Techno
trailblazer Amelie Lens presents her new EP 'In My Mind' on her own Lenske
imprint, containing three explosive techno tracks. Belgium's Lenske Records
presents its next EP from label head Amelie Lens. The release marks a
considerable high point of Lens' career, hot on the heels of the launch of
her radio show and dropping just before her debut Ibiza residency with sister
label EXHALE. 'In My Mind' will mark Amelie's first solo release on the label
since 2020 and follows her collaboration with Airod on 'Raver's Heart' EP
late last year. The EP also was inspired by electrifying visuals that Amelie
takes on the road and showcases at selected gigs. Title track 'In My Mind'
opens proceedings with blasts, bangs and heavy reverbs whilst Amelie's voice swirls
above. The build-up gives way to furious claps, and spiking synths that
continue to dance around the vocal sample in a ruthless march. The beat is
unrelenting with a venomous, pulsing bassline that creates this raw and
atmospheric techno cut, while bubbling keys maintain vitality and lightness
with their careful arrangement. Multiple elements come into play for
subsequent track 'First Light'. A stripped back kick synchronizes with
distorted pads for the opening, soon accompanied by a heavier kick-drum
counterpart and lick of acid to inject some sharpness. The true DNA of the
track is the programmed claps and dark pads that rise and fall menacingly
throughout, as splashes of effects are thrown into the mix. Final track on
the record 'Trippin'' undoubtedly packs a punch. Blasting off with a dominant
kick and oscillating spring reverb that swipes through Amelie's wistful
vocals, the harder elements gradually succumb to the softness of her voice.
The listener's focus is momentarily shifted during an early breakdown before
the kick returns with more vigor accompanied by hurried hi-hats and
distortion that sends you into a frenzy |

APH-69 is a repress of Aladdin tracks by Aphrodite Recording's,
classic jungle from 1994 and 1995. Aladdin was a sub-label of Aphrodite
Recordings for releases co produced by Aphrodite with QED. We Enter, Mash Up
Yer Know, So Good and Geni have become underground junge classics from the
first three Aladdin releases ADN-001 to ADN-003, released in 1994 and 1995.
The sounds innovated by these releases are still highly influential and loved
in today's Jungle and Drum&Bass scene |

2022 repress - Oblique Music is proud to present Polish
wonder-duo Private Press. Through their debut EP on Technosoul, they made an
immediate impression with their matured taste and signature sound design,
subsequently followed by releases on Indigo Aera proving that it wasn't a
fluke. Here we have a diverse, yet coherent four-tracker. Blending
inspirations from early 90's Detroit- and dub techno to early 00's UK tech
house, the duo manages to offer an EP that respectfully winks at the past,
while keeping an eye out to the future |

THREADS is back with another powerful VA. Label co-owner A Virgo
On The Moon joins forces again, after their Y7 with Paolo Mosca for the
opening track which is a dreamy but powerful club cut. The second track marks
the debut of the Ukrainian artist Kebab Traume and it is a fast tech house
tool with clear Akufen - ish sounds. The B-side opener is another strong club
tool, this time more with that South American vibe provided by Peruvian Mario
Liberti. The closing track is from matteo. who's back on THREADS after his
solo EP, this time with Brazilian artist Lourene, and shows his dance floor
side which we definitely like! The release is dedicated to the loving memory
of Andrea |

repress - It was surely a matter of time before Leicester natives, darlings
of the UKG revival Y U QT graced Time Is Now with a release. Cooper and
Darryl Reid have been repping the Midlands' oft-forgotten 2-step and bassline
scene since being picked up by Riz La Teef's South London Press in 2019;
since dropping two EPs on Warehouse Rave and getting picked up for a remix by
Conducta's award-winning Kiwi Rekords. For Time Is Now, the duo have put
together five tracks of dynamic, cheeky garage that takes influence from the
full breadth of the genre. Studded with bangers, the EP kicks off
surprisingly gently with "Be Real". Some spaced out keys float over
the 2-step rhythm before hitting a sidewinding bassline and the pace picks up
in "Keep On Lovin' Me" - a classic speed garage sound you can't
help but move to. Cooper and Reed show their ruder side on the frenetic,
brass infused "Look Good" and the deeper, Niche-style wobbling
bassline on "Chopper". The record closes with "Hardly Keep it
Inside"; icy synth and contorted trancey diva vocals make this track
feel somehow larger than the others - you could imagine it going off in a
cavernous club on a mountainous soundsystem, a swirling bassy number that
sucks you in. This headsy release makes your feet want to move in the way
only garage can, bringing out some of the best that the UK sound has to offer |

Rove
Ranger delivers the second release on the new Vision Ekstase label featuring
four fast-paced techno cuts entitled 'VISION II - CONVOLUTION'. A regular at
the Vision Ekstase parties at Stuttgart's Lehmann Club, Rove Ranger now joins
the imprint following his debut on Android Muziq released earlier this year.
'VISION II - CONVOLUTION' succeeds David Lohlein's enthralling opener on the
imprint that continues to pick up traction amongst some of techno's most
revered names including the likes of Ben Sims, Efdemin, Randomer, Luke
Slater, Amelie Lens and many more. The simple yet effective opener, 'Secrets
We Kept' features a catchy melody combined with a heavy kick drum and
scattered Hi-hats before 'Dish You' turns tables with heavy percussions and
ghetto vocals, perfectly suited for peak-time purposes. While the A-Side is
influenced by present techno styles, the B-Side taps into the nostalgic
realms of the genre. The highly energetic 'Endless' introduces relentless
highs, driving oscillations and catchy yet groovy rave synths until 'Unstable
Current' closes the EP with catchy string pads in combination with a
sparkling acid line and revolving modulations. DL code gives access to EP and
a new track |

