefinability. With this release - a follow-up from "The Legend
of Jack Johnson" EP released on Shall Not Fade last year - Jaymie
references the kaleidoscope of sounds which inspired him to make music in the
first place. Sampling an iconic Malcolm X speech, the force of which is
bolstered by giant synth swells and clattering percussion, "Freedom For
Everybody" places the album in the context of diaspora and resistance -
themes that run ever-present through Jaymie's music. With "The
Heat", he pays tribute to late '80s dance music, with a classic Lyn
Collins drum break sample and diva-esque vocals. The hard-hitting acid-tinged
techno of "Start Swinging" sees the album at its most assertive
before "Bad B" takes things camper with deep bass pulses and
pitched-shifted vocals which affirm "I'm a bad bitch, yeah you heard
about me". "Cats Love Drums" offers another direction
completely with polyrhythmic percussion and real meow's before the two
closing tracks leave a taste of sentimentality, with a major-key vocal melody
and a giddy 150BPM pulse ("Waiting For The Day") and an intimate

The Skinhead sound grew from the
music that was coming out of Jamaica around 1968 to 1971 and was adopted by
the British Youth. The music seemed tailor made for their sharp look and
natty dress style, a style that was heavily influenced by the Jamaican Rude
Boy look. The Skinhead movement started around 1968 and by the following year
it became the style fashion of English teenagers. The uniform consisted of
boots, braces and jeans and the upbeat sound of Reggae seemed to match the
style perfectly. The tempo of the music seemed to be picking up around 1966
to 1968 the Rocksteady period, which was when the earlier Ska sound slowed
down. The Sound System dances needed a slower bear to swing the night away
to, some say to cater for the extreme heatwave that hit Jamaica around that
time. We have selected a bunch of tunes that would have provided a sound
track to those heady times, so sit back and enjoy some of the tunes the
youths were listening to when the Skinheads hit town... |

Romanian
composer and DJ, Ada Kaleh, reveals a more intricate and textured side to his
compositional dexterity, releasing a new album ‘Nodus Tollens’ on the
legendary ambient label, Apollo Records. Composed and recorded between 2010
and 2020, ‘Nodus Tollens’ finds Ada Kaleh departing from the confines of
minimal house and techno, and instead exploring the many facets of ambient
electronica and minimalism. Drawing inspiration from minimalist artists such
as Steve Reich and Terry Riley, four expansive compositions are offered up,
each one transcending the boundaries of dance music dogma, and focusing on
natural free-form rhythms; meditative and healing frequencies intertwine with
special textures, resulting in soothing psychedelia. Questioning the linear
nature of time, each production guides the listener though whirling
soundscapes, DMT realms and time loops, creating an aural safe space in which
to explore. Propelled by a passion for 60’s & 70’s spiritual jazz,
afro-beats and other psychedelic inducing textures, Ada Kaleh describes these
musical endeavours as Quantum Techno. Across two slabs of 12” vinyl, and four
distinct passages and states of time (Future, Past, Present and Entropy),
‘Nodus Tollens’ is a seamless listening experience that heralds the
development of the composer’s musical journey, which has to date afforded
magnetic releases for labels like Dialogue, Rawax, R&S Records and his
very own Ada Kaleh Romania imprint. Sleeve artwork on thew album comes
courtesy of the super talented artist Anca Popa, now based in Cape Town after

The
restless trip through countless clubs, numerous airports and on-going party
insanity continues as the second soundtrack rendering of Hannes Stöhr's
premier drama film, Berlin Calling, takes on its awaited release. Paul
Kalkenbrenner's masterstroke, "Berlin Calling Vol. 2," continues to
accompany the protagonists from Stöhr's moving and somewhat tragic depiction
while surfacing a humorous and well-spirited undertone. Although the tracks,
"Bengang" and "Torted," lack their corresponding picture,
they highly possess the authentic feverish atmosphere depicted in the film,
plainly making them the blue prints to DJ Ickarus's jam-packed dance floor.
Don't expect any fancy embellishment on this release. These two tracks flow nicely
like a non-stop machine. "Bengang" transmits more of a classic
house-element with subtle hints of percussion while "Torted" pulls
the track's speed, making it an uncompromising energy-booster. "Berlin
Calling Vol. 2" simultaneously offers a powerful and irresistible
listening experience to soundtrack listeners, film observers and, of course,
movie hero character, DJ Ickarus himself! Resistance is futile! |

