The collectable Artifact imprint
is taking a detour from incendiary and obscure disco re-issues into releasing
even more obscure material. Mysterious Italian electro-wave band Cristalli
Liquidi are featured here with a killer rare italo gem produced by Tinto B.
(also known for Robots Are Un-American, re-released on Italians Do It Better
last year). Inspired by a LCD Soundsystem song Tinto B. comes with this great
record! We cant find the connection to the LCD Soundsystem track that
supposed to have been his source of inspiration, and actually we dont care...
its some of the best recent Italo disco we've heard in a while! If you are
big on italo vocals the A side is for you, if instead you dig deep electro
disco but without the chanting, the dub version on the flip side will more
than certainly send you into italo space. Another hot Artifact release from

repress - Perc returns to Perc Trax for his first original release of 2020
and his first full EP since 'Three Tracks To Send To Your Ghost Producer' was
released back in March 2019. 'Fire In Negative' includes three tracks adapted
from his live set at Reaktor's Unpolished event in Amsterdam earlier of this
year, plus another completed directly after that set when the atmosphere and
energy of that event was still fresh in his mind. Title track and opener
'Fire In Negative' fuses crushing kicks with covert art gallery recordings
and the crackling flames of the title, topped off with Ventolin-esque sine
tones. Another statement track from Perc, sidestepping the current trend for
rave revivalism whilst matching its energy toe to toe. 'E Mono' is a classic
Perc drum track, skipping big builds for an unexpected switch in the middle
section, whilst 'Snare' goes in the opposite direction, breaking down into
two minutes of abrasive feedback before finally kicking back in |

Roe
Deers presents his fascinating debut full-length Salt Town Boy, a leftfield
collection of wild sonic tales filled with dusky moods and punk attitude. The
first LP to be released on Good Skills, the label Roe Deers runs with BDHBTS
co-conspirator Titas Motuzas, the album brings together tracks produced in
his Vilnius studio over the past six years. It also features a series of
unique storytelling vocal contributions from an international list of friends
and colleagues. Roe Deers is a Lithuanian-based project led by Liudas
Lazauskas. A regular at Vilnius institution Opium and a key member of the
city's fertile scene, he's long been breaking the rules of genre in his
explorations of the uncharted territories of murky electronic music,
releasing on labels like Omnidisc, Turbo, Nein Records and Throne Of Blood.
The Salt Town of the album's title is Druskininkai, the Lithuanian spa resort
where Roe Deers grew up and first began DJing at a venue run by his parents.
The breadth of styles and moods he was exposed to from an early age can be
heard across these 12 intriguing tracks, which blend elements of beat
science, electroclash, post punk, italo, krautrock and EBM into a deliciously
intoxicating brew. The skewed motorik pulse of opener and lead single 'Trident',
featuring apocalyptic intonations by French-Canadian lyricist C.A.R., sets an
offbeat, ominous tone that prevails for the rest of the album. Vocal
contributions from Israeli producer Niv Ast ('Late Night Tale'), Norwegian
troublemaker Sex Judas ('Rodeo King') and Berlin-based singer Aquarius Heaven
('Walking Down The Streets') each bring out the moods - vampish, febrile,
industrial - that permeate Roe Deers's textured, percussive productions. At
the album's centre are two tracks that point to the past and possible future
of the Roe Deers project: first, 'Theme' features French post punk band
Order89 in a compelling disco-noir moment that recalls his earlier club EPs;
then, regular collaborator Palmes Ziedas provides Lithuanian vocals for 'Tarp
Raudonu Sviesu' ('Between Red Lights'), a frenzied howl of a track that fits
an entire film score into its short three minutes. The instrumental pieces on
the album have their own stories to tell, from the dusty dive bar meditation
of 'Flying Carpets' to the paranoid proto-techno pulse of 'Celebrity Theme'
and the 11-minute cyclical epic 'Never - Ending -'. As the last moments of
cinematic closer 'Fin' play out, we realise that our trip down the twisted
paths of Roe Deers's beguiling sound world is coming to an end; but we also
know that to go back in again all we have to do is press play |