The Exaltics need no further
introduction.. operating since 15 years now and become one of the stalwarts
of the international underground electro scene. Robert Witschakowski-Jockel
founded the project The Exaltics in 2006 as well as the electro/ techno label
SolarOneMusic with his long term friend Nico Jagiella. Since then he
published countless 12"s and several LP's with labels like Clone, Creme
Organization, Bunker or his own label SolarOneMusic and worked during that
time with outstanding artists like Drexciya's Gerald Donald, Helena Hauff or
the legendary Martin Gore from Depeche Mode. He turned his deep cinematic and
most of all charismatic electro into his own trademark. The collection
contains 13 Tracks recorded between 2009-2019 including tracks from long out
stock titles first time on vinyl. Probably the best overview over the world
of The Exaltics |

It's
always good to have Norbak onboard again with this brand new slice of
plastic. Four cuts of precise and gymnastic techno aimed for the most
advanced dancefloors energetic and intelligent at the same time, as we like.
A side starts with "Tell me I'm wrong" a fast paced hypnotic
exercise with adrenalinic synth lines running over complex rhythms, properly
arranged in a constantly changing structure. "Amongst Them" follow,
textured flanged sounds running across the stereo field, shuffled beats and
lots of space, the definition of how profound techno should be. Flipping the
vinyl, B1 is "Pure and Faithful", funk infused sequences constantly
altered in shape, complex grooves and as always a profound structure full of
twists. Last cut in this exercise is "Unbearable Lightness",
continuous and repetitive randomized synth lines spiced with lots of reverb
over a well crafted drum workout, intense and spacious at the same time.
Another demonstration of studio skills and sound design from this young
Portuguese producer |

Raised down under and now based between London and LA, AK
Sports' productions, DJ sets and Balamii shows are a melting pot of rave
flavours, equally inspired by the old school as the new. This makes for a
truly unique, easily identifiable sound that combines computer-love, retro
acid synths ("Robots Are Forever") and anthemic piano stabs
("Sayulita") with futuristic, cosmic soundscapes; and industrial
techno, with MPC claps and reverberating breaks ("Kurrupt",
"Xoxo"). On Lost In The Sauce EP, unorthodoxy and irreverence are
at the core with AK Sports refusing to follow the rules laid out by genre |

Party-starter Chrissy joins the Shall Not Fade family with a
4-track serotonin hit which draws on influences from his San Franciscan
heritage, as well as those closer to home in the UK. 'You Don't Have To
Worry' encompasses this fusion, with anthemic piano chords and uplifting
vocals that enliven a swung breaks instrumental. 'Assure Us There's A Heaven'
and 'If I Could' also come with plenty of swing, borrowing tropes from UK
Funky to show house at its most danceable, whilst 'All These Dreams' is a
modern take on old school vocal house |

Manchester duo Cortese return to
Time Is Now with their second release, a sonic rambling through UKG, 4x4
garage and breaks. Whilst the title track and 'SPU1' use flute melodies and
warped basslines to create immersive atmospheres, the aptly-named 'In Transit'
is all about movement. Finally 'Regulate' provides a blissed-out take on UKG
before '2 b wit u' brings things to a dramatic close with a full-bodied

/Second press of 200 copies all
on purple vinyl. This pressing is slightly darker than the first press. Prior
to the 2018 release of its debut full/length, "Inferno
Deathpassion," Siege Column sharpened the knives in its attack arsenal
with two demos, "Nocturnal Attack Formation" and "Secret
Forces of the Pentagram," which were first released by the band's own
label on limited cassette runs and then reissued by Nuclear War Now! on the
same format. These same two recordings are now rightfully presented as a
vinyl compilation edition under the title of the first demo |

Limited edition in milky clear colour. Rancid-s classic second
LP, originally released in 1994, is disarmingly good from start to finish.
With roots set firmly in their Berkeley punk rock origins, Rancid set out
with heart, soul and vehemence to reach new heights in their music. Some of
the highlights within are 'Salvation', 'Radio', and 'Nihilism', but all the
of the songs bristle with the unmatched signature of Tim Armstrong\s
intensely evocative writing style |

Formed in the town of Rosario,
northeast of Buenos Aires, in 1971, Argentinian group El Reloj are considered
South American pioneers of progressive rock and heavy metal, their
forward-thinking experimentalism scoring a contract with RCA Victor.
Following the massive success of singles 'Alguien en Quien Confiar' and
'Blues del Atardecer,' their legendary self titled LP found the group between
Deep Purple and Uriah Heep, with a harder edge than subsequent symphonic
releases. A must for all fans of early metal, South America rock and obscure
prog, El Reloj is an essential classic. Gatefold! |

