Eddie & the Hot Rods prefaced punk and pioneered what would later be
deemed 'pub rock' through a raucous offshoot of ramp that was definitely
ahead of its time, with hefty doses of raw power and humour. Signing to Island
Records would bring them lasting fame, and these rough and rowdy demos date
from just before the ink was dry, when Lew Lewis was still a prominent
presence on harmonica, capturing them on the cusp of the Teenage Depression
breakthrough. Early cuts of 'Wooly Bully,' 'Get Out Of Denver' (with Vic
Maile on piano), 'Double Checkin' Woman' and 'Been So Long' have to be heard

Sanna
Mun debuts on her imprint, Katabasis, with a three techno cut EP (vinyl &
digital). Sanna Mun is an interdisciplinary artist based in Berlin. Her
approach to production is inspired by her work as an archaeologist, using
digital modeling and field recordings of ancient sites to extract their
psychoacoustics. Sanna's multifaceted sound ranges from ambient to mental and
classic techno. Her sense for organically evolving motifs drives her live
sets, which resolve to induce a state of meditation. Sanna's music has
already received support from O [Phase], Developer, and other mainstay techno
names. Katabasis started out as an experimental techno event at Sameheads in
Neukolln, Berlin in collaboration with local musicians and visual artists.
The vision behind the project is to springboard underrepresented artists
reinventing minimal, hypnotic and early techno. Its name and imagery derive
from Western esotericism, rooted in Sanna's experience as an archaeologist
specializing in occult sciences. The label's first release features tracks
exploring Pythagoras' musica universalis, planetary frequencies informed by
her studies with Luz Peuscovich |

Kicking off with direct, subtle
and in-tune basement dust, Skudge has managed to capture two weekend modes.
This is a soundtrack for either those apprehensive moments, where things
start to fall into place and the crowd is rest assured that this will be a
time to remember. But Soundworks is also the soundtrack for those areas that
turn party-goers into altered silhouettes, captured between strobe light
flashes. Those types of situations, where the smoke and sweat meet in between
the last dances. From start to finish, the fourth album carries a sound that
is coherent. What Soundworks means, is that all of the nine tracks on the LP
are multi-dimensional, without losing traction. There are adrenal spikes but
there are also drifters - most significant in the tracks 'Floating', 'Scape'
and 'Likemind'. All-in-all, what we have here is a return to form for Skudge,
with a capital S |

The
record is his first bonafide 140bpm record and a staggering body of work that
shows the genius levels of one of electronic music's most respected auteurs.
Across the 13 tracks, he transcends through space and time, creating music
that will take the listener on a weighty sonic journey. The album
announcement is accompanied by two dub versions "Bad" and
"Badder" deconstructed from the track "Badman" with DRS
from Mark Ernestus available via his Hardwax store January 29th and Bandcamp
February 12th. "Getting to work with Mark Ernestus is a real honour, I
collected Basic Channel, Rhythm & Sound and his other work for many years
and still do. It's hard to avoid the influence of this guy in electronic
music across genres and so it is a real pleasure to have him do his thing
with the Badman tune which I think sounds closely related." All of the
tracks on the record have been road-tested in Calibre's DJ sets over the last
2/3 years with many of them being sought-out by his hardcore fans. It was
only a matter of time then that he put them out for all to consume. With a
nod to the dancefloor, the clear idea for the album came about following the
release of his most personal album to date "Planet Hearth".
"It still works in the headspace but ultimately it's been written for
the sweaty club experience we miss now, also after an album like Planet
Hearth it felt very liberating to do," he remarks. When writing albums,
he often just puts it down to the general chaos of life, not citing any one
influence but generally just waits to see what comes. With one of the tracks
on the album written 7 years ago on the island of Valentia, It became a
project that he spent the intervening years collecting tracks for, not really
knowing when he was going to put it together as an album. "The whole
album is special to me, everything on there has import and meaning beyond for
me, I have spent much time on all these and hope they are special for other
people too." Belfast-born, Berlin-based Calibre - AKA Dominick Martin -

