Akerbeltz into the Spanish Black Metal scene date back to the early 90-s when
he was involved in BEHEADED LAMB in Barcelona. In 1996 he formed his own solo
band AKERBELTZ and one year later released the debut demo "Spreading the
Eternal Mayhem". During all these years, AKERBELTZ has recorded seven
full lenght albums and multiple split releases, always devoted to the Black
Arts. With "Merciless", AKERBELTZ gets a better production than
ever (thanks to Akerbeltz's band mate in KÖRGULL THE EXTERMINATOR Javier
Félez and his Moontower Studios) but with the rawness and darkness as ever in
his sound. No place for trailblazing or meekness, but a harsh route to the

installation for quadraphonic system, architecture and light, by Efrain
Rozas. It took place at Queens lab, as part of his one month residency for
The Kitchen, in New York City, April 2021. The album is a stereo live room
recording of one of the sessions. Efrain Rozas is a Peruvian musician -
researcher, specialized in the combination of new technologies and Latin
American genres. He holds a PhD in composition and ethnomusicology at New
York University, funded by the McCracken fellowship. He has published the
book - video documentary Fusion: a soundtrack for Peru, and has released
several albums internationally via Names You can Trust, the Ethnomusicology
Institute of Peru, the Embassy of Spain and Buh Records |

Syntoma
is one of the first bands in Mexico (and in Latino America) whose mix punk
with synths and drum machines. Remaster from the original tapes this reissue
come with an extra A2 poster with photos, lyrics and liner notes. The song
"No Me Puedo Controlar" was included in the compilation "Back
Up: Mexican Tecno Pop 1980-1989" released by Dark Entries in 2021.
Syntoma is a DIY synth band formed in Mexico City in the early 80's. "No
Me Puedo Controlar", the only Syntoma's LP, released in 1983 by the
independent labels Corporación Sintética and Trópico Digital, combined the
benefits and atrocities of speculative science fiction with dystopian opera
that opened the doors to new formulas for understanding the progress of human
degradation. Where some used technology to destroy and conquer, others to

Dubplate continues to celebrate the best in unreleased dubs and in-demand
tracks from the world of drum and bass with the next edition of this
prestigious series, brought to you by Zero T and Black Barrel. Fans of the
label will be familiar with these two label favourites, both responsible for
several classic album releases for Dispatch and countless well-received EPs.
Leading the release is the VIP of "Sonic Bionic" from Zero T. The
original has been in heavy rotation since release in 2021, and this VIP has
been a secret weapon in Zero T's sets of late. When Ant TC1 suggested a VIP
treatment for this track, Zero T decided to take the vibe back a couple of
years from the original's nod to the Full Cycle sound of 1998, to a more '96
vibe. A classic stripped-back Sandman break and a call-andresponse bassline,
are joined by a halftime intro and breakdown, for a further nod to the dark
Wu-Tang-style hip-hop influences of the original. The DLR Remix of Black
Barrel's "Fabric" makes up the next track in this split release.
The original from 2019 will be well known to many. This DLR Remix adds that
trademark funk to this classic roller. Completing the digital release is an
incredible collab from both artists, a soulful vocal leads "Deep
Inside" as Zero T and Black Barrel flex their liquid credentials.
Building on Black Barrel's original melody with techno-influenced, looped-out
vibes - deep by name, deep by nature. The vinyl exclusive track for the
limited edition heavyweight release is Black Barrel's own VIP of
"Fabric". Another secret weapon, this rework includes added weight
and intensity - building on the original's glitched funk |

Infrastructure
is proud to introduce the debut record from Campbell Irvine, the 23 year-old
outsider talent who hails from Australia and has recently re-located to
Berlin. Part industrial mantra, part musique concr?te, this immersive and
captivating debut continues Infrastructure's re-launch, bringing genuine new
talent to the table. The classically trained violinist, who until recently
had little background or experience in electronic music, has put together a
deeply ritualistic study in textural, layered compositions inspired by
middle-eastern traditions and rhythms. With a nod to the influential work of
artists like Muslimgauze, Irvine has constructed a complex world of
electro-acoustic elements, carefully processed and arranged field recordings,
acoustic percussion and arabic sound-bytes. Underpinning each tense, hypnotic
arrangement are subtle sub-sonic elements that have their roots in dub or dub
techno, yet the overall impressive sound aesthetic is far removed from both.
'Removal Of The Six Armed Goddess' arrives as a welcome beacon for the techno
community, proving that innovation in both composition and production is
still attainable |