Konduku returns to the Delsin
Mantis series with an exciting double pack (Mantis 09 + 10) which dives
deeper into his remarkable fractured rhythms and light-touch synthesis. Over
the course of nine tracks Ruben Uvez straddles the space between introspective
headphone trips and hypnotising dancefloor elegance, operating in a liminal
zone of fluid tempos, submerged atmospheres and pointillist beats. It's an
open-ended but clear-sighted approach that aligns perfectly with the
direction of the Mantis series. Mantis 10 opens up with the circular
electronica of 'Trail', masking the start and end points of the groove with
the kind of polymetric construction Uvez has made his name with. The pattern
continues through the displaced, dubby experimentation of 'Lust' before the
more sharply defined transcendental tone of 'Lavender' cuts through the fog.
'Dalgin' rides its pattering percussion on a minimalist D&B growl,
setting the scene for the dislocated, avant-darkside closer 'Helles' |

It is a tale of balance and power; one can hear the passion of the two
artists through their productions. Evod and Oisel participated in the 24/H challenge
composing music in one day. They were resident in the studio inside Tempio
del Futuro Perduto to compose this outstanding work. Inspired by Detroit
Techno their crafted their style as unique, with high researched sound
fields. 4 original tracks next to a collab rework of track A1 by 24H Records

fourth collection of cuts from Various Artists of The Black Lodge multiverse.
The first sound offering on side A comes The Poetic Painter M, an avatar of
Chicago pioneer and visionary Traxx, aka Melvin Oliphant III, head of Nation
Records and sub-labels Kode & Dirty Blends. A2 comes from Chilean born
sonic explorer Pablo R. Ruiz, who resides in the sacred lands of Detroit and
has a number of releases on Portage Garage Sounds. The flip side begins with
an acidic banger from Midwest producer/engineer Grey People who has numerous
releases on great labels such as Frigio Records, Valcond Video, Public System
Recordings, and others. B2 is an experimental mind-bender from Bay City,
Michigan artist Fashion Flesh aka John Talaga, a true gear head who makes his
own electronic equipment, oscillators, generators, sound toys, and modulators
and has released on cult labels such as Unknown Precept and Fit Sound (Est.
83'Records), among others. The EP ends with a beautiful piece defying genres
from Fauna53, a collective of electronic artists from Italy, headed by
Asymmetrical who runs Raw Culture Records) |

Argentinian darkwave act Euroshima?s Gala sees a vinyl reissue courtesy of
Dark Entries. Euroshima was formed in 1986 by Fabi?n Iribarne, Jos?
Wyszogrod, Ricardo Parrabere, and vocalist Wanda. Originally released in 1987
on Polygram, Gala was a success throughout South America. But to the band?s
dismay, they received minimal support from the record label, which meant the
album would linger in obscurity outside of the region. A CD issue via
Twilight Records surfaced in 2020, but this is the album?s first reissue on
vinyl. Gala?s legendary status among cognoscenti is warranted. The album?s
nine tracks display all the hallmarks of the best darkwave: spiky guitars,
analog synth basslines, and wailing vocals. But Euroshima make their mark on
the genre with impeccable songcraft and a honed sense of the uncanny. While
the band themselves rejected the label of ?gothic?, it?s hard to resist
busting out the black eyeliner when listening to gems like the uptempo ?Como
Los Otro? or the churning album-closer ?Mejor Callarlo?. Highly recommended
for fans of Xmal Deutschland, Lebanon Hanover, pummeling TR-707?s, and
doom-laden synths. This reissue is co-presented with Twilight Records,
responsible for the 2020 CD reissue of Gala. It has been remastered by George
Horn at Fantasy Studios. Also included is a double sided insert with lyrics
and photos, as well as a postcard featuring a photo of the band |

Deeptrax
go even deeper with 'Hi8tus' - the first album from Detroit pioneer and
forerunner Suburban Knight in over 12 years. One of the earliest protagonists
in the epoch-defining, landscape-changing Motor City cultural movement, and a
card-carrying Underground Resistance member, James Pennington's fingerprints
are all over Detroit's nascent phases as he mentored the likes of Mike Banks,
collaborated with Kevin Saunderson and appeared on formative Transmat
dispatches in the late 80s and early 90s. Preferring a behind the scenes role
for many years, Pennington has operated in the shadows, only ever releasing
music when he's had something to say. There have been long periods of silence
in his discography but in recent times he's returned with a series of singles
and outings on Mollison Folson & Derrick Lewis's Detroit Techno Records.
Now time to level up once again and remind us of his sonic skills and
stature, 'Hi8tus' thrives off its timeless futurist schematics, each one
instantly tapping into the deepest of Detroit sources, but doing so without
any repetition or covering old routes. Largely breakbeat-based, Pennington
pays homage to the electro foundations in a wide range of forward-facing
ways; the uncompromising icy opener 'Far Far Away', the hazy soul and dreamy
waves of 'Spiritual Ride' and the gnarled, brittle brutalism of 'Stalker
Turned Electro' (a nod to one of this most enduring bangers back in the day -
'The Art Of Stalking') map out the parameters of Knight's navigations. In
between we have brooding, pensive moments of tension. The four-to-the-floor
prowl of 'Thy Will Be Done', the b-boy swagger of 'Machete', the glacial dark
side voyage of '2 Different Worlds', the list of immersive explorations goes
on... Proof that when it's in your DNA it doesn't matter how long you pause
between releases; it's about what you say with your music. Suburban Knight's
hiatus is well and truly over |

