years after Cuthead's "Give'n'Take", it's Sneaker's turn to put
together four of his favorite tracks for Uncanny Valley's compilation series.
The artwork is once again by Planetluke.com aka Luca Lozano. "This

an exchange of genius, emotions, gestures - even conventions, rituals, and
love. Dedicated to L.B. BaD, whose music I inhaled and whose records inspired

BaD's wonderful "Late In The Evening (Music's Seeping Thru)" you'll
get three absolute bangers on top. The Optimistic Misanthropes are Mystic
Bill, VeXaTioN and Sneaker himself. One of the most influential Chicago House
DJs, true to the underground for over three decades now, and once part of the
Trax Records roster... Mystic Bill. VeXaTioN already got to know him back in
the days but is currently hailing from Mexico City. His track was born in Los
Angeles and remixed by Sneaker in Berlin. Also, Left Unknown's
"Maedchen" got the jacking Midas touch from Sneaker, a touch you've

Born
and raised in the heart of the French Alps, and now residing in Paris, DJ
Physical's sound is one of a harsh romance. Perhaps it was the beauty and
serenity of the snow-covered mountain tops and the ferocious nature of French
techno moulding together that spawned his 'Raw Poetry' aesthetic; an emotive
blend of dark and light that feels like it could belong in concert halls and
theatres as well as underground sex clubs. Following an outing on Lobster
Theremin's recent various artist fundraiser for Ukraine, and appearances on
Rinse France and Running Out Of Steam, the Parisian local serves up five
deadly cuts of brooding electro and techno. 'Not So Human' delivers the
influence of trance on the contemporary techno soundscape, but doesn't
over-do it. Trance-licked, not dominated, the uncompromising cut of
wave-driven techno is the perfect accompaniment for when you want to take
things up a notch. 'Sex Club' maintains DJ Physicals' fascination with 'Raw
Poetry' - brimming with breaks-driven breakdowns, spinetingling atmospherics
and low-pressure basslines that highlight the variety of influence the
emerging producer brings to the table. Acid synth-lines and lively
trance-inspo create an altogether lighter mood as we flip the record on
'Mortal Dance', before 'Easy Dancer' changes its tune altogether with a
pounding cut of progressive, freaky electronica. Closing the release is 'Go
Further' - misty electro, Southern-trap samples and those distinctive,
high-culture ambient interludes creating a sense of emotive mystery. A
well-rounded release with plenty of left-turns, this is DJ Physical's 'Raw

Adam
BFD first burst onto the scene with his colourful, emotive driven
productions; making a name for himself as an artist bridging the gap between
electro, breaks and house. Now based in Paris, his work continues to put a
nostalgic and animated spin on his far-reaching influences, from London to
Mexico City and beyond. In the time since Adam's introduction a series of
singles and a recent EP on Running Out of Steam has seen the musician further
refine and develop his sonic palette and Embrace coming by way of Distant
Horizons is no exception. The five track EP covers many life cycles and no
matter how mature, Adam's tracks never lose the ability to make people move.
Adam starts by embracing the unknown in Le Voyage with its frenetic breaks
and glistening melodies opening up a pathway to the stars, before space opens
and time resides in Flotus; a special heart-searching moment, balanced by
springly, danceable grooves. I Mean It gently unravels with tangible
percussion and daydreaming textures, vocal loops becoming increasingly
hypnotic as time stands still. It's not just Adams pacing that's impressive,
but his ability to turn real world sounds into fully functional elements
heard in title track Embrace. Water moves freely over tightly packed drums and
arpeggiated synths; a piece of tranquility ready when needed. Which Gate
follows with pensive field recordings and cloud-formations; jerking breaks
leaping back and forth in another special EP from a producer just getting

Growing
up in Berlin immersed within underground subculture, Chontane started playing
regularly at the early age of nineteen kicking things off with a residency at
the Krach nights in Humboldthain and then playing some of the cities most
revered clubs, including: Tresor, : //About Blank and OHM. With his first
record release in 2018 still receiving praise and support, Chontane has
wasted no time in reaffirming his capabilities. With another successful
collaborative release on Magic Power with WERK co-founder J.Manuel and a 4
track EP on the Special Projects sub-label of Radio Slave's Rekids imprint.
The young producer is constantly blurring the lines between techno, breaks
and electro in the capital; breaking down some of the perceived barriers that
were once there. Now Chontane brings his colourful and energetic brand of
blurred techno to Lobster Theremin's White series with four hedonistic and
mind-altering weapons. First up is 'Invisible Guest' where driving and primal
percussion meet a kaleidoscope of colour; a menacing track that's perfectly
balanced by soft edges and restoring pads. 'Tarpene' shows a different side
of Chontane's productions altogether, a UK inspired cut of techno-stamped
breaks that's both emotive and functional. Then comes 'Flux' a sweat-inducing
hypnotic roller that taps into our addictive qualities. Seductive chords mesh
with galloping percussion in a trippy peak-time ride through the club's dark
corridors. The record comes to a close with 'Art Of Survival', the Berlin
based producer embraces his techno roots, with an added sense of largeness
and fun |