passed fit for public intrigue... For now the artists are known only via
their encrypted aliases. This is Music to Arouse Curiosity. Quite simply,
Cod3 QR (Code QR) puts the music first. The who, the what, the where will be
revealed over time on the label's website but for now we venture into the...
The people behind the label remain in the shadows, curating for the curious,
the seekers, the adventurers and the brave. Cod3 QR is about going back to
basics. About that feeling of discovering hidden gems and long sought after oddities.
Not knowing who made what. If it's good, it's good. The music is the message.
CODE3 QR: label mission statement: Music is our sole driving force.
Eclecticism, open-mindedness, divergence and non-conformity are the values we
cherish. To achieve this, 3 or 4 artists from different musical backgrounds
will come together on each release. All of our artists, whether known or
unknown, will work under a secret code name so that their true identities
remain out of the public domain to avoid any preconceived ideas or a
particular bias. By doing this, the music will always come first. Each
release will be identified by a simple QR code, which, when flashed, will
take you to a web page that will give, among other things, the artist's code
name. In the current market, most digital and vinyl sales occur over an
average period of 2 months. Once this time period has elapsed, the true
identity of each artist (if they wish) will finally be revealed on our web
site. It is only then, two months after the release that the artists will be
allowed to start communicating. Contrary to the usual practice, COD3 QR will
search out artists rather than the other way around, so it won't be possible
to send us music. The founders of COD3 QR will also remain anonymous because
their identities must not affect the image, expectations or perception of the
label. To ensure anonymity, all of our artists will sign a contract agreeing
to keep silent or be economical with the truth about the identity of those
behind the label and the artists. The music alone will be the reason why we
sign an artist, and we want music to be the only reason for people to take an
interest and engage with the label. For this to succeed, we must remain free
of all expectations and all prejudices because only one thing counts: the

For
more than a decade now, Fleck E.S.C. has marked himself out as one of the
most playful and prolific producers in the electro game. Across dozens of
releases for labels including Bass Agenda and Science Cult, the France-born,
Japan-based artist has made his name through a production style which
balances limber beats with exploratory textural work. Fleck E.S.C. debuted on
Central Processing Unit in 2018 with the Discrete Opinion EP. Now, after
stopping by the Sheffield label last year on a Silicon Scally remix job,
Fleck E.S.C. delivers his second EP for CPU in the form of Rough Silk. The
record's intriguing title proves an apt introduction to this four-track
affair. These cuts are at once sleek and abrasive, anchored by robotechnic
machine-funk grooves yet also full of strange, shifting shapes. The opening
title-track expertly sets out Rough Silk's stall. Heralded by gurgling synths
and all manner of whirring percussive tones, 'Rough Silk' blossoms around the
minute mark with the introduction of a wickedly buoyant lead synth. This is
music at once visceral and full of mystery, the sound of wending through the
back alleys, and the feeling carries through to the following cut 'Hat in the
Cat' - as the synth pads spool out overhead, the machine-funk snap of the
beat has an almost aquatic quality that links it back to Drexciya. Much like
'Rough Silk', the record's first B-side 'Faking Sweet' also shifts gears. The
opening strains of the track seem to be preparing for another insistent,
expansive broken-beat pulse, but it stiffens its neck around ninety seconds
in. Programmed drums whirr around a jittery machine-gun bass while discordant
synths pull at the edges of the track, all of which brings a strong dystopian
energy that increases further as the percussion sounds become increasingly
bug-eyed. After so much excitement, 'Digger Play' closes out the EP with a
softer touch. There's still plenty of low-slung bounce to the beat, but the
track runs a little slower, and there's a warm wistfulness in the synths
which gives 'Digger Play' a painterly, almost poetic feel. However, while it
may take its foot off the gas, the production here is as deft as it is
everywhere else on Rough Silk. With new EP Rough Silk, electro whizz Fleck
E.S.C. brings the sort of casual mastery to proceedings that has
characterised his career to date |