Ecstatic Northern techno from Evigt Morker! Restless with giddy
excitement and fidgeting through candescent swells, Evigt Morker's latest EP
deploys a familiar, playful edge to degrees that were only hinted at in
previous excursions. Ecstatic polyrhythms compound the wealth of fizzy
details into prudent club missions with a bright yet rugged edge. Quality

Rod20
is a new project from ROD, the Rotterdam based artist mostly known for his
well received contributions to Ben Klock's Klockworks label. During the rise
of Covid19 ROD decided to ditch the computer and dust off his vintage
hardware collection, challenging himself to create strictly (analogue)
hardware jams using only 1 synthesizer + 1 drum machine per track, recorded
in a single take. Rod20 (as in 2020 as well as ROD 2.0) kicked off in style
with ROD2001 'In The Mix', a 13 track Mix CD (also pressed on 20 highly
limited 3x LP copies) sold personally at the height of the pandemic, followed
by 2 conceptual mini-albums 'The Hidden Notes Project (Part 1 & 2)'
released on Jeff Mills' Axis Records. Now with most 2022 dance floors in full
swing again, it's time to unleash the Rod20 project in full, starting with
ROD2002 'SteraStudent EP', a personal tribute to 1 of of ROD's biggest
inspirations and mentors in the world of techno; Sterac (aka Steve Rachmad).
No computer. No edits. No nonsense. Just pure & raw stripped down (90's)
basement techno cuts designed to make you sweat |

By
the late 1980's Ton Lebbink was a well respected figure in Amsterdam's
alternative scene: he was the drummer for the Amsterdam post punk group
Mecano, a true punk poet and worked as a bouncer at Amsterdam's main music
venue Paradiso. He released two solo albums, both in his unique narcotic
style: laying absurd Dutch wordplay over stripped down frigid
instrumentals. As the decade came to an end, Ton - already well in his forties
- moved away from the often destructive and dangerous nightlife. After a series
of odd jobs Ton started as a fitness instructor at an Amsterdam gym called
Splash. Meanwhile, the 90's brought the latest musical craze to Amsterdam:
House music began to flourish through clubs like RoXy, iT and Mazzo. With
House being the ideal score for his fitness classes, the once well known cult
figure faded into anonymity at a 120 beats per minute. His musical endeavours
were focusing more on finding the right beats for aerobics exercises with
self-devised exercise - eventually leading Ton to bootleg some of them on
cassette tapes himself. In parallel to this radical shift, Ton did not stop
making music. On the contrary, piles of demos showed high activity but in a
direction no one was looking. Inspired by music to move to, Ton recorded hours
of music that activated the body while staying true to his playful mindset.
Discarding his voice as an instrument, the Roland W-30 sampler became his
tool to communicate. Gathering vocal snippets from close friends, barflies
and pets, a repertoire developed where witty repetitiveness could exist.
Going through a vast collection of demos, pictures and many anecdotes, Rubber
has been able to create an EP that gives insight into Ton's overlooked 90's
era.Three playful dance tracks by Ton Lebbink taking his complete own take on
the Amsterdam House revolution of the 90's. Full of inventiveness:
hip-shaking grooves, hypnotic beats and rousing vocals. Tracks to move to and
tracks to groove to. Essential dancefloor workout tunes for you and me. Ah
yeah! |

Bristol beat physicist Second Storey joins the fold of electro
dystopians TRUST, and 'Telekinesis Via Fax' picks right up where recent
releases for Houndstooth and his R&S collaboration with Appleblim, ALSO,
left off. 'Attack Of The Modlings' has deceptively lush pads launch into an
industrial grime furor that relentlessly underscores Second Storey's ambition
to sonically innovate. Vienna's /DL/MS/, coming right off their recent TRUST
debut, reassemble the bits into a subtly layered electro funk banger, before
Second Storey steps back onto the plate with the eternally spiralling
"Quantock Point To Point" and "Telekinesis Via Fax", the
latter evoking memories of Robert Gordon's afro-futurist Black Knight project
with hyperkinetic snares and free-wheeling synth licks |

DJ Europarking lands on UFO Inc. with his debut EP.
Tongue-in-cheek and extremely danceable, this is an incendiary EP.
'Boompahpah' gets things rolling with dense beats, a high-octane tempo and a
choir-driven breakdown. '20inch Chrome' is a madcap cut that uses a variety
of hip hop-esque samples, sirens and a tribal chant. On the flip 'Bitte
Everyday' utilises breakbeats and a mixture of rapping, chanting, and zany
effects to enchant the listener. Finally 'Like Trampolines' features hefty
beats alongside an incendiary riff that is sure to cause havoc on the dance
floor |