his follow-up to ROOS10, French DJ and producer Adam BFD lets imagination

Edition Hawara’s third 7“ release
is a slow-moving synth gem from 1983. Its producer, Chris Duchatschek or just
"Chris," is hardly a household name in Austrian pop music. But
Duchatschek was not only an early member of Drahdiwaberl, the legendary
anarchist band that was headed by Falco before his global breakthrough. He
also produced a string of almost-forgotten hits, not least José Feliciano’s
"The Sound of Vienna". "San Francisco Night" is one of
Duchatschek’s few solo productions. It’s the soundtrack for a party in a
dark, smoke-filled basement in early 1980s Vienna, but it should work just
fine in today's smoke-free basements too. Or in your living room, as long as
you turn the lights off |

Duper,
the new release from Morgan Geist, is a not-so-subtle callback to his 2001
EP, Super. "I was working most days with Kelley Polar on our new vocal
project, Au Suisse, which isn't really dance music at all," he explains.
"I started fooling around with these instrumental tracks at night for
fun. Each track was in a different style, but they seemed to work nicely as a
group. By the time I asked Kelley to contribute strings to the A-side, the
record really started feeling like the sequel to Super." Super Duper -
get it? Indeed, the playful synth riffs and sweeping disco strings of
"Twilight Express" echo the palette of Geist's cult classic

Assault Systems revisits 'In From The Night' with edits and a remix from Adam
Beyer and Wehbba. Planetary Assault Systems is one of UK techno veteran Luke
Slater's most enduring aliases, a project focused on forward-thinking techno
with maximum cerebral impact. 'In From The Night' came out in 1993 as part of
the 'Planetary Funk Vol 1 EP' on Peacefrog and has remained an underground
favourite since. Here on his own Mote-Evolver label, Slater revisits the
track with a fresh perspective across two edits and an interpretation from
Drumcode's Adam Beyer and celebrated Brazilian DJ/producer Webbha. The techno
titans team up to deliver a remix with thunderous energy as tense synths
patterns loop, evolve, and grow ever more edgy as the track unfolds throughout.
On the flip, the first 'P.A.S. Edit' is a potent touch-up that finds pounding
drums overlaid with raw and textural synth patterns alongside occasional

The
Blackploid resurgence of recent years continues to gather steam. After laying
dormant for some time, Martin Matiske's project roared back into life in 2021
with a pair of EPs for Central Processing Unit. It doesn't look like he'll be
taking his foot off the gas any time soon - not only does the new Blackploid
collectionPlanetary Sciencecomplete Matiske's hat-trick for the Sheffield
label, but it also serves as a prelude to the full-length album which
Blackploid will deliver on CPU in 2023. If that LP is as good as the tracks
we get here, then it's safe to say that we're on to a winner. This EP
contains a quartet of top-tier machine-funk productions, the kind of crisp
post-Drexciya joints we've come to know and love Blackploid for. Each track
onPlanetary Sciencemakes good on the record's title by delivering club tackle
flecked with FX which sound distinctly like spaceships blasting off into the
cosmos. There is also progression acrossPlanetary Science. While it still
aims for the dancefloor,Planetary Scienceis a somewhat more textured listen
than eitherStrange StarsorCosmic Traveler, Blackploid's previous CPU drops.
Most notable is the increased use of synth pads, with Matiske draping chord
progressions over all of these tracks in order to give his music a newfound
depth. Blackploid's subtle evolution is clear from the opening track.
'Dimension Unknown' may begin with a precision-engineered groove reminiscent
of an early Legowelt joint, but things soon soften with the introduction of
some rich keyboard chords. A few well-chosen bleeps and bloops flit in and
out of the mix, but whereas some would use these to scuff up the track
further here they are warm and playful. The more confrontational stance of
following cut 'Magnetron' makes it a yin to 'Dimension Unknown's yang.
Blackploid works with similar tools here - machine-gun beat programming,
chords playing off boinging bass - but there is a tension and buzz to the
track which isn't apparent on its predecessor. The synths have a slight
Eighties deep space thriller vibe about them, and the FX cut through the mix
with more bite. 'Magnetron's energy carries through to 'Wire', the first
track on thePlanetary ScienceB-side. Here a big, brutish bassline takes
centre stage from the off, a chunk squarewave equal-parts Dopplereffekt and
early Eskibeat. Around this swirls a queasy brew of synthesised tones, with
the component parts all arranged in order to channel 'Magnetron's sense of
unease. Planetary Sciencecloses out with 'Neurotransmitter'. On this cut,
Blackploid returns somewhat to where we started off, finding a midpoint
between 'Dimension Unknown's more spacious feel and the livewire flavour of
'Magnetron' and 'Wire'. Tension remains, particularly when Matiske serves up
one of the EP's snakiest basslines, but there's also a deftness to the synth
pads here which makes 'Neurotransmitter' a little softer around the edges.