From
a sporadic late-nineties outlet for the work of label founder David Sumner
aka Function and his contemporaries, Infrastructure has re-emerged in the
last two years as a busy and consistent platform for modern electronic music.
Re-launching with a collaboration between Sumner and long-time colleague Ed
Davenport aka Inland, the pair released Function/Inland's ambient techno EP
'Odeon / Rhyl' as INF-012 in May of 2014, marking a new wave of material on
the label which had been dormant since Sumner's first material on Sandwell
District emerged in 2007. In the two years following the pair have
orchestrated 10 vinyl releases, including a debut album by Techno anonym Post
Scriptum, two singles from young avant-garde composer Campbell Irvine, a
double pack reissue of classic acid pioneer-tracks from Mark Archer's
Trackman guise, a crossover single by Cassegrain & Tin Man, and more.
Both Post Scriptum and Campbell Irvine released their debut material on
Infrastructure; discovering and promoting new raw talent is high on the
agenda. Now Infrastructure introduces it's next milestone - Facticity. A 4 x
12'' vinyl box set, CD and digital format compilation featuring 15 tracks by
key artists, label colleagues and new faces. Facticity represents the foundations
of what Infrastructure stands for - a manifesto for 2016 and beyond.
Function, Inland, Function/Inland, Campbell Irvine, Post Scriptum, Cassegrain
& Tin Man, Rrose, Efdemin, Vatican Shadow, Silent Servant, Blue Hour,
Steve Bicknell and Cleric all feature, spinning a narrative ranging from
lush, ambient electronics and post-club diversions, to contemporary club
techno and back again. Infrastructure regularly works with up-and-coming
artists on cover artwork. Respected young Swiss artist Julian Charri?re
provided the iconic greyscale cover for Post Scriptum's debut LP (INF-020),
and London based photographer Guy Archard's work featured on Campbell
Irvine's 'Reunion of Two Bodies' Maxi-EP (INF-018). Now the celebrated
British fine-artist Robert NcNally has been invited to submit original
artwork for Facticity. Selected by Jake and Dinos Chapman to show work at the
prestigious Flowers Gallery in London, and commissioned by Damien Hurst to
provide work for his private collection, Robert's incredibly detailed large
scale pencil drawings are attracting serious interest in the modern art
world. McNally's cover image was selected from a series of works based on
adapted antique post cards. Its anti-establishment, censorship-related
overtones are clear to see, as is the stark use of contrast - thick layers
obscure the fading original, re-appropriating it. Setting the tone for this
carefully compiled collection of new music, rich in subtexts and sub-genres,
a special edition print of the cover artwork will be included in the first
500 copies of Facticity |

Rrose's first EPs, in 2011, [Seth] Horvitz has worked techno's standard
tropes into an increasingly elastic form, leaning into the destabilizing
effects of repetition and relishing the impact of small changes carried out

mystery." -Pitchfork The first solo EP from Rrose since 2019's
critically acclaimed full-length Hymn to Moisture, Tulip Space combines
dancefloor and experimental elements with a confounding cohesiveness. The
opening track clocks in at 133 BPM and is generated from a single distorted
kick drum processed and sculpted to form multiple layers of percussion. With
the addition of a 909 hi-hat and snare drum, Rrose proceeds to melt the
dancefloor without a synthesizer, melody, or chord in sight.
"Squared" quantizes the sound of a creaking metal hinge to create a
destabilizing psychoacoustic rhythm riding in and out of sync with a
throbbing sub bass. On the B-side, "In Place of Matter" is a
driving piece of resonant analog synth-led techno that manages to feel
intensely frenetic at just 96bpm. The EP closes with a spiraling piece of
rhythmic noise that melts into a low frequency stew, a parable for the times |