Over
the past two decades, Dez Mona never ceased to surprise audiences. Less than
a year after Lucy, a 'worldly oratorio' in collaboration with the Antwerp
Baroque Orchestration X, singer Gregory Frateur and his companions now knock
on the door with the cosmopolitan Loose Ends. On the group's ninth studio
album, rugged funk often alternates with bouncing disco pop. 'After the dark
ballads from our previous projects, we consciously chose to make a cheerful,
straightforward record', says Frateur. 'This time I didn't want to exhaust
myself too much in metaphors: the lyrics had to be simple and 'in your face'.
On a compositional level, Gregory Frateur gave the steering wheel this time
to guitarist Sjoerd Bruil and accordionist Roel Van Camp. This contributed to
Dez Mona stepping out of their comfort zone on Loose Ends and experimenting
with a new sound. On the new album, for example, Van Camp plays the piano
more often than the accordion. Leaning towards a more electronic sound, some
songs gravitate and take you on a fantastical, abstract journey. ’Indeed,
sometimes Sjoerd adds strange angles in his compositions', the singer
concludes. 'During performances, they force me to put myself aside as a
singer and get completely absorbed in the instrumental trip'. The emphasis
lies more than ever on the rhythm and groove. Drummer Karel De Backer, the
newcomer in the band, gives the music extra punch, while the absence of a
bassist is ingeniously compensated by Bruil and Van Camp. 'On Loose Ends we
go 'back to basics', admits Gregory Frateur. “But without losing our
recognisability.” Multi-instrumentalist Tijs Delbeke, who was part of Dez
Mona for many years, but has moved to Balthazar, was responsible for the
production. Frateur prefers to surround himself with people with whom he
feels at ease and who carry the DNA of Dez Mona |

vinyl. ECHT! - an instrumental, futuristic four-piece inspired by the
concepts absorbed in electronic music and musical production. Taking
inspiration from artists including Jonwayne, DJ Rashad, Deantoni Parks, J
Dilla, Dorian Concept and Aphex Twin, ECHT! combine electro, hip-hop, trap,
funk and futuristic jazz, resulting in a distinct and unique sound. On the
24th September, ECHT! are set to release their highly anticipated debut album
'INWANE' via the groove-obsessed, Gent-based label Sdban Ultra. Releasing
their debut EP 'DOUF' in 2019, the Brussels quartet has not stopped working,
recently releasing three sublime live studio sessions titled the BREWmixes
which received support from tastemakers including LEFTO, Worldwide FM and
Belgian national radio station Studio Brussel (StuBru). Echt means 'vrai de
vrai' - 'true' or 'real' in brusseleir (Brabantian dialect of Brussels). The
name is a direct reference to the fact that their sound transmission is
'real', performed with conventional musical instruments as oppose to computer
music which the production might suggest. It also relates to the fact that
none of the members of the band are originally from Brussels - bassist
Federico Pecoraro is from Italy, keyboardist Dorian Dumont is from France and
drummer Martin Méreau and guitarist Florent Jeunieaux are both from the Mons
region on Belgium. "For our first album, we wanted to go into deeper
beats. We were listening a lot to trap, gritty hip-hop & bass music, and
we tried to emulate those kinds of beats on our instruments. The darkish mood
of those music genres was fitting for us with this strangest year of 2020.
But we also wanted to give a contrast with some brighter parts, where the
human feeling is more present. This duality continued in the mixing process
by pushing or destroying some sounds, adding electronic textures &
effects, but also keeping some sounds really acoustic & organic. The
result is for us a mature album: the feeling of electronic music emulated on
instruments is confirmed but the human vibe stays central." From the
abstract patterns of 'Permanent' and melodic atmospherics of 'Dunes' to the
futuristic funk of 'Charlier', ECHT! look to emulate the producer's
off-beats, the compressor's swell, the repeating samples or the DJ's
transitions. Elsewhere, the trap-heavy sounds of '500gr.' and subby bass
stylings of 'Champi' push things forward, before the scatter rhythms of
'Kiekebiche' and weighty rumblings of 'Drache' integrate the inhuman heritage
of electronic music and 're-humanise' it. Counting BBC Radio 6 Music's Gilles
Peterson as a fan, in 2020, ECHT! were voted the third best band at the
RedBull Elektropedia Awards under the 'Fresh On the Scene' catergory with
debut EP 'DOUF' also receiving a nomination for 'Best EP' |

With
a first appearance on Token through a remix for PTTRN's 'To Disapear
Completely', Mike Parker fully debuts on the imprint with 'The Burning Round
Table' for 4 corrosive tracks of unforgiving power. Highly skilled in
crafting cavernous ambiances and sharp tension, the American virtuoso offers
a record emphasizing just that: imposing cuts to be selected with intention.
Parker immediately introduces the EP with gravitas through boiling, acidic A1
'Tripartite'. This first track stomps its way through an aquatic ecosystem
with the occasional stab to reaffirm the vast dimension of the track. Parker
uses texturally abstract atmospheres that dive the alert listener into its
mysterious environment. The kick pummels onto Parker's next piece 'Ascension
Chain', which carries its name well. A heavy low-end clears space for a
mesmerizing stepped lead in this track that evokes a similar size as its
predecessor's. Quick hi hat sections hurry the track along into the other
side of the record that meets the listener with a clear transition. Part 2 of
the EP begins with 'Bass Model', where Parker flattens the dimension of his
project with a strong, operatic bassline and rhythmic syncopation. Movement
is now prioritized in a B side that sets a convincing balance between techno
and Detroit electro through a highly effective use of minimal elements.
Closed hi hats are uplifted through sections of rolling rides to keep the
pace persistent and the track tunneling. Parker then guides us to the final
pillar of 'The Burning Round Table' with his title track as B2, a logical
continuation to the song before. A sustained and highly saturated bassline
pushes through head bobbing percussion with a vintage sounding vocal sample
to wrap up the artist's sonic trip |

