introduction and neither do the 2 tracks featured on this Vinyl Classics
release. Their first 2 singles are brought together on black wax originally
dating from 2002 / 2003, so 20 years later they’re reunited on vinyl. The
A-side contains the Airwave Club Mix from Summer Calling while the B-side is
blessed with Josh Gabriel’s view on Summer Calling and the much-wanted
Beautiful Things. leave one feeling as if their world is collapsing around
them. Each image can be interpreted in 2 main ways: The cover represents our
generation’s young man, sitting lonely and confused, looking on helplessly as
his world crum- bles, with the reverse image portraying the absence of the
young man from this place, his escape through music allowing him the freedom
from his troubles. OR The cover is a young man sitting alone but content,
music this time allowing him to be among his problems, helping to find
solutions & conclusions. The reverse in this case represents the baron

When
two musicians intensively work together for a period of time, at some point
the whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts. If Paul Boex and Dave
Miller hadn't already reached that status under their Abstract Division
moniker, they certainly have now, with the release of Midnight Ensemble,
their first full length album. Those who have followed the duo since their
early days of playing dj-sets together, know that it's hard to define their
style anywhere beyond techno or even electronic music, as it is ever evolving
and always dependent on the time of the day or night. When listening to this
album, the resemblance between their unpredictable selection behind the decks
and the eclectic range of subgenres on this album is more obvious than ever before.
Midnight Ensemble could be interpreted as an ode to nightlife; a reminiscence
of all that happens between dusk and dawn, captured and compressed into about
one hour of music. An hour in which they so delicately time their changing of
styles and tempos, always reading the room and always being one step ahead of
the crowd. This album is a reflection of that skill, starting its journey
with soothing, moodsetting ambient, followed by timeless pieces of Detroit
and dubtechno. A daring electro cut providing a refreshing break from the
four to the floor tradition, only to be followed by the stripped down sound
the duo is so comfortable with. The final minutes consist of experimental
breaks, one last banger to pull out the last bits of energy that is left and
a beautiful outro, which concludes the allnighter vibe. There are no open
endings, it doesn't make you want to stay in the dark forever. Rather it
makes you want to close your eyes one last time before walking outside to see
the sun come up again before going home, overwhelmed and satisfied |

limited edition vinyl LP of the unpublished Nenad Vilovic lost
synth-masterpiece Prizma. The Yugoslavian and Croatian disco and pop
chart-maker and once a Split International Music Festival headman (also in
groups Grupa ST, Mladi Batali, etc.), producer of Dino Dvornik, Ambasadori,
Oliver Dragojevic, Meri Cetinic, Leo Martin and many more, recorded this
space-prog-electronica album in complete secrecy. It was refused in the 1980s
by major Yugoslavian record labels for being too experimental, but it is
actually a game changer in the field of socialist YU electronica. Miha Kralj,
Laza Ristovski, Igor Savin and Kornelije Kovac now have company in the field
of complex analog synthesizer concept albums, with this one being finally
released by Fox & His Friends Records after 37 years of being shelved.
Every instrument on this album has been played by Vilovic himself. This rare
piece of vinyl is cut by Pauler Acoustics, mastered by Antony Ryan and
features exclusive cover design by Eric Adrian Lee. The studio master is here
presented in its entirety; no track was replaced or changed its order. This
is how it was imagined to be released in 1985, when Nenad Vilovic played all
instruments, produced, composed, arranged, recorded and even sang on the
whole thing. However the title "Prizma" may suggest, this is not a
structuralist concept album, but a conceptual use of his studio, instruments
and musical knowledge. It mixes the ethnic, electronic, geographical and
ambient roots of the crowned festival producer, hit-maker and fast-skilled
studio musician who spent all of his money on new machines and his musical
progress |