July 22nd Mutant Joe unveils his debut release for Evar, 'Wrong Way Out', an
EP that twists rap, electro and breaks out of shape with cool malice. Since
his arrival on the scene with a pair of 2019 releases for UK-based label
Natural Sciences, the Brisbane-based producer's output has spanned
underground trap,gabber, electro, jungle,breaks and various global club
mutations, repackaged and delivered with a unique sense of impending threat
and unhinged delight. Mutant Joe repurposes mechanical SFX, stock horror
movie samples, feedbacking hardware and crunching percussion to create a dark
and theatrical soundworld. Building on his earlier work with underground trap
artists like Freddie Dredd and TRiPPJONES, opener 'Bangin On' sees Joe
revisit his love for dirty-south-indebted electro hybrids, combining fizzing
bass and steely beats, plus rhymes courtesy of a close friend, Atlanta rapper
Apoc Krysis. 'Static Effect' deploys similar Drexciyan influences, its
overheating 808s colliding with aquatic machinery and disembodied vocal
chops. 'Eyes Without a Face' presents a unique take on some classical rave
combinations, with rolling, metallic jungle breaks, footwork-esque kicks and
tightly layered, redlining hardware. The pace eases off on the ominous and aptly-named
'The Living Dead', a low slung, off-kilter breakbeat weapon. The EP closes
with a pair of remixes: a twisted dungeon-rave tool by Ukrainian D&B
specialist Limewax, and a tightly wound, detailed broken techno workout by
EVAR regular Wheez-ie. 'Wrong Way Out' offers six wildly different
approaches, united by Joe's mastery of gothic-horror sound design and unique

the years after her husband John's 1967 death, Alice Coltrane, newly widowed
with four children as she entered her thirties, suffered through a harrowing
period of severe weight loss, hallucinations, and self-inflicted wounds that
included burns where blackened skin fell off her hands. In her 1977 memoir
Monument Eternal, Coltrane refers to this ordeal as tapas, a crucial time of
trial, tribulation, and transition designed to cleanse and enhance her
spirit. Emerging from it, she embraced the Hindu philosophy of Advaita
Vedanta, moved herself and her family to California, and founded the Vedantic
Center in 1972. Nearly a decade later, having received revelations to abandon
the secular life and become a teacher in the Hindu tradition, she fully
focused her music on her spiritual journey, making it available exclusively
to her students via cassettes sold at the ashram she had built in 1983. The
first of these, Turiya Sings, has Coltrane sing/chanting devotional songs in
Sanskrit amid her Wurlitzer organ, synthesizer, strings, and sound effects.

(née Anna Mae Bullock) caught a performance of Ike Turner's Kings of Rhythm
at St. Louis nightclub and practically begged Ike to let her sing with the
band. Ike refused, as only men were allowed to sing in his group at the time,
but she persisted, and once he heard Tina sing he wouldn't let her stop.
Since that fateful meeting, the world of R^B has never been the same. Ike
& Tina Turner's Kings of Rhythm Dance is their second long player,
originally released in 1961, and it is full of stompers, rippers, and all
around rocking R&B magic. Ike's guitar tone and style are the perfect

From
"Made By Desire" to "Remade By Desire": The Uncanny
Valley label from Dresden, Germany curates a remixed and reworked version of
the debut album by local pop heroes ATNA and takes us on a trip through
various styles of Club Music, electronic Pop excursions and music college
Rock'n'Roll. When ATNA sent the German pop world and beyond into rapture with
their debut album "Made By Desire" in 2020, the Uncanny Valley crew
was also very excited by the duo's life-affirming pop concept. Soon, the idea
of a cooperation came up. Since both the band and the label operate from
their base in Dresden, contacts were quickly made and the first meeting was
so productive that the plan for a collaborative remix and rework album was
soon turned into action. Uncanny Valley put together a selection of
stylistically diverse artists that took account for the various influences in
ATNA's music and reflect the multifaceted sounds of the Uncanny Valley label
cosmos. After the initial idea two years ago, "Remade By Desire" is
now an album that puts the ATNA songs into new musical context, but sounds
surprisingly coherent given the stylistic diversity of the artists involved.
It's as if all the musicians had attended a studio retreat for a week and
experimented with what is possible when you mix their respective skills. The
result is a true crossover album that takes us from edgy techno over
orchestral ambient to jazzy punk and challenges without overchallenging |