Maneuvers residents LMajor and Corporeal Face - who together make up Local
Group - follow up a sold out Laser Domes EP, a Secret Race 4 appearance and
an XL Recordings inspired release Fresh Rhythms EP with a rave and hardcore
inspired 4-tracker for mysterious imprint 1O PILLS MATE. Heavily inspired by
the UK sounds of garage, jungle and breakbeat, the duo's first outing on the
label encapsulates everything you might hear in a Local Group set. 'Rhythmic
Trip' is an emotional, breaksy number; meandering out of dark tones and
patterns and into large vocal samples and uplifting odes to classic hardcore.
Netil Radio resident Angel D'lites Dolphins Have Sex For Pleasure release on
Banoffee Pie Records last year has already gone down as something of a contemporary
classic, and here she continues in typically high velocity fashion with a
wicked 150bpm lovecore remix of the Local Group original. 'Watch This Beat'
nods to the right side of happy hardcore - its chipmunk vocals, ravey piano
stabs and snappy breakbeats providing plenty of gun-finger induced,
rush-in-the-rave moments - before 'Work That Thing' closes the door with a
scratch-sampled cut of electro that sounds like it was taken from the middle
of a Jerome Hill set |

Hot
on the heels of last year's Dear Diary EP on Lobster Theremin, explosive
performances on HOR and an intimate interview with celebrated German
publication Groove Magazine, frequent Berlin & Leipzig DJ Narciss comes
through with four deep and groovy cuts of bass-driven techno. 'Feather Boa
Constrictor' features one of Copenhagen's most exciting emerging producers in
recent years - Vixen - fresh off her own acclaimed release, Hard Magik For
Soft Souls, on Lobster Theremin in December. Now the pair link up on the DJ
Mag Breakthrough Label of the Year imprint that blends all the best elements
of the Berlin and Copenhagen scenes in a highspeed trip through psy-trance,
synth-wave and techno. Narciss is on his ones as we enter the A2; 'Lovechild'
(Outrun Mix) is aptly named with its reference to the 1986 arcade game
Outrun, which featured some of the best video-game music to ever be created.
Deep basslines, swirling synth-stabs and a soothing deepness and
contemplativeness that can only come with driving a virtual car down a
never-ending highway. 'Tokyo' makes use of polyrhythms and textures blended
with what sounds like an old Sampha record. It's a wonderful combination of
dark, deep and forward-thinking sound, before Copenhagen producer Repro comes
through with a typically EBM-focused remix combining elements of every track |

resident and Sticky Tapes-founder Theo Everyday arrives with a huge debut on
Cheeky Sneakers, seamlessly blending the worlds of jungle, electro and trance
with his signature sauce of nostalgic and futuristic hyper-funk. Having
curated the Sticky Tapes mix series and label - supporting music from artists
such as Stones Taro, Om Unit, Jossy Mitsu and Lobster Theremin label head
Asquith - the DJ and producer knows a thing or two about merging differing
styles and energies. The Holsten FM EP plays out like a three hour club set;
placing classic UK sounds at its foundation and throwing multi-coloured paint
all over them. 'The Way You Feel' makes use of the pitched-vocal, SoundCloud
hyper-pop aesthetic with hardcore-piano stabs and heartstring-tugging cheese
wrapped within a huge low-end swinging bassline. A great lights-up tool to
leave them with a smile on their face. The classic rave energy is maintained
on the EP title track - a stripped-back cut of ragga jungle-step that's as
meditative as it is devastating. From golden-era rave and jungle
future-mutations to heads-down club sounds, 'Every Body's Talking (Well Let's
Talk)' is a strobe-light power sequence for when things are in full swing,
before 90s breakbeat and trance join forces on a 'Six and Two Threes'
hands-in-the-air moments. Breaks-littered dream sequences that feel like a
warm hug follow on 'Summer Lie In' - its chopped melodies and stirring
atmospherics causing ripples within the pond of paradise - before 'Mod Cons'
closes with a squelching cut of acid-electro on a killer digi-only exclusive |

South
African born, London based producer Kai van Dongen follows up two killer
releases on 1O PILLS MATE and Ei8ht Records with a massive four tracker on
CYBERDOME spanning lo-fi electro, gabber-influenced techno and Detroit acid.
'Command' gets started with the typical Cyber-aesthetic; a bruising,
otherworldly electro cut that sounds like it was sampled from an
intergalactic star-ship battle on a galaxy not so distant. Spooky, raw and
uncompromising - classic horror synth lines creating a haunting atmosphere
before its pulsating rhythm brings the listener back down to earth. 'Losing
Power' again makes use of Kai's knack for crafting emotionally captivating
synth patterns, but this time under a lo-fi identity with hefty influence
from the synthwave golden era; neon shapes and patterns blooming in the night
as we continue our journey into darkness. What sounds like an angry swarm of
bees approaches on 'Body Moving' - a track title fit for purpose.
Face-melting, brain-spinning techno creates a dark, psychedelic environment
where sweat drips from the ceiling and faces react with a blend of euphoria
and disgust, before we head to the Motor City on 'Breathe' - a cut of acid
techno-electro that borrows from the icons of the past for a typically punchy
and raw experience |