Wrapping
up our 20th year in fine style EPM are delighted to reveal the release of
'Beyond the Reach of Time', the surprise 4th instalment of our EPM20 vinyl
series from UK techno master, Regis. Karl O'Connor (aka Regis) has remained a
maverick and iconic figure on the global techno stage, ever since his
'Montreal' EP burned his name across the world's dancefloors some 25 years
ago. His unconventional and single-minded label, Downwards, often shrouded by
mythology, has also helped to launch fellow protagonist Surgeon as one of
techno's most revered DJ/producers. Never one to tread the easy path,
O'Connor alongside known projects such as British Murder Boys (with Surgeon),
O/V/R with James Ruskin and Sandwell District alongside Function and Silent
Servant has more recently collaborated with artists such as Ann Margaret
Hogan (piano) and Justin K. Broadrick on guitar (previously of Godflesh) for
a one-off concert performed live in the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus,
Argolis, Greece as well as releasing last year's stunning new album 'In This
Is The Light That You Miss' on Downwards. In his continuous search to
side-step convention, he remains one of the more highly regarded creative
forces within the British techno/electronic scene. The genesis of the tracks
on 'Beyond the Reach of Time' go way back to 1999 and thanks to various
internet leaks have, over the following years, added to the mystique that
surrounds them and the artist. Recorded in a period when O'Connor was putting
tracks together for both an album on Tresor and an anonymous shortly-lived
house label called Housework, these tracks seemed to fit neither the
hard-edged Regis sound of the time nor the Housework style and simply slipped
through the cracks. Now over 20 years after their creation we are proud to
give these long-lost Regis tracks the official release they deserve. The EP
opens with the thumping yet muted tribalism of 'No Love From Above' whereby
O'Connor approaches the dancefloor with malevolent restraint before 'At the
Side of Silence' fuses this approach with the chord motif that runs through
the beating heart of this release. Rolling in at just under 13 minutes the
closing 'Beyond the Reach of Time Pt.2' is epic in both scale and sound, its
synth drenched chords taking it closer to Motor City emotionalism than
anything O'Connor has committed to wax. Its sister piece 'Beyond the Reach of
Time Pt.1' can also be found on 'EPM20', the 21-track digital compilation

"Flat
Beat" is an instrumental by French musician Mr. Oizo. It was released on
22 March 1999 through F Communications and was included as a bonus track on
his debut studio album, Analog Worms Attack. An accompanying music video was
released on VHS. The music video features Flat Eric, a puppet, head banging
to the track. Widely publicized by Flat Eric's appearance in many commercials
for Levi's and the popularity of the music video, the track became a surprise
European hit. "Flat Beat" peaked at number five on the French
Singles Chart and reached number one in Austria, Finland, Flanders, Germany,
Italy, and the United Kingdom. In 2003, Q Magazine ranked "Flat
Beat" at number 175 in their list of the "1001 Best Songs
Ever" In an interview with XLR8R magazine, Quentin Dupieux stated that
it took him only two hours with a Korg MS-20 to produce. The instrumental is
mainly composed of a repeated bassline, and it samples "Put Your Love in
My Tender Care" by the Fatback Band. Stevie Chick from NME wrote,
"Leading sociologists are calling it the 'Flat Eric Phenomenon'. Red-top
tabloids print instructions for the Flat Eric window moves and White Van Man
is overjoyed. Yes, helped along by his friends at the Levi's company, Mr Oizo
could soon be celebrating the inevitable outcome of such a profitable
partnership, a Number One record. And that would be a fine thing, not least
because 'Flat Beat' is a sleek slice of supremely filtered, speaker-busting
electro that would undoubtedly be a minor specialist hit in its own right if
released without the might of this high-profile campaign, but also because
Flat Eric, the ice-cool yellow muppet, is one of the most fascinating
creatures to have entered the crazy world of rock'n'roll in recent

Akae
Beka's inimitable style of rich, deep, multi-layered songwriting,
uncompromising devotion to RasTafari and soulful healing melodies developed
over decades performing with St. Croix based band Midnite and countless
recordings. At the point of his untimely passing in 2019, he had released
over 70LP's. He is without a doubt one of the most prolific reggae artists