Back
in the late 80s label owner Olivier Ducret entered 11 Wardour Street in
London, home of the mighty Brain Club, a gallery · club · bar owned by Sean
McLusky and Mark Wigan, where many (acid) house and techno visionaries played
their early live on Thursday night to less than 50 people, that was quite
intimate: Orbital, Simon Lovejoy, Mr Monday, If?, Doi-Oing, Nexus 21,
Funtopia, Hi-Ryze, Adamski, 808 State, Ultramarine and of course, Mixmaster
Morris's Irresistible Force and Irdial's RAMJAC Corporation. The energy and
the creativity was incredible, at its peak, everything was fresh, innocent,
naïve, new and oh so exciting. Boundaries in genre did not exist, and
everyone was welcome aboard, no superstar, no business, just pure great fun.
The crowd was eclectic, you could bump into Mark Moore or Neneh Cherry while
the oung guns Andrew Weatherall or Steve Bicknell were spinning. This is most
possibly where it all started for me & the label and this unique
recording captures it all like no other, like a time capsule, impressively,
and amazingly, a classic slice of British rave history unearthed via
Switzerland. Just close your eyes and go back to the phuture. The
Irresistible Force is underground legend, ambient dj, writer, critic of
corporate dance business (thanks for that) and producer Mixmaster Morris. He
became involved with the emerging UK acid house scene, touring with The
Shamen and releasing his first and still outstanding album "Flying
High" on Caspar Pound's great Rising High Records (to be reissued on
WRWTFWW with that classic T-Shirt "I Think Therefore I Ambient").
He played all raves, clubs, radios and festival, all around the world, did so
many mixtapes and compilations and more albums, always so enjoyable and and
still is one of the most truly enthusiastic DJ around. He's currently
preparing 3 new albums to be release on Ninja Tune. Ramjac Corporation is
Paul Chivers, producer, percussionist, sound artist and teacher, with first
release on the cult London label Irdial Discs, one of UK's unsung electronic
pioneers, known for his voltaic live shows during the heady Summer of Love in
1988 and beyond. Jamming his own flavour of sampled beats live from his Atari
and Emulator, Ramjac performed at the now legendary Sunrise, Energy and Back
To The Future raves and went on to tour with Orbital, The Shamen and The
Irresistible Force. Ramjac went from playing from 50 to 10,000 ravers in a
matter of months. In 2018 London-based record label Emotional Rescue have
announced the reissue of Ramjac Corporation’s debut extended player “Cameroon
Massif!” mixing a love of techno and house with dub bass and break beats into
a proto-jungle swirl |

Testarossa crashed in 1986. His first song, "Testarossa Autodrive",
was an instant success, and was followed by two singles. In 2007, he was
chosen by Daft Punk to open their now legendary "Alive" tour. In
2011, his track "Nightcall", produced with Guy-Manuel de
Homem-Christo, became the theme song for the film "Drive", and
consequently a worldwide success. Kavinsky's first album, "Outrun",
was released in 2013, followed by a collaboration with The Weeknd on the song
"Odd Look". In 2022, Kavinsky is back with "Reborn", his
second album recorded at the famous Motorbass studio in Paris. The first
single "Renegade" has an impactful sound and a powerful chorus,
whilst the second single "Zenith” has a more muted and futuristic feel.

clubbers wild. Diaspora grinds in to action from the off, with its slightly

The
release of a debut album should be something to celebrate. But how would
unbridled cheer be possible when your home country is invaded and uncertainty
is the only consistent factor in your life? Still, despite this troublesome
period, marked by great anxiety and grave concern, Ukraine native Lostlojic
releases his first LP, ????? (pronounced 'Mamay'), on our TECH-UM label. The
title is derived from the legendary Cossack folk hero of the same name, who
symbolizes the strength, freedom and fidelity of the Ukrainian people. Its
ten compositions transform and hypnotize the listener, or shoot a sudden jolt
of electricity through their bodies. 'Rosebud', for instance, takes its name
from - and features a sample of - Orson Welles' 1941 landmark film Citizen
Kane and is more than just pleasing to the ear; it's a state of mind. The
Ukrainian wunderkind knows how to play upon your aural perception like no
other! Many of its pieces are permeated with repeating phrases, which help
you lull into the perfect mental state in which to fully grasp and enjoy this
revolutionary record. The album's atmosphere seems at times to be grim, then
mysterious, even alternately welcoming or hinting at hope and desire and in
some instances convey all of these sensations at once. Which is, of course,
quite fitting for the trying times we find ourselves in right now. It's a
major factor why this stunning debut necessitates repeated listening! |