Meg
Ward has spent years formulating a special relationship with underground
culture in the North of the UK and was appointed one of BBC Music's 'Tips For
21' in the North East. Ward has carved her own distinct path through
energetic sets tied beautifully together by love and passion; It's on the
dancefloor where her taste and musical schooling took place and that same
schooling has fed into her dynamic, rich and jubilant productions. Meg's
releases on labels NeedWant, Clipp.Art & a remix on Patrick Topping's
imprint Trick have been doing the business around the globe, and she now
brings her radiant 'Connections' EP to important UK imprint Distant Horizons.
The result is as a record which brings together the best elements of club and
house, evoking a sense of freedom and expression through uplifting synths and
body shaking bass lines. Opening track 'Have Your Love' makes full use of
Kariya's original vocal, a balanced mix of old and new culminating in a fresh
and inspired club ready cut. Meg then turns her head to laden kick-drums and
melancholy induced pads, their tension released by the introduction of
coiling arps. The A side comes to a close with 'Connections' a functional,
yet ethereal track that seems to be signaling to something more. The B side
opens with 'Rupture the Rhythm' starting with breaks and sirens, acting as a
signal calling all ravers to the dancefloor before the place erupts with the
help of a 4/4 kick-drum and an active bassline. 'TekHerGucci' keeps the floor
moving with laseresque synths and glossy vocals. 'Cosmic Heat' sees us out,
the perfect end to a thrilling journey through the eyes of one of electronic
music's most promising artists |

Frogs
11 A side 'Studios, Squats and Trucks' is an epic 'Frogs' classic. You can
only wiggle and smile once the fanfare driven groove starts. This tune will
take you from a cabaret gipsy step to a hektic jungle knees up banger and
finally wrap its cushty dub vibes around you. This progressive yet cohesive
anthem nails the definition of Clown-Step once and for all. This huge dance
floor killer is the result of the collaboration between Ed Cox
(Accordion/Prog), DJ Stivs (Drum Prog), Bang Crosby (Vox), Freddyfrogs
(Prog), Waynes Maslin (Trombonne), Carl Davies (Clarinette/Sax) Frogs 11 B
side 'Fucked up with you' will convince any raver to stand up and dance! This
hard techno banger rests on its bassline to deliver the mighty vocal 'Get Get
Get fucked up with you'. The huge drop transitions from the DnB beat tand
tips your rave into its darkest hours.... Frogs 11 B side 'The way to go'
offers a radically different atmosphere from the other tunes on this release.
Freddyfrogs explores here the tribal force of an emotional heart beat. The
nagging build up reaches it's climax to fall into death itself and rebirth
into the light. Let your mind wonder into its deepest corners... |

In
what's been a stand out year for the Berlin based, London born, DJ &
producer, Amy Dabbs has dropped releases on Lobster Theremin, launched her
own label 'Dabbs Traxx' and collaborated with junglist Coco Bryce on new
label project 'LT CODA'. With a distinguished sound and undeniable flair,
both behind the booth and in the studio, Amy's brand of classic house and
radiant jungle now comes to Low Battery with her 'Baddest Gal' EP. 'Don't Go'
opens the EP with shimmering synths and lighter than air percussion. The mood
is light and understated, conjuring warm and affectionate emotions without
the need for amplified design. 'No You' then welcomes us with mid-summer
melodies and sprawling pads; vocal loops adding to that feeling of fuzziness
and warmth. The B side opens with title track 'Baddest Gal' an emotional
percussive workout that combines thoughtful arrangement with euphoric and
dreamy notes. It's one of those tracks that could work just as well in a DJ
set or cloud watching as the world slowly drifts by. 'Your Move', The
record's finale shows a different side to Amy's dynamic productions; the
track ebbs and flows and could be likened to the mixed emotions of meeting an
old friend: Excited but nervous, happy but always with a heartheavy goodbye |

Copenhagen-via-Bulgaria
producer Vixen readies her Lobster Theremin debut. Influenced by the high
velocity techno sounds of the Danish capital, Vixen has been gathering
momentum within her local circuit in addition to being a member of the
renowned DIY collective Fast Forward, and here she delivers four cuts of
big-room trance-techno. 'Vibe Catcher' is as ghostly as it is alien; a sonic
trip through solar wastelands and otherworldly graveyards - unapologetic
warehouse techno for the misfits of the underworld. 'Maladaptive Daydreamer'
follows in a similar vein, the energy becoming a little more urgent as strobe
lights flash overhead. 'High Femme Fantasy' is a homage to the progressive
sound re-rise that has infiltrated so much of the contemporary dance music
soundscape; a pulsating cut of atmospheric techno. Fun taken seriously.
Finalising the release is a remix from Danish contemporary royalty - Schacke
burst onto the scene releasing on Courtesy's Kulor label - an imprint
dedicated to the sounds of the Danish underground - and an incredible release
on Russian label Kisloty, and the producers rendition of 'Maladaptive
Daydreamer' is sure to be a late contender for many people's track of the
year lists |

Hot
on the heels of previous releases on Derestricted, TITDM and their own label
Boudica, Samantha Togni makes her Lobster Theremin debut, reimaging
club-focused sounds and rallying techno through their own dark and industrial
lens. Opening track 'Gasoline' wastes no time, with pulsating bass notes and
sharp percussion carrying us along for the ride. As the first breakdown comes
to a head Togni takes it up a gear, introducing rave-induced stabs that dance
across the stereo spectrum. 'Moon Child' feels both raw and celestial,
starting with breakbeats and reflective synths as acidic drones bubble in the
background, before we're dosed with an onslaught of 4/4 kick drums and warped
snares on 'Dark Horse'. 'My Gaze Is To The Infinite' is vast and imposing - a
result of pent up energy and frustration channeled into a flurry of
intoxicating rhythms and futuristic melodies. 'Disobedience' follows suit,
ringing out like a protest amplified by marching kick drums and bodily
unrest; Samantha uses a strong vocal sample layered between coiling synths
and rolling percussion, giving off huge anti-authoritrian energy |

