GREEN VINYL. Neo-Mod act the
Carpettes began as a Stones-influenced school band, formed in the small
northeast Norman town of Houghton-le-Spring in the mid-l97Os, the trio of
frontman Neil Thompson, bassist George Maddison, and drummer Kevin Heard
shifting to punk before signing to Small Wonder as a Mod revival act. By the
time they joined the Beggar's Banquet roster in 1978, Heard was replaced by
Tim Wilder (with Simon Smith of the Merton Parkas briefly in the fold).
Sophomore album Fight Amongst Yourselves is arguably their best, the
appealing material ranging from the socially-relevant power-pop of the title
track and the pop-punk of 'The Reason I'm Lonely' to the reggae cadences of
'The Last Lone Ranger' |

Like
meeting an old friend again, Dalmata Daniel welcomes DJ Overdose back to
their catalog. Six years ago the infamous Dutchman's '05 Poly 800 Loop' EP
was released, which served as a powerful launch to Dalmata Daniel, opening
the first chapter in their story. Later in 2019, a split release with
Sematic4 was also a highlight in the life of the label; and now, 3 years
later, DJ Overdose checks in with the 'Powers of Ten EP' with a J. Mono
remix, available both in digital and vinyl format, the latter having 2 bonus
tracks. The distinct, crunchy sound of DJ Overdose, bearing aspects of old
school hip-hop-infused sampling and contemporary analog vibes creates the
perfect blend of both worlds. 'Garden of Lust' opens up the adventure with a
combo of warm basslines and solid drum-programming. This initial track feeds
us these cardinal elements as the bread and butter they are: subtle
variations and fine spices do appear here and there as the track goes along,
but the key, beating pulse in 'Garden of Lust' brings massive hits stable as
a sledgehammer in the hands of a blacksmith. 'Feed The Beats' elevates the
game to cinematic territories: its majestic string-like central melody makes
me alert and ablaze, making me feel like I'm in a late 80s L.A. setting facing
malevolent zombie-aliens in my Wayfarer shades. Blasting beats and
Carpenterian coolness all over the place, while the spooky bassline just
keeps sneaking up on me endlessly. If you are wondering when's the best time
of the year to bring out your boombox at last, then this is your lucky day:
with 'BOB', the first bonus track on the vinyl, we can experience some
roarin' bassdrums, snappy snares, MCs with the speed of light and all that
jazz. The low-bit sampling and vinyl scratching come and kick you right in
the face so hard that it becomes pretty obvious you'll can't help but start
some serious beatbox battles in your bathtub with your rubber duck. A
feverish groove in the prime time of a funky bash, in the haze of a sensual
rave-up: that's all one really wants when going for a Saturday night out. We
definitely get this and much more from 'Room 714', another vinyl-only bonus
track. A berserk voice and ethereal chords guide us through this mysterious
track, but while we are busy trying to impress our crushes on the dance
floor, things around us are slowly getting very, very freaky, maybe a bit way
too freaky. As wobbly and jolly as it gets, our Dutch friend ends his session
with 'Drive Me Crazy', a vocoder-heavy disco banger, full of merry vocal FX
and smart rhythmic glitches as he completes his flight. To close the EP, our
local hero, J. Mono delivers an insane remix of 'Drive Me Crazy': one can
clearly imagine how he grabs and turns the BPM knob all the way up, fires up
some arpeggios on his mighty synths and casts a complete reimagination of the
original track |

A
new EP by UK DJ / producer, Controlled Weirdness lands on Cultivated
Electronics Ltd (CE's vinyl only sister label) in July. Heads will know
Controlled Weirdness (real name Neil Keating) from his monthly radio show on
Threads, his Presence Unknown label and Electric Sweat events. But he's
actually been rocking the decks since the mid-'80s when as a youngster,
Electro and early '80s pirate radio started his obsession with electronic
music and he played his first gig at "The House of Dolls" in
Farringdon where he soon became resident. After a stint in New York from 1989
he met Joel Bevacqua aka DJ Deadly Buda, who after returning to his hometown
of Pittsburgh invited Neil to play at the first ever rave there in 1991,
leading to a 6-month stint of events. Neil eventually returned to London in
1992 and started a radio show on pirate station Chillin FM alongside his
sister, Stacey (later known as NoYeahNo). Many more events followed until in
1996 he formed Unearthly Records. Since then, he has played worldwide from
plush clubs to dirty warehouses and has appeared on a variety of labels
including Audio Illusion, Control Tower, Praxis, Zhark, Dirty Needles, Fdb
and Still Raven. On 'In The Shadows' he delivers 4 earthy and raw Electro
cuts with exciting electronics, tough beats and wonky acid |