the UK punk movement, ATTAK were born as a four piece in New Mills in 1981,
but immediately reversed to a trio when their singer left for school
commitments and released two incredible singles on the No Future label in
this form, right before recruiting a new guitarist and record Zombies, who
came out in 1983 on the same label. Known for featuring Mackie from BLITZs
sister on drums, (and sounding A LOT like his band!), ATTAK definitely split
up in late 1983. This criminally underrated classic gets reissued on vinyl
for the first time since 1983 with his original artwork and fully remastered |

years of service. Over the course of the 18 tracks, divided across 3 discs, a
whopping 25 individual artists show us what they can do, repping the distinct
sound they bring to the label. On the first disc, techno giant Alan
Fitzpatrick teams up with Drumcode affiliate Reset Robot on a big-room techno
slammer before Israeli duo Red Axes take us into the big room of our mind
with a transcendental techno cut. Laurence Guy guides us in a different
direction completely, joining Lis Sarroca, Marc Brauner and Tender Games in
creating a groove that you can sit back into, losing yourself amongst Lis'
syrup-smooth house, Miller Blue's soul-stroking vocals and MB & TG's
piano tickles. Before you get too comfortable, the Time Is Now lot come
through with a suitable dose of ruffage, from Main Phase and Soul Mass
Transit System's giddy UKG and speed garage, to the '90s-inspired atmospheric

In
1975, under the oppressive air of military dictatorship in Brazil, brothers
Lelo and Zé Eduardo Nazario invited bassist Zeca Assumpção to join their
musical experiments in a basement under Sao Paulo’s Teodoro Sampaio Street.
As teenagers, the trio had already been playing together in Hermeto Pascoal’s
Grupo, alongside guitarist Toninho Horta and saxophonist Nivaldo Ornelas, and
it was while working together under Hermeto’s direction that the Paulista
rhythm section (as they were then known) began to realise their own
potential. With many nightclubs and venues closed in the mid-70s and
government censors dictating the output of radio, TV and art galleries, many
Brazilian artists fled during the years of dictatorship. But underground,
Grupo Um were fusing avant garde ideals with contemporary jazz and Afro
Brazilian rhythm; making phenomenally free and expressive music - in stark
contrast to the sterile, conservative conditions being imposed above ground.
Just like Hermeto Pascoal’s Viajando Com O Som from the following year,
Starting Point was recorded over two days at Vice-Versa Studios, by revered
engineer Renato Viola. The studio was one of the best in Sao Paulo and
musicians communicated with engineers through cameras and a monitor, allowing
the group complete immersion in the process. They also made use of the
studio’s hemispherical tiled room, which served as an acoustic reverberation
chamber. The album begins with Zé Eduardo Nazario’s thunderous drum solo on
“Porão da Teodoro”, before clearing the clouds with the lone Berimbau which
opens “Onze Por Oito”. Built around a hypnotic electric bass line, heady
Fender Rhodes improvisations, and more rip-roaring drums, it’s a rapturous,
electrifying freak-jam in 11/8. Like some invertebrate deep-sea curiosity,
the free-form “Organica” is made up of Lelo Nazario’s playfully eerie
prepared piano, with Zé Eduardo’s percussion flurries darting around
Assumpçao’s double bass. The equally non-conformist, percussion-only piece
“Jardim Candida” features many of Zé Eduardo’s home-made instruments,
including a long saw blade played with vibraphone sticks and violin bow.
While working with Hermeto, Zé Eduardo famously built his own all-in-one
percussion set-up known as the “Barraca de Percussão” (Percussion Tent) - the
first of its kind in Brazil, which he would also use on Hermeto Pascoal’s
Viajando Com O Som and throughout his career. “Suite Orquidea Negra'' (Black
Orchid Suite) was written by Lelo Nazario as the score for an imaginary movie
- the story of a rare, black orchid which produced a substance meant to cure
all diseases, but which had mysteriously disappeared from the laboratory… “As
a screenplay it’s not very good” reflects Lelo in jest, “but the music ended
up being very interesting, the way its parts are chained to one another
carries a little of the mystery I imagined for the movie.” |

album, Codes of Nature, shows the artist making yet more refinements and
additions to an already rich catalog of musical ideas. Though he has excelled
in collaborative projects with Ambiq, Ricardo Villalobos, Max Loderbauer,

