With
this release the label celebrates the return to the ranks of the founder
Worg. A triumphant homecoming comparable to that of Jason, the main character
of the Argonautica, who travelled in search of the Golden Fleece (Il Vello
d'Oro) aboard the ship Argo. After many vicissitudes, the hero returned to
Iolco, his homeland, to reclaim the throne usurped by his half-brother
Pelias. This new chapter in the Lykos saga focuses on the deeds of Jason and
the Argonauts, but also on a key figure who was indispensable to the success
of this quest, Medea. Thanks to her and her magical skills, the fellowship of
heroes succeeded in grabbing the Golden Fleece. Through careful sound design,
hinted melodic cells and complex rhythms, Il Piano di Medea by Worg, sums up
details and facts related to this extraordinary legend. Starting from the
prophecies of the Oracles, to the tragic and bloody ending of the epic poem,
which took place with the death of King Pelias by his own daughters,
hypnotized and manipulated by Medea's magic. The narrative begins with the
track Oracolo, characterized by a syncopated groove, nebulous atmospheres and
the presence of a dark anthropomorphic synth, which alludes to the solemn,
grave and authoritative voice of an entity. A prophetic spirit that warns the
listener of the dangers that lurk for those who dare to enter this new sonic
adventure. In order to foretell the future and to spread their word, the gods
took possession of the bodies of priests who had fallen into ecstasy, using
them as intermediaries. In his reinterpretation of Oracolo Neel, the grand
Maestro of techno, in a similar way uses musical elements such as a harsh and
acid bass line or a tight rhythm to lead the listener into a psychic state of
suspension and mystical elevation. In the music piece Il Vello d'Oro, Worg
draws attention to the rare preciousness of this magical relic, rumored to
have the power to heal all wounds and for this reason longed by Jason. To
evoke the purity of the golden mantle, the artist uses shimmering percussion,
radiant textures and the omnipresence of an FM synth bass, full of brilliant
harmonics. All enhanced by sound details scattered throughout the
arrangement. Eryx, the record's final track, has a fluid and sinuous flow,
with sound elements that recall water, a natural element, protagonist of the
Argonauts' journey to the remote Colchis. A melody echoes in the distance,
disappears and resurfaces to then collide, like waves on the rocks, with the
complex and jagged rhythms that mark the gradual evolution of the track |

forces with rising producer Luca Eck to rework KUMMER's pop sensation

With
'The Sentimental Swordsman' Farron slips into the role of his ambient moniker
Quiem, telling the emotive story of a man who has lost everyone dear to him
and seeking to find inward peace, appreciation, a feeling of security, and
his capacity for love. At the beginning of this narration, The Sentimental
Swordsman wanders around with no orientation, feels empty and shows his
vulnerable side in 'Strayed And Aimless'. A solitary life with a focus on
himself and his modest requirements. But just one mysterious encounter can
change it all. 'You Looked So Pretty On My Balcony' describes the
presentiment of lightness and a gentle breeze received through the presence
of the new acquaintance. The Sentimental Swordsman still feels insecure on
his journey, but he is not alone anymore and he can somehow feel a warm and
buoyant glow in his breast. 'Your Singular Courage' underlines the good
intentions, harmony and trust slowly building up between them. From now on,
fights are taken side by side, individual crises are resolved with the mutual
support of each other and risks are taken together. A new team has been
formed that seems to be unbeatable. This intimate relationship is presented
by the vibe of 'My Tiny Engine'. They are lightheartedly taking steps into an
auspicious future together and enjoying each others company. But the enemy
doesn't sleep. It slowly grows. Evil bubbles up, it comes silently and
attacks sneakily. 'On My Mother's Birthday' describes the wounds resulting

most influential electronic music producers with sold-out shows, number one
singles, and the respect of his peers. However, the fame doesn't stop the
chart-topping musician from pushing the boundaries even further. Léger returns
with his new release on Guy J's Malta-based label Lost & Found and once
again proves the hype about his artistry is real. The two-track material
delivers almost eighteen minutes of pure brilliance. The conceptually
consistent sound makes the opening and the closing work a piece of the
seamless universe. Nevertheless, Sébastien's double feature explores the
hitherto unheard of vocal sample experimentations at the beginning of the