Dark
Entries presents a reissue of Shawn Pittman?s 1989 Dreams, an obscure and
highly sought-after private press gem produced and written by Art Forest. An
undersung figure in the development of the late 80?s Detroit techno sound,
Forest collaborated with, produced, or penned material for many of the key
players in the movement, including Inner City, Suburban Knight, and the
Belleville Three themselves (on Kreem?s ?Triangle of Love?). This reissue
gives Forest?s own productions some shine while providing a thrill for both
dancers and collectors. Dreams features two songs, both written and produced
by Art Forest and featuring Shawn Pittman on vocals. The A-side contains two
mixes of ?Dreams?, a smooth R&B/modern soul number driven by Pittman?s
vocal. While the song is undeniably radio-friendly, it contains some of the
hallmarks of the Detroit techno sound ? sparse arrangement, lush reverb, and
booming bass. On the B-side, we are treated to two different versions of the
clubbier ?I?m Losing Control?. The original mix leans towards
boogie/freestyle, with syncopated 909 beats and sassy synth vamps, and
wouldn?t sound out of place next to Forest?s work with Inner City. The
Extended-Bass-ment Club Mix strips things down and dubs them out, leaving us
with shards of bass synth, brooding strings, and Pittman?s vocals eerily
warped to the edge of recognition; a perfect late-night warehouse anthem. All
songs were remastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios. The sleeve is a

Regarded
as one of the greats from Detroit, Rick Wade has crafted an incredible
discography of tracks blurring the lines somewhere between deep house and
techno with a sound and style brilliantly his own. His outstanding 'Timeless
EP' from 2017 returns to Elypsia Recordings with an onslaught of remixes
delivered by a diverse and unstoppable roster of modern musical mavericks -
each respectfully twisting the original magic of Rick's original productions
and creating a fresh take in their own style. The Way I Am' comes in the
shape of Tresilo aka Oliver Way (of Detroit Grand Pubahs), Esteban Adame and
Ben Long (of Space DJz) and is an absolute belter of a prime-time stormer.
Dominated by gigantic synth melodies, the track weaves around percussive
alterations with hi-hats, sharp claps and energetic rides paired perfectly
with the catchy musical wiggles and kicks. The familiar vocal sample from the
original sneaks into play with perfect placement - offering a reminder of
Rick Wade's awesome original. Rick's previously unreleased track, 'Academy'
receives the first of two remixes from Seattle house hero Pezzner. The 'CR2'
Remix takes the groove into subterranean territories with a heads down
bouncer of a track, fully embracing Pezzner's more house-focused approach. A
percolating bassline keeps the cut moving ahead while soft, divine pads offer
a classy sonic texture suitable for wide-eyed ravers and urban headphone
listeners alike. Detroit's Vintage Future joins the remix roster with his
take on 'Planet Deep,' one of the standout cuts from the original EP. The
track is absolutely saturated with Detroit soul. Deep, machine driven
textures and gorgeous otherworldly melodies rest alongside a truly infectious
groove. The famed keyboardist for Model 500's live gig, Vintage Future knows
clearly how to craft an incredible groove with his keys, and the sounds from
this impeccable remix are tip top. The second remix of 'Academy' from Pezzner
continues his remix focus in a deeper house mindset, with Pezzner delivering
even softer sounds, and more intense pad dynamics. This retouch includes the
addition of some gorgeous orchestral stabs and organ textures which gives the
remix a soulful touch - made to focus on a slightly more melodic approach
than the previous Pezzner rework |