For
the last 20 years London-based author and party organiser Tim Lawrence has
dedicated himself to excavating the history of New York City party culture
and bringing some of the most powerful aspects of that culture to London’s
dance scene, from where it has ricocheted around the world. Having conducted
the first set of major interviews with David Mancuso, Lawrence started to put
on Loft-style Lucky Cloud Sound System parties with David and friends in
London in June 2003. In early 2004 he published Love Saves the Day: A History
of American Dance Music Culture, 1970-79, which tracked the influence of the
Loft on the wider New York DJ, dance and disco scene. In 2009 his biography
of the iconic musician Arthur Russell became the first book to map the wider
downtown music scene. These beautifully written and politically insightful
histories have educated, inspired and celebrated the previously overlooked
foundations of contemporary dance music. Lawrence’s most recent publication,
Life & Death On The New York Dancefloor, 1980 – 1983, published in late
2016, shines a light on 'one of the most dynamic and creative periods in the
history of New York City'. Falling between the more regularly celebrated
sounds of disco, house and techno, the period produced a uniquely hybrid
series of sounds that never acquired a settled name. This led them to be
largely ignored by historians and even DJs, yet the power of the period’s
music and the scenes it birthed, Lawrence argues, remains undeniable. Met
with a rapturous response, Life and Death On The New York Dance Floor saw
Lawrence on the road for most of the next year as he spread the word about
the characters, the records, the clubs and the bands that shaped the
post-Disco, post-Punk, and burgeoning Hip Hop landscapes of New York City
during the early 1980s—a period when freedom still ruled.
This, the first of a 2-part sonic tribute to the 1980 – 1983 era as well as
a musical companion piece to Life & Death On The New York Dance Floor
sees recognised musicians (David Byrne of Talking Heads) nestle up alongside
the belatedly recognised (Arthur Russell’s Dinosaur L and Loose Joints, and
Suicide's Alan Vega) and the downright obscure (Gray, 2 Teens Kill 4 and
Tuxedomoon). An indication of what’s to follow, Dinosaur L’s original album
version of “Go Bang” has been dramatically overshadowed by the definitive
François Kevorkian remix yet received regular play by David Mancuso and
remains an enthralling experimental Arthur Russell jam |

Opening
with the title track ‘Rituals’, Cora sets the pace of the EP with a pulsating
kick and bass combo, uniform claps and a misting synth to give a dark
atmosphere. A recurrent and frenzied vocal is introduced, throwing off all
steadiness and sending the percussion into a frenzy. Deranged industrial
elements and off-kilter sonics whine and ring out as the track develops,
adding to the darkness Novoa has initially created. Subsequent track ‘Old
Anthems’ is forefronted by a bubbling electro riff and a repetitive, chopped
up sample ringing out in tandem with percussive stabs. Glitchy drums and
distortions are dotted throughout, adding an eccentricity to this
trance-inducing track. ‘I’m Gonna Kill You, King Romano’ is the shortest cut
on the EP, but packs just as much impact. The sound production mimics that of
polyphonic choir music, with Cora using multiple samples and effects to
achieve this. The voices are layered over gentle pads and modest twinkling
keys to create an ethereal moment in this raucous EP. Nur Jaber’s rework
brings with it a sharp, leaner kick and switch-up with the samples - now
using a low-pitched and muffled male voice. Trance-like synths are teased out
but restrained. Nur’s interpretation adds a lightness to the original, playing
with arrangements and creating a new melody of airy wavering keys and a
distorted, washed-out rave sound |

OTHR is the techno alias of KHIDI
resident and Tbilisi native Ladouka Ninua releasing his first EP on BITE