Beautiful
cinematic electronix on this full length album by Lord Of The Isles inspired
by the beauty of the islands of Scotland. Neil McDonald's love of the
outdoors is a constant feature in his music, hence his Lord Of The Isles
moniker, a direct reference to the Highlands and islands of his native
Scotland. His vivid, effervescent and blissfully cinematic sound paints a
soundtrack to unmade films, building imaginary worlds inspired by his
childhood passion for science fiction. It is therefore no coincidence that
the closing track 'Subtle Thoughts' samples the inimitable voice of Carl
Sagan and is also the name of his forthcoming album on Lapsus Records. Subtle
Thoughts' is an album of sumptuous melancholic electronica that, like all his
previous works, avoids being pigeonholed. In it we find ambient and IDM, but
also breaks and down-tempo 4x4 beats with deep ruminations, and even passages
akin to new age and Balearic. In Neil's own words, the real concept behind
'Subtle Thoughts' is "The spaces in between. Listening to the quiet
voices. Freedom of expression and being open. It also contains my hopes and
fears for the future of our world, but mainly hope and love". Subtle
Thoughts' will be released on 8 December with two advance singles: 'Open
Mode' accompanying the album launch on 7 October; followed by 'Return to
Yourself' on 4 November |

deep groove as we're used to, the drive in this one is really massive. Lovely
mysterious female vocals and a great solid melodic lead, all this in a
wonderfull stunning atmosphere. This track has got it all, great vibe, lush
sound, a strong production. Pollux & Faber - Pulse: With Pulse, the guys
continue on the elan of predecessor Tam Unanimem, a "dark" deep
bassline which reminds a bit to the classic "Barbarella" although
it's different, but it's nice to have :) An additional strong deep
bass-melody and catchy lead are keeping "this whopper" going !
Leach - Cernunnos: No interduction needed for this guy who already earned his
stripes with several releases. We go way back so we're very proud to have him
and his newest track "Cernunnos" on Castor, a MASSIVE groove, nice
build up & break with a great vocal. "Cernunnos" grabs hold of
your attention and doesn’t let go ! Guaranteed Floorfiller !!! Pollux -

X-Coast has released on Steel City Dance Discs, Unknown To The Unknown and
his own Riviera Records following his smash debut with the 90s-tinged ‘Mango
Bay’ in 2016. Teaming up for the ?rst time, the Serbian duo unleash their new
project XL Traxx with a ?erce three-track EP on Radio Slave’s Rekids. Leading
the release is the energetic ‘M-Bomb’, bringing heaving kicks, rave stabs,

Berlin’s
Michael Klein drops heavy duty 5 tracker EP on Second State. A mainstay of
the Second State label, Michael Klein’s back catalog has now expanded to
include 11 releases with the Berlin imprint. ‘Golden Hour’ is a classic
high-energy and versatile contribution from Klein, with 5 mesmerizing techno
tracks. Opener and title track ‘Golden Hour’ kicks off with strong synergy
between the kick, bass and percussion. Moving & rising at controlled
pace, Klein brings in off kilter keys and a smooth arpeggio. Next up is
‘Voice Interrupt’ which uses twisted melodies and pitch distortions to create
a tense but energetic energy. Minimal shakers and a solitary hi-hat add
texture to the track, whilst keeping the arrangements tight and bouncy. ‘In
My Own Eyes’ starts off minimal and subdued, with a rotary synth that
eventually breaks through and takes command. Subtle industrial elements are
used but hidden under shakers, coming to the forefront during a brief
interlude of the main synth-line. Following is ‘Howlip’ with a uniform kick,
hi-hat and a jagged synth combo that dance menacingly throughout. A sample of
the cut’s name chimes in at varied volumes, at times battling against the
main groove and recurring electro twinged synth. A driving and peak-time dance-floor
weapon. The finale of the EP ‘One Eyed Master’ is dominated by piping,
high-frequency keys that bubble under the main kick and sharp single hi-hat.
Varying in intensity as the track drives on, the keys create a dystopian yet
uneasy atmosphere. Klein again plays with the balance of percussion and pitch
to manipulate the mood created in the track, an obvious theme and technique
applied throughout the EP |