reboot for Detroit's legendary Metroplex. The Label Say "Cologne based
producer Bas Grossfeldt has crafted an outstanding release perfectly aligned
with Juan Atkin’s brilliant Metroplex aesthetic. As a relatively new name in
the scene, Bas Grossfeldt’s music sounds as if it were the results of decades
of focused experience in the studio. With a background in installation,
choreography and performance art, Bas Grossfeldt is the artists alias to
focus on the musical side of things. His deeply rooted interest in the
relation of space and body is also translated into his music. The fusion of
spaced-out textures, rhythmical distortions, cold waves of synthesis, and
enough modern production prowess ensures a release saturated with innovation
and abundant imagination. A rare release for the seminal Detroit label, which
also represents Juan Atkins’ interest in the arts world and new, different
approaches. The exchange between the label head and the artist, initially
came to life because internationally renown conceptual artist Mischa Kuball,
knowing Juan from a joint project, sent him the demo of Bas Grossfeldt.
Especially intrigued by the track „Lost In Translation“, Juan and Bas started
exchanging, approaching the record as an „art project“ and a classical EP at
the same time, for example leading into the cover being made by Bas
Grossfeldt/Søren Siebel himself and including numerous hidden references to
the sound. Each track embraces an incredible array of sounds and styles, from
soundscapes to mind-bending Techno – all equally as effective for the brain
as the dancefloor. “Lost In Translation” opens the release with a cinematic
piece of electronica permeating with frozen emotion and melancholic soul. The
beautiful track captures a foggy morning’s haze, the first chill of winter
with only a gentle kick-drum keeping the cold from completely taking over. It
is also accompanied with a hypnotizing abstract video by film-artist Svenja
Voß. Continuing in a dubby, winter haze is “Lost In Sensation” which floats

the VOI 031 Voitax enters a new series of releases that will continue to
expand the labels explorative musical and visual output with more talent. The
series kicks of with no one less than IMOGEN, who was bursting out on the
scene only a few years ago. Ever since, she established herself as an
ambitious selector behind the decks and became a prominent figure in the
world of dance music. Her first solo EP "What?" on Voitax presents
a strong package of five tracks that clearly reflect the influence of her
homelands prosperous electronic music heritage. A distinguished set of breaks
are fusionend with Electro, IDM, and Hardcore without ever loosing touch to
its groovy rhythmics. While this release is certainly loaded with strong
dance floor material, the quality of her production process remains
remarkable. The roughness and edginess of the entire EP reveal a strong
connection to her 808 and modular system, that helped to create unique
textures and granular soundscapes. Instead of resampling UK sample packs over
and over again, IMOGEN is ambitious to create her own signature sound through
a sequence of personalized studio equipment. With this approach she manages
to fusion a punky style of 90's rave culture with sophisticated futuristic sound
processing. Each track meets a different atmosphere, as the approach to
rhythm, speed, sound and arrangement evolves from the beginning to the end -
yet, they all remain part of the same story. We are delighted to welcome

Bones Wax presents release number two on their vinyl only label, this time
enlisting an artist who is making waves on the scene, Carlo Gambino. Some of
Carlo’s previous vinyl outings have been on established labels such as
Cinthie’s We R House, Okain’s Ball Park, Frank Roger’s Real Tone and Ewax
Editions while gaining support from heavyweight DJ’s such as Raresh,
Silverlining and Matt Tolfrey, amongst many others. With future wax releases
slated for labels One of 4, Discotech, 3AM, Echoes of Glory and Audio
Analysts over the coming year, you could say he is a man in demand! Here he
supplies two original tracks with a remix of each from Goshawk and David
Moran respectively. Kicking off the EP is the first original track from Carlo
titled “You and Me”. A modern deep feel and catchy vocal make this track a
real killer. Goshawk (Half of deep house legends Rhythm Plate) serves up a
tough underground remix of “You and Me” with an American influence for the A2
track. Over on the flip Carlo’s second original composition is “Get Back”.
Sitting firmly in the deep house camp but with minimal elements and cut up
vocals it purveys a killer groove. Finishing off the EP is the David Moran
remix which is a full on dancefloor destroyer. Jacking beats, vocal snippets
and a heavy bassline work a treat to finish off the EP |

