Farrago
returns to his resident label Lenske Records with 'Flashpoint EP'. A pillar
of the Lenske imprint and regular at the likes of EXHALE and Awakenings,
Farrago's heavy-hitting sets and production have had an extensive influence
on Belgium's techno scene. Leading the A side is the cosmic expedition
'Quieto'. An energizing cut that incorporates the key ingredients of a true
Farrago track - rave elements, a spiking vocal, eccentric hi-hats and a
determined, driving beat that urges listeners to move. Following is 'No
Competition', an exercise in wild percussion, thundering bass and the deep,
dark synths that Lenske is known for. A smug voice calls out the track title
repeatedly over the oscillating and menacing main horn synth. On the flip is
'Beleiv' - a malevolent mix of dense bass, eerie sirens and slamming
percussion. Arguably the heaviest track on the record, the hi-hats, echoing
keys and fleeting breakdowns add an ethereal dimension, taking listeners on a
mesmeric journey. Next up is the celestial 'Disc 1', produced entirely using
Playstation 1 sound effects. Doomy pads are accompanied by twinkling keys and
a growling bass that creates a feeling of euphoria as the track crescendos. A
deep & hypnotic cut that closes out the record on a high |

The Swedish hardcore punk scene
of the early 1980s was vibrant and wide, with underground movements yielding
surprising extremities. This ultra-scarce cassette-only release, limited to
300 copies in 1984, was the first of the legendary Uproar label, pitting the
blast-beat proto-grindcore of Asocial, from the small town of Hedemora,
against the classical thrash of Bedrövlers, from the equally small town of
Fagersta, whose name roughly translates to Miserablerz, a term assigned them
by a bus driver that disliked their discordant noise. Subverting Bad
Religion's How Could Hell Be Any Worse for their own purposes, Asocial's
tracks are blindingly fast and Bedrövlers' down and dirty-rare Swedish
hardcore, at its best! |

Pello Joxepe is in the bar, but
this time he's moving his hips to the sound of Curtis Mayfield's Superfly
funk-soul Groove. These are the kind of psychedelic visions created by this
esoteric "Akelarre Sorta", an unparalleled gem. The African American
saxophonist, pianist and composer William S. Fischer, who worked in the 1950s
with stars of the stature of Ray Charles, Muddy Waters, Joe Zawinul and
Roberta Flack, in 1972 made an album of catchy, funky versions of popular
tunes. And that's it, as simple as it is mysterious and surprising. Little
more has ever been known about this recording or about the reasons behind
William's visit to the Basque Country. So here it is, ready to attract a new
audience to join the cult following it has gradually built up over nearly 50

Reissue
of demo originally selfreleased by the band as a tape in 1987. The legend of
Rzeszow new wave / cold wave / punk, despite the 27 year history in 2011 will
visit the LP. Earlier, in the 80's appeared only on singles and compilation.
A little late, but they recall their most punk incarnation of 1987. On the
turntables spin the demo called 'Why not?', Once issued band self-released on
cassette, in microscopic quantities. The material contains most of the
flagship works of that time in 1984, with biting irony punk portraying the
reality of the late totalitarian communism. Not for nothing did the name
Orwell founded. This team and this material is an excellent example of the
power of punk rock / new wave at the time. And besides - it let me on a personal
note - one of the most important points punk soundtrack of my childhood. The
quality of recordings differs from modern standards (it was not a
professional studio!), But modern mastering (Studio As One), it certainly has
improved, while the energy value of these pieces are in themselves
incredible. The material is enriched by bonuses from a year earlier, also
Rzeszow team session (winter 1986), presents a slightly more cold face
wave-ove 1984 |

And Out label head and all-round speed garage bubbler Xander joins the Breaks
N Pieces family with his sights firmly set on deep and dark 2-step grooves
following a string of killer Bandcamp releases through his own DIGI series.
Those with a keen ear for the emerging producers sound will have heard lead
track 'Restless' across the BBC Radio 1 airwaves as part of Jaguar's show;
Looney Tune inspired sound effects give a whacky feel to the growling
bassline and crisp percussion, before Break-a-Dawn provides a glimpses into a