Beautiful
seductive modern electronix alert!!! Vector Lovers has remained a firm
favourite of the underground electronic music scene and holds a coveted place
among the most hallowed of record shelves, and with good reason. Since the
early 2000s Martin Wheeler has explored a sparse audio wasteland in order to
develop a new sonic palette that looks outward to electro, IDM and ambient.
After self-releasing a handful of his own productions on the Iwari label,
Wheeler's career defining album was signed by British label Soma in 2005,
leading to the first great revival of 90s IDM. Capsule for One' was an
unrivalled masterpiece that perfectly synthesised the heritage of the
Hardcore Continuum with renewed airs and degree of clarity that ushered in a
new millennia and sound. It arrived as a worthy successor to the venerated
Warp artists of the time, while embracing new panoramas and technologies.
Capsule for One' is a melancholic album, with an almost cosmic spirituality
that provokes daydreaming. From its opening track 'City Lights From a Train'
it welcomes the listener onto an infinite journey at the speed of light,
connecting the past, present and future, folding time and space and painting
neon cities populated by cyborgs. The album reaches its zenith with 'Melodies
and Memory', featuring Wheeler's very own voice, which has arguably become
one of this century's greatest electronic ballads to date. In fact, the
impact of 'Capsule for One' was such that Tracey Thorn commissioned him to
produce her song 'Easy', from the album 'Out of the Woods' [Virgin, 2007].
For its forthcoming release on Lapsus Records, Martin Wheeler has remixed
each and every song on 'Capsule for One', as well as adding two previously
unreleased tracks 'A Simulation' and 'Perfect Score', both produced around
the same epoch. This extra special release, with artwork redesigned by Josep
Basora, features a double marbled vinyl and a limited edition insert print |

solo LP, Berlin techno icon Marcel Dettmann arrives on Dekmantel with an
expansive album captured in a flash of inspiration. In many ways Fear Of
Programming is a reflection on the artistic process ? the critical hurdles

album by Montreal based artist Phoeb? Guillemot aka RAMZi. Featuring ten
mind-melting tracks 'hyphae' is RAMZi's latest sonic quest and is based
around sketches she originally made as a score for a documentary about
mushrooms called 'Fun Fungi' (directed by Frederic Lavoie). Recorded between
November 2021 and May 2022, writing 'hyphea' began as an attempt to transcend
boredom and frustrations imposed by severe restrictions during the pandemic.
For Phoeb? the album was a way to reconnect with her alter ego RAMZi; who's
energy brought her back to uniquely mystical feelings and hope for future
magical adventures. RAMZi is a uniquely wild spirit from the forest and
refers to a parallel autonomous world that keeps evolving. In Phoeb?'s own
words: ''The music remains as a doorway to that world. It has never been
about me, I always see that entity bigger than myself. The process of writing
'hyphea' was rather intuitive. I don't think about styles of music before
producing tracks. Those are more like an adventure in itself, each one set in

Heralding
the release of Memoirs of Hi-Tech Jazz, the forthcoming album by
Detroit-born-and-based artist, Waajeed, the 12” features further examinations
of the track’s motifs by the vaunted Detroit collective, Underground
Resistance, Zambian producer SHE Spells Doom, and a special reimagining by
Waajeed himself featuring live drums. Alongside the LP version the three
remixes further explore the links between Techno and Jazz, styles both
founded on African traditions that make commentary on the present but are
always oriented to potential hereafter. On the People Mover Remix, Waajeed
enlists the talents of Zo!, Tall Black Guy, Michele Manzo, and more to
explore one extreme of the track’s musical heritage. Syncopated drums, driven
by a full and bright snare drum, firmly place this version in the sphere of
contemporary Jazz emanating from Detroit and cities across the US. Coming
from an album inspired by revolutionary efforts against oppression in Detroit
and in Black locales around the world it is entirely fitting that Underground
Resistance should provide their take on Motor City Madness. UR’s Mike Banks
follows the lead of the original’s melange of genres. By thickening the
bassline, peppering the mix with extra brass from the Mad Brass Horn Section,
and adding strings courtesy of Six Mile Strings, UR further explore the
dynamic intersection of music, history, and geography. SHE Spells Doom closes
the remix package with his second release on Tresor after his contribution to
2021’s Tresor30 compilation. The Zambian artist trims Motor City Madness down
to the bones of the brass section and infuses them with a gqom beat,
simultaneously referring to Jazz and Techno’s deepest roots in Africa, as
well as suggesting where they might be headed in the future |