Friendship is a core value of Milligramme. Unspecial’s track
“Der Freund I” and Deadbeat’s “Sands of Time Dub” are another chapter of a
long story of mutual understanding between Hilmar Reusch a.k.a. Unspecial and
select Canadian artists. This record involved consulting Manifest Audio's
Noah Pred, who introduced him to Scott Monteith, better known as Deadbeat.
Pred and Reusch’s paths first crossed in 2003 in Barcelona at the Sonar
Festival. Ever since, the two have exchanged thoughts about music, the world,
time, and place. Monteith and Reusch opened an expansive discussion about
sustainability and the future of music, Chloé Gastinel did some flirting with
the dark, Jörn Elling-Wuttke mastered it,and took care of its spirit.

long-time minimal instigators, what Italoboyz don’t know about stripped back
grooves isn’t worth knowing. Written and produced by one half of Italoboyz
Marco Donato, ‘Madam’ EP is Superfiction Recordings’ 16th outing and is as
crisp as the day the day is long. Lead track ‘Madam’ combines a straight up
house beat with expertly strummed strings and an undulating bassline to
create a bobbing and weaving head turner. On the flip of this Pager Records
artist Phil Evans takes the original and spices things up with a nicely blown
bass tones as well as his trademark funk and a dashing of acid. Not wishing
to waste time on overly complicated drum sequences ‘Unisanza’ instead
concentrates on the groove and layers up huge doses of raw synth lines and
detuned xylophone elements to conjure up lost afternoons on a sunny terrace.
‘Rude Evin’ rounds out Superfiction Recordings with a tightly woven rhythmic

Following
outings on Rinse FM and HOR, German producer Rove Ranger takes aim on the
next release of Lobster Theremin's full-blooded techno assault; 4 very
different cuts of pulsating, bass-driven techno that have one eye in the rear
view mirror and the other firmly fixated ahead. 'CS80' is an aquatic,
rhythmic experience; bubbling with blues, greens and pinks in a techno
climate so often associated with grey. A beautiful blend of the new and old
school. Tough, but with a touch of soul. 'Millennial Millenium' is a blissful
trip through neighbouring underworlds and spirit hollows, unrelenting kicks
and ghostly atmospherics crafting a cut of psychedelic graveyard techno. 'La
Manana' is more of a heads-down affair. Punchy bass accompanies the kicks on
a track that instantly captivates; less concerned with emotion and more with
increasing heart rates; it's a tripped-out, bouncy experience that screams
fun. The EP is rounded off with 'Horse On Acid'. Have you ever seen a horse

MOTHER125: The one and only Mother Recordings welcome the always firing NiCe7
for a pair of red hot dance floor bombs. The Italian duo have released on the
likes of DFTD, Crosstown Rebels, Snatch! and Mother previously, and they
return to Mother with another couple of dance floor bombs. „Disco Change“
kicks off with a razor sharp groover, rock solid kicks and plenty of tense
synths. Once a big vocal arrives to bring diva qualities and lung busting
hooks the whole tune goes to another level and will really blow the roof off.
„Look At Me“ then has a perfectly slinky groove with a real sense of skip to
it. The hi hats are icy cold, the kick drums flap underneath, and then some
old school chords come in to really get those hands in the air next to

It was natural to entrust the second release to Ricky Leo,
label’s boss Lele Franza long time friend and co-funder of the Pennyroyal
Dancing After Tea Party in Milan. Ricky’s two tracks represent a turning
point in the artist's sound, which is always recognizable, yet evolving.
Ethereum is a fresh tune, melodic and groovy at the same time. Its pads and
dramatic atmospheres will accompany you throughout the journey. The remix
come from the unmistakable touch of Vlad Arapasu, the unconventional
atmospheres, the way which the original sounds are treated make this remix a
minimal dark bomb. Rig is hypnotic, punchy and suitable for multiple