Glow co-founder Denham Audio is no stranger to linking up with friends.
Running the label alongside fellow breaksmiths Mani Festo, LMajor and Borai,
the rave-focused producer has established the imprint as one of a leading
name in acid hooks, lairy basslines and whiplash-inducing breakbeats, and
here - on Cheeky Sneakers - he readies the release of five varied cuts of
lowend pressure and sky-high euphoria alongside Swankout, Thugwidow and Coco
Bryce. 'Good Time' does what it says. A cut of happy-hardcore inspired breaks
beamed straight from the Midlands; there is just enough headsy energy to keep
the chin-stokers entertained, whilst inspiring an emotional, smiling release
for those whose infatuations lie closer to ravey keys and Bangface Weekenders.
Swankouts second collaboration - 'Keep On' - is a growling slab of screw-face
electro and breaks, highlighting both producers' knack for finding the sweet
spot between varying forms of UK music - fast, hardcore and dutty, it's a
surefire party starter. Thugwidow is introduced on 'Testing My Patience'; the
producer has been making a name for himself with some excellent releases on
Sneaker Social Club and Circadian Rhythms, and here he and Denham Audio
combine on a chugging steamroller of malfunctioning, soulful riddims. It's a
dreamy meet on 'Close 2 Me' - Coco Bryce recently collaborated with Amy Dabbs
on an excellent jungle EP which received support from BBC Radio 1 and more,
and here the Netherlands produce brings his native hardcore spirit to the
surface on a pitched-vocal cut of jungle-techno. Seeing out the release is a
remix from emerging producer RAVETRX, who has recently enjoyed sessions on
Rinse FM and NTS alongside Roni and Hooversound Recordings co-label head

producer Yosh continues his hot streak of putting out a twelve inch a month
with typically breaksy, UK focused EP on Distant Horizons that further
earmarks the emerging artist as one of the producers to watch in 2021.
Following releases on Time Is Now and an announcement on Desert Sound
Colony's Holding Hands sub-label, Yosh serves up four steppers that navigate
us from the doors of the club to front left of the speaker. 'Don't Say' is a
fast cut of subby breakbeat-garage; the producer's knack for emotionally
stimulating vocal samples and peak-time basslines moving into the frame. 'All
That Acid' gives squirming acid lines and stripped-back percussion, mutating
the breaksy, UK energy into something more electro focused, and in doing so
provides what could be the score for an old racing video game, before 'Choose
One' takes us back into familiar Yosh territory with a cut of dreamy garage,
with the odd dubby wobble for good measure. We finish on a personal note with
'Home', a cut that epitomises that good feeling that can only come with
returning to a place of comfort; relaxed atmospherics and 2-step rhythms

Tred's
bio is a simple one. It reads "high power, deep emotion", and that
about sums up the Tred aesthetic. The Aussie born, Germany based producer has
been behind some of contemporary hard dance's most exciting anthems, and
follows up a release on 1O Pills Mate with this epic four-tracker for Lobster
Theremin. Capturing all the frantic energy of a Tred set, I'm Not Like Other
PPL gets underway with the title track - a punishing cut of stripped back,
high velocity techno. Old horror film vocal samples induce an old school,
psychedelic experience from within as the track builds and builds towards its
imminent climax. 'Dead Droid' maintains a spooky feel throughout, it's
off-key atmospherics and marching rhythm channeling that deep emotion that
Tred does so well, before 'Secrets' strays down a more melodic route with its
trancey stabs and hands-inthe-hair energy, unting the worlds of hard and
soft. 'Don't Need A Thing' ventures further into this trance-world, with an