Devin
Brahja Waldman is a New York saxophonist, drummer, synthesizer player and
composer who leads the group BRAHJA. Waldman has accompanied his aunt, poet
Anne Waldman, since the age of ten. Waldman is a co-founding member of
Radical Reversal, Diva of Deva Loka, and Notable Deaths. He has performed
with Patti Smith, William Parker, Nadah El Shazly, Malcolm Mooney, Thurston
Moore, Godspeed! You Black Emperor, Charles Hayward, Luke Stewart and Yoshiko
Chuma. Waldman is also a member of NYC's Heroes Are Gang Leaders (led by poet
Thomas Sayers Ellis and saxophonist James Brandon Lewis), of Sam Shalabi's
Land of Kush, and of the Norwegian hardcore group MoE. As a youngster,
Waldman was taken under the wing of avant-garde giant Paul Bley. Along with
Anne Waldman and cousin Ambrose Bye, Waldman is a co-producer for Fast
Speaking Music -a NYC poetry and music label which has released recordings
with Amiri Baraka, Meredith Monk, William Parker, Laurie Anderson, Eileen

Somewhere
between electronic music, jazz and post-rock, TUKAN unveils a percussive
sound with a heady groove, taking you on a computerless electronic journey.
With an analogical approach, TUKAN takes up the codes of electronic music and
delivers an exhilarating sound, taking Tortoise, Badbadnotgood, Floating
Points, Squarepusher and Lone as reference points. On the 18th November, they
are set to release their debut album 'Atoll'. From the slow burning 'Scuba',
the galloping '206', the ecstatic trance of 'Raymond' to the coldness of
'Opal' and obscure rhymes of rapper SVDU on 'Black Pearl', everything here is
precision and power. Seven tracks of sonic fusion recorded at La Datcha, the
band's home studio and a record that showcases the band's singular synergy;
dance floor oriented rhythms and grooves with a live, cerebral influence.
TUKAN brings the instruments back to the middle of the dance floor. Led by
Nathan Van Brande and Andrea Pesare, their friendship began at the Jazz
Studio in Antwerp where they started composing tracks for a rapper named SH.
With ideas flowing they formed Boucan and Boukan 2.0 with Samuel Marie on
keyboard, resulting in a highly memorable performance at Brussels Jazz
Weekend but an unsuccessful period in the studio resulted in the early demise
of the band. However, refreshed and rejuvenated, in 2019, the trio formed
TUKAN with Tommaso Patrix on drums, with the new music based on improvisation
and it ignited the beginning of a new era for the four musicians. In 2021,
they won the prestigious Concours Circuit in Belgium and recorded their
self-titled debut EP to critical acclaim in Belgium. Numerous shows and
festival appearances followed including Fifty Lab, Dour and Nuits Bota and
additional shows in Germany, Luxembourg, France and recently, Ment Festival
in Ljubljana, MIL in Lisbonne and Mama in Paris. Although TUKAN's studio
know-how might still be in its infancy, it's the live experience that makes
the heart of the project beat. Not too much technology here. The heat is
organic, the tracks evolve and the score lives. Performances that invite

After a few good years of
releases on labels such as the Catz 'n Dogz founded PETS or unforgettable hit
'Turnaround' made it together with SLG for Play It Down, Smolny has started
his own imprint called Bourassa Records. 'Explain EP' is the first release on
the label and you can definitely call it bangin' stuff. All the tracks are
inspired by UK dub and techno sounds. Smolny concentrated on the strong and
soft bassline in the same time which literally vibrates and floats on the
filter. In a balanced way, it gives tension in the tracks of well-arranged

a maelstrom of hypnotic feedback. Era Electrónica Catalan and Spanish
anarchist lyrics bind the bands primitive sonic assault, delivering a modern
hardcore punk record without an ounce of modern attitude. Punk as it is meant