Crystal Geometry arrives on BPitch with his first full EP ‘Promised Lands’.
After debuting on BPitch’s We Are Not Alone compilation, Frenchman. Crystal
Geometry arrives with his first full EP for the label. Showcasing his
diversity across four distinct cuts, this is Crystal Geometry in playful and
experimental mode, utilising his modular synth skills to bring us a powerful
selection of tracks. ‘Everlasting Ghost of an Acid Trip’ is a
self-explanatory cut that dives deep into themes around death and LSD. With
lyrics inspired by the early Norwegian black metal scene, he goes all out
with the 303 line and hardcore-inspired beats. ‘Alien Abduction’ was made
especially for BPitch, the modular synth taking centre stage as 80s
percussion and
washed out vocals do the work. ‘Drink My Blood’ is one for the hardcore
goths, allowing Crystal Geometry to express the depths of his dark soul. The
lyrics say it all, "Drink, drink my blood! It's dark, like my soul.
Feed! Feed on me, don't waste a drop of that gold". Finally, ‘The
Promised Land?’ addresses the dire situation in the Middle East, redefining
the so-called Holy Land. The melancholy atmosphere is potent, reinforced by

Studio
One was founded by Clement "Coxsone" Dodd in 1954, and the first
recordings were cut in 1963 on Brentford Road in Kingston. Amongst its
earliest records were "Easy Snappin" by Theophilus Beckford, backed
by Clue J & His Blues Blasters, and "This Man is Back" by
trombonist Don Drummond. Dodd had previously issued music on a series of
other labels, including World Disc, and had run Sir Coxsone the Downbeat, one
of the largest and most reputable sound systems in the Kingston ghettos. In
the early 1960s, the house band providing backing for the vocalists were the
Skatalites (1964–65), whose members (including Roland Alphonso, Don Drummond,
Tommy McCook, Jackie Mittoo, Lester Sterling and Lloyd Brevett) were recruited
from the Kingston jazz scene by Dodd. The Skatalites split up in 1965 after
Drummond was jailed for murder, and Dodd formed new house band the Soul
Brothers (1965–66), later named the Soul Vendors (1967) and Sound Dimension
(1967-). From 1965 to 1968 they played 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., 5 days a week, 12
rhythms a day (about 60 rhythms a week) with Jackie Mittoo as music director,
Brian Atkinson (1965–1968) on bass, Hux Brown on guitar, Harry Haughton
(guitar), Joe Isaacs on drums (1966–1968), Denzel Laing on percussion, and on
horns (some initially and some throughout): Roland Alphonso, Dennis 'Ska'
Campbell, Bobby Ellis, Lester Sterling, among others on horns during the era
of Rock Steady. Headley Bennett, Ernest Ranglin, Vin Gordon and Leroy Sibbles
were included among a fluid line-up, to record tracks directed by Jackie
Mittoo at Studio One from 1966-1968. During the night hours at Studio One
from 1965-1968, singers like Bob Marley, Burning Spear, The Heptones, The
Ethiopians, Ken Boothe, Rita Marley, Marcia Griffiths, Judy Mowatt, Alton
Ellis, Delroy Wilson, Bunny Wailer and Johnny Nash, among others, would put
on headphones to sing lyrics to original tracks recorded by the Soul Brothers
earlier each day. These seminal recordings included "Real Rock" (by
Sound Dimension), "Heavy Rock", "Jamaica Underground",
"Wakie Wakie", "Lemon Tree", "Hot Shot",
"I'm Still In Love With You", "Dancing Mood", and
"Creation Rebel". Jackie Mittoo, Joe Isaacs, and Brian Atkinson
left Studio One in 1968, recorded drums and bass for Desmond Dekker's and
Toots' biggest hits at other Kingston studios, then moved to Canada. Hux
Brown stayed in Jamaica to record on the soundtrack The Harder They Come, The
Harder They Fall, and toured in Nigeria with Toots and the Maytals and Fela
Kuti. The Soul Brothers (a.k.a. Sound Dimension) formed the basis of reggae
music in the late 1960s, being versioned and re-versioned time after time over
decades by musicians like Shaggy, Sean Paul, Snoop Lion, The Clash, String
Cheese Incident, UB40, Sublime, and countless other Billboard originals and