label owner and Berlin based DJ and producer Ray Kandinski has been making
serious moves over the last few years, both through his ear for curation and
his rich, intricate sound design. Inspired by a pool of influences,
including; jungle, footwork and house - Kandinski believes the beauty of
dance music can be found in its subtlety and range; which can be heard deeply
running throughout his debut EP for Lobster Theremin. A ray of sunshine
shines through sparse breakbeats in opening track '95', before 'No love'
follows with a slightly more clubier affair, while still maintaining it's
blissful edge through the use of lush and dynamic synth work. 'Healing' then
closes the A side with it's minimal grooves, both hypnotic and understated;
light refracting from one medium to another in a colourful display of blue
and green. The B side makes its entrance with 'Zonin' a choppy house cut with
a point to prove, before demonstrating his artistic versatility in 'The Mack'
blending his way into an electro mutation laced with ravey stabs and punchy
drums, combining various influences from around the globe. Title track

loud release from Leeds vinyl enthusiast Peaky Beats. Never one to be
pigeon-holed into a specific style of music, his recent releases have
explored 2-step, speed garage and dub - bringing his wicked ear for big UK
blends into the spotlight - and earmarking him as one of the UK's most
exciting emerging producers. On Paradise Falls EP, Peaky Beats unites the
worlds of jungle, drum & bass and 2-step on a high velocity, future-facing
project, with a little help from contemporary jungle legend Tim Reaper.
'Paradise Falls' is a melodic stepper that ventures close to 150BPM
territory. Those skippy UKG elements are all there, but this time with a
hefty dose of jungle influence which brings a certain weightlessness to the

Fabric
resident Anna Wall and production partner Corbi link up again for the first
time since their debut EP 'DATs In The Attic' dropped on Ritual Poison in
2019. Between then, Anna has gone on to release music on her own label Dream
Theory and turned in a gorgeous deep cut for music platform 22 tracks' final
send off before closing. Corbi has been no stranger to production either,
heading up important label Fina records and releasing stand-out EPs on Rough
Recordings & Kouncil Cuts. The pairing bring their newfound knowledge to
LTWHT, shape shifting between colorful displays of breakbeat and melodic
perfume. Ahead of the release, Anna & Corbi spoke of their love of
digging into the past, delving into old techno and rave records and inspired
by artists like LFO. While the influences are apparent their sound remains
unique, contemporary and flourishing with personality. Title track
'Persistence' opens with choppy breakbeats and deep subs, adding extra depth
and weight; providing the perfect base for the record's shimmering synth
lines. 'Consciousness' then conjures wide-eyed atmospherics, joining hands
with a soothing, deep bassline and diamond shaped arpeggio. 'I'm just
changing consciousness' is gently spoken as the track ebbs and flows across
the oceans moon-lit surface. Subtly euphoric and inherently introspective, B
side opener 'Take A Moment' shows a developing side to the pair's growing
sonic palette. Early trance meets breakbeat, in an emotive display of
otherworldly electronics and primordial whispers. The tracks bassline and
lead add an extra layer of playfulness, turning the track from a cerebral
workout to a blissful dance around an open flame. The record comes to a close
with 'Regardless' an acid inspired dream that unfolds amongst a backdrop of
clouded pads and intoxicating patterns |

since gone on to release stellar projects on clipp.art and eclectic,
exploring everything from deep chugging delights to blissed out breaks and

took a while, but Coincidence is back on vinyl. And how: Serbian producer and
DJ Lag teams up with Belgian BEOT on the 'Patience EP' - a title that turned
into a bit of a prophecy as vinyl production seemed to take ages to cut
through the red tape and production issues spiralled out of control. The EP
is conceptualised around two original tracks from each artist. And in return,
they remixed each other's work. Four tracks, four vibes, one EP. Get you some
of that! 'Rokenrol' opens the A side with a massive drumroll infusion.
Unbelievable funky, wild, distorted and straight to the feet of anyone
standing on the dance floor: Lag delivers his signature dish. The second
track by BEOT, titled 'Problem of Conduct', is dark, slow, dirty and nasty.
Almost minimalistic although beneath the surface, an absolute belter lurks an
snaps at anyone daring to venture too close. On the other side, the remixes
take the originals to a completely different vibe. Lag's remix of 'Problem of
Conduct' keeps the dark vibe, but thrives on a massive broken beat and eerie
atmosphere. This sounds brutal on a big sound system. BEOT's remix of
'Rokenrol' on the other hand dumps the funky drums and goes for the heavy
straightforward approach. The result is an absolute growling distorted noise
monster that simply is amazing and effective. We hope you like the EP as much