Chontane
delivers six dynamic techno cuts via his 'Sycamore' EP on Mutual Rytm. A firm
fixture of the VOLTAGE roster and a rising name originating from Ukraine
making an impact, Berlin-based DJ and producer Chontane is quickly finding
his feet following a string of EPs via ARTS, Lobster Theremin and Rekids
Special Projects. Already playing key clubs at the age of just 18, blurring
the lines between techno, breaks and electro with his growing trademark
sound, his performances across Berlin and beyond have captured the attention
of many as he showcases his up-front and powerful sound. Next, he heads to
SHDW & Obscure Shape's Mutual Rytm imprint for the first time as he
reveals his six-track 'Sycamore' EP. Lead cut 'Preserved' is a rugged yet
soulful opener, settling into a rolling groove guided by crisp hats and sharp
stabs, while 'Arakis' propels into more eerie and menacing spheres as waling
vocals emerge and disappear into the track's relentless dynamic. Opening the
B-side, 'Sitka' fuses jacking drums with playful flute interludes for a
production set to get dancefloors moving, while 'Laboe' keeps things fiery as
a peppy track which launches into fiesta mode. Closing the flip side, B3
'After Images' reveals the most emotive production on the package, balancing
the hard-hitting kicks with soulful vocals and hazy melodies for a classy
slice of techno. Once again, digital purchasers are treated to an exclusive
bonus with 'In Roots' raising the temperature and jumping right back into the
action to serve up another energising anthem from a label and artist on the
rise |

Running
Out of Steam return with their eight release this time from London born,
Berlin based DJ and producer Amy Dabbs. The daughter of an original Northern
Soul DJ, Amy started her musical journey through a vast collection of Motown
records - lending itself to further exploration and inspiring her unique take
on electronic music today. Since her widely acclaimed debut EP on Distant
Horizons, Amy has released music on Slothboogie and Lobster Theremin's White
label - infusing a classic style at various speeds; from house, jungle and
drum & bass. Now, across four tracks, walking basslines and warm
sound-design incite feelings of nostalgia, hope and good old-fashioned fun -
so let's dance. 'Places' starts things off with it's cascading hi-hats and footstomping
kick drums; collectively combining classic stabs with feel-good energy in the
form of steamy vocal snippets. 'Flexin' follows through with more hugs on the
dance-floor, a track that almost feels like a final ode to summer and
embraces you like the friends we waited so long to see. 'Be Yourself'
embodies the mantra of doing what you love, a view held deeply by Amy and can
be heard running through all of her productions. The melodic elements blossom
over beats in an equal exchange of energy, giving birth to a track that makes
you feel as if you're exactly where you need to be. 'Rise' then switches from
the 4/4 template in favour of slickly programmed breakbeats - while
maintaining the essence of classic house, with Amy's own and ever embracing

Blissful atmospherics wash behind heavy amens on Spacewalk,
tightly constructed old school style breaks thump along with subtle effects
create a vibe that will take you to a world beyond ours. A distinctive crisp
unorthodox beat pattern opens Oceans and sets the tone for this beautiful
composition of smooth pads and earthy bass-lines, a dreamy treat which builds
the vibe as the track progresses. Messages from Space opens with a mellow,
eerie intro that washes in before the Spectrum breaks - heavy on the ride
cymbals - take centre stage in this lunar-inspired composition. Energetic
rapid-fire break work punctuates Quiet Storm with drum funk vibes that sound
immense at this BPM - playfully filtered, surrounded by delicate atmospherics
and an understated vocal sample - a treat for the breaks fans. Words by Chris

Perc
returns to Perc Trax with 'Dirt', one of his most raw and uncompromising
works to date. Across three versions of the track, one remixed in
collaboration with rising US star EAS, Perc fuses together dry looped techno
with caustic industrial sounds and just a splash of rave euphoria. Opening up
the release is the original mix of 'Dirt' layering searing top end percussion
over cropped breakbeats before dropping unexpectedly to an unmistakable
classic piano riff. The riff has been completely replayed and reproduced
rather than sampled and provides the kind of sudden jolt that Perc's
productions are famous for. On the B-side Perc teams up with Los Angeles DJ
and producer EAS who returns to the label for the first time since his
devastating remix of Perc's own 'Dumpster' in early 2021. Perc provides the
beats and EAS serves up the 303 lines, as the hedonism of the original mix's
piano drop is swapped for a screw faced slice of warehouse acid. Rounding off
the release is Perc's own 'Crowd Mix' which focuses on the beats with
additional layers of percussion and atmospheric crowd samples filling the
space taken by the piano hook and acid lines of the first two mixes. 'Dirt'
will be released as a hand-stamped white label release in a stickered black
paper sleeve. The release was mastered by regular Perc Trax mastering
engineer Matt Colton at Metropolis studios with Adult Art Club handling
visual presentation and design |