Yosh
returns with his fourth Time Is Now release. Following the success of
UKG-focused 5-tracker, "The Warning" released at the end of last
year, Modulate EP sees the London producer put his inimitable spin on breaks,
translating into 4 tracks firmly rooted in the genre's antecedents yet
offering something distinctly new. "New Dawn" is a prime example of
Yosh's priceless ability to create something which is at once hard-hitting
and soulful with clattering breaks and luscious vocals which float blissfully
above them. Next up, "Modulate" adds a thumping 4/4 beat into the
equation, creating an assertive march with plenty of swing before "Snap
Back" brings the ruffage with a sharp two-step rhythm and fierce bass
womps. Finally, it's up to "Track 1" to close proceedings. A real
heater, a syncopated triplet rhythm lends it its driving propulsion - almost
resembling the club sounds native to northeastern regions of the US such as
Jersey and Baltimore. Thudding assertively beneath the stylistic tropes of
UKG, this makes for a truly unique sound and solidifies Yosh's status as a

based producer Jorge Velez returns to Echovolt under his brand new guise

Quotes: 2012 was a prolific year for the New Jersey based producer Jorge
Velez also know as Professor Genius. He recently spread even more his name
with his 'MMT Tape Series' release on Rush Hour Recordings and the blinding
sountrack-ish 'Hassan' album on the notorious L.I.E.S. from New York. Jorge
Velez and William Burnett joined their forces in 2009 and their collaboration
tracks became the first release on the Echovolt label's catalog. Their debut
EP came under the name 'PG&S - Motorik EP' and contained some freaky
krautrock electronics. After four years, Jorge Velez and William Burnett (aka
Willie Burns) return to Echovolt. This time Jorge Velez delivers three
tripped out, psychedelic journeys of the Detroit kind under his brand new
guise Bridge & Tunnel Kids. This fresh Echovolt release is topped off by
a remix by fellow 'outsider' Willie Burns with his unique sound signature! |

Following
a storming barrage of kicks and whistles on "I'm alright mate" via
south-westerly label Timedance, Lauded sonic explorer Bruce settles on
Hemlock and kindly offers a trio of exotic and rare tracks. 'Before You
Sleep' is a glimpse into the delirious vacuum of thoughts and weariness
induced by habitual insomnia. Lethargic and leaden, the hollow kick drum
casts a solemn meter punctuated with blasts of spectral resonance all set
against an eerie distant chime. Each pulse weighs deeper as the temperature
drops and atmosphere thins. Then it appears. Cleansed with a lullaby melody
floating towards the inevitable dawn, the scene is gradually swept away
leaving but a hollow for the new day's air to fill. 'In Line' is a scurrying,
pneumatic dance spiked with a punch of sparky leads amid pressurised snares
and percussion. Never quite settling, frustrated, twice reset the rhythm
steadies and we begin to synchronise. 'Sweat' is constructed in plain sight
using concurrent bands of symbolic frequencies, each melding together to
forge a self-sufficient protective network. Ancient geodesic blueprints
inform the design, bolstered by a microscopic workforce of nano-fx and
half-drops. Once this would have taken centuries to complete, thankfully we
now have the technology and co-ordinates to establish contact before the next
wave arrives |

Alinka
makes an eagerly anticipated return to Crosstown Rebels with the outstanding
Control Transmission, her last appearance on the label featuring in 2016
collaborating with Shaun J. Wright. This solo release demonstrates her
versatile sound that is inspired by her experience in scenes across the
world. Control Transmission begins with robust 909 drums as the claps resound
with force. The bass, a razor-sharp, distorted and filtered charge is
introduced commanding attention, further electro inspired samples and effects
are layered in this powerful track. Day Zero captures the spirit of the Mayan
jungles, with synth that propels with energy, ebbing and flowing with
mystical chords that give a nod to the famous festival spearheaded by Damian
Lazarus. Born in Kiev, Alinka has a unique power on the decks and in the
studio, influenced by the city of Chicago, with toes tipped in Detroit techno
and Europe’s key cities. Immigrating to Chicago with her family as a child
she immersed herself in the scene, digging for records and becoming resident
for Justin Long’s Dotbleep party at Smartbar. In 2012 an impromptu meeting
with former Hercules and Love Affair vocalist Shaun J. Wright changed her
life. The pair launched their Twirl parties and label whilst continuing to
evolve their collaboration. The result has been an impressive catalogue of
material from, with music featured on Jackathon Jams, Crosstown Rebels,
Leftroom, The Classic Music Company and of course Twirl. Now living in
Berlin, Alinka has used this base to play at parties across Europe including
the likes Panorama Bar and Circo Loco, whilst regularly returning to the US
to play for promoters such as Ladyfag. 2020 will she Alinka’s evolution
continue, with a packed schedule of releases and her newly launched label