Togni makes her TITDM debut with five uncompromising cuts, exploring the
darkest corners of techno and channeling her artistic expression in a flurry
of controlled yet innovative directions. This compulsion to work without
boundaries isn't new to Samantha, having always leaned toward a 'do it your
own way' attitude, leading to Samantha founding Boudica in 2017; a collective
aiming to give visibility to women and non binary artists through their
events, conference, radio show and podcast. 'Trust The Heat' rattles through
the speakers with its bone twitching bass, spilling out from its kickdrums
and marching forward at an unnerving pace. The accompanying grooves give way
to primal movements and an added layer of welcomed spice. There's no sing-songy
samples here, just a vocal phrase with the energy of a megaphone edging
through a busy club; guiding dancers to keep moving. 'No Pressure to Fit In'
follows up with its spiraling basslines opening and closing, providing the
movement against a backdrop of percussive power. Togni brings back the vocal

Bochum
Welt's 2019 LP 'Seafire' and its accompanying remix album are two of the
Central Processing Unit label's most beloved releases. However, links between
the two parties run far deeper than just those records. You see, the tracks
that Gianluigi Di Costanzo cut as Bochum Welt in the 1990s and 2000s are in
the very DNA of the celebrated Sheffield imprint. Bochum Welt's drops on
labels like Rephlex made for some of the most celebrated electronic music
releases of the era and went on to influence producers the world over -
including many of those who have turned up on CPU since it launched in 2012.
As such, it makes sense that two of the most crucial EPs from Bochum Welt's
first wave are now being given new life by CPU. 'Desktop Robotics' and
'Feelings On A Screen' initially emerged in 1997 via Aphex Twin's Rephlex
imprint. Now, Di Costanzo has curated this special CPU release to celebrate
both of those EPs making it to 25. This is a reissue with a twist, though.
While 'Desktop Robotics / Feelings On A Screen' features many crucial cuts
from the original pressings, the record also serves up other gems gathered from Bochum Welt's
original master tapes - all of which have never previously been released on
vinyl. The 'Desktop Robotics' cuts which make for the record's first half are
dreamy, impressionistic things. On this quartet, Bochum Welt plays painterly
synth work off of idiosyncratic drum programming to illuminating effect. The
opening title-track, for instance, blooms from a clattering, distorted beat
into an icily beguiling electronic soundscape, a vibe which carries through
to following number 'HMT (202 Mix)'. Things become more weightless on 'Leafs
Brought By The Wind', a potent vignette where you can almost see the leaves
falling amidst its reverb-drenched haze. We then get ethereal 'Marylebone
(Demo Version)'. Anyone who's heard the iteration of 'Marylebone' which
appeared on Bochum Welt's 2017 LP 'April' will be pleasantly surprised by
this alternate mix. Here the track pulls away from pretty post-minimalist
piano composition to widescreen ambience - it's so warm and intimate that it
feels like peeking behind a curtain to observe an artist at work. Things ramp
up a notch with the tracks taken from in and around 'Feelings On A Screen'.
The title cut kicks off the record's second half in limber fashion, its
nimble percussion programming dancing around a pulsing bassline. Like A Tim's
mix of 'Greenwich' is still as much of a party-starter as it was on the
original 'Feelings On A Screen' release, with the Djax-Up-Beats veteran
setting buoyant rhythm work against a playful, eccentric lead-line. Between
these tunes we are treated to one of the gems of the Bochum Welt discography |