New Jersey via The Netherlands: longstanding US craftsman Joey Anderson makes
his debut on Deeptrax with his inspiring new album... 'Exotic Sequence' His
fourth LP to date, 'Exotic Sequence' is a fully instrumental deep dive into
both Joey's machines and mindset, as he explains himself... "The title
'Exotic Sequence' stood out to me because throughout the LP I tended to use a
sequencer for the main melody of most of the tracks. Almost every time I
approach a track with techno intentions it eventually ends up being deep /
housey," states the artist who broke through 15 years ago on Qu's
Strength Music and has worked closely with the likes of Dekmantel and, more
recently, Avenue 66. Now at home on the relatively new and positively
thriving label arm of Dutch record store institution Deeptrax, Joey tells us
where he's at with a body of work that poignantly reminds us that it's not
the destination that counts; it's the journey we endure to get there. In this
sense, 'Exotic Sequence' is the sound of Joey letting his instruments guide,
inform and inspire him. Cuts like the constantly rising and hopeful 'Sky
Children', the deep 808 bubbles and dreamy reflections of 'Behind The Valley'
and the emotionally rich 'Stop' are just a handful of examples of Joey being
lost in deep flow, channeling the creative energy in his studio. It lands
exactly three years after his last album 'Rainbow Doll', neatly bookending
the strangest and most surreal start to any decade we've lived through since
house and techno culture took root in the 80s. A timeless document that looks
forward and back and remains unhurried, thoughtful and crafted with
longevity, 'Exotic Sequence' is arguably the most honest and frank side to

As
the second release of 2023 and already on its fourth edition, Fuga is back on
Token. This compilation serves as a reflection of techno today while
maintaining the cosmic, driving sound that has become Token's signature over
the years. Our introduction to this excursion is appropriately named 'Neutron
Star Remnant' by UK's Coefficient. A pulsating bassline over a syncopated
kick swings along lush pads to create a first look into the compilation,
promising character and quality. Turning the page over to Bailey Ibbs, our
dreamlike curtain is dropped and we're left with 'Caelid'. The tone is set,
the nostalgia is lost, and we are left with Ibb's sleek uptempo techno track,
bursting with groove; the sequence of percussive elements brew the perfect
storm of infectious techno. Phara then takes control with 'Evoke', boasting a
thick and persistent bassline. Returning to a rounder, analog sounding
record, the dissonance of the lead bells make it a true nail-biter of a
track. The intensity of the project is quickly lifted by Hemka's 'Bazaar' for
nearly six and a half minutes of barely contained, high-pressure club music.
The cyclical rise of the background atmosphere and soundscapes make this a
properly anxious piece. Nørbak then uses 'Dano' to take down the intensity
with a tom-driven percussion line and a thick, intricate ambience evolving
like waves through a reliable rhythm. For our 6th chapter, Vinicius Honorio
& Ricardo Garduno guide us back to the body. A drum machine skips along
to a muffled synth line, reducing the dimensions of the record that had been
opened, and resorting to being slightly more claustrophobic to create that
needed tension. We then jump into Kike Pravda's 'Lost in Darkness' for a
full-on space and granular submersion. Our second to last track inches along
almost like an insect, one texture exchanging for another, constantly pushing
through its duration. Finally we turn to our last chapter by Amorphic called
'A57'. This ending picks up the pace but offers space for a meditative and
relaxing conclusion to wind down after another intense installment of Fuga |

James Holden teams up with Polish clarinet guru Waclaw Zimpel for a four
track EP of deliciously krauty improvisations, recorded back in the summer of
2018 when Zimpel (and on 'Tuesday' and 'Wednesday' his longtime collaborator
guitarist Jakub Ziolek) joined Holden in his London studio for a series of
musical experiments, with the goal of completing one track per day. The
resultant 'Long Weekend EP' is a captivating in-the-moment lyrical
conversation between alto clarinet and modular synth, judiciously
supplemented by guitar, organ, voice and assorted percussion and glued
together with atmospheric syrupy tape overdubs. A meeting of two like-minded