‘Silver Surfer’, ‘X O Surf’ and
the ‘X O Surf remixes’, big tunes from the dance floors of 1993 will be
rereleased via Violent Drum Recordings on September 4 2020. The Deep, was the
alias Matt Frost and Pete Diggens recorded under from 1993-1996. Frost and
Diggens released a stream of vinyl on own imprint Violent Drum and finished
when Matt and Pete were discovered by Andrew Weatherall at Sabresonic which
led them to sign to Leftfield’s Hard Hands label in 1997 as Dark Globe.
‘Silver Surfer’, ‘X O Surf’ and the ‘X O Surf remixes’ were created over a
series of weekends in ’93. When you listen to the record you can hear Frost
and Diggens try to create the sound of waves amongst the beats, they were
also influenced by tracks like Pink Floyd’s 20-minute epic ‘Echoes’ |

Drummer-producer Teppo Mäkynen's
celebrated alias The Stance Brothers returns with a properly groovy
7"/digi single "Resolution Blue / Where Is Resolution Blue?"
on We Jazz Records, 19 June. The source of inspiration here is an original track
by Timo Lassy & Teppo Mäkynen found on their self-titled 2019 We Jazz LP.
The Stance Brothers mangles the track up into two different versions with
crisp drums, catchy vibraphone riffs, distorted guitars and 100% signature
Stance Bros groove, like only Teddy Rok can deliver it. The digi version adds
a "bonus beats" type of treatment in "Teddy Rok Mass Appeal
Edit". True to We Jazz style, the 7" comes with an old school
heat-pressed labels and a generic brown paper sleeve |

Involve Records celebrates its
10th anniversary with a new series of VA's combining young upcoming artists
and iconic legends of the 2000's Techno scene - the long awaited VA's are
finally back after In Love With Involve came out five years ago to celebrate
the 5th anniversary with artists such as FJAAK, Bambounou and Cosmin TRG.
Opening up the VA is Dave Black, with a fast, vibrant and groovy stomper
whose trippy vocal pulls everyone to the dancefloor, inviting you, him and
her to rave. Bipolar Disorder honcho Chlär follows with the same groovy
energy and a hallucinatory melody, reaching a state of contagious ecstasy.
Darker vibes come with Soma regular Roll Dann, an evil Techno cut with a
pitched elephant sound creeping its way into the listeners' brains and
melting them. Closing the VA is legend Maxx Rossi with a straight-forward
techno belter on which male and female vocals alternate - the message is
clear: clubbing 24/7 is a duty |

Welcoming
Joe Koshin to the Time Is Now family with a release of two halves. Time Is
Now White Vol.15 takes us on a whiplash journey through the contemporary
iterations of breakbeat hardcore before slowing down the pace and stationing
in UKG's shadier corners. With previous releases on Planetaria Music and
Gimme A Break Records, Joe Koshin has been making some serious waves with his
no-prisoner approach to breaks and jungle. Time Is Now White Vol.15sees the
London producer continue in this vein with two raucous breakbeat hardcore
tracks, and two dark garage tracks which boast the style's potential to be at
once introspective and club-ready. "Chunk" slams things into
action. And if you thought the clattering drum breaks and growling low-ends couldn't
do more to rip open a dancefloor, just wait for the switch-up. Stutters that
Sully would be proud of. The title track grounds itself firmly in the genre's
antecedents: breakbeat which is at once gloriously old-skool and fiercely
forward-facing. Flip to the B side and it is configurations of dark garage
that take to the fore: first adorned with a hypnotic melody that floats above
pitched-up vocals ("T4LK 2 M3"), and later energised by a buoyant
swing which implores you to move ("Spectra Don"). Time Is Now White