Bristol based producer Gilbert steps into the time machine with
this wonderful EP that sonically and spiritually connects to the early works
of Warp pioneers such as B12, LFO and Speedy J. First track Ylem starts with
a strong kick but is nevertheless a subtle builder that directs you straight
to deep space. Shift the Focus, the opener on the flip, may well be the EP's
most suitable track for the (dreamy) dance floor - the cut's dense melodies
and subtle 303 flavours work well with Gilbert's rhythm section and would
slowly but surely draw you into a psychedelic swamp when played in a club.
The tracks Lucid Dream and Are We Alone are even a bit more otherworldly and
fitted for an armchair listen. A big tip for anyone into layered, mind
bending UK techno! |

Evar Records and Craigie Knowes signee Wheez-ie. The A1 launches the release
with familiar territory for the LA-based producer on "Stolen
Moments" - with in-your-face rave vocals, wild synth spits and acid hits
combining in a wild breakbeat banger. The pace continues in to straight up
4-4 territory on the A2 with "Fire Drill", where charging drum work
and unruly synthesiser design swing alongside delinquent bleeps and bloops in
this chaotic rave techno offering. On the flip the B1 keeps the energy up
with "Guttermouth" - another boisterous slab of wonky techno full
of unpredictable beeps, rave stabs, and frisky drum rhythms guaranteed to provide
those "WTF?!" moments in the club. The B2 closes the record with a
remix of the B1 from Berlin-based American producer False Witness, who
transforms the track in to a nimble four-to-the-floor assault combining

Brewing
another supremely heavy release on the horizon, Moonshine Recordings is
stealing the spotlight once again. Proudly presenting Violinbwoy's first solo
album, unadulterated sound system pressure at its finest. Slavic chants and
drum rhythms meet the unrivaled power of Violinbwoy's eccentric take on
modern bass music 'Fyetisov' kicks off the stellar 3x12" release with a
high-powered Stepper emission. Setting the tone with a rumbling bassline and
supremely energetic lead instrumentation, full force sound system music down
to its core. Shining in a different light, 'Moonspell' reveals its
melancholic nature gradually intensifying through otherworldly percussion and
anthemic vocal sample placements. Stripped down to its bare bones, 'Dubplate'
unleashes its detuned, percussive shackles for a massive onslaught of
four-to-the-floor, while keeping true to Jamaica's music roots. Warbling tape
echo spheres and excellence in emotive expression Violinbwoy's collaboration
with singer Marina P turns out to be an anthem by itself enthralling, whoever
gets caught into the midst of this hymn of a track. Not backing down one step
from the established level of quality, 'Sound System' featuring Junior Dread
excels once more in a crystal-clear demonstration of modern roots music
mandatory repeat listening. Rejoicing in simplicity, 'Rig Alert' holds true
to what the name suggests - cinematic bass meditation, fluidly scaling with
the size of its speaker counterpart. Moving on to Dan s vocal skills in
'Wanted': Rastafarian wisdom chanting along a skanking rhythm and orchestral
atmosphere. Ethereal bells being submerged in moving air and scattered white
noise, 'Run & Hide' demonstrates a more experimental side within the LP
exhibiting Downtempo/Ambient inclinations in a magnificent combination with
Dub characteristics, only increasing in energy to the call of the dub siren.
Ready for more, the title track 'dod' captures us within the expressive,
introductory playing of the violin, deserting it for echoes and sub
oscillations alike. Calling upon the prowess of Rider Shafique, his harmonic
toasting is being escorted by a forward-minded halftime groove in 'Find The
Way'. Topping the LP off with Sis' excellence in telling a story through song
on a hypnotic instrumental. The nature of last tunes is often powerful,
serving to concede with an explosion, appropriate of the session as is the
case with 'Surfacing' closing off the monumental EP with visceral lead
movements, setting the tone alongside driving drums and one more murderous
bassline, sure of receiving countless rewinds in the near future.
Encompassing a plethora of current Roots- Dub- and Steppa- influenced styles,
Moonshine's next LP installment is sure to be received for what it is: a
definitive, quality expedition of what's firing up dance floors around the
globe |

Belfast-born, Rotterdam-based producer Kessler is back by
popular demand. Endless EP - his second SNF release - sees him continue in
the spirit of the previous one, deftly capturing moods and building worlds
through breaks. Some of these enchanting worlds are cushioned by warm tonal
melodies and an instrumental quality ("Endless"). Others are harder
to navigate, with skittish drum workouts which clatter around an