is called "Ritornels Of Decay" and presents the Urstadt duo's view
on the state of the electronic music scene during the post-Covid times,

rEAGENZ remains a crucial milestone of electronic music. The duo famously met

indeed a beautiful hybrid that explores the relationship between lush ambient
textures and intricate IDM/techno rhythms, with striking and memorable

twee jaar geleden legden Wannes Cappelle, frontman van Het Zesde Metaal, en
de Belgische pianist Nicolas Callot de plaat 'Kom, benevelt mie!' in de
winkel - een verzameling liederen van Franz Schubert, maar dan in het
West-Vlaams. Het album schoot door de verkoop van zeventien exemplaren in de
eerste week meteen naar de top van de klassieke Ultratop en bleef daarin
nadien ook een aanzienlijk aantal weken staan. "Onze grootste vrees was
dat de plaat tussen twee stoelen zou vallen en dat we er niemand mee zouden
kunnen overtuigen", herinnert Wannes Cappelle zich. "Maar Kom,
benevelt mie! heeft echt wel zijn publiek gevonden." Wat niet wil zeggen
dat er geen fans van Het Zesde Metaal waren die zeiden dat het niets voor hen
was. Wannes Cappelle die tweehonderd jaar oude liedjes van Franz Schubert
vertaalt?! Euh, nee. "En er waren zeker ook liefhebbers van klassieke
muziek die het raar of zelfs ongepast vonden", aldus Nicolas Callot.
"Maar de meesten vonden het vernieuwend en werden er oprecht door
geraakt. De teksten van Wannes kwamen vaak meer binnen dan de originelen
omdat ze directer en vertrouwelijker klonken." En dus repten Cappelle en
Callot zich om een vervolg te breien aan Kom, benevelt mie! "We konden
nog wel even met Schubert verdergaan," zegt Cappelle daarover, "en
het blijft een stiekeme ambitie om zijn Winterreise ooit volledig te
vertalen. Maar Nicolas kwam plots met Mozart aanzetten, van wie net iets
minder bekend is dat hij ook een dertigtal liederen heeft geschreven. Zijn
stijl is bovendien heel anders dan die van Schubert, die toch wel merkelijk
donkerdere dingen heeft gemaakt en daarmee ook dichter bij mijn eigen werk
aanleunt. Schubert lag bovendien meer binnen mijn stembereik, want een pak
minder frivool dan Mozart. Maar al die dingen maakten 'Verslegen nevest gie'
in feite alleen maar leuker om te doen. Ik heb mezelf nog meer moeten
uitdagen - zot veel stemoefeningen gedaan - en ik ben er een betere zanger
door geworden." |

an intriguing appearance on Lobster Theremin's PLUR compilation in 2020, New
York's Talker prepares his debut on Cheeky Sneakers with four varying cuts of
emotive breakbeat and squelchy electro NRG. "Information" takes the
swaying aesthetics and waved basslines of contemporary breaks and wraps it in
a digital ribbon; a periodic dip into a post-humanoid world where information
is no longer something we consume, but something we have become. Delicate
melodies swirl above the clouds leading the raver to their inevitable peak,
before large kicks and percussive power sparks the fuse with a flurry of gun
fingers and hands ascending towards new heights. "Da Business"
again wraps its electronic sequence in a modern blanket with elements of
grime, garage and electro taking it in turns to wow and delight; a
distinctive, lairy UK energy moulds together with ice-like synth work on an
emotional trip that packs a punch, before the B-side is introduced on
"X", a squelching cut of acid-electro made for late nights and
strobe lights. "Echolation" finishes things off the way it stated -
cinematic breakbeat that invites the listener to take a moment for themselves
on the dancefloor, looking inward for moments of private contemplation as the
euphoria is pushed increasingly outward |

is slowly approaching, chaos is slowly dissolving. We pushed the button to
try the new reality and for the soundtrack we've got for one of the more club
oriented releases we have made till date. Dakar's newest affiliate midnight
menace starts the release with his already known schranz alike beat, dark and
acidic pushing the Dance floor limits. Cressida strikes with a funk push
which could have totally fit in a Black Nation record from 2002, one of the
very few produces using swing in his tracks these days. Freshness guaranteed.
Debuting the Spaniard Jheal Bashta deliver a hyper futuristic song, amen
breaks, autotune, which year is it again? Closing the issue, we warmly
welcome to the legend Deeon, who deserves no introductions. Ghetto-punk. For