Techno legend Dave Angel drops
‘Glide’ on Radio Slave’s Rekids this January. Dave Angel was a regular on
Brixton-based pirate radio station Phase One in the late ‘80s and an integral
part of the UK Techno scene ever since, remixing the likes of Underworld,
Orbital, and Model 500, and founding Rotation Records in the ‘90s. Turning
his sights to Radio Slave’s essential Rekids for his latest release, the
iconic DJ/producer prepares a heavy duty two-tracker for the label, dropping
in early 2023. Title cut ‘Glide’ leads the release with flanged hi-hats,
evolving synths, and rocking low-end combining to form a club-shaking hit. On
the flip, ‘Peekaboo’ combines dub-techno-inspired chords with wonky samples
and pumping drums for a warehouse-filling B-side |

Records in 2006, Chizawa Q revives his ‘Asia’ release with the surfacing of a
new remix, the ‘Asia 4 (Lost Q Mix)’. The Japanese producer, who has enjoyed
a modest string of releases for F-Communications and Deka Traxxx, fires out
an epically irresistible remix that is sure to soundtrack the summer clubs
and festivals ahead. With its roots in the Detroit school of techno, it’s
easy to hear the influences of such legends as Underground Resistance and
Rolando, and the melodic style of jazzy techno established by artists like
R&S Records’ Dave Angel, Vince Watson and Steve Rachmand, but the ‘Lost
Asia’ EP is no pastiche. Emotive and musical, delivered with the purity and

Lost recordings that defined the
modern sound of the Sahara. This album contains the first recordings of
modern music from the Sahara and mark the birth of the genre that is known in
the West as ‘Desert Blues’ or ‘Desert Rock’. Ahl Nana changed the folk music
of the Sahara to modern, cosmopolitan music by using Western instruments like
the electric guitar. They paved the way for artists like Ali Farka Touré,
Tinariwen, Mdou Moctar or Bombino. Although the group is still active today,
they only recorded 2 LPs and a handful of singles. All these recordings took
place in 1971 at the Boussiphone studios in Casablanca. The records were
never distributed and therefore remained unknown for almost 50 years, until
Radio Martiko discovered a batch of unsold factory stock a few years ago. On
this album, you will find a selection of these revolutionary recordings |

are back and charging in to the beginning of the year with a new catalogue
number and compilation series. 'Vague Weight Vol. 1' launches the black label
series that will be focused on the intersection of grime, dubstep, break-beat
and other UK bass flavours with the hard and gritty techno sounds the label
has become renowned for. The A1 thrusts us straight in to this sonic world
with an icy 4-4 slammer from Otautahi local legend and 1985 signee Ebb. Grimy
cold square waves, gun reloads and some of the chunkiest drum programming in
the South Pacific come together in this perfect representation of what the
black label series is about. The A2 follows on with this theme with a huge
bassy dance-floor anthem from London-based Irish artist Witch Trials featuring
ghostly melodic hooks, creeping atmospheres and stepping rhythms to close out
the A-side. The B1 begins the flip with UK hardcore stylings from Voitax
regular and bass experimentalist Cressida. Broken beats, monstrous bass
pulses, faded rave synths and diva vocals combine in this huge slab of
break-beat weight from the Berlin-based producer. Finally the compilation
closes with an odd-ball chunk of 4-4 dub experimentation from Swedish HAVEN
legend Peder Mannerfelt, following on from 2020's 'Ensnared' EP.

Environ had already remastered and re-released this essential LP for its 15th
anniversary. So this time around, we're doing something a bit different. To
celebrate two decades of Metro Area, Environ has partnered with renowned
mastering engineer Matt Colton (Metropolis Studios) to remaster and recut the
first four Metro Area 12"s: Metro Area, Metro Area 2, Metro Area 3 and
Metro Area 4. Unlike the album reissue, these records include the original,
extended 12" versions of all songs, including some which have never been