Ellen
Allien and the We Are Not Alone collective are back with a second edition of
the We Are Not Alone series. A 36-track compilation split into 3 parts, each
consisting of 12 cuts, dedicated to the infamous We Are Not Alone event
series and the best of Berlin’s underground techno talent. Ellen Allien's
innovative party series We Are Not Alone was launched in 2016 and remains
committed to inviting an exciting crew of artists to perform at the 36 hour
events, now in a new home at RSO.BERLIN, where they returned with bang over
36 hours and 3 floors in May. The We Are Not Alone compilation features
artists that have played at the parties, as well as those who will join the
line-up for future events. The 4th, 5th and 6th parts include music by Ellen
and established names names such as Thomas P. Heckmann, Dollkraut & DJ
Europarking, Francois X, Phase Fatale and Etapp Kyle. Rising stars Nene H,
Nur Jaber, Stephanie Sykes, Wallis and Métaraph. BPitch signings including
Rosa Anschütz, Shaleen, Matasism and Uncrat. For this installment of the
series, Ellen Allien collaborates with esteemed director and photographer
Stini Roehrs for the multidisciplinary project ‘’AFTER DARK – Emotional
States of Techno’’, consisting of a virtual rave film, book and exhibition
produced by AKKURAT Studios, and the We Are Not Alone VA, which is to be
released physically and digitally via BPitch. The next We Are Not Alone
parties take place at RSO, Berlin in July, August and October of this year.
22nd July, CSD weekend, is set to be a single night event on two floors. 20th
August a We Are Not Alone floor during the RSO Club Festival and then we’ll

Blackploid
has become one of Central Processing Unit's stalwarts in the past couple of
years. Martin Matiske's project contributed a trio of EPs to the Sheffield
label across 2021 and 2022, with each of them showing off the kind of electro
chops and production sensibilities that made Blackploid an ideal fit for an
imprint which also boasts the likes of Cygnus, Silicon Scally and Bochum Welt
among its catalogue. Now, for CPU's first release of 2023, Matiske levels
things up with the debut Blackploid LPEnter Universe. Across these twelve
tracks, Matiske leaves us in no doubt that he's a prime mover in the world of
modern electronic music.Enter Universedoes not let up from start to finish,
delivering a dozen pieces of leftfield electro that draws from the sound's
greats while also showcasing an unpredictability and flair that is all of
Blackploid's own. The tone is set from the first frosty chords of opening cut
'Pulsation'. The track traverses the starscape on pitter-patter drums and
chirruping synths, a lively and slightly dystopian roller with an adventurous
undercurrent reminiscent of classic Rephlex drops. It's a style which
Blackploid often draws for throughout the rest ofEnter Universe, albeit with
elements added or subtracted at each stage. Indeed, this album features some
of the most unusual production you will hear on any record this year. While
the grooves pulse away in a manner reminiscent of Drexciya or Legowelt,
Blackploid layers the mixes with a whole cornucopia of synth tones. 'The Mission'
boasts a bleep-bloop breakdown that sounds like malfunctioning rotary
telephones; 'Silent Room' is a ghoulish jam which harks back to Warp's
legendaryArtificial Intelligencecompilations; 'Automatik' and 'Wormhole' are
defined by some brilliantly strange low-ends - you'll be thinking of Mr.
Oizo's 'Flat Beat' with the wiggly former, while the gurgling, writhing
anti-lead that dictates 'Wormhole' is oddly thrilling and more than befits
the track's title. This inventive approach is also apparent in some of the
structural choices onEnter Universe. While the tracks here all keep a steady,
dancefloor friendly pulse, several of them surprise you by switching up the
approach after a minute or two. 'Pulsation', 'Automatik' and 'The Mission'
all feature moments where a new element - extra hi-hats, a synth line
entering from leftfield - inject fresh impetus into the tune to keep the
listener on their toes. Blackploid may push the sonic envelope onEnter
Universe, but this does not mean there is no room for melody. In particular,
the cuts here which most strongly channel 'Computer World'-era Kraftwerk do
so by fronting some slyly tuneful work, particularly in the low end of the
mix. 'Unidentified' serves up delightfully springy chords, 'Cell Mutation'
leads from the bassline, and 'Space Curve' features little cells of melody
and counter-melody working together to closeEnter Universeout on a high.

Former Customs clerk Roy Reid
thrilled the Jamaican music scene as a toaster, his effortless rhymes
establishing a reputation on the Supreme Ruler of Sound in his native Spanish
Town and later on various Kingston sets, including King Tubby's. Following a
successful phase in London, he returned to Jamaica to record for various
producers, having a special connection with chief hit/maker, Bunny Lee: Dread
Baldhead is a rare set from 1976 with Roy toasting at Tubby's studio over
some of Bunny's hardest Aggrovators rhythms as laid by Tommy McCook and team,