After
11 years of existence, Gratitude Trio releases on September 2nd, 2022 its 4th
album " Birth" on the remarkable Belgian label W.E.R.F. RECORDS in
partnership with Mercury and Collectif Koa from Montpellier, France.
Protagonists Jeroen Van Herzeele (sax, analog synths), Alfred Vilayleck
(electric bass, fx) and Louis Favre (drums, fx) worked for more than a year
on this new album, continuing to develop the musical framework of the
previous album: a blend of sensitivity and groove, contemplative vocals and
raging solos. Mixing acoustic and electronic sounds, the compositions of
reflecting realities that inhabit them: to let oneself be touched by the
beauty and the dark sides of life, to be amazed by nature, to accept what we
cannot change, to create bonds, to commit ourselves to fulfill ourselves.
Music that is both sophisticated and organic, with an energy and boldness
that characterize them. Gratitude Trio is a Belgian/French band based in
Brussels known for their strength and sensitivity that open people's hearts.
The music of this power trio is tinged with spacy sounds, African rhythms,
sexy grooves, endless trances, sensitive ballads, crazy free jazz, and a
large dose of unpredictability. Gratitude exists since 2010 and has performed
in prestigious venues in Europe. Their two first albums «Gratitude» and
«alive» released in 2012 and 2015 under the label El Negocito Records have
been very well received by the critics and the enthusiastic audience. The 3rd
album «Gratitude III» was released in April 2018: new sound, new approach,
but same soul. Gratitude Trio impressed! Indeed, voices and EWI (Electronic
Wind Instrument) enrich the sound palette while the musicians have developed
a new way to create together. The brand new 4th album "Birth" is an

For
Oleg Azelitskiy, known as DJ Slon, the nineties and the first half of the
aughts were an era of "firsts". First squat parties on the banks of
the Obvodny Canal and more legitimate ones at Tunnel, first proper techno
club in Russia. First DJ sets, first vinyl records in his collection, first
radio shows at Port FM. He is a true veteran of the Russian techno movement,
who carried his love for the genre through three decades and inspired more
than one generation of musicians. Album Nr. 1 is the first edition of his
music on vinyl. It comprises the music that Azelitskiy made during 1995 -
2005, except for the track My 40th Vesna, produced in 2010. Azelitskiy's love
for techno was born out of contradictions. Thanks to the Soviet synth band
Zodiac and the French pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre, he had loved electronic
music since his childhood. When he grew up, he got into the dark,
introspective pieces by Einsturzende Neubauten and Bauhaus. Not only does the
wide-ranging palette on Album Nr. 1 reflect its creator's taste, it echoes
the changing times of the Russian nineties. It was the time when
confrontations with criminals were inseparable from the parties and
get-togethers bustling with local artists. His affection for various genres
led to many monikers and projects, all represented here on Album Nr. 1. He
recorded most of his music as DJ Slon. Then there was a project Zhutkiy Lazer
(Scary Laser), where Azelitskiy made music that was more experimental but
still techno-oriented, with the occasional help of his friend Aleksey
Gaponenko (Lazer became a proper solo project of DJ Slon in 1999). There are
also tracks under the aliases Mass Fatality, which combined techno and
synth-pop, and Razrushiteli Mozgovych Uliev (Brain Hive' Destroyers), with
its more direct tight techno tracks. The music of DJ Slon sounds fresher and
more alive on Album Nr. 1 than ever before. Noticeably, this record, first
and foremost, is dance music. As a voice on one of the album tracks boldly

Universal Vibrations is my most
personal project to date. I came back from a month long trip to Brazil
feeling very inspired during the start of lockdown and decided to experiment
with some slower BPMs for the first time after producing dubstep for the last
15 years. This album is the result. One tune came flying out after the other
during a crazily productive 2 month period. I was so happy with the beats I
thought I'd get some of my favourite MCs on board so spent the next 8 months
organizing and mixing down the vocal features. It all happened very naturally
and very quickly, it was just waiting to pop out! To say I'm proud of this
album is an understatement. 2 years in the making, I can't wait for you all