Cryptic
Speech' opens this release with the thump of UMEK’s trademark kick drum and a
pulsating synth line. Dramatic stabs lead to the haunting breakdown which
provides an epic hands-in-the-air moment before the percussions slams back
in. 'Bounce That Ass' has a jacking sound that takes influence from Chicago's
ghetto and booty styles. Chunky percussion and UMEK’s own personal twist add
a modern take on the tried and tested style loved by dance floors all over
the world. The growling bass stabs, muffles vocals and snare rolls combine to
create the fist pumping groove. 'Killer' tips its hat to the old school rave
scene by utilising retro style synth stabs and a broken beat percussion loop
in its timeless breakdown. 'Navigating' sees a welcome return to the UMEK's
classic hoover synth arpeggios that gave his early tracks such a stand out
sound, and the raw energy is nothing less than superb! |

BRETT
is a new label celebrating the co-dependent scenes of techno and contemporary
art. A sub label of Inland’s Counterchange imprint, each edition will feature
music selected by Ed Davenport (Inland / Counterchange), paired with cover
art curated by Nils Petersen (Flipping The Coin). BRETT is dedicated to the
spirit of Berlin’s early club scene, where cross-pollination and spirited
discourse between musicians and visual artists etched the blueprints for a
new techno-culture. 001 finds co-creator and long-time Berlin ex-pat Inland
at the helm, delivering four surging, up-tempo club tools, plus 2
brainwave-activating noise experiments. Celebrated Irish-born artist
Mariechen Danz provides a photograph of her visionary sculpture, ‘Statue for
Gesticulation’, for the cover artwork. The towering super-human structure
bears a multitude of nurturing hand-gestures, suggesting support, comfort and
togetherness. Built from roughly textured grey concrete and resembling a
technoid, monolithic bunker or industrial space in itself, the loving,
humanist symbols of peaceful action mirror the culture of inclusion, love and
acceptance practised on the dance floor |

continues to have a busy year. Following up an album on Lobster Theremin and
EP on Transatlantic, he now lands on Delsin with three tracks that touch on
driving dub-techno and dreamy ambient. 'Oralage' opens with upbeat drum programming
and gliding hits that make for a smooth flowing groove. Distant pads add some
spacey atmospheres and the production is effortlessly warm and driving. 'A
Souls Search' takes time out to drift in the cosmos, with waves of muted
euphoria washing over you as you sink into clouds of ambient bliss. Lastly,
'Turn To Gaia' is a dubbed out techno roller, with long legged drums looping
down low, reverberating chords adding weight and distant bell sounds charting
the whole thing in a harmonic glow. It rounds out a super smooth and
seductive EP |

Tappa Zukie (David Sinclair) born
1955 Kingston,Jamaica actually cut his first record in England,after being
sent there aged 17. He was breaking from his troublesome past that found him
running with the rough crowd on the streets of Kingston. On his arrival in
sunny Ladbroke Grove London, producer Bunny Lee called him up on stage at a
local dance to sing a tune. Impressed with the results fellow producer Larry
Lawrence got the young Tappa in the studio the very next day and cyt ‘Jump
and Twist’. This led to cutting his ‘Man I Warrior’ album,but somewhat
disillusioned and homesick he returned to Jmaica shortly afterwards. But this
venture in the Uk was to pay dividends,seeing his ‘I Man Warrior’ album
receive great reviews on its release. We have collected together some great
lost treasures and some alternative cuts to some of Tappa’sbetter known
releases. Mr Zukie, DJ/Toaster/Producer Roll the tape one more time if you
please... |
