YELLOW VINYL.Mod revivalists the
Merton Parkas formed in the anonymous neighbourhood of Merton Park, southwest
London, with Danny Talbot on vocals and guitar, brot- her Mick on keyboards,
Neil Hurrell on bass, and future Wedding Present drummer, Simon Smith.
Discovered by punk journa- list Alan Anger, they signed to Beggar's Banquet
in 1979 for this riveting debut, which included the top-40 single, ou Need
Wheels,' as well as power-pop 'Plastic Smile' and reggae-influenced 'Give It
To Me Now.' This brilliant LP captures the band's dynamic start, emphasising
the glory days of their short-lived greatness, before Mick Talbot joined
Dexy's Midnight Runners and ultimately formed the Style Council with Paul
Weller |

Damian
Schwartz makes a welcome return to Pulp for his third full-length album, La
Sal De Tu Especie. The 11 track record was written over the last three years
as a way of coping with some tough experiences and features remixes from K15
and Gifted & Blessed. It once again finds the Madrid producer serving up
the sort of richly musical house that has always stood him apart. Schwartz
has been away for a while but emerged in the early 2000s with an artful take
on house music. As a student of jazz, composition and bass, his intricate
grooves have always been embellished with real melodic craftsmanship. In the
past, they have come on this label, Esperanza and A Harmless Deed which he
co-runs with Jose Cabrera. He has put out two albums before now and also
works under the Epiphany alias as a producer and live act. He is a real
master of his analog machinery and someone who never fails to bring fresh
ideas. This superbly adventurous and widescreen new album proves that once
again and shows off diverse influences such as 90s broken beat by acts like
Hanna and 4 Hero, the early IDM of LFO and Aphex Twin and the Detroit house
and electro styles of greats such as Juan Atkins, Teknotika, Marcellus
Pittman and Kyle Hall. It kicks off with Renacido which is a cinematic synth
opener that places you into orbit. La Elipa is expansive and jazzy house with
cosmic chord work over the tight, punchy kicks and Lopp then gets physical
with broken beat drums and funky bass dancing around each other to uplifting
effect. The superb Zwei Danke is another masterclass in off-grid beat
programming and soulful machine sounds that captures the essence of early
Detroit house. It is remixed by K15, a vital London beatmaker with credits on
labels like Eglo and Wild Oats. His version showcases rugged, lo-fi and dusty
drums softened by heart-melting chords and angelic vocal coos. Schwartz's
'Morro Da Urca' is a suspensory ambient interlude that makes way for the
crisp electro-funk and starry-eyed pads of 'Rufo,' then 'Meco' cuts loose
with boogie bass and glistening drums and perc that voyage through a whole
eco-system of bright, nebulous synths. 'Mika' is another out of this world
house composition with majestic leads and pixelated pads that bring warmth
and future soul. There is real electricity in the freeform keys and
corrugated drums of Coney Island that will ensure any dance floor takes off.
Final remixer Gabriel Reyes-Whittaker aka GB (Gifted & Blessed) is a
composer and sound artist whose music is a constant exploration of the bridge
between the technological and the ancestral. He flips 'Loop' into an
Afro-future jazz dance with infectious percussion and expressive chords that
never rest. La Sal De Tu Especie is a timeless fusion of jazz freedom and
house grooves that takes you into a magical new dimension |

Different's alter ego Terra Form explores the artist's tougher,
uncompromising self; creating music that meets the needs of the dance-floor
with the added ability to load us all into hyper-space. It's electro but with
an added sense of largeness, combining carefully selected sounds with rawness
at the center. 'Agripinaa' opens the EP with its commanding kick drums and
mind-altering electronics, sending a signal for those willing enough to hear
it. 'Trinity' then finds the perfect balance between grit and emotion;
distorting naturally airy synths and proving that beauty can be found even in
the most murky of sounds. After the record's raucous opening, the
ear-wiggling synths and wide-eyed electronics of 'Hydraulics Chamber' lure us
back in, before the record takes a surprising turn - the stripped-back
grooves of 'XV-88' show Terra Form's ability to use only a few nuanced sounds
in both a playful and endearing way, while leading us perfectly down the
meandering path to the record's closing sequence. 'MasterBlaster' couldn't be
a better suited name and covers almost all the bases. A time-shifting,
kinetic overcast that's both palpable and unapologetic. The Swedish based
producer has never reached for the brakes since his career began, merging
genres and melting minds. Now the age of Terra Form has well and truly begun |

exploded onto the scene last year with her folk, jazz and classical blend of
hard-hitting techno on Take Me Higher on Lobster Theremin. Now the
justoutside-of-Munich artist follows up one of the singles of the year with a
complete body of work exploring high velocity sounds and experiences, and
comes complete with two wicked remixes from Parisian producer Trudge and
Julian Muller. 'Vigour' is an intergalactic, bass-driven jam utilising CAIVAs
ghostly, folk-like vocals to haunting effect. A tale of two stories; the
majority of the track is destined for the club, whilst the breakdown provides
a pop-fuelled moment of contemplation. Emotional and powerful escapism. 'Take
Me Higher' follows this depth of inspiration with a blend of euphoria and
sadness with a high power cut of trance-techno that's as devastating as it is
beautiful. Julian Muller is first up on remix duties as he takes on 'Vigour';
a typically arcade-inspired trip through the modern trance-techno sound and
the highspeed aesthetic of the nineties, before Trudge closes with an

Chris
Hanna has been at the forefront of Irish electronic music for over eight
years, first through his work under Unknown with fellow Irish artist Gemma
Dunleavy and now as the formidable Carlton Doom. The Belfast based producer
has built a reputation as one of the most forward thinking, genre-merging
artists on the island, combining his love for techno, breaks and garage into
a growing palette of sonic decompression. Now the Belfast hit-man steps up
with another exploration of deconstructed techno, screw-face bass and
otherwise unknown substances not fit for human consumption. Opener 'Binmen Of
The Apocalypse' features a heavy drum-work perfect for peak-time and the type
of bassline that lights a fire under any dance-floor; while 'E-Machine' adds
swing with it's killer low-end, bouncing between tenacious beats and choppy
vocoder samples. Wrapping up the A-side is 'I Am the Creator' a signature
Carlton Doom track with it's weighty kick-drums and uncompromising structure,
bulldozing it's way through your speakers. On the flip 'Insects and Jelly'
and 'Scatterbrain' share the same DNA; both seeping with personality and a
total disregard for the rules; as the EP then comes to a close with a

Ivano
Tetelepta's Siena invites a close group of homies from the Dorcas imprint,
all hailing from Arnhem, The Netherlands. Having collaborated before with a
few known (and unknown) appearances from Ivano on the Dorcas label now it's
time to give this crew a warm welcome to Siena. Since Siena is a family
affair from the beginning its purpose always has been to spread and push
beats from befriended and likeminded pals around Ivano himself. After many
delays and a busy release schedule its finally time to shine a light on
Julien Fuentes' Dorcas crew. Presenting a full pack with a wide range of
styles, label owner Julien Fuentes kicks off with the bouncy two-stepper
'Classic Style'. John Mood quickly joins with a summer anthem pur sang, take
the 'Blue Pill' and dive into a tranc-y world full of smiles and joy. The
biggest contribution comes from Sennin, with four tracks he presents his take
on gritty grooving tech-house. His dubs are floating around in the
Arnhem/Nijmegen underground for a while, finally they see the light of the