Turkey born DJ, sound artist and producer Banu uses music as a political
tool. For her, the strong message carried through sound is a vehicle to
express emotions as well as a means of fighting against oppression. Using
participation, social design, ecology, feminist and queer theory to create
multimedia installations with sound as a main element, Banu‘s practice is
closer to contemporary art and activist spaces than the club realm. Banu‘s
debut album TransSoundScapes is an exercise in female solidarity between her
as a migrant woman and her sisters from the trans community, where an artist
from one marginalised group is showing support towards her trans sisters,
using her platform to help them amplify their voices and building a bridge
towards a mutual understanding of femininity. Conceptually, TransSoundScapes
comes in continuation of Banu‘s previous research-based work, using music as
a positive tool for change while working with various marginalised
communities. The album originated from the very real experience of being
confronted with verbal harassment in Berlin on a daily basis, particularly
aimed at her transfeminine friends and companions. As a queer woman of
Turkish and Kurdish origin, Banu did not only observe the verbal aggression
directed at her friends, but also understood most of the insults shouted in
languages such as Arabic. Seeing how she got signifi cantly more verbal
violence directed at them when in company of trans people made a lasting
impression on her, so she wanted to try and use her relative privilege to
amplify transfeminine voices through her music. Coming from a very
conservative family, making music has been her lifelong dream. It was the
moment she had the opportunity to work with the iconic Arp 2600 synthesiser
(a younger sibling to Eliane Radigue‘s infamous 2500 machine) that all her
disparate interests came into place to create an empowering soundscape with
the aid of analogue drum machines. TransSoundScapes has a very full, porous
sound, where every element that comes into play sounds soft yet clear. Across
the 7 tracks, Banu conjures pounding subterraneous bassy techno („Surgery“),
slithering tentacular EBM („First Time“) and pulsating cavernous soundscapes
(„Harem“), where oversized dancefl oor elements are woven with poetic spoken
word passages, resulting in sensusous yet political anthems. Banu artfully
merges loosely related genres such as techno, electro, dub and sound poems
into a sound that is at once deeply personal and extremely compelling. All of
the tracks are collaborative efforts, Banu seeing the process as an exchange
of care and shared experiences, while integrating research into her writing
process. The lyrics in „Transition (part 1+2)‘‘ are an adaptation of Sara
Ahmed’s “Living a Feminist Life”, while „Surgery“ was born out of series of
interviews with trans people, channeling the metallic sounds of a surgery
room to refer to society‘s perception of transness as a medical condition.
Tracks like „First Time feat. Patricia“, „Harem feat. Prince Emrah“ or „We
feat. Aérea Negrot“ document her encounters with various trans women,
centering their life experiences while also developing a deep dialogue
through the process of making music together. The darkest and perhaps the
most emblematic track is ‚‘Bianka (In Memory Of)‘‘, dedicated to the late
Bianka Shigurova, a 22-year old Georgian actress found dead in her apartment.
It was her Tbilisi photographer friend George Nebriedze who told her Bianka‘s
tragic story, whose death is suspected to be an assasination due to

summer 2022. All tracks are written, recorded and mixed off the cuff,

The Walflower Complextion were
American teenagers, children of US Government staff, attending high school in
Bogotá, Colombia. They got a deal with local label Daro and released this
brilliant and sought-after debut album in 1966. The LP features several great
covers, including four Rolling Stones songs, but it's in their own original
compositions where the band really shines, possessing a raw sound that mixes
surf music, psych guitars, wild drums, tambourines and hazy garage rock.

Slave teams up with Nez for all-new versions of the club smash, ‘Wait a
Minute’. The first single from Radio Slave’s forthcoming 2023 LP, ‘Wait a
Minute’ sees the UK legend pair with grammy nominated multi-hyphenate Nez for
a hard-hitting, rap-infused house track that has become a staple of the
handful of DJs who had upfront versions this summer. Initially meeting via
Radio Slave’s incendiary remix of the FELIX DA HOUSECAT co-produced ‘Lift
Off’ released via Three Six Zero/Sony in 2021, LA’s Nez and Berlin-based
Radio Slave made plans to work together as soon as possible, and a new
version of 2020’s ‘Wait A Minute’ is the result. Featuring remixes from
Rekids’ own Mark Broom and coming complete with an instrumental version,
Radio Slave feat. Nez ‘Wait A Minute’ is released through Rekids on 26th
August 2022. Radio Slave, aka Matt Edwards, is responsible for some of the
most recognisable underground dance tracks of the past 20 years, including
‘Grindhouse’, ‘Don’t Stop No Sleep’, ‘Another Club’, and many other timeless
cuts. His collaboration work with Joel Martin as Quiet Village and solo work
as Rekid has received critical acclaim, and he remains one of the most
